Arcade, Deal, Marketplace By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Mr Barrel Roll

    Never heard of it.

  • Danowat32

Meh, even at 400pts this ain’t really worth it, the 360 version is pretty much identical to the version I have on my Mobile, just can’t see any justification for it on a next gen console.

  • The Detective

This isn’t a bad game. I did pick this up when it was 800 points and I feel like I got my entertainment value back. I wish there were more people online so I could get a crack at the win 100 games achievement.

Still, having played this game (68% brain capacity currently) I’d say it was worth it.

  • twisted poke

Decent game and not a bad deal. The problem is I picked this up during the black friday sale about 6 months ago. Are you guys recycling deals now? We get one arcade game a month and it’s a rehash of a previous sale. Sadly, the deal of the week continues to disappoint.

  • HT UK

    Meh…..

  • Danowat32

I believe the “black friday” sale was for yankee doddles only.

Now all of us can take advantage of this tremedous dealio ;)

  • Bv8360

Nice! Never bothered for 800, though for 400 i will get this later this week.

  • Turtle502

I might pick this up at 400 points. I like games that challenge my….challenge my…you know…that thing in my head.

  • Biomonkey

really…..really…..really!? You can do better then that. Anyways, 400 MP isnt that bad but not a game I will be playing.

  • ElHubcapo

Just noticed your referral tag in the link to the marketplace.. shame on you Major, lol

  • Rasy2kG

I just bought this on Sunday, ARGH!

  • Anonymous

lame lame lame lame lame lame lame lame lame.

I have this on my phone, not worth the dollar.

  • NavComm81

Hey I never noticed that referral either. From now on, I’m going to find a non-referral link for everything, until Major Nelson starts replying about some of the bigger issues when people that directing comments towards him. :)

  • Sogeman

Move on – there is nothing here to see for you.

    Until next week

  • tabicat

I’m pretty sure the referral link is just used to determine how many people take advantage of this deal because of this blog. It’s just for statistics gathering. I seriously doubt that MN is given a kickback of any kind.

  • wiirule111

This is a deal we shouldnt complain about… 50% off on a arcade game is a good deal for once.

Way better than “useless” EA Sports addons. :)

  • xTheTruth72x

that’s a fun deal. i mean it’s entertaining to play and at 5 bucks that the cost of a sudoku book. but still… when will something GOOD be for sale. say, Castle Crashers? the game. not the stupid add-on!!!

  • foo mo jive

I bought this game when it came out… it’s kind of cool for non-gamers. One thing to keep in mind is that it has been updated big time since it came out – it now shows what game you’re playing next before each one, has avatar support, shows your brain % at the top, and a bunch of other cool little improvements. It’s fun to unlock all the minigames and see how well you can do in each of them. I like to play this before getting into a gaming session as kind of a warmup.

  • a peeking duck

You guys are seriously impressing nobody with these “deals.”

  • Exu

I’ll reserve judgment on this one, I was all prepared to say “when I said we wanted deals on arcade games, I don’t think we meant crap ones” but the fact is, I’l gonna queue up the trial and give it a whirl first.
I mean, I don’t have high hopes for it but you never know, might surprise me.

  • LausDomini

Glad to see another Arcade game half price. I will be buying this shortly.

  • Warrengonline

Hmmm, cool! Nice price drop. I’m not sure, but 400 is very attractive. My friends love it, but then they do not have Brain Age 1 or 2 or Nintendo DSes. The trial of this game called me ‘below normal’ and marked correct answers wrong (I crossed checked with another friend and he said it did it to him too and we laughed and I passed, but I think he bought it any way). 400 points, I’ll re-download the demo as I like brain puzzles. If you love Peggle, you’re sure to find this game entertaining, at least try the trial, and the “400 Points off Discount” is an instant discount, no need to mail in your coupon. (smiles) Oh, this is for Gold Members, so upgrade and save today. Parents with kids (5 to ??), this will keep them busier than Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader.

  • TapouTime

Thanks great Deal 5 Bucks just got it today.

