  • Vasilii Zaytsev

    SO PSYCHED

    BUT MAJOR

PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE GUIDE IS BROKEN!

  • BigPipeBomb

    Thanks Major!

    Great Show!

  • Anonymous

I liked Project Natal, when he first said motion sensor I was like “Oh, no… please no” But I think it turned out to be better :D

  • A Place for Us

Lots of good stuff. Can’t wait for Modern Warfare 2 and Crackdown 2. :D

  • PsychoFemm

I agree when I first heard that… i cringed a bit. it was especially hard since I was following along with MN live blog and other blogs… no visuals.

but the comments from people who actually got to watch seem to be overwhelmingly positive and optimistic.

can’t wait to get off work and check out some videos!

  • Anonymous

Really like crackdown so hopefully the sequel will be as good as the first

  • Anonymous

@PsychoFemm I watched it at xbox.com I missed the first half hour because it just wouldn’t work, but in the end it was great… Here’s a link to the whole thing but you’ll have to wait before you can watch it, needs to encode the video or something..

  • PsychoFemm

Sweet! thanks… I’ll check it out when I get home…

    must… make… it…. seven… more… minutes….

    :)

  • Arsenic13

With all these new guide enhancements im hoping the infamous guide lagged is killed and we will be smooth 24/7.

  • Surly x Duff

The first 2/3 of the presser had my attention, I was interested, excited, and looking forward to more… but then the Natal was rolled out, and spoiled the party. I see the market for something like this, it makes business sense, but the last time I turned on my Wii was over a year ago. Why should I be interested in it, as a core user? It feels like MS is saying “thanks for your support and money, but I have a new flame, and its not you. Can we just be friends?”

No, we can’t. Not after putting up with the broken consoles, the DRM issues, the investment I’ve already made in your console to the tune of thousads of dollars. The way I see it, you owe me something better than minigames, shovelware, and “Wii HD.”

Can you picture a Halo game with this thing? What do I do, point my finger at the screen, and shout “PEW, PEW, PEW?”

  • Shonk

Let me tell you how much this excited me

I would trade it all for a fixed guide button

and maybe throw in a dolly watch

  • Arsenic13

Thats why its optional. You dont NEED to buy the camera.

  • Anonymous

Major, could you pass the word onto xbox.com, that we need a new “sort by” option for the marketplace on xbox.com. Finding new game videos under popularity and title is hard to do when they first release. Unless I’m missing something…Thanks : )

They are going to speed up the guide. Marc Whitten’s letter for E3 2009 explains it:

Performance Updates. We know that the details also matter. That’s why we’re making a series of updates based on your feedback. First and foremost, the entire Xbox LIVE service is being upgraded for improved performance including better guide and friends access. Some other things we’ve done based on your feedback include revamping the friends sorting list, Achievement views and improving our matchmaking support. There’s always room to improve, and your input really matters to us…so keep it coming!

The rest of the letter is here: http://www.vg-reloaded.com/?p=2450

  • Arsenic13

Thanks for that Z Ocelot. Any idea when this update is coming?

  • CARNAGE RULES

To the guys complaining about the guide. What is the problem with it?

  • Ravensmash

Major, just wondering why i appear to have been banned from the chat on your site.

All i’ve knowingly done is read the discussions and chat, then i refreshed and it said i’m banned from chat : \

  • Shonk

    At carnage rules

Sometimes when you press the guide button it will lock up the 360 for upto 2 mins
    usually around 20secs though

  • DOOBYDAR

Well done MS,The best MS showing at an e3 by far.You have made my day for the 360 and im so looking forward to the future………….thank you.

  • II W4RLORD II

This was a good day for 360 gamers.I can’t wait to get some of theses new games and features, exciting!

  • yolarrydabomb

ok the comments about the guide broken is started since NXE lunch. Their is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE GUIDE!!!

Check your controller or your internet conntection!!! that may be the problem.

  • Shonk

Umm it reads to me like the guide wont be fixed until the fall update

1 year for a fix is pushing it a tad dont you think?

  • II W4RLORD II

It says here that they have addressed the issue with the slow guide etc.Maybe that update will come out soon? http://twitter.com/notwen

  • Alex Atkin UK

YAY if they have fixed the guide/marketplace lag problems. I for one am fed up of going to download a arcade game, having to wait a minute or two for the download trial game link and information to appear. Then if I want to buy it the buy link takes twice as long to appear. I have downloaded so many less demos/trials since NXE because its too painful due to the delays.

It always seemed to me that the problem was that the servers are in the US so those of us outside the US get a lower priority. This is not deliberate act by Microsoft mind you, its the nature of the Internet itself. If there are a lot of people with low latency close to the server they can effectively drown out those with higher latency.

