Arcade, Marketplace By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Pisuke

Great game but the first two matches were laggy as hell.

  • EMFULZ

Finally today is the day! The only thing I don’t like is that EA after so long decides to shut the servers down for games, but hopefully this one lives on for quite some time.

  • Carlito8

Laggy as hell here in the UK as well, pretty much what I’d expect from EA.

  • VEGEMITE 98

great game ruined by lag, fix it!! oh don’t EA will charge us to fix it!

  • Anonymous

fix the market place, and fix the lag.

  • pb2k

Played two matches in the demo and had absolutley no lag. Purchased the game and now I only get totally laggy and unplayable matches (I’m from Germany, seems like it is an european problem, thanks EA!). And the text is extremly small (think Dead Rising small)if played on a SDTV.. well time to get an HDTV..

  • Tirkon

Yes, I don’t like that EA “may retire this game with 30 days notice.”

And pb2k, I have my XBOX hooked up to a cheapo 19″ CRT VGA monitor. It was a cheaper solution to the SDTV problem, compared to buying an HDTV right now.

  • BrooksterMax

Its pretty good not as amazing as I expected, I have not experienced any real lag so far.

  • Tekkie neXt

Awesome, downloading the trial now to test before I buy.

  • DHartmann

I played this demo, just 30min demo time….WTH…

  • Sneeches

I played the demo and loved it, bought the game right away!!!! Also I only played 1 match but I had no lag what so ever.

  • Biff Tanner

If you go to the battlefield uk forums one of the devs is on there getting feedback while they work out the lag so it shouldn’t affect the game for too long.

  • Joergen8

Can’t see it on the marketplace. Not under Arcade or new demos. I hope you know Europe extends to the Ural Mountains.

Game made in Sweden not available 300km to the east. NO DICE!

  • m la taupe

    http://twitter.com/OfficialBF1943

Lag issue has been identified by Dice, they’re working on it.
Since it’s tsill early in US and Canada, there probably isn’t a lot of people palying it now.

  • Joergen8

Ok queued it from the online marketplace now. I hope they arent allocating server time from BF:BC to 43. Bad Company servers are laggy enough as they are (no server browser = matches you to NA servers).

  • Synapse Spectre

All I get is: “Failed to connect to EA online”.

  • Captain Bluey

Lag seems to be much better now.

  • LV54Spacemonkey

I’m not seeing it anywhere on the UK marketplace. Not even an ad based link either.

  • CheekyLeeth

@LV54Spacemonkey (GREAT gamertag, BTW!) Just click that ‘Add it to your queue’ link up there? That has worked for me, I’m not actually near my 360 at the moment.

  • clarky456

    From the official Battlefield twitter

“Bad News, Europe is having heavy Packet Loss causing lag, Good news, we are aware and putting fixes in place as I type. This will be fixed”

  • K04 Passat

Had a good time with this, til my system froze. Don’t know what the deal was. I’m using a new red elite. No lag seen on my end, though.

  • Gr00by

“EA MAY RETIRE THIS GAME AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON http://www.ea.com

Hahahah :) i just love that kind of “start” :>

  • wiirule111

Already bought it.. Its been out in Norway for some hours now.

  • RJ Horsey

The lag is exactly what I expected to be honest. Bad Company was exactly like this the first two days it was out. The thing that is the most annoying is the 30 day ‘retire’ notice. That is just bs.

  • Chitwood7412

Great game many people said it lagged when every one was downloading but I have yet experienced it.

  • Thiago123

Did anyone notice that the trailer for Wake Island on the 1943 page (accessed via the Spotlight channel) has a big giant PS3 logo/ad scrolling across the screen at the beginning?? Oops indeed. (Also says Iwo Jima on the EA logo). Nice.

  • LV54Spacemonkey

@CheekyLeeth Cheers, good idea. I’ll have to do that.

That packet loss issue is no doubt the same issue they had with BF:BC in it’s early days. I can’t go into the details of what caused it (I worked at EA at the time) but it was fixed fairly quickly.

