Just to point out for e, Duke Nukem Forever is NOT, I repeat NOT, dead. Activision is actively searching for a developer to finish the game, and it sounds like they do intend to finish it off and release it.

Since they haven’t said that they aren’t having a spring update, I’m assuming that they are going to have one. So hopefully within the next monthish we will have a fix to the Xbox guide. I’m still amazed they ever released it in the condition it’s in now….

Indeed I am getting worried about the Guide as it seems to be getting slower, and the Playstation Network seems to be getting faster.

Its a bit crazy that I can load a new zone on Playstation Home quicker than I the “download trial” link appears on Xbox Marketplace, and I consider PSHome to be slow.

The most mental thing that happened to me recently was I went into Videos (on my console not Marketplace) and it lagged in there too – and I only had ONE video on my console! That’s insane.

I really wish NXE had a defrag function as that must be half the problem. The other half presumably is Live servers.

It’s my birthday and Major Nelson put a show out. What a good day and the show is good!

Actually Major, Fallout 3 DLC is still not fixed on the PC there is still achievement issues with Broken Steel

@ Twilight Now: I think QJ meant Take-Two, since they’re the ones who still own the publishing rights to the game.

Major i guess you have not been looking at gamesforwindows and bethsoft forums there are lot of angry comments that MS is doing nothing to fix the PC issues since the 360 has the same issues that was fixed in 2 days.

My Guide is getting more laggy as the weeks go by.

Over here the Guide seems a LOT slower than it was initially, and growing increasingly so by the week…

Its true. The guide is getting laggier over time. Whats with that?

My guide is starting to hang more and more as well. It wasn’t too big of a problem at first, just avoid using it during graphic heavy situations, but now when I’m on the dashboard it hangs as badly as when I’m playing Oblivion.

Is there currently any known reason why the guide hangs or a way to get some relief from Guide lag for any amount of time?

i dont think it has to do about defrag hdd i think the catch is at its limits also people are getting more and more achievements the catch buff has to load the friends list and there achievements info plus the graphics and run the system at the sometime 2 things they can do.. one: try to simplify the code so it has more direct root to what ever command the”player” want in the dash or two: “looking up achievements only in dash” or “only compare the games there in” not both… ok… 3… i notice its not using a step by step command more a waterfall effect meaning one command leads to other root commands thus the catch has to get ready to buff the pics in all achievements in friends list… see i dont think they have the guide protocol run off the hdd more off a ram chip thus its faster to pull up and free up reading wail the game is running in the background… i mean thats what ill would doo…. thats why when u scroll on the pics list it loads one by one because stored in hdd and then dl the missing pics off to hdd from the xbox center not directly to ram… so i bet the catch has to rebuff every time it redownload it making it hang.. yah sound confusing but thats what i think what happing some how they got to figure out how to reduce the amount of loading in the guide or it really going to stall… ps xbox guys you need to get rid of the videos in the dash sliders its not helping on preloading looks kool but it mite cause hdd issue’s with the buffing.. just saying

Major, since you are making comments on Star Trek, WHERE DID THE CONTENT GO??? MGC (link below) shows 20 gamerpics from Star Trek legacy, and I downloaded the Star Trek pics (for the movie) from the marketplace months back, and now that the movie is out, all the content is gone! “Star Trek” as a search on xbox.com turns up nothing. I thought I had downloaded some of the pics from the game, but since I had an E74 right after changing my license, all my content is spread all over the place, and I can’t find it in my download history.

Not sure where Activision came from, I think I may have been reading a news story about them or something, and they slipped out.

I really wish someone at Microsoft would acknowledge the guide issue. It’s really bugging me now. It’s not even just my guide or Marketplace that hang now!, the problem seems to have spread to the main NXE dash. My friends avatars, game/video library and even accessing my memory devices via the system settings all have issues loading in a timely manner.

All people ask is that the issue be acknowledged and a statement saying it’s being looked into. It’s really frustrating and putting a real dampener on the whole Xbox experience!.

Very quiet sound levels again could you put it up a notch please.

This may be a bit of a silly post. I just wanted to say that the Todd Maccfarlane interview last week was fantastic, he really seems to be a great guy. Gonna listen to this weeks show now. Just a few more things that I would like to see:
More achievement tracking in games (I need to know how close I am to getting an achievement)
Can we have some way of knowing where we met a particular friend and what games we enjoy playing with them. Sometimes I find it tough to remember them all.
An Arcade Classics section please
quicker NXE (I love the NXE but it could be a little quicker)
Those new controllers (with improved d pad) should be standard at least with the Elite
How about soem bundles I can design myself, ie give us a choice of 10 titles to pick from and the more we go for, the more we save ( Even PGR 3 or 4, COD 4, Forza, Halo, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Gears 2, Fable 2, a 2100 points card etc even a few more classics in there). This would help me get into some of the games that I and others didn’t get due to not owning a box.

I actually have a notepad (which I stopped updating) on my PC and on my Treo so I know WHERE and WHEN I met certain people (2007 was an awesome year) on my friends list (hoping for a 200 to 500 increase by the end of this year). I’m about to do a friends list spring cleaning at the end of this month, hopefully I can free up at least 10 spots.

I like the approach with the lobby-based studio. Reminds me of the Today show after they started the trend of glass behind the desk. You guys should build a little glass studio in the lobby for podcasts and videos.
