It’s almost as if M$ don’t want anyone to play this.

  • Xebu

For all I like most of the arcade games the new price points, 1600/1200 are ridiculous compared to 800/400 of days gone by.

After a couple of months you can pick up most FULL games for around this price if you shop around and don’t mind pre-owned and then you can part-ex when you’re done as well!

No way I’m dropping this much ANY game I can’t recycle!

Penny Arcade got some attention now it’s 800 and for that it’s good value, 1600 it is not worth though.

  • Helvedeshunden

Wow. I’ve bought bought some 40 arcade titles, but I guess my days of buying XBLA games are over.

Giving us the shaft only ends up hurting yourselves in the end guys.

  • Atleticoinomano

    ¿1600 points? No, thank you.

In 4 months, “Deal: Puzzle Quest Galactrix 800 MP”. I’ll wait.

I’ve bought some 120 titles, but, as Helvedeshunen, I guess my days of buying XBLA games are over. 1600 Points… What a madness…

  • Xssassin

1600 points for a puzzle game! No thanks!
When are you guys gonna learn, no one wants or likes these new price points.

I’ve just bought seven brand new sealed full retail games all for under the price of this in the easter sales.

I’m no stranger to XBLA purchases, having 84 of them on my Elite HD (now including Penny Arcade at 800 points), but I’m never going to pay this much for an XBLA game, a game I cannot trade in, cannot have a physical copy of or get a refund on.

It should be pointed out that this is actually the cheapest version of PQ Galatrix going around.
So this ain’t such a bad deal really.

Check out the DS version and Steam version.

I won’t be buying this myself, but MS aren’t in the wrong charging 1600pts for this.
Some things are actually worth their high price.

  • Euphoric Fusion

If it is being sold at retail for the DS, then maybe they should sell it retail for the 360 and NOT through LIVE Arcade.
The arcade has always been about reasonably priced games that are quick to play.
1600 points is not an impulse buying price and as such should not been seen on marketplace.
Keep it to the high street.

  • Der Archivar

Pricing for this game on Amazon or Steam is 20 Dollar too. So I don’t go with the “Oh my god! Greedy MS!” screamers. I have to take a look on the demo though, since it got merely lukewarm reviews.

  • DiamantLocust91

I’ve already bought the first one, and had a great time with it. I didn’t hesitate to buy this one (on marketplace via xbox.com, I’ll download it after the office). Think about it : it’s more expensive on DS (almost 30 € on DS versus almost 20 € on XBL). Ok it’s more expensive than some othe games on XBL, mais I’m just a fan of PQ.

GOD SAKE MICROSOFT your are a Joke.

This 1200 / 1600 points an arcade game, is stupid now.

WHERE IN A TIME OF MONEY CRISES.

What do get off charging stupid prices for crappy arcade games ?

I thought the idea of the arcade was cheap and cheerful games you could pick up and play and not feel your pocket emptying ??

but no, the prices are a joke, I’m not and haven’t bought any arcades titles at the moment and won’t until you review the there prices.

    What happened to 400 / 800 points ???

oh sorry you still need to make money, yer so do we all.

I’d bet you’d sell more if you put prices to a better level, but no you won’t cos you like making a console that doesn’t work properly then ripping your consumers off with over priced content.

    One well pissed customer.

  • emuholic

I have played this game on the DS and it is not as good as its predecessor. I found it tedious having to constantly unlock the gateways to progress in the game, a boring story and mostly boring battles with VERY obvious cheating AI. It got to the point where I was spending more time unlocking pointless gateways than actually fighting any enemies.

Save your points or buy Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords which is a much better game and great value for money, now at 800 points if I remember right.

  • IncredibleBulk9

1600 is a lot for an XBLA game, I might have bought this for 1200 but by all accounts this is a worse game than the original Puzzle Quest was. I might buy it if there’s a 50% off sale but even then it’s 800 points for a game that is apparently incredibly repetitive.

  • Mr Barrel Roll

So then I take it Peggle will be the last good arcade game that I’ll actually buy?

800 points for a great game. Unless something that costs twice as much is twice as much fun as Peggle, I don’t see myself buying it.

  • Stormgeist

It’s worth the money, considering the massive amount of content.
You griefers obviously didn’t play the last one, which was similarly priced and also worth the money. There’s more content here than most $60 games.

Think of PQ 1 as the Oblivion of live arcade games, and PQ 2 as the Fallout 3 of them.

I’ve probably put around 200 hrs. into the first one, still have a lot of things to do, and haven’t even begun the expansion pack yet. I can easily see a 400 plus hr. total before I’m done with it – Roughly on par with the average amount of time I’ve put into EACH (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3) of Bethesda’s RPG epics.

I guarantee that everyone in this topic has paid much more for much less.

  • Shadow0810

I don’t see how you all think MS sets the prices! It’s the same price on Steam MS doesn’t set those prices it’s the publishers guys. And no, I will not buy this game b/c its overpriced and sucks.

  • MrGreen13

I will stick with the original…with the bad reviews and high price tag, I will pass. If I have a taste for a Puzzle Quest game, I will play the original…which they got right. I have heard the new one is VERY repetitive.