  • Lynch182

does anybody keep getting their console frozen during the game??? its laggy and frozen my console 3 games out of 4 now!! something isn’t right and i never ever ever get kicked from any online games before people question my connection. its laggy and i fear it’ll end up breaking my xbox.

  • JaggedCrane

Minimum of 16 people to play a private match, Inability to join game matches due to “Connection Problems” possibly caused by starting the game by accepting an invite and when a match is joined incredible lag.

The demo is incredibly misleading, waste of $20.

  • oO MG81 Oo

Judging by some of the comments posted so far I think I’ll give this one a miss.

  • CatchableCloud

Well im very dissapointed so far, EA and ms are quick to take moneys from consumers, but i have not even been able to play 3 mins of this game online due to terrible lag, and im on a 50 mbit connection.

You should be ashamed of yourselves EA

  • Digitalspirit

Can MS ever get anything right? Honestly the 360 is a great games console but the way they handle their business is deplorable and what exactly is this “retire in 30 days” crap? It’s not the best way to get users to spend 1200 points with these issues already hanging over the game. It’s about time somemone in command at MS is given a rocket to sort your ship out, this is bad form. Your’re losing customers for this game fast with this sort of advert for your service. No wonder Vista was such a falure. Will MS ever learn? Probably not, they will just create a patch thus creating even more problems … :S

  • CatchableCloud

Have they took the servers down? i got timed out 5 times, and now it just says searching for games, please stand by, what a cluster F

  • Biff Tanner

    Digitalspirit

MS cant help it if EA have some of the most stupid terms and conditions of all games companies, they either have to abide by them like everyone else or the game doesn’t get released, simple as.

  • davidkenobi

Lots of troubles here in France. As EA says : Please check here for live updates from GvD on the BF1943 servers at the jump http://tr.im/roKy (Major gives already gives the link to their twitter http://twitter.com/OfficialBF1943)

But we can not join any party…pretty sad the day a new game is launched. Everyone working with xbox would be aware of this problem since xbox live has million members… !

  • CheekyLeeth

    @Biff Tanner
If I recall correctly, EA’s insistence on being able to use their own servers so as to be able close servers for older games when they wanted to was the main reason they weren’t on Live to begin with. Which brings up an interesting point, if you ask me. Since we are paying MS for the Live subscription, and since it is clear that EA are the ones handling the servers for this and other EA games, surely this means that Silver users should be able to play EA games over Live?

  • Shadow0810

Here’s the official status update, they know about the issues and are working on them. It seems its mainly due to more people ALREADY buying the game than they expected!
“Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can’t join unless someone leaves. But don’t worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.

We have also isolated the issue and improving until we have close to 0 packet loss.

Please keep an eye here for updates.

GvD going on 34 hours of being awake working on this with only 3 hours of sleep from the night before!”

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

I was really looking forward to this one, but it looks like I will save my points to purchase something another day. Just like with NHL 3v3, I simply can’t see gambling on EA not shutting the servers down, especially on an ONLINE ONLY game…if they don’t get the sales they want, and shut it down, what do you do with a game with no single player? Too much risk, with too many early problems, for me to drop $15 on it.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

…and Cheeky has a very good point. Why can’t Silver members play EA games over Live, when it dies not use the MS servers…and why are they even allowed to do this? I could understand if EA had “superior” servers and didn’t want to use the MS one’s, but EA’s servers, and their online service/ support, have been terrible in just about every game. I know I am not the only person who has been in the middle of the game and had it drop due to “servers unavailable”, and they have random, unannounced, server maintenance…I really hate EA, and only buy their games pre-owned, if I don’t just rent them.

  • Shadow0810

    @Killer Scuzzy J

EA posts that because they want people to realize that if 200 people are playing the game, they will have no choice but to shut them down. Now that people are overloading the servers to the point where they are adding more? They most likely won’t shut it down for years.

  • tsaweeos

Why is EVERY multiplayer xbox live arcade game laggy as shit?!