Something similar used to happen long ago on my home network where PCs running Win98 would barely work if I had a download running on a Linux box, as the Win98 networking layer was so much slower. It balanced itself out when I upgraded to WinXP as its networking was so much better.

  • batkinson001

all the new announcements are great and all but they should have done more with Zune integration… last.fm is nice but zune marketplace should have stepped up as a platform and provided this service like its somewhat doing with the videos. Seriously this Microsoft supporting Canadian wants his Zune Marketplace on his Zune in his own country god dammit! I shouldn’t have to use region tricking just to see the damn thing in the zune software…

  • II W4RLORD II

1 vs. 100 is freaking awesome!

  • Lord viscius

Epic fail okay i will say this when i first heard about natal over the net i was midly intrested but after the conference on my dvr i am disappointed natal is supposed to replace the 360 controller but i think it`s just a gimmick seriously this think can never replace the 360 controller i can`t play gear of war with this abomination . If i wanted a wii i`d buy a wii i brought a 360 every step they make to bring in the casual gamers shoves away the hardcore gamers. Every other announcement was gold but natal leaves a nasty taste in my mouth the only good vibe i get from natal is the ability to add clothing and stuff to my games and i only have good feelings about this if i can add these items to my existing avatar

  • UndyingZombie

Awesome show Major, Mucho kudos to you & everyone over there at Microsoft. Congrats on a great E3 & Xbox Live’s new record. I have a question I hope you could answer for me. In the press conference there was talk about some demos being available on Xbox Live from E3. If that is true can you list which demo’s from E3 will be available for download in the Marketplace soon? I know you guys released some demo’s at previous E3′s & it’s has become an awesome addition to this whole phenomenon. Thanks for the everything & keep up the great work.

I’m suing Microsoft for a new pair of socks because they totally blew mines off today! HIOH! Cough cough…….. Really though good job Microsoft and thanks a lot for taking all my money out my wallet with your awesome products….. I needed that for Pop Tarts and things…… :’(

  • Danakin Moorish

I have a question. how’s project Natal behave in low light?
I usually play with a projector and my lights are usually off or set low.
the vision camera wasn’t that great. I hope this has been taken into consideration.

  • wolfzero01

is Facebook & Twitter going to be like avatars & be part of the dashboard or will it be something that you download since I don’t care about or want them.

the Livefm thing is pretty cool though

  • oO MG81 Oo

Finally!!, someone from Microsoft acknowledged the laggy guide and NXE issues!. Well not in those words or in any great detail but stating “improved performance including better guide and friends access” is a start.

  • Shonk

I have no interest in Facebook & Twitter either

its a game console not a dating service

I really hope i dont have to have icons sitting there
    like a bad smell

  • Shonk

Oh and I certainly dont want my child getting access to Facebook either

  • Shonk

    Oh Im not moaning btw

I can see someone people will love having them features
but for users that dont want them plz make sure we can hide them

  • RidinSlow

Basically Zero exclusive games for 2009 that have MY interest. The motion sensor is cool and its great that every Xbox 360 IN THE FUTURE will automatically have one. I just don’t think it will do too much for core gamers.

So there really is no reason for me to go back to Xbox this year…yet. I’m intrigued by the motion sensor, but since I won’t have any new games on Xbox there is no reason for me to purchase one.

It’s about time Microsoft put 1080 videos and streaming them is way better than downloading (at least for rentals).

Last.fm – I like internet radio, but I can run last.fm from a computer without the additional cost of Xbox Live.

Faceboook/Twitter – Don’t use facebook. I am on Twitter, but only for instant text messaging updates (although some people **major nelson** get on my nerves with tweets all through the night.

All-in-all there really isn’t much for me to look forward to with Xbox this year. I guess I’m just not in the demographic that they are trying to reach…

  • oO MG81 Oo

    @DUSTIN KRIEGER
Do you intentionally write sweat everyday as a joke or what?

  • Anonymous

Loved the press conference! Splinter Cell Conviction, Crackdown 2, Metal Gear, Alan Wake and the new Natal Project did it for me! Instant win!

    But where are the demos!?

  • Frayteez

I was there thanks to you Major! Xbox delivered!!!! when will we start seeing/hearing release dates for all this good stuff coming to NXE?

  • oO MG81 Oo

Yeah some rough dates for all this stuff would be nice. I hope they don’t expect us to wait until autumn for the laggy guide fix.

  • samekila

I have been gaming since the commodore 64 days and nothing has blown me away like Project Natal. Endless possibilities I love it. Me and my wife are all ready fighting over who gets to try it first hope it doesnt take years to come out! Also more Crackdown cant wait for that.

  • TES7769

Sorry guys, but Sony got ya at E3 this year. How come MS wasn’t even able to get 1 of the MGS games exclusive to the 360? There’s no excuse why that didn’t happen.

  • TES7769

or even better yet, where was the announcement on the successor to the 360?
