    Original Xbox Top Live Titles

    2 Star Wars: Battlfrnt 2

Take the hint. Where is my Star Wars: Battlefront 3??

  • Grumpy Jedi

I’m curious if Halo 2 has ever *not* been #1 for the Original Xbox.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

I find it funny that more people bought VooT than that new Zombie Wrangler game. Arkanoid and Space Invaders were instant purchases for me, and I got the demo for the other, but haven’t had a chance to try it out.

SHMUP fans…Raiden Fighter Aces is now out in retail…it includes Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighter Jets, and is $19.99 (at Gamestop at least). This one was kind of under the radar, with no firm release date, but it finally made it to the USA this past week.

  • Ollyh

Looks like Zombie Wranglers was a miserable failure.

  • Thiago123

-Halo 3 still on top, no surprise the Mythic Map Pack is phenomenal, much better than the previous map packs.

-I am a UFC fan but even I’m surprised to see the demo still on the top 10! We’ll see how it translates to sales…I enjoyed the demo but wasn’t blown away. The demo that did surprise me though was the Bionic Commando MP demo…much better than I thought, but then again I’ve had low expectations for the game.

-Glad to see Fallout 3 back on the list. I have been playing all 3 DLC since I was waiting for the level cap to be raised.

-Will be interesting to see if the much hyped Clover makes it onto the Community games list. Looks like a great game in the vain of Braid, but 1) not my type of game, 2) might get lost in the shuffle of all the turn your xbox into a vibrator garbage on Community games…

  • n3rfherd3r

UFC demo good, but found it a little easy. Just start swinging, and you’ll eventually connect. Hopefully in the final version they make it a little more technical.

  • L0rN

Nice to see our activity, but I want to see yours: FIX THE GUIDE AND THE LAGGY MARKETPLACE.

  • YaoIsGod

How can Hasbro Game Night be considered one game when it has 1400 Achievement Points?

  • K1LLER HORNET

^ have to agree – fix the damn Marketplace so it doesn’t take ages to get to the items page to initiate a download.

i now find it much easier to go on xbox.com & download from there.
the old marketplace (on Blade interface) was much faster.

wonder if it affects ppl in the US – i doubt it…

  • CosMick

All hail to the king – Halo 3 will forever be number 1………………until ODST.

  • BROKENRADIO541

@ n3rfherd3r: You must be joking! UFC Undisputed is one of the most technical fighting games ever made. Go back and play through the tutorial and then tell me it’s not technical.

  • moocow21

    @K1LLER HORNET

I’m from the U.S. and I also find the NXE & Marketplace to be much slower than the blades system (for the most part) as well.

  • VILIUS169

i was expecting cod waw on top, but Halo3 still rules the world

  • n3rfherd3r

@ BROKENRADIO541: It is only technical when you want it to be. I have played through it many times. If I am ever in a jam, I just start throwing the punches and kicks till I get a K.O.

  • BROKENRADIO541

True…but that makes it more like a real fight. One blast to the temple and down goes Frazier!

  • Warrengonline

    @Ollyh
Is kind of fun for the kiddies. I played it after completing The Maw, but it just made me want MORE Maw. It is like an upgrade to Yo! Bro from NEC / Hudson Soft. “Where do I go now? Oh, over there.” Not bad, but not awesome either. I’d play it while waiting at the doctor’s office and that’s not a bad thing.

  • a Master Ninja

Xbox Community games need a rating system and better ways to sort through the crap. The top selling “games” list is just embarrassing.

  • Matu Flp Krawfe

    UFC demo STILL!

I wouldn’t have expected any fighting demo to break, let alone hold, the top 5 let alone one not based on a long runnging japanese franchise.

  • Ultimate RC

More than a month on top for a game thats 85 weeks old! Impressive. No disputing that.

  • aStrangeDisease

I wonder how many weeks Halo 3 held the top position since it was released. Does anyone know?

  • Sneeches

halo 3 has to be the worst FPS in the world, I can’t believe its beating out the COD Series which has redefined what a FPS is. As for the arcade games, notice how none of your SHITTY 1200 points games are on there…cough…lode runner….cough, piece of $HIT.

  • Neo X5

    Thanks for the stats…

@Those having laggy guides and what not…(I know I saw one complaint already, they pop up on every single blog entry)

I was having similar problems and I also had a lot of games installed. I have a 120GB harddrive and was down to about 8.9GB free. I removed all my installed games and cleaned up a lot of space and now have about 90GB free. The guide and the marketplace sped up…coincidence? maybe, but i was actually able to open the guide and had my friends and recent players update faster than it has in a while and didn’t freeze on me while online…the marketplace items even seemed to pop up a little faster too.

