nice to see the price of peggle is 800 points not sure what crystal defender is though.. lol.. and the maw is nice.. :D

  • WarioFan63

Crystal Defenders is a Tower Defense game from Square using Final Fantasy Tactics races.

  • Anonymous

Why did the maw DLC go from 100 to 160 points? No longer an insta-buy for me :(

  • GothOmega

Great, finally I’m going to buy a new XBLA game after several weeks. Hope the next PopCap’s game on XBLA will be Bejeweled Twist.

  • YODA12320

Also EA’s March Madness 09 Will be for 1600 MSP this week wewt!

  • ElektroDragon

It is an INSULT to Peggle fans and PopCap to not have it be part of “Days of Arcade”. Somehow I think this was intentional as revenge for whatever licensing issues may have existed between MS and PopCap.

  • DmentD

is this just going to be Peggle and or Peggle nights? I hope its a totally brand new peggle!

  • Teirdome

Finally a new XBLA title to hopefully get my fiancee addicted to instead of Zuma. I’m so tired of that dang frog…

  • Android8675309

    Forget PopC_ap. Where’s the new Pac-Man? (I know, I know.. too soon)

  • Ark Hunter

    Sweet. Finally!

  • KEVLAR x

Congrats microsoft for fair pricing of peggle. Everybody was expecting to get stiffed for 1200 pts or more due to your recent pricing of xbla titles. I guess you are finally learning your lesson, time will tell.

  • asphaltOnline

See, you *can* do good pricing when you try – 800 for Peggle is a brilliant price! Definitely going to grab this!

  • zfair899

Oh dear… Peggle… the cocaine of the gaming world.
    Must.Not.Buy…!

  • Ark Hunter

    @Dancing Dan
The last one was “out takes”. This is a whole level. (according to the description)

  • sleepydumbdude

I want to wait for Popcap games volume 2 so bad since it has Peggle on it. Hopefully I can find some other arcades to keep me occupied until then. I’m going to most likely get Crystal Defenders if I like the trial.

  • Travsam

sounds The Ode to Joy in these moments… finally the ball blows the last peg before joining the XBLA gamelist… great… great!!!… now you give me a reason to loss sleep…

  • ShinobiSteve81

    @ElektroDragon

Lol are you serious? An insult? Jeez, all you Peggle people were bitchin just days ago when it wasnt announced for the special, and were clamoring for it to come beforehand. Now when it does, still has to be some of you bitching! How lame.

  • Interceptor Lee

I was expecting Peggle to be 1200 points, so the fact it is 800 is a nice surprise :)
    Can’t wait..

  • Protonus

Dancing Dan: Are you REALLY complaining about 75 CENTS (60 points)?! My god people do you really need to gripe about pricing CONSTALTY?! It’s 75 freaking cents!!! Go look in your couch! If you don’t like the pricing, DON’T BUY IT. Your complaints don’t mean NEARLY as much as simply not buying it – speak with your wallet, and stop the silly complaints!

  • TheRev81

Ahhhh still no Dishwasher. I’m going nuts waiting on that game. But I do agree Peggle for 800 is a good price. I might buy….but prolly still just gonna hold off for The Dishwasher. Must…feed…ninja…cravings.

  • DanMW

Intant buy from me, been waiting for ages, will give Crystal Defenders a go as well.

  • yumcha84

    @ElektroDragon
are you serious?? your complaining about it coming early? Weirdo…

  • BrooksterMax

    800 points! :)

  • LausDomini

$13.25 and climbing to complete The Maw. When the last pack drops it will mean the entire game is about 1200 MSP. Had the levels originally been included and the game listed at 1200, I would not have bought it. This way, because I am driven to get every achievement, they have roped me in. I expect to see more of this business model down the road.

  • Computerdude103

    Yay, peggle!!!!

  • Ganon255

Finally Peggle is coming out, I know alot of people were really looking forward to it. I found it to be an extremely average game, myself.

  • Firecrest

Eh, Maw DLC? The Maw was far too linear to even consider it a real platformer. It was more along the lines of a slimmed-down virtual pet sim. Not interested in the DLC.

Crystal Defenders is better suited for portable gaming IMO, so I’ll probably end up picking it up on my iPod Touch if anything. It’s also $2 cheaper on iTunes, lol.