  • Blue Thunder28

Interesting, it’s no where to be found on the marketplace… I have been anticipating this game for a long time :(

  • Tirkon

I’ve been waiting for this for a while, but then I got Battlestations Pacific. Maybe I’ll just stick to that, and avoid BF1943.

  • EldonTLH

@CatchableCloud: “EA and ms are quick to take moneys from consumers” is it? Isn’t it the other way around? Just the same, thank you – someone has to be there to tell if something is worth it and sounds like this one needs a little bit of fixing to begin with.

No worries, though, it’ll most likely get better within the next day or two.

  • Shonk

God i just got it and cant get on any server
it also needs to list servers
    not just quickmatch
so i can choose a uk server

    @KP ScuzzyBunny
Microsoft dont use servers its all p2p
    battlefield games use dedicated servers

the day they retire this im phoning microsoft for a refund of my 1200 points

  • II W4RLORD II

Judging by the comments here, I believe I will pass on this one.

  • Atheist Primate

Why are people passing on a title just because it has server problems in the start? What if they fix the problems in a day or two, will you still refuse to buy a potentially great game? If Modern Warfare 2 has server problems the first day, would you also not buy that game? C’mon. Be patient. They will fix it, but it should’ve been fine from day one. Too many EA games have problems online because they use their own servers. If only EA let Microsoft handle the online servers, we wouldn’t even have this discussion, and (almost) everyone would be happy.

  • MuckRak3r

dude, no way i’m buying this. 1,200 points for a lag fest, server issue riddled, can be cancelled at any time arcade game? don’t think so buddy, don’t think so….

  • II W4RLORD II

@KristofferLygre I’ll tell you why i’m passing on it because i’m not getting ripped off today . I’d rather use my money for gas ,go to the lake, and drink cold beer rather than sit around for a lagfest, no thanks pal.

  • Spitz pass auf

Even Private Matches are not working. We just got 16 People in the Private Game Lobby and could not start the Match. EA i want my MS Points back.

  • WallCandy

The US flag in the game has 12 stripes and 48 stars. Really? I mean.. wow.

  • ToothlessFrog

Happy to see this game get the console love it deserved, but very sad to see no AI bots available. So as soon as the game dies down, your money is ill spent because A) you won’t be able to find a game, and B) EA will disconnect the server as soon as the money stops rolling in.

If this had had AI bots, I would have purchased with no questions asked. Oh well.

  • metallicorphan

    @wallcandy
    -
    -
well, what was it in 1943?…i know there should be 13 stripes, but weren’t there 48 stars in 1943?..as Alaska and Hawaii weren’t added until later, right?

  • rowe33

Right, 48 stars in 1943 but there should still be 13 stripes (red on top and bottom) – haven’t had a chance to play yet to see if that’s right or not.

  • WallCandy

Yeah 48 stars is correct, but 12 stripes isn’t. :D

  • Sneeches

who cares about stripes or stars!!! The US sucks anyways! :P

  • TANK 2old2play

 …. This is why I haven’t bought an EA game since the end of 2006. Their Live servers are suck-tastic. Microsoft letting EA manage their own servers was one of their biggest mistakes. Not sure where the deficiency lies at EA but come on, this is the same nonsense that removed any EA logoed games from my buy list over 2 years ago. EA, there are thousands of IT people out of work now, find a network engineer or three that know what the F*** they’re doing !

  • Anonymous

    3 hours I’m trying to play !!!
hopefully more servers have been added <- NOT ENOUGH

DONT TELL ME EA IS SURPRISED BY THE SUCCESS OF THIS GAME ; it must be the thirteenth BF

1200 MSP games, ads, and the service is getting worse

  • MajorEzyTarget

Well I was having a ton of fun playing the demo with no problems… then I purchased the game and haven’t been able to get back in and it’s already been an hour… le sigh…

  • Rdeal

I played the game for about 3 hours and not one bit of lag but i was getting some graphical glitches here and there

  • MyJewlzHurt

I was going to but it, thought it would be fun online but after reading these comments on the lag and to top it off EA is able to shut down the servers makes me pass….

