Arcade, Marketplace By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Captain Bluey

    Peggle = instant buy! Great, addictive gameplay + great price. Well done MS!

  • ik00R

    peggle is crap, gimme more pinball fx tables instead!

  • snaketide

    Downloading now!

    BTW Major, using IE7.0.5730.13, whenever I close my brower whilst on your site, I get an “Internet Explorer Script Error – do you want to continue running scripts on this page” popup.

  • hotwheelsdavid

    is xbox live broke … i cant get to the download page

  • Sim31

    Peggle!!!!!!

  • elektrixxx

    Instapurchase.

  • Danowat32

    A welcome return to the 800 points price level, nice one.

  • SalamanderSkill

    I agree with Danowat32… This game is excellently priced @ 800ms points. To bad I bough ti on steam a while back.

    Can Major Nelson tell us how badly Watchmen failed in sales due to the 1600ms points fee?

  • Chicken Wyng

    @Salamander…. Actually according to Mr. Nelson, Watchmen was the #1 Arcade game last week. Go figure.

  • VEGEMITE 98

    Jeff Minter (the creater of Space Giraffe) should download this game, as this how an arcade game should be. Congrats to the creators of this game. WELL DONE. 800mp is UNDERPRICED!

  • I AceSpartan I

    @Salamander how did u get re5 early ?

  • Herblaw

    PEGGLE, PEGGLE!!!!!

  • oAssassin Xo

    So is this any different from the 4 or 5 PC versions? Because I own them already. I really like the game but I don’t want to buy it again if nothings changed content wise.

  • Danowat32

    As far as I can see, its exactly the same, I have it on the PC, and on my mobile phone, however, I am still sorely tempted to get it on XBLA, theres something about being able to play it on my big leather sofa, and on my large HD TV!!!!.

    That and the inclusion of acheievements.

  • darkjester74

    Peggle is $10 for the PC (i.e. Steam) so 800 MSP is the correct price for this title.

  • Warrengonline

    Who ever said this game rocked was so wrong. This game is AWESOME!! THIS would be an instant buy if I had the points. Picking up some MS points on Friday when I pick up RE5. (No, I’m not doing the midnight launch – but you can take photos if someone dresses up as a zombie or Chris.)

  • Warrengonline

    @oAssassin Xo
    What’s changed? You can compete against me and let me whoop you up a few times. But that is the only think I am sure of as this is the first time I’ve played this game. I’m a Bust-A-Move fan and I have it on my 3DO and play it maybe twice a year for kicks and simplicity that can get crazy after a few moments.

  • Stormgeist

    YES!!! FINALLY!

    When I first saw the Days of Arcade piece, I was like, “WHAT!?! No Peggle???”

    I’m so glad to see it up today. Insta-buy.

    To those knocking it… At least try it first. This is one of the best games in the history of history.

    Mind you… NO game is for EVERYONE, of course. But a lot of so-called “hardcore” gamers rip on puzzle games having never tried anything more than Tetris. I’m a huge fan of pretty much ALL genres, especially western RPGs, Sandboxes, and FPS’s, and believe me when I say that this is one of those games you need to try no matter what kind of games you like.

    Now I’m just waiting on the new Puzzle Quest and the remaining Fallout DLC. After that I’m all done.

    …Until I get more points :p

  • Chicken Wyng

    I must admit I had never heard of this game until recently and after playing the demo I’m hooked. I think Microsoft got it right with this one, pricing included, let’s hope they continue this trend.

  • oAssassin Xo

    Playing against people eh? Sounds worth it then. I can pwn everyone’s butt! (looks at Warren)

  • Warrengonline

    @VEGEMITE 98
    The Space Giraffe demo was psychedelic-cool (to me) until the baby heads. The colors were trippy and eventually hurt your eyes if you play for more than 4 minutes at a time (if you have 20/20).

    @Stormgeist
    Hardcore in the 80′s and 90′s are more true to the name. It bites when a person claims to be ‘hardcore’ and they do not play a game for more than 10 minutes, but decide to belittle on it instead. Peggle is AWESOME and the trials is now one of the BEST trials as you REALLY get a feeling of the game.