I haven’t played Peggle a try, but I hear it’s pretty addicting AND it has XBL multiplayer. If anything, chances are it’ll be the only DLC I pick up this week apart from the RB2 releases.

  • loopingstar

Time to get addicted again ! Peggle’s a great game , and fairly priced too :-)

  • Col J Matrix UK

To those saying 60ms points is only 75cents or whatever, that’s not the point. The fact is it’s a 60% mark up on the last DLC, which is a hell of an increase.

I always seem to post on here about pricing (in a negative way as there’s too many 1200 point games getting thrown in), but I have to say something positive this week:

800 points is great for a tile such as Peggle

Hopefully pricing will be more towards 800 points from now on. Considering the economic situation as well.

  • twisted poke

Will be picking up the compilation disc in a couple weeks to get my peggle fix. Don’t have any of the games included on the disc and have been wanting to try feeding frenzy 2.

  • Supreme Entity

Not to be funny or anything and I’m not looking for backlash, but why is this coming out for 800 MSP ($10) when it’s $5 directly on the Popcap site?

    http://www.popcap.com/games/peggle

Note that this deal from Popcap is only available until the end of this month, but it begs the question, why buy this on Xbox 360 when you can get it for five bucks cheaper on the website?

  • broxy bear

really looking forward to some peggle on wednesday , been waiting along time for this . i thought they were going to put a 1200 price on it really happy to pay 800 points

  • broxy bear

    @supreme entity
does the pc version have multiplayer and leaderboards? , i am not sure.

  • Binarynova

Having never heard of Crystal Defenders before I was surprised to see it was a Square title that falls somewhere inbetween Desktop Tower Defense and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Definatly going to be trying the trial. As far as Peggle goes, I’ll download the trial just to see what all the joyful screaming is about. :)

  • MACPH1ST0

@ Ark Hunter: “Deleted Scenes” is just Twisted Pixel’s nickname for the 3 DLC levels. It’s not actually outtakes – each one is a full level that couldn’t be included in the initial release of the game. I’m hoping that this level is bigger than the last one to explain the price increase!

  • Jicky Jacks

I complain enough about bad titles that come out on xbla, so I should give praise when it’s due too. Looks like we are getting two solid titles this week that I know I plan on picking up. Yeah, for xbla!

  • N3WB13 R0N

just got a e-mail guys from Twisted Pixel

    Hey friends!
Our second DLC level for The MAW has been given a release date. River Redirect will be released this Wednesday for 100 MS points. We made a cool trailer that you can download here. We tried to make this level offer a more challenging puzzle that requires multiple Maw powers. Please write me and let us know what you think if you try it out!
    Thanks!
    -Mike
So really the DLc will be 100 MS points..

  • DamianIsabel

buying peggle(heard good things about it) and will give it a whirl to squeenix title.
what’s the update on Banjo Tooie?
ahh the wait is so long…

  • Gorkinlot

    Thank GOD!!!!!!!!!

  • MADEIRA STEVE88

Wow!!!!!! 800 ms pts games……. i thought MS wiped them out?

  • MACPH1ST0

@ N3WB13 R0N: Hmmm is this another case of a developer trying to release DLC at a cost lower than what Microsoft wants to? Oh well, whatever the case may be, it’d better still be ready for download this Wednesday!

  • ElfNeedsFoodBad

Sweet, the 1600 points I was saving for Galactrix will now be spent!

  • Anonymous

@Protonus – im not complaining about .75 cents. Im complaining because its not real money – it’s points. If it was just me being charged 1.75 instead of .99 cents or whatever that converts into CAD then all the same but these are points which I need to put in with a minimum of 500, or 5 dollars / 7.50 canadian. its a minor gripe. I hate the whole points system, actually wouldnt mind the PSN dollar value of everything but what can you do?

  • RebornJeremiah

    Peggle for me obviously.

  • Jonah Falcon

Popcap Vol. 2 will have Peggle, Heavy Weapon and Feeding Frenzy 2 for $20, but that comes out March 27.

