  • Sneeches

  • N0RDS

1 GO arcade games???? My god its too much. My internet subscription’s not cheap here in canada and we dont have unlimited download bandwith.

I loved my old arcade game when they were less then 150megs

  • driver1775

Nice! Are there plans for XBL to allow gifting items and games from within the Marketplace?

  • Ghostsoft

Awesome! Its too bad the the multiplayer is XBL only (I would have loved split screen).

  • XenoLair

Not available in my location and im not from Germany :/ WTF?

  • metallicorphan

XenoLair-i downloaded it this morning,i can see it up there(I’m UK as well)

  • SummTrulli

Well it is available in Germany ^^
Just downloaded it and had a quick go .. totaly strange playing a old game like that on the 360 and a HD TV :D :D

  • Tjoeb123

I can’t get used to not sprinting.

But it goes without saying that if you bought the PE or HE then you would know by now that it sucks compared to MW2. However, it’s a good game in its own right.

  • MarcosZy

Unfortunately, once again, we have to live with the region locks, despite this game be a XBLA. Unfortunately, here in Brazil we can’t purchase it.

But, if Microsoft does not want to sell, it’s all right. :(

  • dafin0

seeing this makes me want to install it on my computer again, the first one was such a great game but never really got into the others as much

  • Surly x Duff

I’ll pick it up… eventually. Still having plenty of fun with its more recent cousin, MW2.

  • TheDagda509

15 bucks for a game you can buy on any platform for 5. I just don’t get it…

  • Anonymous

Still have the original PC game sitting beside my day-one copy of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault for PC. Not going to spend $15 again. At least the recent Battlefield title on XBLA was a separate IP from BF1942.

No offense. I’m sure plenty will pick up the game. If it plays half as good as it did back in the day on PC, I’d expect it to sell lots. But unless you really want 200 AP, there’s no reason to buy it at this price point. You can easily get this game for PC for under $5, especially on places like ebay and Craigslist, and even modern, crappy Intel Integrated Video cards can play this ancient game on very high settings with ease. And there’s still plenty of servers out there playing classic COD for PC. More than you might imagine.

    Tried it didnt like it.

  • mchiefvs360

I’ll be getting very soon. Won’t run on my spare PC (video card incompatibilty).

Why is it that Activision is region blocking content?
I have a UK account but now live in Sweden (thanks Microsoft for not allowing you to change country of residence on your Xbox account btw). CoD Classic is available in the UK and Sweden yet I can’t buy it because it is “not available in my region” because my account and IP don’t match.
It is the same with CoD map packs.
No other game on Xbox Live does this… :(

  • Bazajaytee

I got a response back from Activision about the region locking and they say it is Microsoft’s fault.
Why Microsoft would region block only CoD games I don’t know. Especially when the content is available in both the country of the Live account and the country the console is in.

“Microsoft has a “geo-fencing” policy with games like Call of Duty: World at War. This means that you may only purchase the Map Packs if your internet connection is physically located in the country where your LIVE account exists. The policy exists to ensure that you can’t download content that is not allowed in your region.

    For example:

If you are an US serviceman living abroad with a US Xbox 360, you can not purchase the Map Packs until you are back in the US.
If you are a German, living in Italy with a German Xbox LIVE account, you can not purchase the Map Packs unless your IP address is located in Germany
If you are living in any country which does not have it’s own Xbox LIVE marketplace, like Poland, you are probably part of the UK Marketplace. You can not purchase the Map Packs, unless you are physically located in the UK.
I’d like to be clear that this restriction is nothing we have control over at Treyarch or Activision and there is unfortunately nothing we can do about it. If you have purchased Microsoft Points with the intent to download Map Pack 2, and realize you are unable to due to this geo-fencing (as it s referred to), the best you can do is contact Xbox LIVE customer support and tell them that you had intended to purchase the Map Pack and are unable to do so.”

Whatever the case, Microsoft needs to realise that people move countries and they don’t want to lose 3 years of gamerscore because they don’t want to allow people to change country of residence.

  • TheDagda509

Baza. thx for doing the legwork and clearing that up for us….

  • XenoLair

F****** bulls***. microsoft really runs a nice business… If its not available in germany than block german IP’s and not half of the world Jesus Christ -.-“

  • OSKAR1983

Why cant I download trial. Says that offer is not available in my region. This is f###ed up man.

  • MarcosZy

I really does not understand what’s the criterion Microsoft uses to block theses contents. Really.

We want to purchase and spend our money, but they seems not bo be interested on it.

  • Bazajaytee

I have points waiting to be spent but Microsoft don’t seem to want them and is blocking Activision from getting my custom. If I was Activision I would be leaning on Microsoft so heavily to remove these stupid limitations that no other games on Live seem to have.

Block me by IP address if you want me at the Swedish Marketplace but don’t block me because my IP and account location don’t match when there is no option to change Account location. Heck I’d even pay the 800 MS Points that you pay for changing Gamertag if it allowed me to change my country of residence.

Digital distribution is meant to be about convenience and service not penalising the customers. :(

  • PunkGuitarist91

This region locking is just silly. I haven’t play CoD in such along time now that it would be nice to replay it. But clearly Microsoft don’t want peoples money if they’ve moved country since they’ve set up their account. This idea of “geo-fencing” just needs to be stopped, in todays world people are constantly moving countries, its not like its an uncommon occurance.

  • Ozzzy189

far far too bloody expensive. wonder how much serious sam will be, hope not the same.

  • MuckRak3r

For anybody on the fence about buying this game buy it. For $15 I just got more single player playing time on this freaking arcade game, than I did for MW2 on Veteran. Of course, Veteran on this game is EXTREMELY hard, but it’s satisfying having 200/200 on this game. Well worth the money in my opinion.

On top of the 26 levels of Single Player, it also has rudimentary online play as well. Sure it’s laggy and you can’t run and it’s not that great – but it simply is added value. Something to do to kill time. Fun game and it’s great to see how this series started.
