dammm, i thought this was modern warfare 2 at first!

  • Gamemaster3148

    A few months late….lol

  • Danowat32

Blimey, where did this come from? bit outta the blue ain’t it?, not to mention a tad late!!!!

  • Anonymous

    Erm whats the point ???

  • zorniki77

Nice. Finally I get to try it out. I wouldnt have bought it anyway, so that might change my feelings on the subject.

  • HgE F3RILLA VII

That weird, im in UK and I have an UK account! It says that this offer is not available in my region?

  • Xbox Sonic

why this demo??? I mean, CoD fans have bought it several months ago…okay, I mean, the demo comes too LATE.

  • krisxx

A demo can NEVER come too late. Everyone expects it before the game is released, which is what usually happens. But a demo, even months after the release, is never too late to sell more games.

  • tabicat

I think the timing is fine. I was thinking about getting this game, since so many of my Friends have it. Now I can try it out.

  • BidShelf

Sorry, this game isn’t available to your region!!

  • Computerdude103

I would like to see all games put out demo’s. And yes later is nicer in many cases because people can buy the game cheaper.

  • DarkMagic56

Too little, too late. This demo should of been out a month before the release of the actual game.

  • mattricks1983

Cool. Will give it a go (if it works!)

  • xSloppy

Thanks Major I will have to try this out

  • Magical Pro

    Awkwaaaarrrd.

  • Oatmeal25

Laughably late like everything Treyarch did with World at War. Was this released so everyone can experience grenade spamming and infinite respawning enemies?

To anyone that hasn’t played this game yet, skip it and go back to COD4.

  • A Place for Us

Oatmeal25: Grenade spamming / respawning enemies was on on Call of Duty 4. If you don’t like this tactic, don’t buy any future titles from either developers.

Anyway, will add this to my queue since I’ve not bought this one yet. I did enjoy Call of Duty 4 a lot and the beta for WaW.

  • TaintedAssasin

very strange thaat a demo is released so long after the actual game. i would imagine they are trying to rekindle the excitment about the game. i would imagine most who bought it on release have since gone back to (whit in my opinion) is a far better game in COD 4

  • darkjester74

Never played it on the console, I will give it a try

  • Anonymous

Better late than never, I guess..

  • Exu

    Bit late.

  • Anonymous

    uhhhh……ok…..

  • Obienator

The content is region locked, and no I am not Japanese.

  • HairyToeKnuckle

Not too late for all of us. I never played WaW as there were bigger titles I wanted first. I welcome the demo.

  • RashestHippo

What is the point. Why cant they release it before the game is out. Iam sure a month or two before the game launches they have the first level done. This makes xbox look bad i think.

  • RidinSlow

krissxx said: “… a demo, even months after the release, is never too late to sell more games…”

Good point. I prefer demo’s before release, but from a marketing standpoint it might be better to wait until later to get another boost in sales. A demo months later brings the game back into the spotlight for a few weeks and sales can benefit from that.

Although I am proud that Tryarch created such a good game this time around; I still have to only support Infinity Ward.

I do applaud Activision for using 2 developers to bring out yearly releases of the CoD IP. I wish EA would learn this lesson for their sports *cough*Madden*cough* games. This gives each developer at least 2 years between release to figure out what they are going to do and polish the title.

  • HPColFrost

I guess i’ll give it another look, I love the Call of Duty series but iv’e refrained from purchasing this one because I am so unbelievably sick of fighting World War 2! But perhaps this will change my opinion, if it doesn’t i’m just waiting for Modern Warfare 2 =)

  • MeS FEAR

a littlebit late but its cool anyway….i dont have this game so i can try it now

  • Carl72x

Great! the only thing that would make this better is being able to boot my console from the web after I queue the d/l up. This way I won’t have to wait for a bit after I turn on my box to play it. It would also be cool to have a pop-up when I sign in to the console the first time after a download is done to remind me of all of the content I tend to forget I d/l a few days before.

    Just a thought…

  • OperatingSumo

I understand why a demo comes out after a game has hit the market. It will help sell a more copies. IMO waiting until now to release a demo is way too late.

    @Carl72x
I’d just like a fix for the painfully slow marketplace and Guide.

