How can you edit your survey information if something is incorrect? There is no option on the connect site to do so…

On the Connect website it says I have been accepted and its welcoming me to the preview program – I can also access that specific part of the Xbox.com forums, does this mean I am part of the first wave?

@MrBigRules There’s form on the MS Connect site to change your console ID, but that’s all. It’s under “Correct your registered console ID” after logging into the preview page.

I am curious It says the expired WLID feature will come later in the preview. will that be another update or just won’t be active until later? I have a old secondary account that expired and i have content i cant transfer to my newest console so I’m excited to try this. I hope it keeps my download history that’s all i care about with it.

I would like to advise EVERYBODY that if your Microsoft Connect page says you’ve been accepted, but you haven’t gotten an e-mail … you are in, no questions asked. As a tester for the NXE Preview Program in November 2008, I’ve been through this experience once.

Let’s just hope that as a NXE tester, that doesn’t void any chances of me getting this update … considering my Microsoft Connect page has not updated.

Just got my email

I just got my email. Apparently it came before the status on Microsoft Connect said I was in. The email doesn’t say when the preview will appear though. It also says the preview is good until the public release. Does this mean it will have to be downloaded again?

I haven’t got my e-mail yet. I think this may have something to do we have having a Mac. :p

If you haven’t got an email yet, Try going onto Microsoft connect and checking your dashboard, it will tell you if you are in. Just turning on the box now to see if the update is available yet

if your in the update you can change some information and I got in !!! =D

Seems the emails are coming very slow. My page has said “Congratulations” for quite a while now, but I only got the email a few seconds ago. As long as it says congratulations on your connect page, you’re in.

If it just says “participating” you’ll have to wait for next wave.

Dang it MajorNelson! I filled out the survey, I checked and made sure that the results were there. Now when I log in and go to the survey it is blank. This stinks.

Anyone’s 360 actually update yet?

Woke up this morning to a nice surprise in my inbox. Now that I’ve just moved house, I’m yet to connect my xbox back to the internet, guess I’ll be doing that later today.

I’ve got in but i have a problem. After i signed in for update preview, my console got RROD and changed with new one. Unlucky me

hopefully my console is back by aug 10 so i could register [since i dont have Console ID with me]

It seems MN has really opened up this preview to WAY more ppl this time than NXE, cos its been open forever and it seems like everyone is getting in.

I got accepted, and I entered for both my XBOX 360 consoles and both got in. Im happy cos my dashboard(s) has been dying a death of slowness. Seriously takes 20 seconds to load up the guide, getting sick of waiting. I can actually get on XBOX.com and check which of my friends are online quicker than loading the guide and selecting ‘friends’. joke

Wow this time more people from USA got in than anyone else. I remember when the NXE preview that barely anyone from USA got in. Well its out time now! =)

Second time I’ve tried this NXE preview and second time denied! I’ve owned a PS3 less than a year(owned 360 since launch) and have been in 6 beta’s. Screw you MS!

For those with the Connect confirmation but no email just wait, i waited at least 45 minutes and just received it, the Preview forum is right at the bottom of all the other forums for those that got in =)

Okay, so Major…here is something to do other than installing an airconditioner…Washington state needs AC? Anyway. Get with the tech people, let them bypass whatever security they have and install a SSD drive…presumably the Intel Extreme version! And let the community know load times are affected…I am looking for real world info. Not only will I feel bummed about the 120GB only hdd but will feel bummed that I am spinning at only 5,400RPMs and seeing load screens.

The PS3 performance boost wasn’t substantial, but based on the improvement we saw with the installation with the NXE, I think the 360 will show better gains! The PS3 would as well if they had full installs, but ps3 is running lazy legs… and now that I have my Oppo BR player the PS3 is about pointless as the Wii.

@ Arsenic13, Raz 360, etc: I wouldn’t hold your breath if you think this update is going to fix the slow Guide. Early previews of the update have been saying that it actually makes the whole Dashboard SLOWER. So yeah I’m not sure about this. I think I’ll wait and let everyone else be my guinea pigs tonight and see what it does to their 360s before I download it to mine too.

One Observation.

You cant rate your 360 games that ARE NOT installed to the HDD. They must first be installed to appear in your games library.