I would check your free space, might not pertain to all but give it a shot. Hope it helps someone…

  • Doh Ray Egon

@Sneeches: Halo 3 is on top right now for two reasons: 1. The Mythic Map Pack and 2. the split up Call of Duty community.

I can’t believe MS is still using the method they are using to count Family Game Night purchases. It’s very deceptive and ethically questionable. But I guess that’s how businesses work these days. Deceive the consumer base into thinking your product is better than it is so they might buy it.

  • a peeking duck

clarky456: um I dunno if you’ve heard but Battlefront 3 is in limbo because the developer, Free Radical Design, went into administration (and was later bought by Crytek).

Who knows who is working on it right now.

  • Neo X5

The Haesbro Game is deceptive altogether. It is a “free” game but when you launch it you have to buy addons to actually do anything. Can’t really point the finger at MS as EA is the studio(I think that is the studio for it). I think they should have a Hasebro top 5 list or something to show the top games within the game itself, I am mean really the item is it’s own arcade.

  • Anonymous

    halo 3 rules!

  • The 7raveler

    @Sneeches
Stop your trolling. Halo 2 was the first great online shooter and Halo CE paved the way for shooters on consoles. Without those, you would have none of your Precious COD games. The Campaign in COD games are good, but the multiplayer was not anything special. Anything in COD can be traced back to Halo or even earlier. I would not call it revolutionary.

And to everyone saying that the COD franchise’s users are split-you are incorrect. A UU, which is what this list is based on, only needs a second of the game starting to count. If the game is on your gamer card, you have accounted for a UU. What this means is that people like COD WAW so much they don’t play COD4 anymore, or that they play both games infrequently. This is the same for every other game on the list, too, so your argument is illogical.

    @Neo X5
Exactly. The same basic principle as a computer HD. I believe the Xbox caches marketplace info in the HD (if you have one) and retrieves it from there. The more free space on your HD, the less time it takes to find that info.

  • Doh Ray Egon

@The 7raveler: No…the argument ISN’T illogical actually. There are people who don’t even touch WAW because they don’t like it compared to COD4. There are people who don’t play COD4 because they like WAW (my brother is an example of this.) I know you want to believe Halo 3 is some precious amazing game that’s “the king”. But it really isn’t. Last year it was sitting at the #2 spot practically the whole time COD4 was out. And Halo 3 this year has only been on top a few tops thanks to WAW. That doesn’t sound like “the king” to me.

  • Mr Barrel Roll

And then Halo 3 was all like OM NOM NOM NOM on your monies

Cool that Fallout is back up, Broken Steel was great.

  • The 7raveler

    @Doh Ray Egon
Wrong…first of all, Halo 3 was the most played game all of last year. The TOP GAME of the year. That includes WAW and COD4.

“There are people who don’t even touch WAW because they don’t like it compared to COD4″
Then they are not split. You are saying that if one game didn’t exist, people would be playing the other full time? Like I said, the argument of a split community is illogical because the second game exists. Still don’t understand? I’m going to assume you know what a UU is. If you understand that principle, then you understand that people prefer WAW over 4 OR play both equally. Basically, you are saying that they play one game and don’t account for the other. While this may be true, that is like me saying Gears is not first because people are playing Halo instead. The only similarity between WAW and 4 is the name. Everything else is different-they are designed for separate audiences.

  • Doh Ray Egon

@The 7raveler: Halo 3 was consistently in 2nd place to COD4 on activity charts up until the release of WAW. That’s not made up…that’s a fact. And it’s not a coincidence. I am an example of the COD4/WAW split. I used to play COD4 all the time, then WAW came out. Now I play that most of the time. I don’t play COD4 that often anymore. So now my activity is split up…mostly on WAW. If WAW didn’t come out I’d probably still focusing only on COD4. And the few times I do play COD4…the online population for it is noticeably smaller now. While WAW’s is quite bigger. And to say that the only similarity between COD4 and WAW is their title is quite an exaggeration on your part. Actually…I just looked at your games played…and it appears you never even PLAYED WAW. Wow…well there goes any validity on that statement.

  • Mcmax3000

@n3rfherd3r If you’re finding the UFC demo easy, go to the left in the menu & into options. You can up the difficulty in there. It defaults to beginner. It gets MUCH more enjoyable when you do that.

