Wow, interesting idea by EA. Just the tourney with this year’s teams for $15?

  • Lucky 13 X

    Major,

The download link lists the game as published by Xbox Live Arcade, but this is only a standalone Xbox Live Marketplace title and should not have a trial version like other Arcade games right?

It’s more like an Xbox Original, except it’s a 360 game. So technically, it’s an XBLA Original game.

  • Exu

Sounds alright, if it’s essentially a cheap version of a retail game. Basketball’s not my thing though.

As for it saying it’s an Arcade game, maybe the website doesn’t yet have a downloadable full game category. I mean, there’s just this and Tomb Raider Anniv. for the time being.

Would like to see more of this sort of thing though.

  • Exu

Oh hang on, US only. Oh well, little consequence to me.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

This game has me a little confused…isn’t there a retail game called NCAA March Madness 09, made by EA? So this version, which is only the tourney, still doesn’t have player names, has little to no features of the full version, comes with 4 achvs, and is $15? I think I will pass. When a quality XBLA game like Peggle and The Maw can sell for 800pts, I can’t see how a stripped down, “use this year only” sports title (made by “we are closing the servers down” EA, no less) can be sold for 1200.

  • FlimFlan

So… how do they know which 64 teams to include? Do you have to wait until Sunday (when the teams are announced) to play the game?

  • Wil is America

I was just going to post that FlimFlan…

  • TARANTULAS 14

I think they said they put in last years teams but they will update it when this years teams are announced

  • Cowboys59

No there is not a game called March Madness 09. EA dropped the March Madness and called it NCAA Basketball 09. If you will notice, this isn’t called March Madness either. It’s called NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition. It still doesn’t make sense to release it now since the conference tournaments just got into full swing today and there is no way they can remotely know who is going to be in the 64 team field.

  • CARNAGE RULES

This is lame. It’s clear EA is trying to price gouge this years NCAA basketball game.
    NCAA Basketball 07 & 08 = 60.00 09 = 60.00 + 15.00 Wont happen.

  • Mcmax3000

It’s probably worth noting that the game is also available on Marketplace in Canada as well & while I personally have little to no interest in the game, a trial version would be nice.

  • Banky71

Sooooooo the game freezes when ever you try to play the game making it pretty worthless. It happens to the three other people I know who bought it. You can’t even play one half with out it freezing.

  • Quicksand

It works for me fine and I think it was a great idea since I do not have NCAA Basketball 09. For 15 bucks your getting an almost full fledged retail game being treated as a XBLA title. Good stuff!

  • Goodeye84

What a freaking rip off! Way striped down and charging $15 for it. WTF!

  • Shonk

Servers will be turned off the end of the year