  • Warrengonline

    oAssassin Xo we haven’t played in a bit – Friday will be Peggle/RE5 night with a little SFIV (we need to battle – My Ryu vs Your ‘Punching Bag’ – heh heh heh) and Ridge Racer 6 on Sat 5 p.m. EST. Get your Peggle, I’ll have mine and ready to ricochet my points to the top. Peggle has 4 Player Online, so that also intrigues me!

  • murph17

    Peggle! Finally! Is it 5pm yet, so I can go home and play? It’s in my DL queue already.

  • Darth PaulBlack

    EXTREME FEVER FTW!!!!

  • CARNAGE RULES

    WHAT A RIPOFF!!! THIS GAME IS ONLY WORTH 5 DOLLARS. A D@MN PLINKO GAME FOR 10 DOLLARS!!! WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL THE 5 DOLLAR GAMES? IF ANYTHING THIS SHOULD BE 5 DOLLARS. SCREW YOU POP TART AND MICROMANAGE.

  • deltawing12

    Can’t wait for my Xbox to return from Texas where it’s getting repaired so I can download this!

  • Jambi Bum

    *Head explodes due to carnage rules*

    I really really don’t understand some people.

  • Nelsonpby

    Fun.

  • Binarynova

    I’m going to have to download the trial to see what all the hype is about. If it’s half as good as people make it out to be I may have to pick it up.

  • Warrengonline

    @Binarynova
    There is no hype as far as I’m concerned. This game is so addicting. For someone to compare this to Pachinko obviously have not played Pachinko or Peggle. I’ve played Pachinko (excitingly boring to me – no disrespect to the game as loads of people like it), but Peggle, oh Peggle where do I begin. I went in expecting nothing and was one hour late for work playing the trial (okay, I was not late technically, I just came in an hour later).

    I look forward to playing it later. Binarynova after you play it for 5 minutes or so you should get that “WOW!” feeling! (trying to fight the feeling of ‘dropping in and buying MS Points and getting it to night’ – must resist until Friday)

    @Jambi Bum
    Sometimes it best not to at times. Smile, have fun and keep on moving.

  • Anonymous

    I had never even heard of this game before, So this morning I downloaded both the new demos( crystal defenders) After trying them both out to see which I would buy, I HAD to get peggle, what a addicting game!!! Crystal defenders was cool too, but I would have to say peggle is a must have for anyone!!

  • JDBizz

    lord help me.

    I already have this on 2 ipods, steam, and I’ll buy it on 360 too.

  • Exu

    Heh, Peggle’s great and all but for me it doesn’t really “work” for 360. That and the PC version is currently $2.50/£1.28. ;D

  • asphaltOnline

    Great game, great price!

  • sleepydumbdude

    Dang I want to play this now but I also want that pop cop volume 2 disc at the end of the month. Hopefully crystal defenders can help me pass the time before then.

  • Interceptor Lee

    @Jambi Bum
    Don’t get too wound up by the idiot, I see he’s bought it cos its on his Games Played list. So he can’t have hated it or the price that much…

  • Gorkinlot

    XBLA takes another step closer to being complete!

  • CARNAGE RULES

    I just wanted to be in with the in crowd this week. I didn’t know we weren’t going to complain. Sorry, I didn’t get that memo. You complainer guys have to give a heads up. How the hell are we supposed to know that WE WERE NOT supposed to complain this week. Come on now, really, every week you guys come out and NOW, you guys throw a curveball and don’t complain. This is really disappointing. I’m so mad at you guys that this is the first and last time I EVER complain about the price of an arcade game. In fact, I’m sorry I ever did. Sorry to Pop Cap and Microsoft. I will never let the CCC (CHEAP COMPLAINER CHEEP) round me up in their little group again. Sorry guys (and I mean Pop Cap and Micro) won’t happen again.

  • Blue Thunder28

    Apparently this game is good… so I’m too scared to play the trail because I have 1600 unspent points, which I’m saving for UNO Rush and new Halo maps so I don’t want to risk being forced to buy it because of it’s greatness.