The update cause some choppiness BUT it produces all the content faster and no freezing. Which is an improvement IMO.

Within 30 seconds of posting i get cut from Gears 2 and Live and i’m getting the update as we speak. Nice. Thought it would be later.

Yeah I’ve downloaded it, had a look round. It isn’t bad, though certain aspects felt a little… choppy. Still, it all functions rather well, and the friend list etc. is now only delayed by a brief pause and then BAM! There it is.
Curiously, a few avatar items from the first preview were also unlocked, such as the groovy shirt and flower-print trousers. You can still get stuffed if you think I’m paying for any more of it though.

Where the hell is this “private” forum that is promised to us to discuss about the preview? I got in, but ONE big problem, 1 vs 100 isn’t loading. At all. I can’t even select the damn game to even play it. I just get the 360 “loading” animation over and over. Oh, and it’s been 10 minutes and counting.

As I’m going through the messages in here, there seem to be a few complaints. Please remember: you opted in to the beta dashboard and have probably had it for less than an hour or two. PLEASE give it a few days before you start complaining about it on majornelson.com. Communicate through the connect site or the soon-to-come forums on XBL. The idea is to give feedback to the people working on this update so everyone else doesn’t have to deal with these problems, too.

Afterall, that’s why we’re on the beta — to go through the pain now so there’s less pain for everyone else later.

Dashboard is definitely a lot faster now I also like that there’s more ways to customise our avatars, but the prices for most things do seem a tad too high. Considering there’s little use for avatars at the moment, I’m not really sure why you’d spend that kind of money on them. Splosion Man is apparantly the first game to have unlockables, but they don’t appear to be up yet.

I don’t mean to call you out specifically but like I said, you’ve had it for how long now and are complaining? You can opt out of the beta but please realize that during a beta, there will be unexpected bugs. Since they don’t have the forums up yet (I got a message that they’re working on it) you can either be patient or opt out. Again, Major can’t fix it and complaining only teaches MS to not allow you into the next beta.

I’m really unhappy with the way the achievements are laid out now. If you’re looking for a specific achievement it will take forever to find it. You have to go through every single one until you find the one you want.

It’s now laid out just like it is in the NXE dashboard. If I really wanted to see that view, I would just view my achievements from the NXE instead of the guide.

Once again Microsoft, OPTIONS. An option to view achievements the new way or the old way would have been really nice, but I guess options are too much to ask for. Instead you insist on FORCING things on us that just doesn’t make any sense.

I hate to be that guy who always complains about things, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

@ XxLightkunxX: Are you talking about the Preview forums aaaallllll the way at the bottom of the page at forums.xbox.com? If they’re not showing up for you, then make sure you’re signed in to your account because they will NOT be visible on the Forums page at all if you’re not. And even though they all show lock symbols in front of their headers, you can still access them as long as you’re signed in.

The update is find of disappointing so far…if anything, it might feel slightly quicker in the dash…

If anyone reads this and you got the email today but no update, try changing your avatar, once you select to customize your avatar the console will tell you that there is an update. A few people had this issue and found this to be a quick fix to get the update going., enjoy.

@ NYGFan992: If you go to your Connect account and the Preview homepage says “Congratulations! You’ve been accepted to the 2009 Xbox LIVE Update Preview.” then you’re in and don’t need to wait for the email. The email just says the EXACT same thing as the Preview homepage on Connect says.

If you use Major’s link above to access your Connect account and get a “Page Not Found” error, sign in first (if you haven’t already), then click on the “Microsoft Connect welcome page” link on the error page, go to Your Dashboard at either the top left or right of the Connect homepage, then click on the “Xbox LIVE Update Preview” link and that will take you the Preview homepage where you will see the congratulations message if you were accepted into the program.

Cool stuff. Sux that non-preview folk can’t see all of my avatar new clothes.