I’m sick of pressing the guide button mid game when a friend comes online and waiting 20 seconds whilst the guide locks up before I can go and invite them in.

I’m also sick of the marketplace being so damn slow with my profile. I select a new community game, wait 10-20 seconds before I can select Get Trial Game, then wait 10-20 seconds before I can confirm etc etc. This doesn’t happen on my flat mate’s profile AT ALL. So it’s not connection related. Perhaps something to do with the licencing seeing as I have downloads A LOT on my profile compared to his.

Soo Major, any news of a fix for this?
Just check out the xbox.com forums and you’ll see loads of people complaining about locked up guides and slow marketplaces.

  • Drunk Ste

    @Col J Matrix UK
I have the same problem but sometimes I have to wait up to a minute, seriously I’m not exaggerating, even with a 2mb internet connection it’s a joke. I’ve started using the marketplace on xbox.com which is still slow but better than using my 360.
My download history has about 1200 items on it, I’ve played over 100 games and I’ve deleted all the trial games from my gamer card. My profiles file size is up to 19MB, its good job I have a hard drive and not a crappy 64MB memory card.

  • RidinSlow

    @Col J Matrix UK

The marketplace is really slow for me also. I’ll go to download a trial or demo and it will take several seconds for the “Download Demo” button will highlight. It’s really annoying.

I know it’s not my internet connection. I’ve had that tested and I usually get around 4-6 Mb/s downloads.

It seems to me that the indexing on the background database needs some cleanup or there is too much database activity per request which causes slow response times, especially when large groups of people are accessing the same tables. I’m looking at this from a web developer perspective, so maybe I am wrong. But if Marketplace works like a website, then those would be the first things I look at.

The Guide actually loads faster now than it did before the NXE, but the Marketplace is slower and it was already slow before the NXE update.

  • Twilight Miasma

I don’t have plans to pick up WaW since it’s ANOTHER WWII GAME! But I’ll at least give the demo a try, just for the benefit of the doubt.

  • Oatmeal25

Absyrtus. You’re right. I may not really like the way the COD franchise forces you to stay on an invisible path and at an unspecified pace (wander around or move too fast or slow and more enemies and/or grenades will magically appear and kill you.)

The real strength of COD4 was the multiplayer and Treyarch screwed it up because of the nature of WWII weapons, the dogs kill you and lead the enemy to your location and they took too long to fix the vulnerabilities.

  • Col J Matrix UK

Yep something is VERY wrong with the marketplace and I think those gettings guide problems is very much related.
It seems to me that the gamerpics cause the guide to lock up.

Something needs to be optimized at Microsoft’s end very soon as more and more users begin to download more and more and subsequently their profiles get this problem.

So Major, please please, if you’re reading, bring this up to the technical team.

Everytime I bring it up on the forums some twit who sits there all day posts a link to previous threads (seriously do people sit on forums ALL DAY), rather than getting people to really speak out.

  • X Ray Hamburger

Lol I wait forever for this demo to come out so I can try it out, and finally when I just decide to order it, a demo is released.

  • OSUZOO08

Not surprised with this demo, lately there has been a lot of TV adds for the game. Maybe Activison want’s to get a second round of people buying it before the new DLC comes out.

  • BrooksterMax

thanks for the demo, love COD4, would like to try WAW first.

  • Placebo PRS

Hmm since when was Sweden part of Japan?

  • Warp3

On the flip side of the “why so late” comments:

    1) I don’t recall there ever being a demo for Call of Duty 4. In fact, COD2 is the only demo I’ve ever seen for the entire COD series on the XBL marketplace.

    2) COD:WaW did have a pre-release multiplayer beta, the last week or so of which was open to the public (not just those with beta keys).

    3) The COD:WaW DLC map pack is coming out next week, so releasing the demo to trigger sales beforehand does make sense from a marketing standpoint.

  • Evocore RINALDO

can’t download it, its like almost all european countries are forbidden to download it. when Europe start to be part of Japan????

  • Shadow0810

what’s the point of this? The people who liked the game bought it. The people who didn’t like it (Me and all my friends) didn’t buy it. And those who haven’t heard of it…um…don’t exist.