  • whoshotjr

The EA 30 day notice thing is basically generic legal text that they put in all their online games. It’s basically there so no one sues them when they close the empty servers of their old sports game.

  • El Boxo

Just thought I’d balance the comments out, I DLed this right when they put it out on the marketplace at around 4 am today. There was NO lag and it was superquick to find a server and start playing. I just think EA wasn’t expecting this many people to get it on Day 1 so their servers can’t handle it

  • krisxx

maybe i’ll wait till its a deal of the week, NEXT SUMMER. So when its 800 pts, everyone can cry and bitch that nobodies plays it anymore and they shouldn’t do deals for old games! :)

  • MeS FEAR

i cant join any game…he is looking after a game but nothing is happening…all the time the same message. BF always have been a great game…i just love the franchise. EA should have know that this would be a big success. So i will never understand why they always have problems with their servers. The same problem has been at BF:Bad Company. So com’on EA…fix the problems pls. I want to play it so bad but all i can do is play the tutorial ALONE. Which is so boring. I really hope they will fix it. But its an awesome game!

  • DesertBear360

Nice game but the only kick and major flaw is the fact that “EA MAY RETIRE THIS GAME AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON http://www.ea.com.” Which means that if they retire the game due to poor sales or because they need something to scratch then we lost money since the game is only online multiplayer. They could have given us offline single and multiplayer against bots or even system link. Lets hope that they don’t do an EA screw like they normally do.

  • tominater12

look at that I bought the game and have not even been able to play on match looks like I spent $15 to look at the start up screen.

  • tabicat

Note that this game is online multiplayer only, so after EA shuts down the servers (and they will), you’ll be left with a worthless game, and EA will be laughing all the way to the bank.

A $15 price tag is just adding insult to injury.

  • Darkon X

Game is great, the connection issues however aren’t. It’s safe to say EA is working hard on this issue.

  • MajorEzyTarget

Overall Major this is a quality game that’s worth my points. Please forward our enjoyment to powers that be that show what we are willing to pay 1200 points for.

Though I must admit the EA 30 day notice sort of bothers me, but I don’t expect this to happen with how popular this franchise. At least not anytime in the 8 – 12 months at the very earliest. Great game, looking forward to upcoming map packs (Which you know they’ll do).

  • SumHydroponic

I would love to comment on the multiplayer part of this game… Sadly the only thing I can do is play the turorial. Seriously did I pay $15 to play a freaking tutorial? When is this going to be fixed? I am dying to kill someone.

  • quikDC

And once again EA drops the ball….

  • oAssassin Xo

I am gonna warn you all right now, DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS!
    .
    .
For years I bought BF games and after enough time they don’t work online because EA stops supporting them. Its BS. The fact they say “EA MAY RETIRE THIS GAME AFTER 30 DAYS” ticks me off. I refuse to buy this game now. I’m sick of buying BF games and then after awhile I can’t play them because there are no servers! Its like buying a car then after a year it disappears and your stuck buying a new one! Just STUPID! MS shouldn’t support such stupid companies.

  • Fullmetal Loki

Well, it took me 15 minutes to get in to a game this morning after shelling out $20 for some points and then my dumb a$$ logged out to eat lunch. I come back and can’t get in to a game. “Searching for games, please stand by.” Jeez, what the hell? What happened to game makers giving a $@&% about giving people quality stuff?? *sigh* It’s my day off and I was looking forward to playing this game. Sure, they will fix it in a day or two but don’t they care about dissapointing people on the games release day?? : (

  • K04 Passat

EA may retire the game, due to the dedicated servers. When was the last time you played a game with this many players, this size maps, over live? Not sure how many games on Live have dedicated servers, I only know of Frontlines.

Honestly, I wouldn’t really sweat it… Not as long as EA can pump out DLC, and people actually buy it. There is easy incentive to leave it online.