I’m in! I like that the right and left bumpers don’t flip through as many options. Also, being able to sort your friends list by different categories, like game being played, is nice. It’s also cool how when you are looking at your friends list you get more detail about what they are played (e.g. Halo 3 Custom Games Capture the Flag) without having to select their gamertag.

i hope they send the notifications out early tomorrow,not like six or seven oclock like they did today…..we already had a one day delay

Ok, I’m not sure if I’m missing something but the only change apparent with Netflix is the Party option. There are no tabs in which I can browse movies or anything as discussed. Wasn’t this the biggest addition that was to be made? The playback seemed to be the same as before as well, no real difference. I did only watch one movie though, so may need to watch more before determining whether or not playback quality has been improved.

try reloading netflix or try inviting someone to a party (you don’t actually have to complete the party invite) that reloaded everything missing for me, the netflix change is definitely the best upgrade so far to me

Im loving all the tings even the new avatar stuff but the Avy clothes and such are so over priced. Like wtf? 320 points for a useless toy warthog. Lower the prices by half and then itll be kind of ok.

Netflix party is pretty cool, my wife loved it, felt like being in a movie theater lol. @ oCORYo: Yes, if it’s not showing the congratulations message on the Preview page for your Connect account, then you just aren’t in this first wave. But like Cristiano said, as long it shows you as “participating”, then you’ll probably get in one of the next waves.

Oh great I think I screwed up my chances just now, I noticed my console ID was wrong (it seems it’s not the “product ID” in the back of the console since the “product” is not a console apparently since there’s another ID for that in the dashboard, guess I should have checked the FAQ), and it seems the serial number also missed 1 number (aren’t forms supposed to check for the correct amount of letter and numbers and display an error if it’s too short!) Then I tried to find a way to change them but couldn’t find any (should be an edit button in the survey thing IMO) so I checked that the registrations are still on so I logically thought oh well I’ll quit this participation and do it again but I CAN’T! wow that’s some really shitty page microsoft has there, no easy way of changing typing errors or the likes.

I’m in…received an e-mail, but the e-mail is in German and I’m from the Netherlands. When I turn on my XBOX it installed the update, but when I try to logon to Connect I see ‘participating’ as the status, but I don’t see any info on the dashboard….

Got it! The email was in german indeed, but got the new NXE update. Some nice tweaks, like the avatar marketplace, achievement awards. Seems faster too!

Question: the number in the gamercard status bar (gold/silver) should display the amount of years you are a member or show the current year your in? I’m a XBL member since 21th of july 2007 and i have it on automatic renewal ever since, the number it displays is “2″,.. but i’ve bought my third year XBL

What about when the official update comes out for everyone? Do we get another update or is this it?
Because on the connect website it states : If you are approved for the Preview, and your console is updated, you will not be able to remove the Preview from your console.

So whats up with that? is that a bad thing?

I know this is the reason I didn’t get in because my console ID is invalid, which will also screw any further chances

to be honest – I’ve looked at some of the footage for the new upgrades – I have a hard time understanding why a ‘preview program’ is even needed.

Overhyped – especially the ‘themed’ Avatar clothing (Halo T-Shirts ooooooooh) LMAO!

First things first: Wow, BIG kudos to MS for making Marketplace as fast as possible again on the Xbox 360! I notice a big upgrade in speed in the Friends list as well. Let’s hope it stays that way when the update goes global on August 11th.

There are a few things I would like to note. Please continue to make the listings in Marketplace more uniform for games and franchises. Calling certain things “Call Of Duty” and another “CoD” for example doesn’t help in ease of use department. I’ve heard e say it on your show a couple of times already Major.
Even small things annoy many users like the useless double listings for certain titles (eg. Army of Two and Tales Of Vesperia) or typographic errors like MadBalls Babo:Invasion (really should the semicolon be there in that exact spot?).

Don’t bind the Video and Music Marketplace together. If you want to have a music store later on you’ll thank me for this. “Music Videos” should be in a separate Music Marketplace.

The rating system is perfect for users to identify what titles “Rock” and what titles “Suck”. I really hope though that you are not considering using this for delistment purposes in the future because even the worst titles can provide enjoyment for someone.
Please bring back Double Dragon! I know Empire is gone, get another publisher or please take it over yourselves MS.

And one other thing: PLEASE make it so that my locale setting doesn’t change the language setting in games. WHY on earth is the language there for in the first place, NXE Dashboard ONLY?
I say this because I noticed my locale on this site says United Kingdom while I live in the Netherlands. But only setting the language to English on my console doesn’t make a couple of my games use the english language.

Are we going to get an exclusive Prop to show off people that we were in the Preview Program, like the people at E3 got an exclusive E3 2K9 Trophy Prop?

