Some of the technology I use to get my job done

I often get asked what type of consumer electronics I use on a daily basis at Xbox. On this page, you’ll find a list of what I am using, and I’ll try to update it on a regular basis. If you have any questions, feel free to email at Major at Xbox-dot com.

PC:
I have a Dell Optiplex 755 my desktop with a Dell monitor. I also have a Thinkpad T60p laptop with the latest build of Window 7 and the Office suite

Mac:
I have an early 2008 Mac Book Pro running OSX Leopard with all the latest updates. Some of the apps I have installed on the Mac side include Office: Mac 2008 and VMware Fusion with Windows 7 running in a virtual machine

Using Boot Camp, I have a partition set up as Windows Vista  SP1 with all the latest updates.  On my Vista partition, I have the Office Enterprise 2007 suite installed.

I also edit my Podcasts when I am in Vista. For more information on what I use to produce my podcasts, read this page.

Q: Wait. What? You have a Mac! You work at Microsoft. Won’t that get you fired ?
A: As far as I know, no one has ever been fired at the company for using a Mac. In fact, Microsoft is a huge supporter of Apple and one of the largest producers of Mac software. You can read a little about it in this story from a local Seattle newspaper. In short, I use the best tool for whatever job I am trying to do at the moment. Sometimes it’s in OSX, other times it is in Windows.