  • K04 Passat

Is it just me, or has this never even shown up on the marketplace? I bought it via Major’s link.

  • CompactDstrxion

EA MAY RETIRE THIS GAME AFTER 30 DAYS NOTICE POSTED ON http://www.ea.com

    No thanks.

  • Joergen8

And 10 hours later I havent been able to play a single game. I knew this was going to be a bad experience (EA somehow always screws things up) but I didnt expect it to be this bad.

Oh and K04 Passat, hello? How about BF:Bad Company having dedicated servers, its basically the same game as this.. or rather this is an official BF:BC WW2 mod.

The biggest flaw with this and BF:BC is the lack of community dedicated servers (no server runtime released). The best servers on the PC games were NEVER EA SERVERS, but 3rd party servers with gigantic hardware and bandwidth, paid out of the pockets of gaming web sites and fansites. Now that EA is responsible for the hosting, they try to skimp on the costs ending up with situations like this and lag on a daily basis.

EA and Microsoft are making and ass out of themselves with these failures. Too bad there’s no real competition to this incompetence so we cant choose.

  • Arent Argento

I downloaded it and gave it a short spin before heading to work. Got into a virtually lag free match and quite enjoyed my first contact with the BF series. Tried to to get into a match again after work but that failed. I’ll try my luck tomorrow, but this handicapped start made a day one purchase turn into a maybe I should get Monkey island instead.

  • KP ScuzzyBunny

…any EA game has their servers, and for the one’s that come out every year, they “phase out” the old ones. That is why you can’t get online games in Madden, NBA Live, or Tiger Woods for 06 (and I think 07), which, btw, renders some achvs unattainable. I really liked Army of Two and BF:BC, but the server issues and low quality of online games make playing the multiplayer much more of a chore than an enjoyable experience. And to whoever commented earlier…I know MS does not have “dedicated servers” as far as gameplay goes, but they DO have the servers that hold all the stats/ matchmaking/ profile aspect of online gaming, and that is part of what our $50/ yr (or whatever higher price the overseas people pay) is paying for. I don’t see why I pay a yearly fee to MS, a monthly fee to Time Warner, an additional fee for my premium internet, and have to deal with a company that says, right from launch day, that they have the “right” to shut off the online (of an online only game, no less), and that we are supposed to “deal with” laggy games, no matchmaking, and random maintenance because they want to have their own servers. $15…no thanks. And I plan to rent NCAA and Madden, again, so there is another $120 you won’t be seeing.

  • Alex Atkin UK

What people are forgetting is that yes, EA do retire their games early when they should not – but there is nothing stopping Microsoft from doing the same with every other game either.

It will be interesting to see if once the new generation Xbox comes out, how long will Live for 360 remain functioning? How long will we still be able to download our old games? How long will the online patch system remain online? (without it games with DLC like Burnout Paradise, Fallout 3, will no longer work with their DLC)

This is the price of anything where you are relying on someone elses servers.

  • P00K

What I don’t like is that if you read the terms and conditions, they say specifically that they’re collecting personal information including your credit card information, sent to them via Xbox Live.
    .
    No Thanks.

  • TANK 2old2play

I wonder which game is immediately being retired now that 1943 is over capacity and needs servers.

  • TANK 2old2play

–Even private 16 player matches don’t work, we just tried. Can’t play public, can’t play private. Another quality EA title.

  • M Viper

I also had to use Major’s Link to d/l the game. And I haven’t been able to play any match at all.

  • Recurring Dream

Found the solution to my EA account login problems and I suggest you do the same if it keeps giving you an account error:
    http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-1943/734168-login-fail-existing-account.html

  • metallicorphan

it will be interesting to see how the PS3 launch goes tomorrow..hey,maybe if we are still experiencing problems, the PS3 may beat us to the Coral Sea challenge, when it starts on friday

  • Veive257

Major’s link to xbox.com shows that this costs 90,000 points…

  • clarky456

Its been taken down. They don’t want any more players filling the servers so they have increased the cost to 90,000 points.