While there aren’t a whole lot of noticeable changes with this update, one that really made it worth it for me was the improved loading speed! I was worried after I signed up for the Preview Program and started reading these early press reviews saying how much slower it was. I don’t know if the press got a different build than we did or what, but after having installed it tonight and playing around with it for a while, yes there is a slight stutter between Dashboard blades sometimes. But the vastly improved loading more than makes up for it! After having installed the latest huge Burnout Paradise update, I noticed my Guide or Dashboard friends lists would sometimes take more than 15 seconds to load. Now it doesn’t take more than 2-3 seconds at the most! Hopefully this will carry over and continue to load quickly when the update goes public on August 11.

I don’t have time to check all comments, but I thought I’d mention that while I’m Dutch the email I received is in *drum roll* German: “Willkommen bei der Xbox LIVE-Preview auf Connect!” No idea why it’s not in Dutch or English, but I guess there’s nothing important in the email anyway, besides the WARNUNG (in big bold red letters) about not removing the HDD.

I got into the program.
Only thing is that the email came in German. But i’m Dutch, not German.
English wouldn’t be a problem though but why German?

Excellent. I’m in, bought a Lionhead T-Shirt and had a quick look round before coming to work. It certainly seems much faster when accessing the downloads page but these is a slight stutter in the animations if you try to navigate too quick!

Got the dashboard last night — thanks Microsoft.

I enjoy the Netflix party system and the opportunity to select movies from the Xbox. It’s a shame Starz/Disney do not allow parties. Pretty lame on their part, they don’t seem to be giving the consumer what they want. The rating system for games is cool as well. I went down my entire list of games and reviewed them. The speed of the dashboard seems much improved too.

That being said — what have you guys been doing for the past year? There’s really not much to this update at all. There’s still no web browser. There’s no way to subscribe to RSS feeds. The Facebook/Twitter implementation is nowhere to be found. But yet, there’s a store for buying “Avatar clothes and accessories.” I took one look at it and realized it’s a waste of time and money. $4 for a remote control car… for my avatar? Are you smoking crack? Clothes for the recession? Why waste time on this when you could add more original Xbox games to the BC list, or add RSS feeds, a web browser, or add more streaming media options?

Still no “congrats” message for me n a bunch of my friends on the connect site… I take it we weren’t accepted then. Clicking on the preview header on there just takes us to the sign-up page again.

I want to know why the party stuff is USA only and if its going to stay that why

- communication about this preview was clear enough I think. You can read it everywhere: no Twitter, Facebook etc. It will come in the next fall update )
- you don’t have to buy virtual stuff but there are many people who will and want to pay such ridiculous prices (for some digital bits and bytes LOL). They say the same thing about Sony’s home beta where even clothes can be more expensive LOL. If someone wants to pay for it, there is a market )

Got in.Got the update.Nothing amazing to report I must say. Other than some much needed speed and ease of use the new features arent anything special. The fact that MS can charge $4 for Avatar clothing makes me want to puke. Greed overdose. A huge company like MS you would think they would let us have all avatar stuff free. HOPEFULLY the stuff that is for sale can all be unlocked for free in games that they are designed after. Hopefully……….

I got my console ID wrong and therefore haven’t been accepted. In some ways I’m quite happy because I’m not really willing to rescind my rights in the event that the console got bricked – which does happen. I’ve had 3 RROD’s and 1 drive fail. Can’t go through a 5th !

forgot there’s nothing that new in this release… I guess it’s better? When do we see avatar unlockables, I’m not paying.

I just can’t see why it took one year to release this update… what did they really work on? Past updates have added many features. This didn’t really add anything at all. There are still only 100 friends on a list. There are no updates to the kinds of files you can stream (I got Apple TV anyway). You can’t add RSS feeds. There’s no web browser. They say if you “need help” to go on your computer and go to the message boards. Gee, don’t you think it would be nice to be able to check them from your Xbox 360? The Netflix doesn’t seem well thought out either… You can’t search movies by name, view all of the streaming options, or even sort properly. Some of the included sorting options even disappeared. That’s weak. Was the Avatar marketplace really that important? I’m scratching my head at most of this stuff, but thankfully the speed seems right. But who knows if that will last when everyone else gets this “update”.

