Tons of weapons, nonstop explosions? Where do I sign????

  • rogXue

    $15… pass

  • Vegivo

@Rogue i agree i only paid $10 for the Retail copy of the 360 game

  • ClausHH11

Sad that the publisher did not even try to get a rating here in germany…

  • AlphaWolf Fang

I tried the trial, and I was hoping it would be similar to Shadow Complex… But this one is more aimed at massive numbers of enemies and repeated deaths rather than the exploration-aspect that I so enjoyed in Shadow Complex.

Shame, I guess I will have to wait for Shadow Complex 2.

    No Will Arnett, No sale!

    Developer conversation, some weeks ago…
“Our game…. it’s not very good. Damm, what can we do?”
    “Hmm… more development… improve it?”
    “Nah, that’ll cost too much”
    “Add online co-op?”
“Nah, can’t be bothered, That’ll cost too much. We gotta get this crap out”
“How about we just add profanity all over the place… and call it HARDCORE!”
    “Like it!”
“And we can rename ‘hard difficulty’ to ‘f*** this s***’ !”
“Loving it! We’re HARDCORE! Get it out!”

  • SalarymanDaishi

@QualityJeverage: Ummm… Will Arnett should be voicing Matt in this game as well ;) On whole, the original Eat Lead was a surprisingly entertaining parody and if Blood Bath and Beyond continues on that road, definitely interested! Going to wait for a handful of reviews to land first but if the humor is on par with the first game, this one’s a must!

Will try the demo. I like me some mindless shootemup couch coop action but not sure about the $15 price tag.

This game is almost like any other side scrolling 2D action game in history. You walk from left to right and they throw enimies non-stop at you. I don’t think that’s too fun. Wouldn’t even bother buying the game if it was 400 MS points and with the easiest achievements of all time. I rarely like sidescrolling shooting games, but Shadow Complex was good. Probably the fact that you could always go back to anywhere in the world at any time, and also upgrade your character and its weapons.
We had some great XBLA games for the Summer of Arcade period, and Peggle before that (March I think). Hopefully we won’t have to wait untill Summer of Arcade to get some good XBLA games.

Nonsense! I was expecting this to be like shadow complex but turned out different and the actual formula suits it better. Matt Hazzard games are B-games, no upgrades nor exploration here sir. The only fault is the price tag; 1200 points is insane. We will never see a 400 points release ever again.

Saying such things is like comparing metroid (wich shadow complex ripped off in first place) with contra. IMHO there aren’t that many 2D sidescrollers (don’t compare to the smash tv-geometry wars offspring, please) and almost no humor games. There are jokes involving games such as super mario, team fortress and clover studio’s visual trademark style (viewtiful joe, okami) wich I find nice for some hours of brainless shooting and comedic gameplay.

My hopes are just for all those overpriced arcades to be dropped to 400/560 points someday like they did with Marvel vs capcom 2 and battlefield. Oh, and more XBLA future releases scheludes please. It’d be nice to know at least all the current month’s offers and releases let’s say every first week of each month. That’s not asking much but we know it just happened cause doing that was a cool way to avoid updating the blog during holydays.

    Cheers.

It might not be worth 15.00 but it’s a fun game and way better than all the puzzle crap we’re being bombarded with lately.

  • Exu

Ugh, I was looking forward to this after Eat Lead but I got put off by the price, the lack of online co-op, and the fact the game’s poor quality and not much fun.

The controls are all over the damn place. If you want to aim you have to stop. If you stop, you get shot. If you get shot, you die. Lather, rinse, repeat, not fun.
Added to this, there’s no rapid fire. You have to keep mashing X to shoot and thus get RSI.
I’d be encouraged to grab a turbo pad if the game was worth my time.
Why would they not have you aim and shoot with the right stick? Or shoot with RT, it would have still been better.

And the icing on the cake, it’s one of those demos with a time limit. No, game, I decide when I’ve had enough. Not you. Though thanks for getting me to delete it faster!

    In summary: F**k This S**t.

I think we’ve all been spoiled by the greatness that is Shadow Complex, and it’s still too soon for any other side scrolling shooter to come out without inherently being compared. Though, even without Shadow Complex as a factor, this game is pretty bad.

  • xZepher

Sorry MS not buying this until you control your money greed and drop the price.
