Got for Games For Windows Live, installing now. Let’s hope it’s not a big ordeal like last time. The trailer for this looks great.

  • Ganon255

So I have downloaded it(GFWL) and tried to install it 3 times now. All 3 times it says “can’t install”. I really hope it’s just me.

  • MartinChris

My OH has already downloaded and installed it. She’s a little more to do of the main quest (Just left R**** R***) but she got a message stating her level cap is now 30.

I CAN’T WAIT TO GET HOME!!!!!!!

  • VIGOR MORTIVORE

    Most likely on GFWL’s side.
I hear nothing but complaints about that service.

  • Ganon255

Well it look like it’s not only me. It would be nice if who ever is in charge of this stuff would get their act together. It’s really getting old.

  • L0rN

    Downloading now, great.

  • Hawaiian c

  • Hawaiian c

hey major i think you should talk to the publishers and the development guys i haven’t seen lot of gamer pics or any good one or if ever people use them thax to avatars you should talk to them publishers and the developer about able to use the achievements as gamer pics i mean after all heh we can use it as a bragging flag that we got it. plus i think they look kooler then the gamer pics that u buy i mean really just ask them when u head to e3…

  • MrGreen13

Cant wait to get home to download this! Wife and kid are gone until Sunday….so needless to say, I have a lot of free time on my hands to give this a go!

  • El Cid

I’m also getting the fail to install error on the Games for Windows Live version (tried twice so far). Another buggy release…

  • Mr Barrel Roll

no installation needed on the 360 — our version works just fine

  • L0rN

How do i start broken steel. The first time I activated the purifer the second try i let the woman do it, both times the game ended as usual.

  • Computerdude103

Are you guys who can’t install GFW using Windows XP? There’s an XP hotfix you need to apply before you can install it… I’m too lazy to find the link but it is buried deeply within the GFW website.

  • L0rN

Ok, now it`s working, just let the outro run and afterwards the game is continuing.

  • Anonymous

pity its broken and achievements are not unlocking.

  • N3WB13 R0N

    Thank You

  • S H O O T 3 R Z

I still need to pick this game up… My cousin loves it.

  • metallicorphan

i am waiting a day or two to download this as on xbox.com there are people complaining saying that the achievements are not unlocking and some NPCs aren’t doing what they are supposed to do and they have tried to reload their game but it still doesn’t work for them(they can’t carry on with the game because of it)
    -
    -
    -
i though Microsoft were big on the whole testing before release…how come they seemed to of dropped the ball on this DLC and the last one?
    -
-and anyway,Microsoft/Bethesda..i have my Microsoft points waiting to buy the DLC..i’ll just wait for word of mouth impressions on the faults

  • deltawing12

YES! All hail Fallout 3, I adore this game and this is going to be great! Instant purchase!

  • Mr Barrel Roll

If anyone is worried about their profiles getting messed up, just keep some old game saves. So if there is a problem, which would eventually be patched, you could start from a non-corrupted spot in the game.

That way at least you don’t have to start your profile over entirely.

  • JohnnyricoMC

Way to go Bethesda and on a lesser scale MS.
yet again you release borked fallout3 DLC, this time for the PC.
it’s as if they didn’t bother testing the damn things.

MS might not seem to realise it, but it’s frakups like these that make the pc gamers like Steam more than Games for Windows Live.

  • DeadOne Walking

And it appears that me deciding to wait at least a week before getting the DLC was correct. XBox version is having issues with achievements as well as some people’s games are simply “stuck” and NPC’s are disappearing or not properly doing anything with dialog. PC version won’t even install from what I have heard.
I hate to say it, but I was right, and I am going to wait for at6 least 2 days after it being fixed before getting it. I am sorry, but obviously both Bethesda and MS are at fault. Bethesda is obviously not going through enough testing, and MS is allowing the certification process to be different per franchise. The bigger the franchise, the more loose the procedure.

  • X Ray Hamburger

Man I really need to get back into this game. I made it a point to wait until Broken Steel came out to get all 3 DLC packs because of the 30 level cap, now I can go through Anchorage and the Pitt while leveling.