Just woke up and got the prompt. Not bad so far, downloaded the Halo 3 T-Shirt and rated a few games. Speed ain’t really improved though.

this update is great…the dashboard is much much faster…the downloads appearing faster…it is better for sure…and i couldnt find any problems or bugs yet

when i’m in a party chat i can only set the audio-output to speakers or both.. when i select headset only i still hear everybody through the speakers.. anybody else got this problem?..

i love the avatar marketplace..nice stuff there but damn expensive…for a guybrush threepwood outfit 240 MS-Points? thats a bit to much. but i bought a halo 3 shirt for 80 points…but thats more than enough to me…wouldnt pay more for this stuff…but the quality of the clothes is much better…better resolution……the voting system is awesome and its nice to share with the community what game is good or not

Hello, I need help!
Me and my friend have been chosen for the new update, so we have downloaded it on our Hard Disk.
Now I need to know: if I put my profile on a Memory Unit and use it on my friend’s console, that console will not be able to connect to Xbox Live until August, 11th, or there will be no problems (since he downloaded the new update too)?
In the mail sent us there are references only about putting the “updated” HDD on a console without the new update. Could someone please answer me?

i wouldnt try it…just to be safe…

if the xbox of youre friend is in the preview there’s no problem but if your friend is not on the preview and you put your memory on he’s console he wont be able to connect to live till august 11th so becareful.

I played on the new dash last night for a good hour. I know it’s new but the Avatar marketplace was very disappointing. The items seemed costly.

I would have thought there would’of been at least one game for the Xbox 360 games for download.
I did like the ranking system on games.
I’ll try it some more tonight!

I think i got accepted, only my email whas in German and i am Dutch. I understand Enlisch but not German so i don’t really know what it pricely says. But i will know when i put my Xbox on

@Zekeban: Nope, probably more of an issue of “first come, first served”. My (other (Silver)) account was in the first batch and I’m quite sure I didn’t want to be contacted. Apart from some serious lag previewing avatar marketplace items, at least it was a nice surprise to see them previewable in the first place. Won’t spend a single point for such eye candy but the default selection of some 45 items was still pretty neat. Other than that, the update won’t make much difference here in Europe. Best of luck being in the next wave, though!

Why are folks so ‘hung-up’ on the e-mail. I got the update & did not even check to see if I got the e-mail until after i messed-around with the new dashboard.

The changes to Netflix are fantastic. I can update my instant quee without going to my PC. Thanks Major.

Maj, thank for thwe opportunity again. Congratulations to the ENTIRE NXE TEAM!! Someone has been and is working truly hard on improving the service! NetFlix’s overhaul tweaks make is now worth it!! The new ‘channels’ , bigger screen, new netcode for streaming and party features are AWESOME and SPLENDID! Avatar Team pulled a GREAT surprise – added a shirt you can change the color to what you want. The Rating system for everything is just awesome, just awesome! The accessories – really!? Heh heh heh. Fun. Everyone should be pleasently please. Dashboard moves A LOT faster . . . More to explore!

The update definitely seems faster in the dashboard. My XBLA list does seem to populate much faster and the dash feels pretty snappy overall. If there is anything bad (besides the prices in the Avatar Marketplace ), the animations in the dashboard get a little jerky sometimes.

Major, this Preview Program really messed me up… I was signed on another xbox before the update was out… and just got my xbox I registered in the program today and put my hard drive on it and all of our Xbox Live profiles were “Corrupted”.. But they work fine on the xbox at my father’s (I bring my hard drive back and forth between homes)…. So I cannot play online on my real xbox and do not have the Preview Program on the other… what happened?

Posted this on the forums, but thought I would put it up here as well, in case anyone who can check on it will see it…

Since the update all of my HD mp4 files streamed over the network have begun to stutter. They worked fine before. Standard definition wmv and divx avi files play fine. Anyone else experience this?

After the update, I had to redownload the ‘optional media update’ again, which was strange, but it may be DRM related or tied to the new features, I don’t know. I had played the same videos minutes before applying the dashboard update without issue. streaming through WMP or PS3 Media server has the same result, and the video stutters at the same point everytime, but a different point when i start from somewhere different, leading me to believe it some sort of buffering issue?

same videos stream fine to the PS3, and to a 360 that doesn’t have the update. all of my x264 encoded HD mp4 files do this. avi files are not affected (but all of mine are SD). Here’s the kicker, HD WMV files DO NOT exhibit this behaviour, they play fine. If I have to re-encode all of these vidoes again I am going to cry.

