Garou – Mark of the Wolves and Droplitz will be available this Wednesday for 800 points each.
Audio By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson
Anyone else see the judgmental error in releasing Garou the same week as SF2HD drops to 800?
Regardless, Garou will be getting a look, even if we already have a Fatal Fury game on Arcade.
I’ll give Droplitz a Trial too, though it looks like another game I could just find a browser version of.
Wonder if we still going to get the top 10 games list for the last few weeks?
isn’t battlefield 1943 also supposed to come out this week?
I was really hoping for BF1943 this week since they had originally said a June release for that but oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer.
I’ll give the trials for these a look just like I do every week.
SniperED007: Major Nelson said not now, he’s still recovering from jetlag.
WOW Garou great game, too bad you can get it for free on a Emulator like NeoRageX or Kawa-X with free online multiplayer thanks to kaillera, i will still give it a try i might buy it.
Hmmm… Finally some solid word on Garou (Mark of the Wolves). I will be checking this out, but I REALLY want this for my Neo Geo. I’m up in the air on this – quality and animation will be what pushes me buy or not buy. Rage of the Dragons would certainly got me, no questions asked. Shock Troopers (1) would be really nice too as I’m not willing to pay $250 for the cart.
Garou is a welcomed choice. Droplitz sounds interesting. Hmmmm….
Very interesting. I’m looking forward to both of these.
Yeah you can get it on a Emulator for “free”, but, urm, thats illegal..DOH!!
So much for a “June” release for BF 1943…
Very interesting. I’ll be looking forward to these!
Was hoping for Sorry Sliders, it seems the last Wednesday of the month has had additions to Family Game Night.
@Makavelo – You can basically all ports on emulation for free, but its illegal and kind of a moot point.
Garou is considered by many to be one of, if not the, best of SNK’s games. Its animation quality and visuals put everything else on the Neo Geo system to shame.
I’ll be saving my points for battlefield 1943. If it comes out next week or next month I’m not going to spend any points untill so. Microsoft thinks by only telling people this weeks games that people are more likely to spend the points. Not me.
Exactly, I want Garou on my Neo Geo AES and I’ll be comparing the Neo Geo version vs the Xbox360 Neo Geo Emulation. SSII is cool, but is not as fluid as the Neo Geo System’s animation – though I settle for Samshow I, Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury on SNES. I thought Samurai Shodown on 3DO was AWESOME until I was called-out (like you just said) and compared the 3DO version to the actual Neo Geo version. Neo Geo’s animation was like 10x better, hands down. I’ve played Garou before, but I think I can get that for like $150 if I look around hard enough. I really want Shock Troopers, but seems ‘scalpers’ and ‘ebay squatters’ know it, that one I doubt would not be hard to emulate.
I just hope the Xbox Live version of Garou is smooth – not in-game processing, but actually uses the Xbox360 processor. Once you play an original, an emu is just like secondhand spit, unless it is a deadon emu. “Ewww god, no they didn’t…” (I know you’ve been there.)
“Bigger, Badder, Better….. Neo Geo”
@DoubleOT Major mentioned on his podcast that Sorry Sliders is in fact coming for Hasbro Family Game Night this week.
@WarrenG – The SNK ports to XBLA so far have been 100% faithful to their MVS/AES counterparts. Only thing you may have noticed about how “smooth” SamSho II ran on XBLA (or Fatal Fury Special) is that they use a smoothing option by default, making the sprites seem a little smudged (I don’t mind it myself, its an alright filter), but you can turn it off in the options menu.
Garou = best Neo Geo Fighter. Can’t wait to play with GATO
Filed under: Audio
thanks mcmax, glad to hear it.
LordBBH: Being filed under “Audio” may not be an error. The first person I play against has a pretty good chance of hearing lots and lots of “Justice Hurricane!” yells from my Tizoc in Garou, so I think it counts as an Audio-related post.
…Okay, so I’m being silly. Oh well.
BF1943 is till TBA with regards to release date, but it should be out within a few weeks.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 “should” be out next week, I say should because some places have it dated for the 29th which is Monday, yet neither PSN or XBLA games come out on Mondays, Wednesdays for us and I think Thursdays for the PS3.
I hope the demo won’t be exclusive to those who have two gamepads.
Thanks, I usually turn the ‘smoothing’ options off on ALL older games as it makes the game ‘look funny’, I even turn the original sprites on SFIIHDR, although the backgrounds are still in HD. I LOVE good pixels, but I also like good vector-image work. I love the way SNK is doing the King of Fighters XII – 3D models, then frame-by-frame handdrawn animation – true devotion. The animation is totally awesome which makes it a must have. SSII play eludes me, I can barely get in a round before I’m invited to go play something else within seconds.
I hope not. Even though I have like 6 controllers (three that work, three that don’t), I don’t want to fight myself. But then it gives me a chance to ‘mess around’, though not everyone have two controllers or have a reason to have two controllers.
I’m waiting patiently. (whispering) “photon-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n….. canon-n-n-n-n-n-n-n…”
Garou is a gorgeous fighter! Very nice.
Cool. Waiting for Worms 2: Armageddon.