And to Stormgeist….if you have put in 200 hours into puzzle quest, good for you (great game)although I don’t believe that it has that much content to keep me occupied for that long. I just refuse to pay $20 for a rehashed game that doesnt even deliver what the first did….to each their own.

  • Blitzkrieg047

I wish you guys would stop whining, it’s the MSRP on PC. It’s not Microsoft’s fault, jesus.

  • Euphoric Fusion

It’s just a lame version of Hexic.
The demo sucked and as such I am not buying. But I’m glad I did my bit to bring the game’s conversion rate down ;-)

  • PzR Tak

    @T360UK Chief
What on earth has it got to do with Hexic? The mechanics are totally different, no flowers, or pearls, you match in lines, not clusters, etc. etc. The ONLY similiarity is the fact it takes place with hexagonal pieces.

  • SkinnerY2K

Lol, 1600 are you for real Microshaft?

Major does any of this get back to MS b/c it’s a joke. They’ve obviously not heard there’s a global economic crisis going on.

They should be giving stuff away to keep people buying not outting it up

  • Exu

Wow, this game is incredibly dull. Dull dull dull dull DULL!
I was able to stomach about three minutes before I quit to dashboard and deleted the trial, it was that bad. Oh and overpriced, obviously.

  • rowe33

Already bought & played (& quickly tired of) the PC version…I’m glad this came out so much later as I probably would’ve bought it on both platforms for a simultaneous release. Saved $20! Really disappointing follow-up to the amazing original game.

  • KaYotiX

If it was 1200 pts id prolly nab it but 1600??? Ill pass till it drops in price.

  • oAssassin Xo

LMAO!!! 1600???? Ok is this an April Fools joke? LMAO!! I seen Flock for 1200 and laughed…but then I seen this game for 1600. MS does realize the whole “economy crashing” thing right? See…when this happens you are suppose to LOWER prices this way people spend more and boost the economy. Not raise them so they spend less. lol. Obviously they have morons working at MS that no nothing about they way things work. They are more worried about what a game is worth then whats going on in the world.
    .
    .
Speaking of which. Just because some gamers still buy this game doesn’t mean everyone can. I hate seeing that “Well I bought it!”. Wow good for the 100 people that still have jobs, or have money now. Its harder for people now so less and less can afford these games. At least not for what they are getting out of it.

  • rastansaga

the DS version was crap and i hear this one is no better.

  • Red Dragon

Out of my price range, like most recent games on XBLA. When will they add more titles to Arcade Hits? Maybe then I can get something new.

  • Whetzel

I just wanted to get my voice out there and say pretty much the same thing everyone else is saying. I will not pay this much money for these types of games. I use to buy a few arcade games a month, but I hardly ever buy them anymore. These prices are WAY too high for what you get. Rock Band tracks are pretty much the only thing I will continue to buy. Way to go Microsoft.

  • CheekyLeeth

You have not learned a thing. This week was your last chance. Time to cancel my subscription.

  • Shael

I don’t care what game it is because for me, 800 MS points is the MOST I will pay for an Arcade title. Hell, Symphony of the Night (arguably THE greatest Castlevania of all time) is only 800 points.

I’d have bought BOTH this and Flock if each were 800 but nooooo, costs 1200 and the other 1600…which is amazing. Amazingly stupid! Now I’m waiting to see how PSN prices this…because there have been some amazing price differences between the two in my Live and PSN region (Asia) (SF2HD was 1200 on Live (~$25) whereas it was only $15 on PSN. Hopefully these two follow suit…

The blame though…falls on everybody. MS for thinking they can get away with this, the publishers thinking gamers will gobble everything up and we gamers as well…or rather those who gave the green light to those in charge of pricing by gobbling up Braid, Castle Crashers and those Penny Arcade games. Good games but not 1200 good. See where that gets us now? 1200 is the new 800.

  • Guibs

Unfortunately, this is too expensive for me. Damn, I was looking forward to this game. I love the original one but the original one, even at 1200mspt, was about the max I was willing to pay for an Arcade game. Not that I can’t afford it, but it’s base principal.

For us Canadian, that’s almost 30$. It’s cheaper for me to buy it off steam on the PC and pay the money conversion difference off Steam. but I wanted to play that game on my HDTV on my couch. Guess Not.

I also miss the days that 800mspts was the norm. ThaT’s my break point, after 800mspts, it needs to be exeptionnal for me to spend points on.

  • ToothlessFrog

Just to add my 2 cents worth: Was looking forward to, but will not buy it. Lately the arcade has become a rip-off land.

Wanted the Hasbro collection… found the Wii version (which comes with all games except Srabble) for $34.99. Do the math. And what I got was a physical copy, not a download that will become a hassle when my 360 dies (which it did recently, and now I’m waiting for it to come back!).

C’mon MS, pressure not only yourselves but those who are making the games to give a lower price point for non-manufactered goods (ie downloadable software) for the money they are saving to not have to put it on disc.

This not only makes me sad, because I used to love the arcade, but it’s just mind boggling that MS would allow and support this!

  • inajeep

Too much. If I got the DS version at least my son could play it in his DS and my youngest son can play it in his DSi in a few years when he’s old enough to have one.