@ CDN Crocket: Also if you ever let your Gold lapse to Silver for more than 14 days, that would have reset your Gold Veteran number at that point.

Blue Thunder28: Did you read the email, or any of the information on the connect site? It explicitly warns you, that if you use your HDD in another 360, that 360 will not be able to go online until the 11th when the update is released publicly.

@ oCORYo: Changing your gamertag doesn’t reset your Gold Veteran number, as long as it’s still tied to the same Windows Live ID. It depends on how long you’ve let your Gold membership lapse.

Got an email stating I was in, and that I would receive an email when the update is available. Seems strange but given that others have already gotten updated, I’m going to check as soon as I get home!

The first thing I’m checking out is Netflix, and browsing for movies that are not already in my queue!

@WinterSnowblind. Yes I know, trust me I am not one to screw things like this up, hehe. When i read that disclaimer in the email I took my memory card that had my gamertag on it out of the non-registered console so it would not update, and I would only sign in when I had access to the console that was registered. I just tried signing in today for the first time excited to see that pop up saying there’s an update available.. So there’s no reason why this happened unless my xbox at home tried to download the update while powered off with no hard drive connected to it. Because on the xbox I can sign in on, me or my brother do not have any bit of the update, something went wrong somewhere with giving me the update or something… Nothing ever works for me in the land of science and computers I should have known better to try and join this… no matter how careful I am.

My Netflix hasn’t updated at all besides the Party Invite tab. This isn’t a feature that I think I’ll necessarily ever use though. Where is the ability to browse and add movies? This is about the only thing I was looking forward to in this update.

The updates within the Netflix application is fantastic! It is much speedier and seems a lot easier to navigate. Someone around there is using their brain, thanks!

Ok I received an email saying I’m accepted, mistaking it for an email saying i should have the update… I have not received the update yet, or an email saying i should have the update.. but my online profiles are all corrupted from this non-existent update… which I find not very surprising considering how demonic and strange my laptop was being last night from non-existent issues I guess I’m just cursed.

i got the update last night, installed in 3 min or so, and i love it! the way you look at acheivments is great, i love that it shows all your 100% games, even though i have to see avatar on there lol, but avatar marketplace is cool, i got a halo tee and giant cotton swab lol. so all in all, i am loving the update, thanks major for letting us all in early

Will there be a wave 3?

Everything is good so far but i feel like not much has been added. I know the Avatar marketplace is cool but it seems real slow to adding any props you have equipped when you are on your friend list. I really dont see how its any easier to navigate through the dashboard. Everything is pretty much still in the same place. Oh well im not complaining but I dont see any major differences

I finally got the update working for me (a day late) I love it, as long as I ignore the new choppiness in the guide movements and loading! But it’s nothing, my favourite thing of all is definitely the new achievement list viewing! You guys did it exactly like how i had hoped! i can finally use the guide again just to view a list instead of xbox360achievements.org! lovin this so much you guys pull off the greatest things year by year.. facebook, twitter and last.fm will be the icing on the cake for me when it’s out thats FANTASTIC.

Well i was a muppet and entered my Console ID incorrectly and can’t change it, so I guess I’m out for the previews. Would love to see the new stuff though.

@ Col J Matrix UK: Yes the info/content loading in the Guide, Dashboard, Marketplace, pretty much everywhere has dramatically improved – definitely my favorite thing about the update, since it was pretty slow for me. Hopefully it will stay that way after the update goes public!

I bought some clothing items for my avatar last night then today i tried to use them on another account on the same xbox and they weren’t there, why must i pay for something i bought again it’s on the harddrive so basically i’m being locked out of content i paid for. I didn’t have to pay twice for gamerpics,themes,dlc…etc, so why now do we have to pay for this stuff on separate
accounts now on the same xbox? What are parents going to do if they want to buy some of these items for they kids with child accounts? I really don’t see the logic behind this at all.