  • Quicksilver4648

Holy crap Major! This game costs 90000 MS points!
    http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1424/bugu.jpg
    Thats over 9,000!

Something tells me the product page needs to be fixed.

  • CrazyCougar

EA is adding servers as we re discussing this. How EA couldnt have forecast the amount of people that would buy this game is a bit baffling to me. They truly were unprepared, but I guarantee that when the time comes that many mroe servers are added folks will absolutely love this game and forget about this frustration. BTW…ALL EA games comr with the retire clause, as well s 2K Sports games.

  • ninshua

Wow! They sure screwed this one up! This game was supposed to go head-to-head with Halo 3 and COD games for top online play and they couldn’t even beta test it before release or set up enough servers?! EA is horrible!

  • Raiden BR

I cant download the demo.. I get the “This content is not currently available”. Anyone else having the same issue??

  • ExtremeGamer

Worst launch of a game I can remember. Online only and the servers don’t even work. I want my 1200 points back as I completely wasted them on a game I can’t even play, just stare at “Searching for games, please stand by” for the last 35 minutes now.

  • Fullmetal Loki

A little hint to everyone, if you make it in to a game and it doesn’t freeze up on you….stay in that damn game as long as you can. Lol I was in a game 20 min ago and had to leave. Now I’m staring at the “searching…” screen as well. L-A-M-E

  • Anonymous

Just bought the game. Now hurry and fix the servers EA!!

  • Azor

I should have looked here first before buying this POS game. What a f’up EA is. And screw you MS for not allowing returns when the publisher is such a f’up!

  • EFE Assassin

i haven’t even been able to get into a stupid match because it says they are over capacity!
Figures…should have known better with EA…now I lost 1,200 because I can’t even play it. Major, why do you guys even let this stuff happen, i want my points back, I can’t even PLAY!

  • unreal030

    What a waste of money.

I told my friends to buy this weeks ago, and now Several of my friends said “THIS IS THE FIRST AND LAST ARCADE game they will ever buy”

M$ just lost a lot customers for the future through this garbage game that you cant EVEN PLAY after spending 15$

  • MajorEzyTarget

oh give it a rest unreal… they just didn’t anticipate this many people would buy the game. They will fix it, just give them a day. Would you rather have them halted the amount of downloads vs their server capacity? You’d prolly bitch about that too because you wouldn’t have gotten a copy.

  • Stryker412

This is about par for the course for EA.

  • Blue Thunder28

Still not working for me… back to Prototype then… really disappointed but I know it’ll all work out and the game will be great.

  • Azor

Due to the issues with EA again and this game, I hope that M$ won’t let EA launch another XBLA game without proper quality control against them.

  • Wickedfool

well at least you guys can download it. I downloaded the trial this morning and when i went to unlock full version, it crashed. The points were deducted but the full version never showed up in my history. Basically i spent 2 hours on the phone with customer support to finally be told to wait until tomorrow when these “supposed” marketplace issues clear. Lame. I kind of wish I could see the lag. I love how they are always surprised by the fact that people actually want to play their games and yet they refuse to prepare. And in my case, it was great to finally get the “wait and see how tomorrow goes” line from the support.

  • OS Perry

Not that I’ll never get this game… but tried for a long time tonight to get into a match… so NO, I’m in no hurry to get this game and spend my hard earned money on this kind of deal, if this is going to be the typical EA fiasco. And I may never get this game. Who knows, but it definitely reaffirmed that EA just doesn’t get online… like some companies.

    Nice impression EA.

hey MS you should start making big fine’s on if someone screw up like this i mean this is just not good they should expect this its been what 8hr since any one cant get in and what lot of people fork in point’s for this game that they cant play boy i hope the private room is peer to peer hosing and whats the deal with needing 15 players i bet only hand full can get 15 friends online man EA idea’s is so unrealistic that i bet they think the real world is a game that they created… not only its a wast of money and poor planing for a big corporation but MS its putting a toll on your online rep thats how bad it is major and the need to work on there online issues “looking at EA”.. if i was you ea just stick with peer to peer hosting or make sure you do a mass open beta on it before pricing…

  • SeeUInTheFuture

lol server fail, but hey its EA what do you expect? I’ll get this game when everything is straightened out. A MP only game with no servers? haha failure.

