What is happening with Community games in the rest of the Xbox Live regions..? Here in Sweden, we don’t have access to the Community games, even though some games are developed by Swedish developers in Sweden… I was curious about Kodu, until I realized that it will be released through the Community games channel (i.e. not available in my region). Please update us on what is happening.

  • NeedlerFanPudge

No 800 point board games made the top ten? What a surprise…

  • LivinItUp

I’m happy to see none of the Hasbro titles on that list, although they were just released last Wednesday. I hope their absence continues, thereby showing EA and MS that charging $10 for each of those titles is highway robbery.

  • twisted poke

First time I can remember that the newest arcade title didn’t chart. Glad to see people didn’t buy the overpriced games last week.

  • Jicky Jacks

Ha, no Hasbro board game titles make the top ten. I think no will be surprised by that.

  • Exu

Hehe, glad to see they didn’t pull the dirty trick of counting each room download as a “purchase”.

That said, can they really chart? The games are, for all intents and purposes, add-ons. How about an add-on chart, Major?

  • oue

I didn’t even download it. You have to download the free Hasbro then add your 9 plus $10 games. I think even if you download the FREE Hasbro main page it might so up next week in the TOP 10. Even without any of those $10 games.

  • VILIUS169

good to see COD WaW on top.

  • Quicksilver4648

I see World At War took the lead with the new map pack, but I am sure things might change once the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack releases on April 9th.

  • oxymoronx420

Wow, L4D is taking a beating…. They’re gonna be out of the top 10 by the time the DLC comes out.

  • amacvane

Hoorah for Hasbro not making the list. As far as counting the the Game Room downloads, people wouldn’t download it who did not have the intention of buying a game. Either way, that insult is not making it to the Top 10.

  • emuholic

Great news to see none of the Hasbro games made the top ten! I hope this is a wake up call to them and others who think overcharging for XBLA games will work :)

  • Rell192

Will new Gears of War 2 maps help boost it? We’ll see.

  • wolfzero01

I am shocked that the Hasbro games didn’t make the top 10

glad to see that many people realized what a rip-off they are :)

  • skyfire420

nice to see RE5 doing so well.

  • DJ Double J

I’m glad to see that the community has spoken. Hopefully the boys over at EA (Extortion Artists) are taking notes.

  • Warrengonline

    @Jicky Jacks
Wow, the hate for Hasbro’s pricing. I checked the leaderboards for Scrabble (before deleting it) and it was loaded with full game entries. But the weird thing is, the trial shows up as ‘previously played’ even when I did not purchase it. It shows on your gamercard too or did you buy it? oue, I wondered that too about some games in the past as it was hard to find quickmatch opponents, just like Capcom’s Puzzle Fighter HD Remix. Let’s hope not as that is not good research information.

RE5 would be higher if more people who are on the fence would just rent it and play up to Chapter 3 and see how fun the game truly is and how the replay value is extremely high when you unlock the weapons of the game such as the Acid Rounds for the grenade launch – it is quite funny to see enemies squirm when shot with it.

Oh nooooo, SFIV is not on the charts. By last blogcast’s numbers in the 400k copies sold; I was expecting higher numbers. We need a six man Opponent/Challenger Lobby + a spectate ONLY mode. Youtube suffices, but there is nothing like watching a ‘live’ fight.

“Peggle you have made a special place forever in my heart as I never get enough of you.”

  • xSloppy

I had really high hopes for these community games, but all I see are games that I wouldn’t bother playing on my web browser.

  • Pandapadawan

@xSloppy: The list never made sense to me and I guess it never will. Only the crappiest games ever make it in the top 10 while great games that cost 200 points as well never show up. For God’s sake, who would actually want to buy Fading Memories? You wiggle both sticks around and that’s it. There’s no game. It’s just mindless wiggling. Do people buy these games for their 3 year old children? Or their pets? Or just by accident?

  • Ark Hunter

LOL @ Hasbro with everyone else.

It’s pretty impressive COD can have the latest two games in the top 3. If Gears wasn’t out I think they’d be in the 1 & 2 spots. I assume Halo will over take both when the new maps come out for every one though. At least for a short time.

  • II W4RLORD II

    LMAO,Halo Wars didn’t last long,as expected.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

Check #7 on the 360 list.

  • II W4RLORD II

yeah #7,i saw that my, point exactly.

  • AriesDog

Nice to see Guitar Hero World Tour returning to the list. Was getting worried that gamers were getting tired of music games.

  • Makavelo

no Street fighter on the 360 o Arcade list? :( .

RE5 is great glad to see it surpass GoW2 because it sucks even with TU3 and if you want a true Horror game play F.E.A.R 2 that game is awesome

  • branDONEson

We need RB2 back there. No GHWT.

  • FINKnATOR

    Res5, Gears2, and HaloWars…. great games… :D
I too would rather see RockBand2 than GHWT on there… it is a superior game in almost all ways

  • Mcmax3000

The reason the Hasbro Family Game Night won’t show up on the Arcade list is because the actual game is free (hence, cannot be purchased & therefore won’t count on the purchased games list) & the actual games are all classified as DLC.

It’s also the reason why the game will show up on your Gamercard even if you don’t buy any of the actual board games.

