Preview Program Wave One

Wave 1 of the Xbox LIVE Update Preview Program is in the process of being pushed out to those selected. If you were not selected, don’t worry…we’ll be adding more people over the next few days. If you have been selected, you’ll will get the update sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE. You can confirm your acceptance in the first wave by signing in to the Connect Site, where you’ll also find more details on the program and links to the private preview forums on Xbox.com. In addition, we’ve also be sending you an an email to your Windows LIVE ID that you registered with Connect.

    Can you check to see why I needed to resent my console id on the xbox live preview? I must of had the correct one from the start because I did get in and I got the update. Also I do not have access to the preview forums yet.

    I also would like to know what’s up. Been on live preview before…. only 1 Xbox360 and am sure things were correct with info. Yet although email Fri says I got in, no updates, and there’s no way to verify on msoft connect what “console ID” it thinks is in the system. With the “warning” on resubmission that a “previous” ID would lose Live access (even though it’s a correct console) I can see potential for just plain killing my console’s Live access so don’t feel “good” about resubmission.
    …And whats with the quote “invalid Console ID will prevent you from being accepted”..I got the ‘accepted’ email…:/

    Lets just hope today being a business day,they take care of this Major Nelson,can you pass this information to the right people

    Thought I would share my experience to see if not receiving the update is based on sign up date. I signed up on the 18th and my brother signed up on the last day sign ups were open. We both got the acceptance email on the 23rd at around 3am but only I got the update (the following day). Both of us do not have access to the preview forums.

    Regarding the message of an incorrect console ID, check what ID you entered by going to the Connect Xbox Live Preview site, click on ‘Surveys’ on the left, and click on the link under ‘Completed Surveys’.

    Compare your console ID to the one you entered in the survey and ONLY if it is incorrect, change it. If it is correct, leave it. It is most probably an error in the system checking the console ID’s.

    Hmm. thanks for the post about the completed surveys section (didn’t realize that).
    The only thing I see is that while all the info is correct…. it shortened the consiole ID somewhat. First digit is a “0″ in the regular number and it doesn’t display that. Wonder if the survey drops that first “0″ and causes the issue as the system may be looking for the ’0′…just speculating.

    So on the completed survey, your console ID isn’t 12 digits? On mine it is 12 digits and the leading 0 hasn’t been removed. If it is incorrect on the survey, resubmit your console ID.

    When I resubmitted I took another look at my console ID and it is 12 digits

    Both the Console ID and Serial number should be 12 digits, but remember that you should only resubmit IF the ID is incorrect. I don’t know what is going on with not receiving the update and having a correct ID listed but as it says on the Connect site, if you don’t receive it by Tuesday you should contact them so I am guessing the updates are still being pushed out. So if your ID is correct, I wouldn’t recommend resubmitting (even if you haven’t received the update) as you could just be in a queue waiting for it to be pushed to your console.

    I’m having the same issue where they say I entered the “invalid” console ID. So I sent them the new same one and I’m hoping they will update me soon! I wonder whats going on???

    Well I changed my concole ID since my last console froze up…..I had the email already….when I resubmitted I got no email and I still don’t have the update

    Now i carnt sign into xbox live! I think its because i re-submitted my console ID! but it was the exact same so i carnt see how i could have got band, this is so frustrating now i carnt even play online and use the service i pay £40 per year for!

    I’ just curious on why I still have no update after re-submitting my console ID on Saturday….is Microsoft this lazy??? Everytime I turn my console on I go to the XBL menu, no option to update, nothing…..MS needs to fix this problem……

    the biggest problem here is that people are ignored, nobody is telling us wtf is going on !! Major Nelson : instead of using your time on twitter, could you please find out whats going on here ??

    Support is no help whatsoever…..they need AMERICAN Reps, not overseas, when I have called I can’t understand half of the people I talk to……They are left out of the loop and are confused about this whole situation……I’m telling you right now, MS will probably get alot of complaints over this…..I might even call the Microsoft HQ just to get an answer

    i feel like i have been waiting for ages. you would think somebody would be working 24/7.
    most employees will just tell you to email e@xbox.com

    (just a side note; i wish you could add content to the zunehd through the xbox360, no computer required)

    oh and we want something that can connect to all microsoft services, not just one specific tier.

    why must they make it so confusing, seems pretty obvious to me. apply the win7 concept to everything already, less clicks and just easy easy easy.

    Ok, so I don’t know if anyone else had an issue, but this update seriously screwed up my 360 and my hard drive, and my xbox live account.

    Basically my 360 encountered a problem while installing\applying the update and fried my hard drive.