  • psymatiq

havent been abel to join anything. Atleast i got the main menu <.< .

  • RockStar AV8R

Very poor job even for EA. $15 and I can’t even play the stupid thing. Login Failed every time… And shame on MS too… this reflects just as poorly on Microsoft for not keeping a handle on their service. People reading this blog may know it is a EA problem, but everyone else just things their “Xbox is broke”. At this point in time things like this should just not happen.

  • Sticky Owens

Went to “instabuy” it yesterday night, but for some strange reason i thought i would try the trial first, just to be sure, downloaded ok, but i then spent 20 mins searching for a quick match, lol! what the hell is this crap, is this crap running gears of war 2 matchmaking?

Tried a few times and could never find a game, so went and played some GRAW2 instead :D

Glad i never spent the points on it now, shame really as i loved bad company :(

  • PiNkEyE69

Well I had fun last night (sarcasm).
Loaded the game up only to get “cannot connect to EA online”
After searching around EA’s site I find out it’s becuase me EA account is old and needs migrating to the new one and the gamertag relinking.
Did that only to be told that the email to complete the linking process will be sent to the email onmy gamertag – then shows the the email address for my gamertag, but it’s an email address I last had for my gamertag over a year ago and doesn’t exist anymore. grrr.
Anyway after 2 more hours I finally managed to get them linked…. Then spent 10 minutes button mashing to get into a game.
However, once in it was fun, lag free and it brought back memories of why I still have BF1942 and Vietnam on my PC.

6hrs after buying it, still couldn’t get into a game, well done EA.

  • Rick Dias PK

I’m hardly surprised the evil empire botched their own game launch. They run their own servers so they can discontinue play whenever, making games truly ‘disposable’ and forcing fans to buy the next edition. This is unacceptable, when many games allow you to host your own servers. All it amounts to is corporate greed, and completely undisguised greed at that. No sale here, and I’m not sure I’d even accept a free copy of this one if it came up.

  • MajorEzyTarget

Well regardless of people’s feelings about EA I know I got my $12 worth of fun for the week. This game is really friggin fun and what a deal considering the average arcade game that gets posted. Sure the servers were a mess today but as we all know they weren’t expecting this many hits. Towards the late evening I didn’t have one problem finding a solid game and I played for a good 3-4 hours.

Looking forward to playing with some friends soon and remembering the good ol’ days of BF42 action.

Kudo’s to Dice for making a really great update for a classic game.

  • MajorEzyTarget

Now we just need them to update Medal of Honor =)

  • psymatiq

EA get ya freaking servers up… i play for 15 seconds and then lose connection to the server….. waste of money so far.

  • noddegamra uk

    I hate EA..

  • Gr00by

Hmm, there is really something wrong.
    Take a look at : http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025841097e/

    it cost 90000 MSP!

  • MeS FEAR

it cost 90 000 Points cuz microsoft dont want that more ppl buy it. I think the Game is broken.

  • Gr00by

So they should remove it, maybe someone got these points and accidentally buy the game ? (ea stays that refunds are not possible)

  • Huddy72

It never ceases to amaze me that companies underestimate how popular their games are going to be. Surely MS and EA are in communication with each other and can estimate the number of players that will be queuing up to play this game on launch day.

@Gr00by: Nice thought but I seriously doubt anyone has 90,0000 points in the account – that’s $1,100 (£765).

Slightly off topic, but related to large amounts of points, did you know you would need 491,038 MS Points to buy everything on Live (http://www.mspconverter.com/). That’s just over $6,000 or £4,000. That’ll keep you gaming for a while….

