I require everyone to buy Monkey Island, no option.

Monkey Island is an absolute bargain for 800 points, I was expecting 1200 for the redone graphics, music and added voice work.

It’s one of the few games I’ll be buying without even getting the trial first.

Monkey Island FTW! I can’t wait for this. Loved the PC came and I’m thrilled that I’ll be enjoying an update of it for a mere 800 points.

I have no idea what Madballs in….Babo Invasion is, but it’s a really stupid title. I’ll check it out, though.

WOW 800 points, i was expecting this to be at least 1200 if not 1600 points.
Well done lucasarts or whoever decided to price it at 800 points, i can see this shifting alot of copies at that price. And i’ll be buying some points so i can purchase it once its out.

I was actually worried that the asking price for Monkey Island was going to be 1200 points, so glad that it’s five dollars cheaper than what I expected it to be! I can’t wait to play this!

Seems to me like the last few weeks line-up is far better than this years summer of arcade. Only Trials HD and Shadow Complex are the only titles worth the price for me.

Whereas in the last couple of weeks we’ve had Worms 2 800pts (good value), BF 1943 1200pts (again good value)and now Monkey Island at 800pts. This years promotion will almost certainly get nowhere near the sales as last year, someone should get a good talking to for that!

Nice, I was very much expecting Monkey Island to be 1200 and therefore a no buy, although i could see the legitimacy of that price point. I just spent money on worms 2 and BF 1943 though soooo…later…

This week Monkey Island next week Splosion Man. Damn this summer is expensive. I spent more on Arcade the last two month than the entire last year.

Secret of Monkey Island at 800 points is a must buy. I was expecting 1200 since this (sadly) looks like the new norm.

Will be great to re-play the game again. It’s been many years since last time I play it.

well Monkey Island day one purchase. i would even today for it. Hopefully it sell very well so we can see some more updated Lucasarts Games, Maniac Mansion, Loom, Dig and the Indiana Jones Games would be awesome

Awesome awesome, and even better at 800msp. Does it include the copy protection system from the Amiga and PC with that spindle and faces that was a bugger to photocopy (to preserve the original naturally).

Oh yeah. Monkey Island at that price = instant buy for me. Who ever is the guy (or girl) who ultimately decided to price it at that sweet spot deserve a pat on the back.

Never played Monkey Island, but for 800 points I’m buying it.

I was going back and forth between the 360 and PC versions. Ultimately I think I’ll go with the PC version since we don’t know if the games will transfer to whatever the new XBOX is. At least with the PC version I know I can play it for years to come.

Recently, LucasArts began releasing their old adventure games via Steam, and for those people that never played the Indy games or The Dig… I envy them. And I envy all those like DenmonX who will for the first time gaze upon the everlasting genius of The Secret of Monkey Island… in HD.

Monkey Island is already mine!!!! Looking forward for my all time favorite point and click adventure…and lucasarts do a remake of the other 2 monkey island episodes too pls!!! I love these episodes.

I always thought how awesome it would be if a old Lucasarts SCUMM game came to the XBLA. But I figured it would never happen because it was too simple and too good of a idea. Instead we would get stuff no one wants or asks for like “Hyperboarding Super Racers” or some nonsense.

Here we are two days away and I STILL can’t believe we’re getting this game. Just a undeniable classic. XBLA has a lot of great stuff on it, but this game has to be one of the best, if not the best thing ever released on it.

Monkey Island – yesss! I’ll be buying this immediately.

unbelievable awesome adventure game, this time with Dominic Armato as Guybrush Treepwood(he was voicing Guybrush ever since Curse of Monkey Island back in 1997), redone graphics, ability to switch between original and special edition graphical upgrade, remastered soundtrack ~ only fool won’t buy it.

Superb!, I remember playing this on my 486 lol. Cannot wait for this!

Haha, that “Madballs” game looks utterly VILE. Someone who deals with the arcade releases must really have a vendetta against someone who helped make that horrid-looking abomination.

I mean, giving it the high price and then putting it up against MONKEY. ISLAND.
It’s literally a both-ends-of-the-scale week this week. Something brilliant and priced right, versus something utterly awful and overpriced.

Okay guys, I haven’t had a chance to ever play Secret of Monkey Island. Could someone fill me in on this game and help me decide if I should buy this game or not. Any help would be appreciated.

@SumHydroponic: It’s an old LucasArts point and click adventure game. Why not just try the demo tomorrow and decide based on that?

Its a point and click adventure game, one of the most famous from the early 90s. You know the sort, click on “get” then highlight the mug onscreen, then “use mug” with tap. Its going to be a retro-fest tomorrow.

Great times for Live Arcade. First Sam & Max, Worms, BF1943 and now Monkey Island and there is still Summer of Arcade to come.

They should not only put the price on game bits/bytes size but also on reply ability fallue.
As Monkey Island and most of the point and click adventure have a one play only ability. which is to bad anyhow what about old content don’t they get a price reduction?

Yes i know that there are more episodes of monkey island but the 4th and 5th episode have already better graphics so i just thought that they should do a remake of the second and third episode. Indiana Jones has been a great adventure too.So LucasArts u know what to do! ;-D

How do you know Madballs is horrid? Have you played it cause im pretty sure you haven’t!
It hasn’t faired to badly in the reviews i’ve seen on Teamxbox and Ign so i’ll give it a go with the trial and see how it is.

Going to have to agree with DJ Deathstar on this one…just watched the trailer for the Madballs game and it looks like hectic, intense fun. 1200 points hurts, but this might be great fun for multiplayer, so I am definitely going to download the demo and give it a shot before I judge. Also, buying M.I. fo’ sho!

800 MS pts sounds like a really good deal for a remake of Monkey Island! I will have to check this out tomorrow evening for sure! Now, if that “remake theory” could have been applied to “TMNT: Turtles in Time”…now that would have been somethin’ special.

@DJ Deathstar Oh I’m still going to trial it don’t get me wrong, just saying that from observations it looks absolutely terrible. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Now all it has to contend with it being released alongside Monkey Island.

Just finished playing the first episode of the new ‘Tales of Monkey Island’ series and really enjoyed it. Yes I can play my old copy of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, etc. etc. on pretty much any platform under the sun using ScummVM, but I’ll be buying this because I really want to see all those games updated and modernised – Grim Fandango would work superbly with the XBox controller. You never know, if they sell well enough, then Lucasarts might sanction some more episodes of other properties. Lucasarts making good games again? Thought I would never see the day! (Wonder if they’ll remake X Wing and TIE Fighter for XBLA?)

Hm, should I get this for the 360 or PC?
I’ve kind of been wanting a good multiplayer game though. Madballs is out as it only has online multiplayer, not single console. Seriously game devs, the 360 can use four controllers for a reason. I was disappointed that Ghostbusters is only one player per Xbox as well.
And I’m not sure about Worms 2 Armageddon. I liked the PC interface a lot better than the one for Worms 1 on the 360. Unfortunately neither Worms Armageddon or World Party work on Vista with the integrated graphics card I’m using.

Played a couple games of Madballs. It wasn’t bad, especially with four players.
The maps seem like they’d be cramped with 16 players, do they have bigger ones?

Wahay! … Like every one else I was expecting Monkey Island to be 1,200 points. At that price I was humming and hawwing about picking it up, and was probably still going to do it. But at 800 points, I’m getting it for sure.
Great decision by MS and LucasArts (or Lucasfilm Games as it once was )