  • DNAgent

I wish Microsoft would stop wasting money on this crappy DLC garbage with games like GTA4. Fallout 3, etc (terrible games that were overhyped and I don’t even play anymore). They need to use all the money they are using for DLC & “3rd party exclusives” to make 1st party exclusives. The 3rd party exclusives eventually end up on the PS3 with extras anyways. I want more 1st party exclusives so stop closing down studios for mediocre DLC!

I have no reason at all to even keep my 360 at this point. I’m sure FF13 being on 360 is fine for ppl with only one console but I also have a PS3 and if I wanted to play that game (which I don’t) I could just get the better 1 disc version on PS3 and I don’t even get 3rd party exclusives on 360 now that the PS3 is getting them with extras.

Why not make a new IP like Halo or something? This year I really have no games at all to look forward to on the 360. If Microsoft’s E3 conference doesn’t deliver any good 1st party games then i’m selling this defective piece of garbage.

  • Aryzona Bay

my Broken Steel achievements for the 360 are unlocking, but the gamerscore is NOT being added to my total and the game still only reports 58 achievements and 1200 total gamerscore when it should be 64 achievements and 1350 total gamerscore.

the problems are not just on the PC side people!

  • Sneeches

Dustin Krieger – DUDE GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO SPELL!!!!!

  • L0rN

DLC is broken. I played all the way through the add on and it popped up “achievement unlocked” as usual. But my GS didn`t increase and on xbox.com it doesn`t show the unlocked achievements. FIX THIS SHIT BETHESDA, but I don`t want to restart the game, because of your stupidness.

  • Turtle502

ya know, I downloaded this early this morning and came to work, and just now started hearing about the problems. Was looking forward to getting home and playing this. I hope it works…I was really looking forward to leveling-up again!

  • Ganon255

@ computerdude: Nope, I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64.

I getting to the point to where I would rather the game would just come out later with ALL the content of the disc versus paying $30($10 x 3) for DLC that costs half as much as the original game did and performs twice as bad.

  • darkjester74

Sounds like both versions are having issues. I’m going to do the same thing I did for The Pitt and wait a few days until we get an “all clear” from MS/Bethesda.

  • Ganon255

Bethesda suppport e-mailed me back and said that Broken Steel has not been released yet. It’s no wonder they are having problems over there if they don’t even know what content is available or not.

  • Pastel360

same problem, my achievements are not unlocking, still 58/58

  • Ganon255

looks like the content has been pulled from GFWL, I am calling for a refund, I am sick of this BS

  • Doh Ray Egon

I can understand paying for extra content, but I shouldn’t have to pay for a level cap increase. That should be free…plain and simple.

  • metallicorphan

major-perhaps a word from Microsoft or Bethesda is needed for this(360 version anyway,we know the PC version has been taken down)..i know a few people who aren’t downloading the broken steel DLC yet because of the problems on the 360
    -
a word from Microsoft or Bethesda saying they are looking into it would be very welcome,or at least acknowledging the problem
    -
i myself have downloaded the 3 lots of DLC today but i don’t want to start it as there are more and more people complaining

  • oxymoronx420

I’m seeing lots of those red triangles with ! in them… poop
Why can’t they finish their DLC before they sell it?

  • EV1L SEAN

    Achievements are still broken. :(

  • oxymoronx420

Even worse than the red diamonds, my game is stuck. Once all the enemies in the sat building are dead… nothing happens, nothing to do and one NPC just runs retardedly into a chainlink fence. :-(

    What a disappointment.

  • zurv

    *sigh*

  • Mr Barrel Roll

People are freaking out because they don’t get a few more magick microsoft internet gamerpointzz? Really? How about, for a change of pace, we try actually play games to enjoy them, and not simply to boost our imaginary internet scores.

There was a time, long ago, when people played games to have fun. It was a much simpler age, and things were good.

  • Number 905

    @Mr Barrel Roll

There was also a time when big name companies released products that weren’t riddled with bugs on day one, much less one game and three pieces of content.

Bethesda managed to do well with Oblivion and all of its content, despite some pricing issues with Horse Armor, but they are just mucking up Fallout DLC royally. The lack of quality control with these downloads is just astonishing.

