This week on Arcade: Star Trek & Texas Cheat’em

Star Trek and Texas Cheat’em will be released this Wednesday on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 800 points each.

Yay, for 800 point games. Although Texas Cheat Em would probably drive me insane since I don’t like cheaters.

  • Alimaggs

Cool, count me in for Star Trek. Still recovering from the movie. Amazing stuff.

  • a peeking duck

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

  • Exu

Sounds a bit crap to me. Still, I’ll give ‘em a go.

  • Atheist Primate

I’ll try the demoes like I always do, but they didn’t look that interesting on their profile pages on Xbox.com.
I haven’t bought that many XBLA games this year, but I’ve had a great deal of fun with Peggle on Live, and I’m looking forward to Battlefield 1943 next month.

  • a peeking duck

Don’t you mean “sweat”, DUSTIN? :P

  • Ark Hunter

A poker/card game I could probably get behind. Sounds kind of fun or at least not boring.

    FIX THE GUIDE

  • MeS FEAR

    will give a try… ;)

  • MeS FEAR

BTW…people are saying all the time that the guide is freezing…i just wanted to say that i dont have problems with my guide…never freezing.

Argh, Star Trek has my pet hate in its trailer – footage from the movie to try to make the game look better.

Isn’t it about time all game trailers were forced to ONLY use in-game footage? It doesn’t even matter if the game includes that footage, the fact its in the trailer makes the game appear better than it really is as its out of context.

  • TaygetaVendetta

Pass on both of this week’s games. Both look very dull.

At least theres plenty of good upcoming XBLA games, with Cellfactor, King of Fighters ’98 and Garou: Mark Of The Wolves all apparently due out soon.

    @KristofferLygre – why pay $15 for 3 maps?

  • CosMick

Oh well, another week to wait for something decent.

  • rastansaga

I’m suspicious that Star Trek may be a 1200 or 1600 point game
in “disguise”. i’ve heard that many DLC packs are required
    to get the full experience.

  • Atheist Primate

    @TayGettaVendetta
I’m and oldscholl Battlefield fan since 1942, and so I’m looking forward to BF 1943. If people pay 1200 MS points for Braid and Castle Crashers, (which are good games btw) I don’t see any problem in paying the same for BF 1943.
I might go tired of the same three maps after a while, but Wake Island is in the game, and if you ask me Wake is the best multiplayer map ever, so it’ll keep me busy for several months I reckon. It’s not like 1943 will be a tiny arcade game. It’s a full blown FPS, only with fewer maps than normal.
A map pack normally costs 800 points, but 1943 isn’t a map pack. It’s a new game. If it’s going to be good is another matter. I always try the demo first, anyway.

  • NavComm81

They had to mix scenes from the movie to advertise the game. That’s not what I’d consider as a good sign.

  • krisxx

Where is RBI Baseball? They announced it last year, I figured it would be released around the start of baseball season. Anyone know if that got cann’d? Or is it still coming out?

  • sleepydumbdude

Really surprised me that a new licensed game coming out for only 800. I was expecting Star Trek to be at least 1200. I might actually try it out, if it was 1200 then I wasn’t even going to bother with the trial unless it got spectacular reviews.

  • tabicat

800 points for Star Trek? Sounds good to me! I’ll be getting it if it doesn’t suck. I wouldn’t even consider it if it were 1200 points.

  • S H O O T 3 R Z

    will see

  • ElektroDragon

Glad to see SANITY return to the prices! Star Trek is probably a must buy.

  • darkjester74

Ill save my points for the Fable DLC.

  • BeAkErOo

star trek screens look ok and 12 player online can’t be bad can it??

  • egamer25

    800 points = cool game
    1200 points= Sucky Game

    I don’t get it!

  • XxLightkunxX

    …wow.

Usually you put up more of an update than this Major. Meaning..a little more than “so and so is on for sale for this much”.

In much of a rush or something? That post in itself was a little suspicious.

  • Major Nelson

Actually, this is usually all I post to announce the arcade titles of the week.

  • TaygetaVendetta

Major is there an explanation for the lack of updates on the status of XBLA games, as in how far along they’re coming or the status on them? For Example King of Fighters ’98UM and Metal Slug 7 were announced at a Microsoft event held at TGS last year (I believe that was in either September or October), along with other XBLA games. Since the announcement that it was coming out, there hasn’t been a word about their release.

  • Serblander

Looks like another clean sweep this week for me. Star Trek looks like its going to be interesting based upon the info on game modes. Reminds me of Battlestar Galactica and Wing Commander Arena – i just hope that there will be more than one other person online with it after the first week of release.

Texas Cheat’Em sounds interesting. I loved the first XBLA game so i’m looking forward to this one, though not entirely sure what to expect. Still i was hopping to see Bubble Bobble come out this week.

  • daveboy UK

Bubble Bobble would be an automatic buy for me. I’ll have a look at Texas Cheat ‘Em….should be popular with everyone that game….given the number of people who quit if they’re losing etc.

  • xfoolsgoldx

    It’s not rocket science.

To cut a long story short.People usualy no when their being taken for a Fool.

Its like the Live video market place in the uk.The Downloads are over twice the price i rent my films for.In many cases i could bye to own for the same price.
Its not that the films are rubbish its that the price is nowhere near = to the Value.

  • DarkMite2

Star Trek looks just “ok”, but Cheat’em = zzzzzzzzzzzzz
When are we ever going to see Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers released? The forums at the Magic website have been slammed for months with ppl waiting/wondering.

  • Ozzzy189

has bubble bobble ever been announced ? i’d like to see all of the bubble bobble games. my guide is very very slow by the way.

  • WiCkEd Co 80

I’m still waiting for a fun Mario Kart type game. I want crazy racing with weapons.

Also Sega give me Chu Chu Rocket, it was the first Dreamcast online game and I was hook to online gaming ever since.

    No more “card” games