  • Warrengonline

    @CARNAGE RULES
    Come on. Price? Excellent! GamePlay? Totally Addicting! Fun Factor? Awesome, just TOTALLY awesome. Better than ‘frakking awesome’! What’s a ‘frak’ anyway?

    @Blue Thunder28
    I ALMOST stopped by EB to get my MS Points to get this, but I resisted. Come Friday at 3:30 p.m. I’ll be on peggling my way to victory. I gold starred the three little challenges already. The last one took me like 4 attempts to clear, the first two were easy-medium. You keep waiting, you’re points are going to get stale, set them free with Peggle! You’ll be happy you did. Boom Boom Rocket would even thank you. :)

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

    Just ignore the Carnage guy…every week he trolls MN’s forum trying to cause problems. Peggle is a lot of fun, and it’s easy to lose track of time as you work your way through the challenges. Definitely worth the 800, even if you own another version.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

    Major, I have a question about STREET DATED GAMES…why does MS not do anything to “enforce” these dates? Is it that hard to see who is playing a game prior to it’s street date, and take some action? As far as them gaining achvs, the simplest solution would be to simply have them locked until the official street date, then anyone who pirated the game or got one from a store that broke street date would have to re-do all the achvs and start over. It’s just a lousy trend that when a game comes out, there is no longer a “race” to see who can beat it first, as by the time you get a legit copy, there are already thousands of people who pirated the game, and thousands more who got it from places like Toys R Us and 7-11, that just don’t care, since there are never any consequences.

  • Computerdude103

    Could have used more than 55 levels, but still Peggle is one of the best “aracade” games out there. Also the multiplayer options they added to the Xbox version are awesome!! Glad it finally came out.

  • DamianIsabel

    just finished peggle, very cool game(haven’t played it before, bought it on a whim).

  • CARNAGE RULES

    @Killer Scuzzy J

    Who are you? Do you want to be an honorary member of the street police? Great question genius and to someone who plays most games before their street dates. Are you trying to make Major a hypocrite?… and when was there a race to beat it? Man, you’re a LOSER with a capital LOSER.

  • shane86

    /\ Obvious troll is obvious

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

    Some people, like any intelligent person knows, are allowed to play games early…companies release demos, certain media-types (like MN), magazines, testers, and reviewers get early copies of games, so NO, I am not trying to give MN a hard time. What I am trying to do is make some sense of why so many people are blatantly violating street dates and XBL terms of service by playing illegal copies of games on Xbox live, while they are signed in. I think there should be some kind of penalty, even if it’s something as small as not having your “achievements” register. Other people, who are “pro” players, and are simply trolling pains in the ass, should be banned from XBL altogether. Pro? Really? you have finished like 20 games out of 480…your lack of skills is astounding, Carnage.

    GS was fun when there WERE races and challenges. The reward program went away, and Old Spice stopped doing their challenges on 360 voice. There were plenty of games where I was one of the first to get the 1k, and that was an accomplishment I was proud of. GS now is virtually meaningless, as so many people cheat, hack, and pirate their way to however many points, and when someone with so few skills as Carnage can break 100k, it completely shows how pointless a person’s score is.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

    …and I apologize, Carnage, as you have played 580 games, not 480.

  • AutomaticOcelot

    @darkjester74: Actually I hate to burst any bubbles, but right now you can get Peggle direct from PopCap, for PC and Mac, with no Steam DRM, for $5. Peggle Nights is currently $20, as are nearly all new PopCap games.

    But I have been deliberately waiting for the XBLA version, so that’s where the points go tonight!

  • CARNAGE RULES

    Your idea of finishing a game is getting all the gamer points. You my friend are the definition of gamerscore whore. I checked your blog, the highest game you have is only 23 days played. YOU DON”T PLAY games you RAPE them for gamer points and leave them to die. I’m a PLAYER of good game and I’m rich so, I buy every one of them. If you want to talk skill then you’ll have to go play my kids first in order to get to the top dog. okay Steer or are you the other one.