I never got the accept email but i did get the update on live. Avatar Marketplace is a RIPOFF! 320 MS Point so my Avatar can have an RC Warthog, really? I would pay for shirts and things if they were 10 – 20 points but 80 points a shirt? Cmon. Also Netflix kinda works, you can’t scroll through and add movies right now but you can make a party and recommend movies to your friends list. Um… Games on Demand only has Xbox 1 games right now. I LOVE that little Number 4 by my gamertag that shows your years thats cool. Also things seem to be loading faster. I wish i had a Clan blade… Major can you shoot that down the pipeline. Why is this Gen so Anti Clan. Just Do it like Halo 2′s old system it was perfect.

Has anyone figured out why some peoples netflix only has options for instant queue and party and no ability to search and add titles to the queue from the 360?

Yesterday the emails started going out at 5:30 eastern (2:30 pacific). So you shouldn’t be surprised that there is nothing yet.

Maybe the backend functionality is not fully rolled out yet across all the servers, and the console simply hides this functionality if not available on the servers? Just a thought.

The first wave of emails came at 5:30 EST yesterday, so they are already behind. The update to the actual 360 came around 8 EST yesterday, if I remember correctly.

i just turned on my 360 and it starting dloading the update. my connect page and my hotmail say nothing. i signed up for this the first day we could and i missed the first wave. ive been sitting here like the rest of us waiting to see but i just turned on my 360 and the magic happened! Hey everyone you just start any game and it will say an update is available. After it says its done it will restart. Then when it would originally go to the dashboard it will have you start the system update. I am still updating my system which has been doing this for a while now. Slow connection. At first it said it was going to take 110 minutes to complete. But now it is about 31 minutes.

The avatar editor worked for me, I am now in the beta =D. I can confirm that I have not received an e-mail, and my Connect page does not have the “OMG! CONGRATS ON NOT BEING LEFT OUT!” message on it. But, I am in the beta, and it looks great. I especially like the new achievement layout. Oh, and I bought a sexy little ring for 50 cents =P

Yay… I’m in. Still haven’t checked to see if I got an email or if the site updated. I was just playin Halo and got kicked off live at about nine… but I wasn’t even mad because I knew what I was about to get.

The dash runs noticeably faster, and the achievement browser looks great, though I wish you could tap into that all games tab to see more than the max of 9 completed games it can display. This is a great update, if for nothing else for the better dash performance, and the new features are quite good.

Thanks to MS and Major for the chance to see this a bit early… it makes me feel quite special, even though it really shouldn’t.

Got it. All i did was boot on Xbox and Bam!. I really wanted out of all of this though the games on demand. Full 360 games digital download for the win..

I just turned on my xbox and had the update despite no email or change to the connect website. just figured i would put myself into that group.

I’m in. All I did was go to the avatar screen and it automatically downloaded the update. I’m very happy now. Thanks major nelson for bringing me the sign up info to begin with. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise.

In my opinion, If not for Major Nelson, where else would we all get our xbox 360 news from???. He’s the only one who gives us any info at all and knows how we all feel about upcoming updates.

Same thing happened to me. No email, no change of status on MS Connect but when I turned on my 360 I was prompted for an update. What an awesome surprise and glad the MS gods were smiling on me today. Love the update and the avatar additions are great, they are actually starting to come to life and I can’t wait to see the awards and future stuff like the Gears armor, etc. I also like the fact there is a tab that goes into detail what the update includes and so far everything has worked great. Seems even a bit faster although I’ve never had issues with the speed of the NXE.

I got the update while playing a 1 v 3 Capture the Flag game on Avalanche. I was about to score and beat 3 people but then I got disconnected. Anyways, the preview is awesome and Crazy Mouse is the first game I saw that has a 1 star rating.

Been enjoying my Preview for the past day! The new Netflix setup is freakin’ sweeeet! They really did a good job adding the searches to it and the party system. Also, the achievement tracker is MUCH better now.

Damn… console has been freezing up alot today, then all of a sudden I got the E71 error. I was still able to access the Menu later on though. Turned it on again and got the prompt to update the console. About 60% done with the download and the console freezes. No choice but to turn it off even though the message says not to. Then… 3 Red Rings of Death… ahaha. First time it happened was right before the Halo 3 Beta, now this… errrrr. I have the worst luck when it comes to these things.

Hopefully there’s a wave tomorrow… and people that filled out the survey the first few days should have gotten it first. >_>
