    This game is surprisingly awesome

  • HFC

    So it’s a recommend? I may download. Only wonder why Australia isn’t getting Arkanoid…

  • KineticOnline

    800 points, over priced classic remake. I’ll pass

  • PzR Tak

    Hmmm KineticOnline. Not sure if you’ve played this then! Game has not a lot to do with the original Space invaders, not a remake, but a major re-imagining. The only game it is a remake of is Space Invaders Extreme DS, and as such is a port instead. Match your colours and your shapes, get bonus rounds. Totally diferent, and no shields either.

  • Drunk Ste

    I actually didn’t mind paying 800 points/£6.80 for this since I’d been looking at the DS version for a while but didn’t want to spend £15-£20 on it.
    It’s just a shame about the multiplayer, only a handful of people from Japan seem to be playing it and the few matches I’ve managed to find were a broken laggy mess. Hopefully some people from Europe will be playing it later so I can give it another try.

  • Sneeches

    these all look like fuc*en dog sh*t so I’ll pass.

  • tozOL

    sneeches your really awesome…brilliant comment , so constructive…

    I can vouch space invaders well worth the 800, superbly done,

  • NavComm81

    This one actually looks impressive on YouTube. It’s not a purchase at 800pts, but if it ever drops to 400 I’d easily go for it.

  • Monhegan

    For those of you on the fence, this is a “must play”. Best classic game remake since Pacman Championship Edition. I also own this on DS, which is 2x the cost on that platform. Great game and ture Live Arcade bargain.

  • Warrengonline

    @KineticOnline
    O…. M…… Gawd. I can not believe you just said that. Did you even play it? Really did you? This game rocks, it is not ‘refurbished’ like all the clones after the original, this game is TOTALLY re-programmed and blows my mind. You clearly can not say that 800 points is overpriced, but then you do have your opinion. And the ONLY REASON(S) I am not insta-buying this is because I have Rez HD, Omega Five and Xmen Origins: Wolverine. Oh and I might just get my own copy of this for the DS, but the music on XBLA in the most used adjective “AWESOME!” 800 points is a deal, 400 points, that would be a steal.

    Play this demo until your Game Over screen (which took me about 5 minutes or so if I am not mistaken), then try Pac Man CE demo – who thought Pac Man could be revitalized!? “Go Backbone Entertainment!”

  • Doh Ray Egon

    This is the only game that came out today that I am completely happy with.

  • Der Archivar

    I don’t get the raving reviews for that. It is like the Windows Mediaplayer music visualization with Space Invaders on top. It has a 1:1 port of the 70′s graphic with a few changes for faster gameplay, flashy graphic effects every second (as if you did something special), pumping techno sound. I guess it is an awesome game for people with attention deficit disorder.

    I cannot see the fun in that, especially how easy it is to play thru the demo. My guess is they just wanted to save money on a real graphic artist, and as I can see on the hilarious german instruction manual, on translators too. Anyway, I still like Backbone Entertainment other games/remakes.

  • Warrengonline

    @Der Archivar
    Heh heh heh, really? I don’t know why, but my response is: Incredible Crisis. :)

  • Kenobi Brocx

    I can’t wait to get home so I can check it out!

  • MADEIRA STEVE88

    I sense that space invaders is hiding something because i remember hearing it comes with the retro game as well………. me sense the game is really 1,200ms pts and the retro game will be 400 ms pts dlc.

  • ItsNymo

    The game was awesome on the DS and PSP for $20, and having it on the 360 w/ online and other features for 800 MSP = Win…

  • L0rN

    @Steve88
    Why should they release the retro game as DLC, when you can buy it as an Arcade Game for 400 seperately?

  • GoobTuff

    This game is awesome.

  • CheekyLeeth

    Really, I have to agree with everyone saying how brilliant this one is. Like most of you, I was wary of even playing the game because not only was it Space Invaders, but I also don’t exactly run towards ANYTHING that labels itself ‘Extreme’. But then I played the DS version, and literally fell in love. Forget everything you think you know about Space Invaders, and try this out. Just like with Pacman CE (which is another one that I baulked at when I saw the 400 point price before I actually played the demo), a classic oldie gets re-invented as a superb newbie. If you are even remotely interested in a good time from games, this is a must buy.

  • CryptoElite

    To all you people who whine about 1200 point games, what does it say when you don’t buy great games like this one at your oh-so-important 800 points price?

  • XxLightkunxX

    @DUSTIN KRIEGER

    Sweat

    Sweet *as you’ve been horribly trying to say*

    Sorry, I just couldn’t ignore it any longer.

  • MADEIRA STEVE88

    @L0rN
    Space Invaders (retro) is on xbla for 400ms pts?

  • ToEvadeSlugs

    This is such a great game. Never got any of the portable versions, so was pleased to get this on arcade at a very reasonable price. Its up there with Galaga Legions and Pac Man CE for me.

  • The Boom Camel

    This is an awesome game, but man is the online broken as all get out.

  • Surly x Duff

    Will be downloading demo for this one. Loved the DS version, hoping this has added features to hold my interest.

  • theuglyteradon

    I’m hoping that the only game I’ve played online doesn’t reflect the quality of the rest of them that I plan on playing in the future. That is to say… LAGGY!

    Other than that this game is kind of a steal at ten dollars, compared to paying twice as much for the DS or PSP versions. I was sure that they would have priced it at fifteen!

  • Chux

    Love the game but the Online is like playing the bonus level where your ship feels like it’s on ice. :( Sad times.

  • Exu

    Yeah this is pretty cool, for the most part.

  • Serblander

    Pleasantly surprised with this game. Nice remake. I found it quite fun to play, particularly with friends. Btw, i only experience lag when playing VS and none in co-p (or at least very rare in co-op). Anyone else find this?
