Deal By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • EssCee UK

Still showing as 800 each on UK marketplace :(

  • Olimite

Queue loads of people saying ‘they always should have been’.

(which, in this case, is completely the correct answer).

  • Anonymous

    teh price is rite !

  • Anonymous
  • Twilight Miasma

They also should be a compilation pack instead of individual games.

  • rogXue

Sweet, I picked up Sorry Sliders and Scrabble now that they are worth the price.

    Good deal IMO

  • twisted poke

Will probably pick up most if not all of these. Already have Scrabble which is a lot of fun and five bucks seems like a reasonable price for the rest.

Also, for those that don’t know, a compilation disk with all of these title is set to release November 3rd for forty dollars.

  • EssCee UK

Ok I can seem them now. But a couple of questions:

    1. Why is Sorry still 800?
    2. Why isn’t Scrabble in the UK yet?

  • Anonymous

Looks like I’ll be buying the rest of the games my wife didnt have me buy already.

  • rogXue

why is Sorry 800 and Sliders is 400? Aren’t they the same game?

  • Anonymous

    no

  • rogXue

well crap I bought the wrong game then…. Major, can anything be done for my screw up (I claim full responsibility) or am I stuck with sliders?

  • texasbantam

Scrabble will not be released in the UK – something to do with licensing rights between Hasbro (who own the rights in the US), and Mattel (I think?), who own the rights in the UK.

  • dbert721

This is coming in a retail box soon, according to this:
    http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=75991

  • metallicorphan

whats the XBLA games this week Major?…Wallace and Gromit 2 please!!!

  • Twilight Miasma

    @ Twisted Poke $40? Eff that! $20 or no-buy!

  • Exu

In the UK it shows as 800 in the listing but then if you select it the confirmation price is 400.

  • Quicksilver4648

This is the price what these game should have been. Who would pay $10 for Battleship?

  • Anonymous

You must not have any kids

  • rastansaga

The only one of these games remotely worth buying is Scrabble, which of course is the only one not available in the UK

  • ElektroDragon

This is ridiculous, I could have saved a whopping $30 if I had waited!! :(

  • ElektroDragon

Correction: $15. I need to wake up. :)

  • Ark Hunter

Exactly, never buy this over priced stuff when it comes out.

  • yamayamayaamaa

Downloading them all this week will be cheaper than buying the disc, $30 vs $40. I’m still unsure if I want to buy them all though lol.

  • ItsNymo

so, Why is plain-Sorry! not a part of it? I was hoping to finish off all of the games in there, but I guess I have to just pay full price for Sorry!…
I suppose there’s some Sorry! joke in there on why it’s not on sale…

  • oO MG81 Oo

400 is a more reasonable price.

  • MACPH1ST0

Major forgot to list both Sorry games, so there’s actually a total of 7 games, which means you’d only save $5 over the disc version. If you’re really interested in getting all the games, it’d be worth it to spend the extra $5 for the disc version just so you could at least sell it later and get some of your money back.

  • LawdaddyCO

It’s still showing 800 points each for me.

  • JohnnyDethmatch

Of course, I JUST BOUGHT SCRABBLE THE OTHER DAY! GRAHHH!!!#$#@&#!!! None of these games are even WORTH the 800 pts.

  • Anonymous

Major, whats up with sorry still being full price? You have a wife and you know how they get when they dont get their way. She wants sorry NOW!

  • II W4RLORD II

I will be getting Scrabble and Yahtzee, thanks!

  • Anonymous

Thanks for the Update on Sorry Major

  • El Cid

Scrabble for 400 sounded good to me – particularly with the 300 points I got from the Visa promotion recently!

  • AutomaticOcelot

I wanted to mention how much I appreciate seeing the whole month’s DotW schedule on Gamerscore Blog.
    http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2009/10/08/jui876.aspx
I will certainly be nabbing the RE5 versus mode at a less gouging price. :)

  • AnEternalEnigma

This is what the prices should have been in the first place. Gladly buying Sorry now.

  • Shiaoran

Still about 200% of their worth.

  • technofranki

It should have been 800 points for everything.

  • Lethbridge

So how does this work if I just sent my console in because of RROD? I might be interested in these at 400 points each, but I want to try the demo first, and I don’t have a console to do that with. By the time I get my console back, ( I just sent it in, so I am hoping to have it back before Christmas), the deals will be gone, is there no way I can take advantage of these deals? (and like I said, I would like to try before I buy)

  • Rick Dias PK

I am once again insulted by the offer. Macphisto’s post shows quite clearly that we can get a full disc version for just five dollars more than these downloaded copies if we go for the full set of games. A one week discount that saves us net $5-10 on an inferior version of the product is ridiculous.
Continuing my policy of supporting Microsoft’s competitors whenever I think we’re being treated like we’re brain-dead, I will be purchasing more Wii Points/Nintendo Points in a couple days when I visit Gamestop. There’s not even any particular game I want with the points, I’m just doing this to voice my disapproval of these kind of offers that imply I’m a fool.

  • rogXue

Lethbridge, I am currently in the same boat. My console is just leaving Microsoft Heaven after being resurrected for the 6th time. I’m buying through the online marketplace. I think I’ll bite the bullet and get the orig Sorry as well. $15 for 3 fun party games is fine in my book

  • rogXue

Major, Sorry says 400 but when you go to confirm the download it tries to charge 800. Is there an update on this?

