    what up major

  • Archangel3371

Looks like Ikaruga got a nice little boost from last week’s sale. I’m not too sure how to feel about seeing like half the community games list filled with these non-game types of “apps”. I can see why developers of the usual more game-types might feel disheartened.

  • metallicorphan

go Monkey Island go…now bring on part 2!!

  • III Bish0p III

Wow, COD4 came up over COD 5 with its Shiny new Map packs? Sweeeeet. Battlefield is AWESOME! I hope they just fix the chat so you can find ppl to party up with if no friends are online. Other than that i have had no issues with it, I’ll play that will MW2 is out.

  • gaz721

How can Starwars Battlefront 2 be no.2? I’m lucky if i can find a game at all, let alone a game that doesn’t need the dlc maps.

  • Keeby Boy

It’s going to be funny if Gears 2 ever passes World at War.

  • metallicorphan

    @Gaz721

have you tried late at night?(our time),there are usually quite a few people on,but during the day its dead…i know a few people who play at night, and i know there is still a huge community love for this game

hopefully that Community will be rewarded this Friday with the Lucasarts announcements at Comic-Con

  • Makavelo

    Community Games are a joke

  • Exu

No Madballs or Le Tour de France? There’s a surprise.
Personally I thought Madballs was okay but not okay enough to buy, wouldn’t be surprised if that opinion was reciprocated elsewhere. Le Tour de France was just crap.

  • amacvane

Yeah, so Battlefield 1943 is a pretty bad-ass Arcade Title. I have quite a few friends who stay away from Arcade games (they find that the investment in full retail games pretty well lays claim to their gaming budget), but I have had so much fun with this title that I’m petitioning pretty hard for them to change their minds.

As for Monkey Island, I still haven’t picked it up but have every intention of doing so. I don’t believe that I played beyond the first two games, so hopefully this one’s success will lead to more make-overs. All in all, a good time for Live Arcade.

(On a side note, it’s crazy that CoD4 has topped CoD5 for the time being… this is one hell of a brand)

  • Ramstein

Kinda sad to see Madballs wasn’t on there. But it was to be expected, Madballs doesn’t have a name like “Battlefield” or “Call of Duty” in front of it, so all the mouth-breathers are far to busy with 3 whole maps to be bothered with Madballs’ 21 maps(not counting the infinite user-generated maps in Invasion mode) and gameplay that is clan/competitive-friendly. Oh well, their loss.

  • r00taBEGGAS

We gotta get SHENMUE 2 back up on the original xbox list so they might make a sequel. SPREAD THE WORD MAJOR NELSON and major nelson fans!

  • StabbyMcKnifey1

    LOL!!!
Call of duty 4 beat world at war and waw’s new maps were only out recently with another pack on the way… and cod 4 hasnt had a new map since april 08 but still beat it! brilliant… cod 4 is soo much better than waw

  • Archangel3371

@ Ramstein Yeah I like Battlefield and Call of Duty, so what. Seriously what’s with people and their freakin’ attitude these days.

  • I Scarface UK I

Well maybe WAW will Flop now in the next few weeks. I think maybe Gears and Battlefield may overtake as Gears getting new maps+Campaign for cheap and Battlefield seems very popular
    1.Halo 3
    2.COD 4
    3. ????

  • Ramstein

@ “l337″ guy: Nothing wrong with being a mouth breather, didn’t mean to offend you. Just gotta breathe from your nose every now and then by playing something that isn’t. Part 8 in a series. :)

  • Archangel3371

@ Ramstein It isn’t “1337″ because I didn’t put it there to stand for internet speak but whatever. I do breath from my nose just fine. So you feel a need to trash talk others just because they like something you don’t? Seems like a pretty sad thing to do but again whatever. Carry on whining and moaning and I’ll carry on playing what I enjoy.

  • emuholic

Madballs is worth a second look if you did not properly try it last week. The single player campaign is average but where it excels is the multiplayer mode. I think in the demo you are allowed 3 games on multiplayer so it is well worth trying the game again.

There are over 20 different maps with a few game varieties; skirmish, team deathmatch etc. Each side has different classes of Madball which unlock as you get kills etc. There are probably close to 20 different weapons in total which also progressively unlock. And if that was not enough there is Invasion mode which allows you to build your own map. I just spend 3 hours playing multiplayer with some friends, it is really good fun!

  • oxymoronx420

Oh what a good week on XBL… they’ve brought the silverlight ads to the dash here in canada and they’re quite bad.

The first video ad we got was for a damn phone company (telus) it’s got nothing to do with gaming… this is what many of us were worried about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMeTTwKFzAw

Thankfully you guys did this right when my gold membership ran out… im not renewing as long as there’s irrelevant video ads slowing down my dashboard and playing music.

Seriously, major promised this stuff would be relevant and enhance the dashboard experience.
Well, advertising for a phone company hardly relates to video games.

    You lied Major… great job!

  • metallicorphan

@Scarface UK-new maps are due in a few weeks for W@W as well(map pack 3-August)

  • Chitwood7412

1943 is a great game. But I have been torn away from it as I have found the glory that is Mass Effect. Little late I know but it is fun.

  • XxLightkunxX

    @Archangel

..you start some REALLY weird arguments. Stop getting offended so easily, christ, Lord forbid your mother burns your hot pockets.

    @ oxymoron

Crap….so you already have the Starlight Ads and they aren’t anywhere NEARLY as “enhancing” as Major said they would? Thought so, unfortunately. A bunch of corporate BS.

  • LittleBlueAlien

Microsoft’s Cake and Eat it too attitude:
    http://kotaku.com/5318124/new-dashboard-commercials-bring-ad-breaks-to-your-360
    Unbelievable.
I’ve posted a complaint in the Xbox Live forum for UK and Ireland – I encourage all others to do the same in your own region.

