    Cool! Downloading now.

Region free for anyone caught in Sony’s dumb last minute exlusive deal for Europe. I Got a copy from Canada and it works fine on an UK 360 !!! Pretty decent game too, not awesome but decent…

  • Chitwood7412

    Cool will try.

  • ShaggyB

sweet…. been wanting to try this one.

  • Danowat32

Shame the demo isn’t region free…..

  • p4n0pt1c0n

first no “Kodu” for me (here in Ireland) and now stupid region locked demo :/ note to self – next time create fake US live account (instead of legal IE account) and use VPN to download anything I want :/

  • AndyW360

Here’s an idea Major, why not make your blog show news articles that are related to the actual country it is being viewed in, I am in the UK, so why show me a demo for Ghostbusters for North America, so annoying !!!

  • Bennyishere

Suppose I will try this in a week when I can download it with my US silver account. I have very low expectations, though. Never been a fan of Ghostbusters and reviews have been less than stellar.

  • limerickred

First Sony delay full release in Europe and now cant even download the demo. Have ordered a region 1 copy but would have been nice to play the demo while waiting.

  • MartinChris

Played it, completed it, loved it.

Thank goodness for region free games!

Played it, love it, didn’t completed it yet :o)
Thank goodness for region free games!

I also agree with that! *grin*

@ Bennyishere: I don’t know what reviews you’re reading. The game has a score of 80 on metacritic, and users have given it a 9.1 out of 10.

  • Ark Hunter

Cool, I’ll definitely try it out.

  • Spargo CXVII

Anyone who is a fan of the movie, should try this demo. Good solid game.

This game was not as great as I had hoped. An 80 score would be just about right. The voice-overs are the highlight for me.

If you want region free gaming, get a PS3.

  • deltawing12

Really excited about this! Thanks! :)

  • EldonTLH

@AndyW360: Why not follow AceyBongos (Major Nelson of Europe, so to speak) at http://www.twitter.com/aceybongos instead?

  • AndyW360

@EldonTLH: I knew of a few 360 tweeters like OXM but did not know that AceyBongos was on there, so thanks for that, much appreciated.

  • Quicksilver4648

Why region lock a demo when the game is region free?

  • BryceS

Maybe Major knew that he would get some flak for posting a US-only demo and that’s why his avatar is hiding!

The delayed release in Europe is annoying, but there are places where you can buy the region-free version.

At Play Asia, the Asian version is cheaper, but currently out of stock: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-4fx2-71-dw-49-en-15-ghostbusters-84-j-70-3cs4.html

The US version is more expensive but available now: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-4fx2-71-dh-77-1-49-en-15-ghostbusters-84-j-70-2hlj.html

Both have English as language options according to the website.

It just seems to be another example of companies clinging to 19th century business models where they try and pretend that the world can still be split up into different ‘regions’ where different rules apply. It just isn’t the case anymore and artificial attempts to create differences through such means as region-coding just encourages people to find ways to circumvent them.

It’s one of the reasons why people from the UK come here instead of taking any notice of Aceybongos. It’s because he is utterly irrelevant compared to Major Nelson. Their Inside XBox is beyond pathetic because they just don’t get the access that Major does. I watched an episode recently where they basically answered three reader questions in a row with a “don’t know” answer. There’s 10 minutes of my life wasted watching that drivel! It would make much more sense all-round if the European Inside XBox was completely disbanded and we just got Major’s stuff instead – we get (broadly) the same games (usually) at the same time, so why not just have one team providing video to all English-speaking terratories? Why do we have to come out of the Xbox and fire up a web-browser to see Major’s Minute? But that would break down the illusion of the different ‘regions’ which Microsoft is desperately trying to maintain. Bizarre when you consider that Microsoft, possibly more than any other company, has been instrumental in creating the global village which we now live in.

I tried the demo on both 360 and PS3, and Wii version is clearly the best.
Its still a good movie game for once.

  • SeeUInTheFuture

Rented it on the Wii and loved it! I’ll probaly end up buying it on the Wii

  • A Place for Us

    Leak this to Europe. :P

  • Binarynova

Definately going to have to try out this demo!

  • Anonymous

thanks for this, downloaded it fine.

  • Thiago123

Excited to try this because I have been on the fence about the game. I really appreciate it when dev/publishers release demos so that I can make an informed purchase. But sadly, this one swayed me to NOT buy the game. The Ghostbusters vibe I love so much from the movies is there, but the gameplay felt decidedly average.

  • captpluto9465

I didn’t really like the demo. The controls didn’t feel tight and the action was too chaotic to get a handle on capturing the ghosts. Made me want to play Folklore for some catchin’ action. ;-)