  • Ganon255

ok, I’ll get almost any game for $5

  • JORBO TRON

lame this was a deal back around xmas also. How about some fresh deals?

  • AnEternalEnigma

    Yep another crappy deal.

  • Ark Hunter

Nice discount at least. And at least it’s a game this week. 400pts is probably what it should have been in the first place. If you have to put it on sale, these should probably be permanent price drops.

  • L0rN

Nice deal, and now fix the guide MS.

  • Supreme Entity

    PLEASE. FIX. THE. LAGGY. GUIDE!!!

  • sleepydumbdude

I’m going to get it. I’m having carpal tunnel surgery soon and this looks like a game I can play one handed.

  • UKresistance

Well, at least 50% off is a decent discount even if it’s something I won’t bother with.

  • wiirule111

I bought it.. as some one else here says.. its upgraded alot since its release.

  • S H O O T 3 R Z
  • darkjester74

$5 isnt bad for that game.

  • XxLightkunxX

Some of the mini-games within this game didn’t make a bit of sense. Most of the time when it comes to these “get a little smarter by the day” games, you’re supposed to have some sort of sense of an idea of what to do..and some of them on this game just made me go “Wha? Why’s that answer wrong?”.

Its original price wasn’t worth it for me and neither is it a buy at 400. Although I put personal preferences in front of the whole “deal” BS. Oh well. No buy from me.

  • XxLightkunxX

By the way I’m confused Major…why the heck does it say I haven’t been online in one day? That’s impossible; I don’t even have my 360…it’s being sent to get repaired.

  • Nex Antonius

    Disgusting.

  • CO Slack3r

I downloaded the demo ages ago, and like it but didn’t like the price, so I just added it to my queue.

  • PriusGuy2004

My opinion is that this is a nice deal. I was one of the ones, however, to buy it at full price soon after I bought my 360 Elite. I’m one who likes a challenge, and these brain games are a good way to get your brain thinkin’. It’s a fast paced game, and with the recent updates which now includes avatar support, it seems like things are a bit easier to achieve now (example, getting 100% brain usage).

The only bad thing I’ve experienced is online play. I don’t know that the online play has improved much since the recent update. Whenever I search for a game, it’s like the server times out or something. 95% never works for me…unless I create a game myself…and wait hours on end (exageration) for someone to join in.

Other than that, it’s a good game.

  • Warrengonline

Hmm, I just played the trial and this time it was more enjoable, but the surprising thing is I have a handful of friends who have it already so I’ll be buying this this weekend. I did not know it had online play, cool! PriusGuy2004 I guess I’ll play with you or/and my friend for now then. The Maw was a nice burn, but I hope we get a Maw II: Blue Guy’s Return Home – where he returns to his home planet and we get to learn of his piople and he innocently brings the Maw with him, which is illegal, his people throws him into jail and he has to escape, get the right parts, manuals and map make the trip to the Maw’s home planet to discover. . . and then the legend of the Maw is. . . it was sad, but it had to happen.

  • II W4RLORD II

i bought this a while back.I really need to start playing this more. This is worth the 400 points if you like think fast games.Although, their were some disconnect problems with multiplayer, maybe that’s fixed now .I enjoyed this game so much ,I consistently looked for downloadable content and/or add-ons for this game but none ever came out so I just quit playing it.If you like this type of game, get it,you wont be disappointed for 400 points. It sure beats some of the other crap i’ve seen for 400.

  • Himmathand

    Yeah, okay.

  • loopingstar

I paid 800 for this ages ago – it annoyed me so much I deleted it from my console ! Thats the one and only time I ever did that -It’s a much better game on mobile formats for some reason – worth a look for 400 points though I suppose

  • Exu

Actually I found this surprisingly fun. Not brilliant but worth a punt at 400.

  • Anonymous

Not bad, but can we get deals on games that are worth buying. Damn …

  • Shelldragon3

It still is showing up as 800 MSP for me. The deal should last all week right?