  • ChargingMuffin

I prefer Halo to all the Call of Duty games, but CoD4 deserves to be ahead of World at War. Simply a better game and was more original in its time.

  • Anonymous

    nobody can beat halo 3

  • UKresistance

I’d watch the MS adds in exchange for free video downloads. Like how TV works. But it’s ridiculous to put up with adds on a service I pay for so that MS can get paid twice.

  • Alex Atkin UK

I wish they would make another Conker, its ALWAYS in the top 10 list.

A lot of the rest of the original Xbox list already has sequels on 360.

  • Us3d ta b3

I refuse to believe that Gears 2 has more players than BF:1943. Quit padding the stats Of Gears 2 to make it look like less of a failure than it is.

  • Doh Ray Egon

    @Ramstein:
You’re name calling people who don’t want to play Madballs? Wow…Madballs fanboy…never saw that coming.
    @XxLightkunxX:
You should try reading ALL the posts. Archangel didn’t start it…Ramstein did.
    @TricolorPanda:
Ummm…you realize Halo 3 was beaten most of the time last year by CoD4 and has been losing many times this year to World At War?

  • amacvane

Seriously, enough with the “I pay for for Live so I shouldn’t see ads” argument. You pay for the internet and you get ads. You pay for cable and you get ads. You pay for a movie and you get ads. This argument is stupid… Microsoft is utilizing its service to earn money from both its users and advertisers, just like every other service/medium we use on a daily basis.

  • The 7raveler

    @ Us3d Ta B3
And what motivation would Microsoft have to do that? Under your logic, all of the Top Ten 360 games would be published by MGS. There is a very active and fun Gears community…just because you don’t play it does not mean that it suffers. Quite the opposite, in fact.
    @ Doh Ray Egon
Halo 3 was the most played game over live last year, so your COD 4 Stat is irrelevant. And I bet that if you go back, Halo has more weeks this year at number one then WAW does. Plus Halo is almost 3 years old, whereas WAW is not even one. And do NOT give me “waah th3 c0mmun1tt13s r spl1t” horseshit. When ODST comes out, I guarantee that will not split the Halo community, and when MW2 comes out, people will forget all about the piece of shit that came before it.

  • TotalD78

    @ AndrewMP
I pay a cable company for both internet and TV. They are not the ones advertising on my internet, it is the sites that advertise, and I wouldn’t pay for a site that chose to badger me with adds. As for the TV, the content providers (or networks) are the ones who do the advertising not the cable companies.

  • MR SUPREME69

people must be getting excited for modern warfare 2…i am. WAW sucks compared to it

  • RuairiAU

I just dont get it. Why do people like about Halo so much? What am I missing? I’ve played it a bunch of times and its just whiney teenagers smack talkin. Is that it? Is that the big appeal? The game aint that good in comparision to COD:WaW or BF1943.
Are these figures bloated because Halo supports 4 player split screen online? It will be good to see if the new user rating system mirrors these figures.

  • Doh Ray Egon

    @The 7raveler:
Halo 3 wasn’t constantly on top of the charts last year or this year. So for someone to say “Nobody can beat Halo 3″ is just a false statement to make since it already has been done. Nothing you say can change that.

  • oxymoronx420

For those that have asked, the silverlight ads really are THAT BAD.

Seriously, the first ad they put up has music that sounds like a retarded monkey slurring into a mic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMeTTwKFzAw

If they wanna put up GOOD ads that are RELEVANT to XBOX and GAMES then im all for it.
But THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MAJOR SAID WOULD NOT HAPPEN!

It’s freakin sad guys, hopefully when they branch these horrible ads out to the UK and US they’ll at least be for DLC, upcoming games or stuff relevant to the xbox live community.

A stodgy old phone company from western canada with poor customer service does not have anything at all to do with xbox360.

  • The 7raveler

Technically it has not. If you are talking on year by year basis, then it has not been beaten. If you are talking week by week, then all you have to do is look at the charts. Overall it has not been beaten, and every time the game has been in 2nd or 3rd, it has a first place finish as well. Neither of the other games can say that.

  • hammer1811

    hey guys whatsup! =D

  • hammer1811

    guys check this out

    d(-_0)b

    hahahaha look at that guy!!

  • moocow21

I actually got to play Halo 3 multiplayer for the first time in a year these last couple of days since my friend who had the paid maps brought over his hard drive. I think it’s plain disgusting that a game I paid a full $60 for that isn’t an MMO requires me to keep paying more money after launch to enjoy the game modes I once used to be able to (there’s like 3 out of probably 15-20 playlists that DON’T require paid maps).

  • The 7raveler

    @ Moocow21
Do you have the 4 free maps? And there are 14 playlists, about 6 or 7 of which do not require the Legendary or Mythic maps. Besides, together, all 4 mappacks cost 17.50. For 13 maps! So stop whining and realize that it is a business, so they are going to do things to encourage you to buy the maps.

  • hammer1811

Mr. 7raveler? Where do you travel to?

  • aStrangeDisease

The new ads on the dash aren’t that bad. You’re not forced to watch them. They haven’t hurt me.

@oxymoronx420, 1)You don’t even have a gold account, so you can’t complain. 2)Telus is game-related because they provide high speed internet.

    Oh, and go Halo!

  • Blue Thunder28

The Telus ad is game related because they sponsor 1v100 and when you click the ad it takes you to the 1v100 page. Besides, I love that ad.

  • Searing Wave

I too am [pleasantly] surprised that Call of Duty 4 beat out World at War. Maybe some ignorant players finally saw the light.

Yay for Halo 3 again! Can’t wait for the new maps (and any more after that), ODST, Reach, and whatever may come after those. Every year is a good year for Halo.
