Savannah then New York for MW2

 

I am currently in Savannah, Georgia through Sunday for the Geekend2009 event. I’ll be attending the various conference sessions, and then speaking to the group Saturday night. Drop me a note in the comments if you’re planning on attending. On Monday, I’ll be in New York’s Union Square for the official Modern Warfare 2 launch event shooting video for Inside Xbox and hanging out w/ the crowd.  Here is a PDF file that contains details around Monday’s MW2 Activities.     Went to tonight’s keynote and I’ll definitely be attending Saturday. I’d suggest going to Brenda Brathwaite’s game design lecture if you can, should be interesting.

    Lots of nice MW2 activities to watch. On The Netherlands there are lots of night-openings for Mw2.

    Have placed a pre-order because of work the next day so can’t be up the whole night long :)

    I really like Union Square Events even though the GameStop there is really tiny. And there isn’t a GameStop in TimesSquare. The closest one to that is Rockefeller Center, and that’s in an obscure hallway in the basement.

    Regardless, I hope to be there.

    I thought my pre-order had come today but it was a stupid catalogue that thumped through the letterbox… and as DarkGin87 says you wont get banned if its a legit copy!

    You should give in to the temptation and get some practice in before Tuesday :P

    @cloudzilla / anyone else who has it already – if you do play, could you let me know what the multi-player modes are? I’ve been looking for a full list somewhere but can’t find anything.

    Already have the game and I was considering going to this even (since I live in upper Manhattan) but I just realized that is a scamstop (aka gamestop) event. So I’ll pass.

    If I would’ve known about this like last week I would’ve been there (as I am in the Savannah area – for once!) Now I’m mad at myself because I failed to tell parents in time…

    Either way, I’m looking forward to hearing it tomorrow! (Assuming there will be a show, that is)

    This is great news! I was searching around for info on some sort of launch event in NYC, and this is it. I will be attending the union square event, Major. Should be loads of fun; I’ll try to say “howdy” if you pass by me.

    It would be nice to hear your Geekend keynote. We heard Stepto’s security/ban/community feedback a few weeks ago, so why not your keynote? Perhaps on the end of the next show or a separate Extra Features Podcast?

    I’ve been looking for the right thread. I can’t wait for the release of the next game of the year. I really want to know if xbox live is going to anything about all the player’s that got MW-2 early. It’s totally unfair to everyon else who has waited soooo long for. I feel xbox should either erase the ilegally made achievements and ban the offending players for as long as they have been playing the game prior to the release date. I feel something should be done.

    Infinity ward is resetting the leaderboards at launch. However, there is nothing you can do about achievement, and it’s not as if unlocked achievements hurt anyone.

    AUTH3NTIC MP5, What you mean they should ban those who got MW2 early? If they have a retail copy of the game and their console is not modded, they can’t do anything. Don’t hate the player, hate the game (of getting games early). Warrengonline, glad you like the word scamstop. It fits them perfectly.

    The only bad thing about having the game early is that they will reset everybodys rank back to lvl 1, on the 10

    According to Fourzerotwo twitter… People who bought legit Copies early from Retailers will not be Punished with Reset.

    Im in LI NY & none of the Gamestops near me within 10 miles are releasing copies yet. On Gamestop employee told me on the Phone that He heard some of them on LI were. He also said that his store alone had over 800 Preorders. WOW!

    Now that Gamestops were allowing the game to be sold early, and I have my copy. I’m not sure if the launch event in NY will be as big as people were hoping for.

    Im glad they are resetting the modder’s rankings. I have a few friends that have modded Xboxs, they have been playing the game since Tuesday of last week. Im not so much against modding xboxs as I am against playing games early. Especially if its a competitive mulitplayer game were the long you play the game the better you advantage is ie MW2.