  • Exu

Why has the price of The Maw’s DLC levels been hiked? They were SUPPOSED to be 100 EACH, like the first one was.
    http://kotaku.com/5136210/three-new-levels-coming-to-the-maw-via-dlc
    See?

  • Exu

@N3WB13 R0N – Ah, thank you. That’ll teach me to post THEN read. Let’s hope it is indeed 100. Those 60 points make all the difference.

  • Rlan

CONFIRMED BY TWISTED PIXEL: The new DLC will be 100MSP, not 160MSP. It’s a mess up by Microsoft.

  • Anonymous

800pts for peggle sounds good, makes me wonder how much the DLC is gonna be….Im sure we’ll end up paying 1600pts in the end

  • StanleyPain

Crystal Defenders is pretty good, but once again this shows how out of touch MS is with their pricing and Arcade games in general. The game has already been released for the iPod and iPod Touch at $5. And it’s mobile.

So how do you justify releasing the same game with no difference (you’ll notice it doesn’t even have HD graphics, they just crammed the 4:3 original screen onto it) and have it NOT be portable for $10?

  • Exu

Cheers Rlan, I just hope Microsoft go the right away about amending that mistake. After all, there are two ways to fix it.

  • Monster Warfare

I wish I could get my hands on that Maw content, and the other previously released content, but sadly I have no Microsoft Points. Oh well, hope to pick it up soon.

  • bknight2k

Hopefully The Maw achievements will work this time.

  • Exu

@Sin Bin, take a look for prepaid cards. Often cheaper than dashboard value too.

  • Monster Warfare

Prepaid cards, as in like those Visa Credit card things?

  • MACPH1ST0

Hey Major could we get an edit of the River Redirect price if it really is only 100 points, to avoid any more confusion?

  • Exu

No Sin, prepaid cards as in Microsoft Points, you scratch off the code, input it in the dash and it gives you a set amount of points. Check next time you’re in a game shop.

  • fastmode

Peggle’s worth $20 – I know, I paid $20 for it on Mac. And you know, I’ll pay the $20 it’ll cost on XBLA too (once the DLC comes through later).

And I’ll love it. Peggle FTW!

  • Exu

Got Peggle PC for £1.28 off Popcap last night. ;D
    (Use the code blitz1)

  • brian childers

Awesome – I love the arcade games – good way to keep the wife (and me) entertained!

  • AutomaticOcelot

@LausDomini: You’ve come to the wrong meeting to gripe about points addiction. ;-) (Congrats in advance when you hit 100k.)

The demographic of the points-obsessed is probably less than 1% of the install base at this point. I have the full 200 for the full game. That’s 100% completion for the money I paid. I’m not going to spend a dollar to get another 15 points in 15 minutes. I refuse to buy gamerscore (yes I borrowed Avatar ;-) . If I see a video of the new levels and it looks fun, I might or might not get it.

  • Qkthr
  • snaketide

    Peggle! Peggle! Peggle!

Can you confirm regional availability, Major? I’m not going to build myself up for this only to then be told “Not available in: Australia, New Zealand, People’s Republic of Middle Earth, etc”.

  • MARVIC NL

I bought Peggle, Peggle Extreme and Night via Steam. Is this another version with other possibilities?

  • Anonymous

I second that snaketide same on crystal defenders says TBD on both peggle and that :( dont do this to me again microsoft If I cant download them again like exit 2 :(

  • Ark Hunter

Why no link to Marketplace for Peggle?

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

Concerning the MAW….the whole “deleted scene” thing was a joke by the publisher, done in good humor, that was taken wrong by a lot of people. The game was complete as originally sold, but, if you played it, you know it was a STORY, which had a beginning and an end, so when they added DLC, they called them “deleted scenes” so it looks like a DVD or something…you have the whole story (for 800), and you have, now, 2 “deleted scenes” (for 100 each) that occur between the chapters of the original game. I really have no problem paying 800 for a good quality game (like The Maw), then 100 pts for a level that includes another achv. Even if it totals 1200, no one is making you buy the extra stuff, and the original game is still “affordable”…this needs to be more the rule, rather than the exception.

  • Monster Warfare

@Exu: That is what I mean, I can’t buy any due to the money situation.

  • Ark Hunter

Oops, Me stupid. Retract my question about marketplace.