  • The 7raveler

I’m not saying it was not runner up. It was. What I am saying is that it was the MOST PLAYED game last year. I have played WAW…just because I have no achievements in it does not mean I need to keep it on my GC.
You do not understand my argument, do you? I am saying that the community CANNOT BE SPLIT BECAUSE THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT GAMES OUT. If the community was split, then one of the games would have significantly less players than the other. The fact that the two games are so close in the charts gives less credibility to your argument. And for all of the Halo bashing you have done, you still have almost 1000 GS in it.

What are the similarities other then the names and engines of the games? I bet you cannot come up with much more then that.

  • BFBeast666

Doh Ray Egon: The whole “Family Game Night” is ethically questionable. And the fact that the oh-so-savvy gaming community BUYS that pile of dung is embarrassing.

  • Doh Ray Egon

@The 7raveler: But one DOES have less players than the other now. Hence why COD4 has been stuck at 3rd all this time since WAW came out. Being close to each other in the charts does NOT make what I say less valid. You don’t get to define the gap in players one must meet in order for it to be a split. The games share the exact same gameplay mechanics to each other. The only big difference the two games have are the setting. And I didn’t bash Halo…I just said it wasn’t “the king”. So I guess if I don’t say it’s the best game ever…I must be “bashing” it. Uh huh…right.

  • MACPH1ST0

@ Sneeches: If Lode Runner hadn’t been screwed over by that stupid price mix-up, it would still probably be in the top 10 yet.

  • Anonymous

    @BFBeast666

Some of us ADULTS have kids that enjoy playing these games, and I’ll admit I have a good time sitting around with my family playing FGM games.Yeah I agree its a little over priced, but hell what isnt these days??

  • Etherphoria

The COD community is split, COD4 had the entire market and was #1 on Xbox Live, WAW came out a large portion left for WAW the remainder stayed with COD 4,how is that not a split? I used to play 4 and now I play WAW primarily, the only time I put 4 in is when my friends list is almost inactive and my only friend who didnt switch to WAW is on. I would be playing 4 primarily if WAW wasnt out, thats a split.

  • XxLightkunxX

    @Sneeches
    >halo 3 has to be the worst FPS in the world, I can’t believe its beating out the COD Series which has redefined what a FPS is.<

Wait what? Call of Duty? Redefined the FPS genre? HAHAAHAHAHAHHA go kill yourself. I’m sorry but not even I can ignore such a piece of crap statement when I see it.

  • clarky456

I would have got Load Runner if it wasn’t for the price mix-up. It just didn’t seam right that I should have to pay 400MSP more because I wasn’t one of the “lucky” people to get it at 800MSP. Shame on you M$.

So Instead of getting Load Runner I got The Pit and Broken Steel – which has kindly bumped my Fallout 3 Gamer Score up to 1100 – Now back to looking for some more damn ingots.

  • XxLightkunxX

    @MACHP1STO

Or perhaps the fact it’s not that great of a game that it didn’t sell well is the reason it’s not in any of the lists? Ever think about that? Stop using Microsoft’s mistake as a handicap. If a simple game such as UNO is beating Lode Runner…yeah…

  • MACPH1ST0

@ XxLightkunxX: Um I’ve already been through this with you. It’s obvious that it would have gotten a lot more sales if it hadn’t been for Microsoft’s mistake (e.g. clarky456). And do you think all those people still would have gotten it if it was “not that great of a game”?

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

There were a lot, A LOT, of people who were willing to buy Lode Runner at the advertised price of 1200pts, but then decided to not buy the game at all when they found out it was initially sold (for about half a day…not like some “launch hour sale”) for 800pts, then changed to 1200. If I hadn’t been fortunate enough to get it for 800, I probably wouldn’t have bought it at all, and for the same reasons…yes, it is “worth” 1200, but if just because I was at work or whatever and missed out shouldn’t mean I have to pay an extra 400, and there are plenty of other things to spend points on.

As for the chicken and egg arguments about Halo/ COD…give it up already. NEITHER was a “revolutionary” FPS, as far as the genre goes. PC FPS’s have long surpassed either game (Crysis, anyone), and have been around long before MS even considered the first Xbox. Halo(1) was “revolutionary” because of what it did for CONSOLE gaming, and H2 and H3 are improved versions, and are good games, but even the PC version of Halo is a much better game, all around. COD4 was “revolutionary” in that it took FPS to a new era (Modern)…while the majority are future (Halo, Quake, Unreal), past (WWII and Vietnam), and alternate reality (Bond games, and things like Counter Strike), and that it added the “perk” system into a new level of gameplay. WaW refined it, but returned to WWII, and MW2, in theory, won’t be “revolutionary” (and neither will ODST), but they will both be the most refined and “tweaked” games of their series. I find it funny that Battlefield Bad Company gets no love, as that games online was actually really good, but when a game doesn’t sell, it’s hard to get people to play it (like Frontlines!)