  • Rixxar 06

at least in europe there are now enough server to guarantee a good connection. and man its one of the best XBLA title out there.

  • Chickiquin

30 minute demo – Not enough gameplay for me to buy it. Way to go EA/Dice

  • Wickedfool

I hope Microsoft knows this is making them look pretty foolish. If the release goes smoother on PS3, then the press should have a field day. I dont see how an Online Only game is not prepared for the release. Servers should not be why the game is unplayable. Microsoft needs to step in and force EA/Dice to step it up.

Major, what is the deal with the Marketplace issues? If you go to xbox.com/Support, the Marketplace is showing RED (may experience problems). When is that going to be fixed? Its been that way for at least 24 hours now. Lack of info is getting old.

  • Blue Thunder28

The game is extremely fun, I absolutely love it, so glad I purchased it.

  • CatchableCloud

Still haveing issues, connected, then no game, loading then we couldnt find any games, good old EA never changed messing the consumer about, well this is my last time buying EA products, period.

  • CatchableCloud

Oh and one more thing EA enjoy my hard earned 12 pounds you bunch thieves.

  • Sticky Owens

Arghhhh, tried the trial again this morning and managed to get into a game, so i assumed they had fixed it!

Just came home from work, paid to unlock it and now it still wont find any feckin matches :(

    BattleFail 2009

  • MajorEzyTarget

If there was a way to hold you to your statement CatchableCLoud I would… because I bet you’ll be buying an EA game soon enough, whether you like it or not.

  • PsYcHoFILTER07

Its just really frustrating to see this happen, You should put there online standards higher by making sure there is plenty of servers at launch. There obviously wasn’t enough so why have they launched unprepared? This isnt the kinda standard you would expect these days, Its an amazing game when it runs well. I hope this gets fixed soon and in future gets prevented, especially on a notoriously famous popular franchise like battlefield!!

  • HYpKrOniC DuDe

Had some issues in the early going (yesterday). No problems since!! Nice game, plays well, looks good…well worth $15.00. Hope EA doesn’t pull the rug out after the 30 days!

  • BrooksterMax

Hmmmm, was an insta-buy for me now with these connection problems its a little frustrating. You may forgive a 400 game, but 1200…

  • Anonymous

This was one of the games I was really looking forward to but $15 dollars for only 3 maps, the massive connectivity issues, and EA’s “disclaimer” is keeping me away. Sorry, but I have a very unfriendly history with EA and the Battlefield series since they officially pulled the “30 day notice” on Battlefield: Vietnam so they could market Battlefield 2. I don’t trust them to not dump BF43 since they’ve prominently added this disclaimer, nor do I trust them to add REASONABLY PRICED DLC. $15.00 for this with 3 maps when I can get almost ANY Battlefield title for the PC for under that (except Vietnam *grumble*) and play on dedicated servers that are run better than EA’s ever were? No thanks.

  • Big Scooby 82

I dunno, does anybody else here have a hard time reading any of the text in this game? Everything from the in-game font/text that shows the guy you killed or got killed by, anything in the help files where you can read up on how to play this game(or cannot read in my case) Even the stats screen is unreadable.. its like the same problem with the lost and damned gta 4 dlc.. the font is so tiny and “fancy” that the words seam to stick together and blur between the letters making the word/sentence unreadable… Anybody else have this problem? BTW im playing on an HD setup with 1080p via hdmi..

  • BROKENRADIO541

Time to get a bigger TV. It’s an unfortunate trend in games these days, but the fonts are getting smaller and smaller to cater to people with huge HD setups.

  • Big Scooby 82

just give me more money… then i’ll get a bigger tv

  • DesertBear360

Has anyone received an error message stating “You are not authorized to access this page.” when you click on “My Soldier” on the Battlefield 1943 website even after being logged in.

I guess EA doesn’t like me. Guess I’m going to stick to Mass Effect 2 and 3 being my last EA titles.

  • BLiTZ Rahul

Sucks to be India cuz of this very reason :(
