Map packs for Gears of War are kind of redundant. Sure they are usually great maps, but the only time they ever come up in rotation is if you are the specific map pack’s playlist. Then, once you start playing the same maps over and over (sometimes the same map two or three times in a row), you begin to grow tired of them and go back to the original maps.

I wish there was a playlist that only allowed players with all maps (and thus, each map has the same chance of showing up) to select.

Also, did anyone see the announcement yet for Max Payne 3? Rockstar just announced it!

As for the Gears 2 content… meh, not after last time. And the multiplayer is still rubbish now too.

Wow because the first thing I want to do at the start of spring is go back to winter set maps… Pass Make some new maps for Gears 1 though and I’d happily purchase.

I think it’s a little too late to purchase new maps for Gears 2 – for obvious reasons. Not to mention I might not want to pay full price for 2 new maps and 2 old.
Release the combustible for free, and not reduced to 600 – the price it should have been in the first way, and I might forgive you.

Probably wait for the Halo 3 expansion for the new maps.

Couple questions: Do you have to buy the Legendary Map Pack to use the Mythic Map Pack? Will the Legendary Map pack become free?

About time you announced this weeks XBLA title. What with the big mess up last week with Xbox UK putting the (wrong) dates on the Days of Arcade Promo Section, it would be nice to know if it’s Outrun or Uno Rush.

Really looking forward to the new Halo maps. Gears has lost me and this the first map pack for it I won’t be buying… Gears multiplayer has some great moments but the frustration of watching your an opponent run through 3 point blank shotgun blasts to kill you in one shot is just too much to overcome.

@Exu: I’ll be glad to have more people on Mythic. I was playing the other night and ended up with game after game of griefers and quitters. I think I played five games that ended up being a 4-on-1 match after the rest of the team quit. >:[

@Bungie: But when are the *rest* of the maps coming? The achievements reference maps called “Citadel” and “Longshot” and one other I can’t remember off the top of my head…

Great, now I have to pay 800 points for 3 maps if I want to play in 90% o Halo 3 MP modes… they should make it optional, they don’t do it just because they want people to buy the maps…. argh.

I wish they brought back the DLC playlists too, I paid for the DLC and yet games always get played on non-dlc maps, even on the dlc requiring playlists.

@JohnnyricoMC – COD map pack was 800 points and it was only 3 maps, didn’t see anyone complaining about those, and it was so buys it took down the PSN and xbox live for a day!!!

Everyone already knew it was coming out on the 9th.

I don’t think I’ll be picking up either map packs since a buddy of mine has my copy of halo 3 and I don’t play gears of war 2 anymore. Besides I don’t have the money to be buying all these points.

Glad i waited for mythic map pack for halo 3. Hopefully I can still snag one in a contest or twitter but now i know when i can buy it if i miss out on getting it free.

Hey, how about some free content for Halo 3… I just saw an article that says it’s headed for the 19.99 bargain bin, so why not build interest for ODST by giving away some content. That would generate so much hype for the new game. Just think of the massive teabagging!

I second that for Gears. ANY, SPECIFIC should be the choices for maps. Day One is my Fave and the Emulsion one one the Combustable is cool too. Would have been nice to have ‘Emulsion Fatality’ if you sniped or blown in by proximity mine with the bodies being disintegrated ala The Pit from MK2. If the boys buy’em (and IF I have room), I’m buy’in even though I only play once in a while. Mercenary Mode on RE5 is just beautiful. 2 player, but beautiful.

If you guys don’t want them, then don’t buy them. You complaining about how everything should be free is pointless. If you spent time and money making something, I don’t think you would want to just give it away. Now, discounting old content when new content comes out is plausible and hopefully will happen.

Well if Gears 2 is still broken after the new update tomorrow I doubt I’ll buy the new map pack.

I’m with you OS Perry, I keep checking on the site to see what XBLArcade release we are having this week. Keeping my fingers crossed for either Puzzle Quest Galactrix or The Dishwasher Dead Samuri. Also some cool stuff from GDC would be cool as well.

Epic needs to fix the matchmaking and the lag first, they wont succeed if they dont! Many of my friends stopped playin it because of the LAG!

I think UNO Rush is coming out this week.

Guess I’ll be enjoying Team Mythic while I still can, may give Gears of War 2 a shot after the Title Update tomorrow morning.

What are you waiting for? Get it, skip the discount. I’m not usually a buyer or a pusher for DLC maps, but the Combustible Map Pack was an auto-buy on the following weekend for me, even though I told the guys I was not buy’in them. Though the set is only 3 maps in the pack and no achievements therein, 800 points is still a nice price.

This game has been in need of a region filter for a LONG time and many other fixes.. We need dedicated servers and enough of this terrible service! Finally a possible fix and no compensation? Wow, I’ll keep my money next time Epic release a game.

SalamanderSkill: Indeed. Gears2 MP has been the biggest and most bitter disappointment in the history of gaming for me. So much promise for the franchise derailed by such incredible incompetence.

My friend lured me into playing Gears2 again after a couple months hiatus, and it ruined my day and the next morning. The games were so laggy I couldnt hit a damn thing and people were calling me a bridger cause of my rank which is 4 for some reason (yes even the ranking is BROKEN).

1600(+400) points for maps for a game that makes me want to break the 360 in half over my knee.. NO THANKS!

I’ll happily play Gears1 any day of the week.. though even it now reminds me of how Epic let me and my friends down so bad.

A shame I wont get to play the new Halo maps, my 4th Xbox just died yesterday afternoon. And apparently my Service contract that expires March of 2010 is not valid… so right on.

I was actually planning on buying then until last thursday when I saw that there were new maps coming, so now I want to just wait a bit longer and see. I just dont want to play full and then have them go on sale the week after.

Already got the Mythic maps, skipping on the Gears maps. It will be nice to have more players in the mythic playlist.

Hmm, I understand that. I bought Assault Heroes full price and the following week it was half off. I mean, it is a fun game, but the levels are so dagburn long I fall asleep playing it. And the same for some other game I don’t play – I can’t remember. but even if there is not discount on those maps, get them, they are fun. Oh, I’m sorry, I was wrong there IS an achievement attained with the Combustible Map Pack – Trial by, and on, Fire for 20 Gamer Points. Which reminds me, they need to fix some spawn points for where the Locust spawn in dead end guarded areas. “What’s that noise?” “I don’t know… sounds like a HOOOOORSE! BEHIND YOU – BEHIND YOU!” Its a good laugh afterwards but it is a pain during.

Are they going to be region locked?

Before I buy the GOW2 maps, I first need to convince myself that I really want to play this game. The single player was just fantastic and I enjoyed ever minute, but the multiplayer still sucks. Horde is an exception, but who wants to play Horde all the time? Please Cliff, patch the Online mode!

played on multiplayer for the first time in months last night and it has never been worse, some mexican guy hosting, must have got 18 kills on a warzone match, not one other player got a kill, lag, dotting team mates and none firing weapons?? simply not good enough. it is now up for sale, this probably makes this game the worst i have ever played on, no matter how good the single player mode is. i will not buy a gears of war 3, not worth it.