    After arguing with the tech support guy on the phone about how it should be the responsibility of the manufacturer to replace any items that were damage by said manufacturer by way of a faulty update. Anyway, they wouldn’t replace it so I managed to get a hold of a new one, perks of working at Gamestop.

    Downside again, every time i try to recover my profile it gets to 5-10% then my system restarts and says that my profile wasn’t completely recovered and I should try again.

    There is a flaw in this update, whether or not it was a crazy fluke that I received corrupted install data or something more is yet to be determined, but I’m refusing to give up until the problem is resolved.

    Well after filling out the survey to resubmit MS said the message on connect would disappear…..well it’s gone and I still have no option for the update….my console is verified.
    MS has no customer service skills whatsoever, everytime you tell them whats wrong and what your situation is they run you through hoops saying “Our XBL Resident Specialist is taking care of it, your problem is being escalated to the high points of MS Mgt”, yea the person is special alright, they don’t know what’s going on, I’ve heard that so many times I could puke…..I’m about to do away with XBox itself and get the PS3, at least they have good customer service skills…..
    I’m sick of having to wait on everything when you have a problem with MS……They make promise after promise and nothing happens…..

    Well now I have the same problem as you @bones37101 my console seems to be verified yet still no update, Major Nelson could you please tell us without the update what’s going on? Will get in touch with MS if I get no update by the end of tomorrow.

    Just got off phone with xbox myself and they’re telling me basically ‘Nothing we can do, you will just have to wait until mid Nov. when the release is officially released, even though you are supposed to have it now.’

    Still no update after fixing the Console ID even though it was correct. I got the email friday. Atleast give us some sort of an answer like “Were Fixing the Issue”. SOMETHING!.

    Ok it says let us know…..Give me a number to let you know so I won’t have to deal with India Reps who have no idea what they are doing let alone understand….let me talk to someone who SPEAKS ENGLISH and is associated with Microsoft itself…..

    Major could you please give us an update on the status for the Console ID error. I resubmitted mine and it worked but still don’t have the update. I received the preview email. Even if you can’t give us an update I understand. I have been a member of Xbox Live for 7 years, yes I was a beta tester back in 2002. I have seen xbox live grow into a true contender, all I have to say is keep up the hard work because it is paying off.

    Trust me, Xbox Support has no idea what we’re talking about. We’ll hopefully get the update later tonight, tomorrow, or sometime soon.

    I don’t get the Error about the Console ID on micrsoft connect anymore, But i still didn’t get the Update. Maybe tomorrow.

    Nothing has been done on my end….guess MS is too lazy and likes to screw their users out of stuff they signed up for

    I have tried clearing the cache, updating a game….logging on and off…..tested all connections and I got nothing……MS is just lazy I guess

    I have been doing the Test Xbox Live Connection for a while now, still no update. Looks like I will be those who don’t get it even thought I got the email saying I’m accepted…oh well.

    @EveofLight Same here. Though I haven’t tried the “Test Connection” as I don’t see what it will do other then re-sign in just like any game with an update. So… whatever. Looks like we just have to wait till the actual full version update comes. No beta testing for us it would seem…

    So… how you like the boat? Not much room in here for all of us huh? Kinda cramped… ;p

    MS says alot of crap that it doesn’t back up, “If you don’t have the update by Tuesday let us know”, ok I’VE LET SUPPORT KNOW CONSTANTLY EVERYDAY SINCE SATURDAY and all they can say is this matter is being investigated, give me a break, my console is already VERIFIED since I resubmitted it on SATURDAY and here it is TUESDAY and I sit on the computer on this site AND STILL HAVE NO UPDATE, yea I signed up for the preview just to post on the preview forums and to get dumb email……GIVE ME A BREAK AND GIVE ME MY UPDATE….
    Hey Major, why don’t you get off your Xbox for a while and TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE, oh that’s right, you don’t care, you get paid to play game, do your Twitter and make videos for XBL

    I don’t care if I’ll have it in a week and I am calm, I’m tired of MS saying oh you will get it today and all that crap, promises promises……I’m done with MS…..I’ve had plenty of problems with them in the past…..They say stuff and do another, that’s my whole point so telling me to settle down when I’m just explaining things is worthless

    Not to mention their customer service skills suck majorly. My sister convinced me to call them since its already Wednesday and still no update. I spoke in a professional manner and I just wished they did as well, but no all I got was an attitude and a quick hang up. That’s Microsoft for you….taking “good” care of their customer’s needs. ಠ_ಠ

    well i signed up, but then found out since im getting the MW2 console and moving my stuff from the elite harddrive to it, i will be kicked off live, so i backed out, and well today i turned it on and BAM was hit with the update. Will be calling to make sure i dont miss out with my group to play MP on MW2.