  • The 7raveler

@ Mcmax: That’s not true. Dash of destruction was free and was number 1 the week it came out.

  • JohnnyricoMC

Major, where is the “community” part when most european XBL nations get left out?

Can you please talk with your colleague responsible for the european content management and finally have it arranged so we too can run community games?
Pretty please with sugar on top of it?

  • SniperED007

    “TV Calibration” really !

  • Shonk

    Yey Shove it ea

really glad to see that not alot of idiots paid for the board games

  • Monster Warfare

Love WaW and the new maps.

  • Noctys

Just adding in that I too am glad the Family Game Night made very few sales. I would put forth that everyone should download the basic “player” & all the free game rooms to show that you want the games but are not willing to pay $10 a game for them. My advice to Hasbro would be to release the games @ $5 each and all of them for $15.

  • Mcmax3000

    @The 7raveler

    Nope:
    http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/12/23/live-activity-for-week-of-december-15th.aspx

It was pretty high on the Most Played list but didn’t appear on the purchased games list.

  • Rykin Poe

Nice to see the Community Game data here. I really wish you and E would cover them a bit in your podcast as well. Maybe get some interviews with creators and such.

  • Anonymous

Alright, looks like the children who play Halo 3 got beat out again. Oh and no more Street Fighter. That’s great too. Oh and people are probably curious why Street Fighter isn’t up there. Well, here it is. IT’S FRIGGEN CHEESY! They should call it Cheese Fighter IV. Yes, I played it online and I enjoyed it somewhat, but it really is one of the most cheesiest games I’ve ever played. It’s so cheesy, that it would always make me crave pizza when I played.

  • Anonymous

    “LMAO,Halo Wars didn’t last long,as expected.”

Roger that man. I bought that game at midnight because they promised a rich stategy experience. Turns out it’s the same vanillia bull s#%t as all the other RTS games. Horde resources, build as many powerful units as possible, stream roll, ECT. No strategy. I mean, that’s not what war is like.

Strategy is about flanking, and fire power. Game devs, you guys need to learn from Total War.

  • TSA jpicard

I personally Play halo wars like every night im free from misses commitments with a few buddies I know from work or what ever and have a good night of gaming. Halo wars is a great game cant wait for DLC or halo wars 2.

  • Barb130

I have a question about the map pack. I bought it and played online a few times but I have yet to see one of the new maps. Granted I have been playing WAR… but if the new maps aren’t acailable for all gameplay modes that should have been made clear… I don’t really like deathmatch/Team deathmatch and if the maps aren’t avaialable for other moddes I will be really mad

  • Nod Nolan

    @ Barb130

at the moment there is separate playlist for the Downloadble maps, in the multiplayer options below the “hardcore” games option

they’re going to be integrated into the normal playlists later

  • Blue Thunder28

    Peggle!

  • Searing Wave

MaimKILLRepeat, I think you ought to get your brain back inside your head. “Children” play most games, and you’ll find that most adult gamers also play Halo 3. Plenty of too-young-for-the-rating kids also play Call of Duty, and I might add seem more obnoxious there. In addition, your opinion of Halo Wars is noted, but not law. I think it’s a terrific game, and merely because it fell one notch on the list does not mean it “didn’t last long.” Enough angst. Ease up.

World at War will probably enjoy a short-lived boost due to the map pack, but I’m certainly not downloading anything that will cost Microsoft Points for that game. Not worth it in the least, in my opinion. The game is a poor impersonator of Call of Duty 4 with World War II flavoring.

At least the general public will now be able to enjoy the Mythic Map Pack come 4/09/09. It’s spectacular. Bungie has yet to disappoint.

Hopefully Gears of War 2 will see some more action, considering that I believe the latest title update is a huge improvement. If this were what the game was like at launch, it would have fared so much better. Too bad Epic couldn’t fix these things before release.

  • MetalGearFloppy

Here’s hoping L4D can hang in there til mid-April when the free DLC arrives… much anticipated, so don’t screw us over by changing it to PDLC microsoft, m’kay!

Also, good to see no sign of that extortion that was the Hasbro Family Rip-Off Night… lolz

  • Warrengonline

    @MaimKILLRepeat
Yeh, the ‘cheese’ is turn to MAXIMUM for online play ranked matches on SFIV. Most of my friends only play against each other. I almost got barred because I resorted to throwing and most started complaining about, even my own cousin. He pointed out that I’ve never thrown so much in ANY Street Fighter, and in Street Fighter Alpha 3 (MY personal fave), I NEVER threw opponent and played for the battle, not for the win. Yes, I won majority of the time. Un-training myself not to throw was hard, especially with Zangief, man it was hard. Next time Capcom should have it where throwing is three punch buttons instead of one or two. Also, like SNES SFIIHF, they should give the option to turn off special moves – as that makes hand-to-hand combat more diverse and less jumpkicking and sweeping all the time. I’ve also learned I’ve become too dependent of my dragon punch. :(

  • MeS FEAR

Damn….L4D is dying without any DLC :( Valve why it takes so long? Hope to see the DLC soon

  • STANNY

Is there anywhere we can see which addons are most downloaded? Im interested to see what addons are purchased most, Particularly regarding tracks for the music games!