  • bknight2k

    Peggle is awsome

  • CARNAGE RULES

    …and why is it necessary for MN to get the games early again and play them on his personal xbox? eeeeeend scene

  • CARNAGE RULES

    …and why is it necessary to tell us when you achieved 100k gamerscore and that you want 150k now??? LOSER

  • Exu

    Someone needs to be banned from posting here…

  • Exu

    Oh, AutomaticOcelot, go to the checkout and type in the code “blitz1″. ;D

  • oAssassin Xo

    Meh I won’t be getting this. I tried to reason why it would be worth it but I own it for PC. And for one its more expensive on live. And heck I can get Peggle Deluxe or whatever which includes more levels for like $10. (Which I own anyways). Online play isn’t worth it. Maybe when it goes down in price, which will be 400 no doubt.
    .
    .
    .
    BTW Carnage Rules. Buying every game doesn’t make you a gamer lmao. A good gamer is someone who is actually skilled at a game. I mean good enough that we all know who you are. For instance…is your name Fatal1ty? Or however he spells it. I doubt it. If you were really skilled you’d be at tournaments and not on a blog posting about how cool you are. lol…I believe you’ve been pwned sir!
    .
    .
    .
    And for the record everyone also knows achievements don’t mean jack anymore. 100,000 is not hard to get. I constantly see people still able to hack their 360, get easy points and still get online with Gold. Your points could be fake. Who knows. Who cares. Gamerscore is about as good as a nail in the foot. No one cares about it and no one really wants it. Its “Cool” status went away long ago.

  • CARNAGE RULES

    I don’t want to insult you but, please read my posts again. Your reading comprehension seems to be off a bit. My posts were in response to and directed at the comments made by Killer Scuzzy J. You’re either a friend of his or didn’t understand what was written. I’ll clear it up for you. #1 “Buying every game doesn’t make you a gamer lmao” I never said that because clearly that doesn’t make any sense at all. What I wrote about the games I own was a response to Mr. KILLER claiming I only finished 20 games. According to MR. KILLER a game is only finished when you own all gamerpoints. Everyone here must agree that is the dumbest thing they’ve heard. Is a game not finished when the credits role? Not according to MR. KILLER. …and KILLER I’ve got 40 retail games finished to your 50. #2 “A good gamer is someone who is actually skilled at a game. I mean good enough that we all know who you are.” Thats untrue 17 million+ users and you think you would know all the great players???? WHAT???…and I never said. I said “I was a player of good GAMES”. I’ll let my skill speak for it self against anyone I play with. #3 “If you were really skilled you’d be at tournaments and not on a blog posting about how cool you are.” Again What??? I don’t know haow old you are but, I have a family to support and playing in video game tournaments are for daydreaming little boys. Sorry if I insulted you there. I never wrote the word “cool” and you using pwned does tell me you’re on the young side. Last but not least #4 I think you’re confused on the gamerscore comment I made. I REALLY don’t give a rats @ss about gamerscore. I was refering to KILLER SCUZZY J’s bio. Where his gamerscore is sooo important that he has to make sure that we all know WHEN he reached 100k and he would also like to tell us that he’s going for 150k. Thanks for letting us know KILLER. I’ll be looking for that apology, oAssassin Xo. I’m not a troll unless troll means telling the truth. Sorry if the truth hurts. Some people just can’t take it.

  • litheon

    Carnage Rules et al, if you guys want to argue about something don’t clutter up the comments in Major’s blog posts to do so. Nobody else cares about your argument, your gamerscore, or most any of the other petty things you’re arguing about so you can take it up in private message by clicking on the name on somebody’s comment, and clicking “Start Conversation”.

  • HFC

    Yeah, I like. 800 points. Fair do’s.

  • HFC

    Kick ass Lith !Fricking kidzzzzz.

  • Exu

    @Assassin – This is Peggle Deluxe, same amount of levels.

  • Monhegan

    Great game. Try it and buy it!

  • Eviltattoo

    I have to agree…I was skeptical about Peggle, but after playing it, I think it’s a damn addicting game.
    One of the better casual games on XBLA.
    Too bad after I bought it, I found it on PopCap’s website for $5 for the PC.
    It would be cool though if Microsoft puts up Peggle Nights as DLC.

  • StaticFree

    Tried the demo last night and was hooked instantly. I can see now why people go on about how good and addictive Peggle is. I couldn’t resist buying it.