  • Anonymous

Rick Dias PK – MS doesn’t need to imply that you are a fool, your post proves it on its own merit. You buying points for other systems does zero harm to MS. And the fact that you have achievements on at least 38 XLBA titles makes your statement even funnier. You want to make a statement, sell your 360 and never buy a MS product again. Otherwise, you are just blowing smoke.

  • Mcmax3000

@Rick Dias PK How is this an inferior version of the product? I’d rather have it on my HDD for $35 then on a disc for $40.

The only way I see that this is inferior is if you’re lacking the HDD space.

  • Hoffer

I might buy the whole kit and kaboodle. I kinda wanted them all before, but not at the crazy price they were asking.

  • Gambit3rd

    A little poll:
    who will buy what?

In Italy we have no Boggle neither Scrabble (shame…) and I already have Connect 4.
Maybe I’ll buy Yahtzee and Battleship. I don’t like Sorry, not a bit. Yahtzee is nice, some doubt about battleship. Will I really play these games?

  • Rick Dias PK

Mcmax3000: That’s a fair question. Hard drive space can be a major factor, though it’s not quite one in my case. In my case, I’d rather pay $5 more (If I was going to buy this to begin with) to have the ability to easily take it to a friend’s house and also to be able to sell it as Used later to get back some of my cost. For these reasons, the $5 net savings do not appeal to me, and I do feel it is an inferior version.
Skull One USA: My buying points doesn’t directly hurt MS, but I can’t directly hurt them without, well… doing something criminal. We’re always told to “vote with our wallet”, and I’m doing so here. Also, that’s cute that you looked up my game list, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Several of those titles were received through promotions and codes. Additionally, most of the ones I did purchase were obtained prior to my ‘policy.’ My 360 purchases of late have plummeted, and I’m spending far more of my time and money with Nintendo’s offerings at the moment. Short of doing something blatantly wrong like storming into their offices and wrecking things (which would hurt them, but would be immoral and get me arrested), I’m not sure how I’m supposed to do much else meaningful with this beyond “voting with my wallet.”

  • Exu

Picked up Sorry Sliders and Boggle at the discount since they were the only two I needed (no, I didn’t pay for the other four, I’m not completely stupid).
In the grand scheme of things this isn’t a bad deal now. I’ve still seen the set cheaper on PS2 and Wii but the difference is a lot smaller now, added to the fact these incarnations have online play.
Regardless, they should have been 400 each first time around.

  • Mike0707

Yes finally! Connect 4 here we come.

  • CDN Crockett

You know in the ‘free’ wardrobe there was the American Football jersey and then they added Baseball and World Football jersey.

Well my question is when are they going to add the 2 Canadian sports!!!

    HOCKEY and

    BASKETBALL (yes basketball is Canadian)

I want a free Xbox hockey jersey!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sly Jon

    EA SUCK!!!

  • mchiefvs360

Sounds OK, but I’d rather play the board game equivalents of some of these games.

  • onnovdw

Bought Sorry as well. Good they’re all cheap!

  • K04 Passat

I bought these at full price, and never really regretted it. Worth a look, guys.

  • ToothlessFrog

Got this collection for my Wii for a LOT cheaper than even this. But, had these originally come out at this price, I would have rather had them on my 360. Oh well. At least I might pick up Scrabble, since that was the only one not on the Wii version.

  • ToothlessFrog

Oh, and the disc version of this is coming out on November 3rd (according to Gamestop) and will have all games on it from what the cover is showing. My prediction is that the downloaded versions will most likely stay at this price (calling them greatest hits or something) since the disc version is coming out (it would only make sense).

Now do the math. $10 each originally, yet a disc version with all the production costs and all is coming out for $40 and includes all of the games. Now try to defend the downloaded logic. I still say that prices need to come down a bit for a lot of the stuff that’s out and coming out because there is no manufacturing costs, it’s all development costs and the hope that it sells well. With all the DRM hassles I’ve encountered over the lifespan of the 360, as well as items being taken off the market (making them impossible to redownload — season 1 of Star Trek Enterprise, and Lost Cities card game), I’m baffled as to why we had the spike in costs, and now the dust has settled and the $5 games are gone.

Not trying to bash, especially because, as you can see from my profile, I have a TON of games. But over the last year, I’ve really been more picky about the games I purchase. At $5 each, I had no problems purchasing a title even if it was a little “iffy”, but since they spiked to 10, 15, and 20 each, I’ve put on the brakes big time.

  • wiirule111

Nice deal, but i dont want any of the games.

  • Thief000

Why is Scrabble North America and English only???

  • Mcmax3000

@Thief000 As far as I know, it’s because Mattel has the Scrabble license outside the US & not Hasbro.

  • Lucky 13 X

Appreciate the price cut. Wish EA could keep it permanent tho. Bought myself Battleship(don’t need the rest), and will hope there is a retail disk soon where I can get the rest later at a good price.

  • Lucky 13 X

Well, it looks like a retail disk incoming is essentially confirmed on Gamestop’s page and at a great price.