  • Frantic Fargo

Hmm, I wish I wouldn’t have upgraded my PC and bought the Valve Complete pack… ’cause then I’d be contributing to this list. :)

(Although, strangely I have contributed to L4D’s top 10 spot… although I own it for PC.) :\

  • DarkDude98

Really interesting to see TMNT arcade there, guess the news of Turtles in Time coming out boosted its sales.

  • IconicSoulJA

Fallout 3 FTW! Now that all the issues are resolved. I’m loving the new DLC!

  • Exu

No Lode Runner, no Zombie Wranglers, nice to see. Props to Space Invaders EXTREEEEEEEEEEME too.

  • IIx ZoSo xII

    Whoop!
    Fallout is back!
I hope more DLC comes out…

  • drWaLLs

@ n3rfherd3r: did you take the UFC demo off beginner mode?

  • JonnyDFandango

@Killer Scuzzy J: Agree with you about the Halo/COD comments.

They each expanded things in their own right… arguing which is the better-est-ist is pretty pointless.. (and never-ending on here.)

  • JonnyDFandango

I really hope that there will be some more DLC coming to Fallout3 … obviously not going to be out any time soon… but maybe someday? *fingers crossed*

  • ShinobiSteve81

I’d like more FO3 DLC too, but if it does happen, I’m waiting a week or so before downloading it given the track record of the last two and them coming out broken…

  • Searing Wave

Halo 3 is in for the long haul. I can’t wait for ODST as well as the maps coming out later this year.

Must be sequel year, eh? Modern Warfare 2, BioShock 2, Assassin’s Creed II, Mass Effect 2. So many pre-orders to be made…

    GO HALO GO !!! KING

  • Team Kobun

Community Games desperately needs a better implemented rating system, ideally something akin to Digg where users can promote or bury titles. It’s so sad that the bulk of what is selling are pathetic applications. Please encourage Microsoft to pay better attention to XBLCG as it could truly be a killer app for the 360 but only if the company figures out a way to avoid it becoming a haven for shovelware and squashing that perception to encourage people to check out the CG channel.

  • Scooterific

Where is Lode Runner? Oh right…Microsoft is retarded. It’s a shame the 23 year old, half of a game rip off Arkanoid is on here though. I feel bad for the people they ripped off for this one.

  • Jax Demon

Major Nelson, This seems to be the only way to get in contact with you regarding an issue many people seem to have.
Now the Gears of war forums should be a place to air views and check out info on a game people love,However the so called Celeb Devs at Epic games seem to think they are above everything, Whenever a constructive post is made about the problems which plague Gears of war 2 we are treated to the thread being deleted, It’s like we are not allowed to give feedback about the game.
Now the current state of the game is appauling due mainly to getting put in games where the host is 5000 miles away and the lag ruins the gameplay, and the lack of support from the Epic games forums is disgusting, As a consumer I will be taking my custom elsewhere if this continues.
Now this is where you fit in, your the chief of Xbox and the bad rep Epic are getting is and will affect Xbox in the long run.
I would suggest the forum gets a complete make over and the devs should not treat consumers like dirt and then proceed to ban people for having an view on a product they bought.
Another thing that annoys me is the arrogance shown from Devs on the forum, Banning people is fair enough but then adding snidy comments in place of the post the banned user is just childish, Also banning people and then the user seeing ‘ You have been banned per your request’ is a bloody joke. The longer you let this go on the more it will hurt Xbox in the long run.
I’m still posting on Gears of war forum however you have to be so careful in what you post it’s stupid.

    have a good day Major

    Dave

  • B5D Heyy You

@Jax Demon Major Nelson is the Director of Xbox Live Programming, he does not have control over any anyone elses forums( I don’t even think he does over Xbox.com’s forums, but I may be wrong). Not Gears of War, Bungie.net,COD.

Also at all the Halo 3& COD. You guys like either franchise for different reasons.

I love the Halo Series, but hate the COD Series. I just can’t get into it. I don’t hate any of you Halo hates, but I would like to hear why you dislike it.

Halo 3′s Mutliplayer(Customs and MM) is really easy to get into, Excellent File share, forge and theater Capabilities and the Interaction provided by the Employees at Bungie is excellent. Those are some of the reasons Halo 3 has been in the Top 3 since it’s release.