  • LawdaddyCO

    Is this game any fun? I think my wife may want it.

  • MrGreen13

    I love Peggle! Great buy at 800ms points! Can’t wait to get home for some more!

  • OS Perry

    Being able to preview NXE themes on my Xbox 360… or anywhere for that matter would be nice… like xbox.com. I guess you all are too busy coding/creating gold crowns for gold members to get the previewing of premium themes available. :) Cause Peggle has a Premium theme, and I’m getting tired of the old free Winter theme. But I’m not about to purchase a premium theme, without seeing it first.

    By the way Peggle is GREAT, and I want more Pinball FX tables.

    Xbox LIVE Arcade is superb for the most part… and I’m really enjoying the community games too.

  • Warrengonline

    Okay, I lasted one day. Peggle is awesome! The Battle is really nice too, loads of ‘peggle-o-maniacs’ out there. This going to be a good weekend starting with Friday the 13th (2nd one of 2009). I might just complete my pick up of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Peggle, The Maw, Resident Evil 5 and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts in one week. Almost a ‘Number of Games Purchased Back-to-Back in a Week in Two Days’ a record breaker for me.

    @Lith
    Thanks

    @Eviltattoo
    Thanks, I want it on PC too (EBGames was giving it out without even knowing what it was – wouldn’t you know it, I asked for it and they were out). Although they just got in codes for Trivial Pursuit – I’ll pass for now as I hardly play Scene It: BOS because it kicks players at random (including myself) when I play online. Nothing like being No.1 and you just drop out. Even worse if you are losing and you are kicked and we think you dropped because you were losing. Now I can watch NetFlix and play Peggle at the same time when I’m not working.

  • Protonus

    Ok um, I feel like I stepped into a Cult thread. Like everyone here is already brainwashed, and I’m out the outside wondering what the big deal is. I tried pebble and, I honestly can’t understand how someone could find it “awesome”, or “engaging/addicting” or even “fun”. How can you possibly predict where the ball is going to go after even 3 bounces? What is the the fun then? It’s like randomnly dropping a ball and crossing your fingers as the game plays itself. I just don’t find games that play themselves, (except perhaps RPG’s that at least have a story), to be engaging? Can someone explain to me what the “Draw” of this game is? If I want shiny graphics and neat sound effects, Geometry Wars seems like a much better way to spend your time? This game seems to have little to no actual skill involved. It reminds me of Brickles, without the ability to know which way your ball was going to go…

  • ToothlessFrog

    Sweet game! This is the kind of stuff I like. Well worth the $10 price tag (no more than that though, but still worth it). It’s a great pick up and play, luck with a touch of strategy game with loads of replay value. This is a worthwhile purchase for $10, I wish there were more $5 games, but as long as they cut it out with the $15 and $20 games, I’m fine with it.

  • BrooksterMax

    Great game :)

  • Schoon

    This game is great fun! My 3 year old loves watching me play it. I played through the entire Adventure mode yesterday after I bought it. Took me about 4 hours. Didn’t quite make the 20 million so I’ll have to go back through again and see if I can score higher so I can get that Achievement. Great fun and great value for $10, thanks for bringing this to Xbox Live!

  • ColinVI

    I will echo what has been said by just about everyone… Thank you for Releasing this Game, Thank you Popcap for this wonderful gem…However I must ask …When is Peggle Nights coming out ? ;)

  • Monster Warfare

    I wish I had points so I could buy this. I have it on PC and I love it!

  • Warrengonline

    Whoops, no Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, but I did score the hardcover strategy guide for RE5 – although I’ve only played Peggle Multiplayer.

    @Protonus
    Some games are not for everyone. We’re having fun in multiplater! Ultra Fever is

  • snaketide

    Been playing this a bit this weekend, and love it, but there have been fairly widespread reports that when playing online, if you try to ‘ready-up’ for another game whilst in the post-game lobby, you end up getting bounced back to the game type selection screen. Quite frustrating as you end up losing the group you’ve been playing with.

    Hopefully a patch will be forthcoming?

  • SeeUInTheFuture

    I wish I had points =(