  • Turtle502

I’m just having fun with the Level Cap unlock at this point. Feels great to level-up again. I’m staying away from the quests and the achievements at this point. Hopefully if they release a new version, it won’t screw up those of us who have started.

  • Custom Casket

Wonder how long this game sat in certification. Probably weeks and neither Microsuck or that crap studio Bethesda got it right, yet again. Surprised Microsoft screwed up again? Take a look at their crappy NXE that Major Nelson still refuses to acknowledge is all screwed up regardless of the community outcry in each and every single of his posts. Yet another perfect example of 2 companies not giving a crap and STILL raking in millions of dollars.

  • Hawaiian c

i dont get it people blame MS fooor??? its the publisher responsibility of there software and price they should just give us a refund or a discount for any big mishap.. for things that happen ..

  • Mr Barrel Roll

Number 905, I find it hard to take your remark seriously considering you stopped playing Fallout 3 the minute you finished the last achievements of The Pitt.

You don’t play for fun, you play for achievements.

  • Custom Casket

Hawaiian C, I blame Microsoft because every single piece of DLC that hits XBL goes through Microsoft certification first. Microsoft is supposed to bug test everything on top of the content publishers testing as well. Therefore, they both get the blame.

    Educate yourself.

  • Number 905

    @Barrel Roll

Yeah, I did stop. You know why?

Because there was nothing else left to do in the game.

No possible character advancement, no more plot advancement, and what little side quests I had left weren’t worth the effort, considering a good 98% of the quests in the game are uninspired.

I play for fun. And if it isn’t there, it’s not worth my time. And with the way Broken Steel seems to shaping out, it’s going to be a long time before it’s worth my time, unless Bethesda has actually managed to come up with more interesting quests this time.

Really is a shame that they seemed to loose that talent after Oblivion.

  • Satanic Goat

You can see what the problem is, if your go to your profile in my xbox and look at the fallout 3 achievments, all the new Broken Steel ones are there. However the total is 1200 the same as it was before so they haven’t been added on to the combined total.

  • EV1L SEAN

The achievements are still ‘borked’ I see.

  • oxymoronx420

It’s not just achievements that are broken… where’s my missing textures dammit?
It really ruins the mood to see these bright red boxes with ! in them all through the game world, I just wish they’d refund my $10 since I can’t play the actual broken steel content properly.

    GAH!

Please MS get a new version of this up so I can redownload it!

  • Turtle502

I like the changes that have been made to the Wasteland. If you visit old locations, there may be new characters and new quests. I have not ventured into any of the new quests though…I’m afraid doing so may cause problems if there’s a new version.

The other thing that worries me…I don’t think this content can ever be removed once you add it, since your save files reference quests and places in this content. I wonder if you can really go back to a non-DLC state once you start leveling-up ???

  • EV1L SEAN

There is a fix for the achievement glitch! Just go to http://wurl.ca/?r=297 and read the instructions.

  • EV1L SEAN

If you don;t trust the Wurl link, this is the actual link. http://forums.xbox.com/27095001/ShowPost.aspx

  • Major Mcfadden

Has this been confirmed. According to MGC.net people now have 1350 so im assuming all is ok now.

  • NeoVampyre

Yep, simple fix. Something takes time to update on servers and when you consider the sheer amount of achievements currently being tracked by Microsoft Servers minor glitches are bound to happen. Still the 360 version was perfect on release this time apart from the same Gamerscore delay, so nothing stopped me playing it and adding more hours on top of my already over 200 hours. We bought plenty of Oblivion DLC without extra achievements and personally would pay again for loads of non-achievement Fallout 3 DLC, please!!! So y’all should give Major Nelson and his Xbox team a break, he has a tough job keeping over 10 million consumers happy and proving that the 360 beats the PS3 hands down!

  • oxymoronx420

    To fix it I:

    1.deleted the broken steel DLC
    2.deleted my gamer profile
3.installed fallout 3 to the HDD (optional)
    4.recovered my gamertag
    5.reinstalled Broken Steel
    6.???
7.Fixed! (achievements now list correctly & missing textures are back)
