Deal, Game Add-on By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • rogXue

    Major,

How does this affect the EA 800 point deal they currently have going? Will users still get 800 points if they buy these two as part of the three required?

  • endlessoul

The Mass Effect add ons are still currently 400 points.

  • Major Nelson

You need to sign in with a gold account to see the lower pricing.

rogXue, I don’t know. I’ll see if I can find out.

  • ShaggyB

i am signed in with a gold account and i still see battle ship as 800 points… what gives

  • Teh FOO

    Finally a deal I care about. W00t!

Queued up and will be downloaded tonight. Maybe I’ll have some incentive to finish ME before 2 comes out.

  • lucasmxbr

I cant even look my Mass Effect box anymore… I playied it so much that i just hate it now… but FORZA 3 RULEZ!!

  • BrayG

I just bought the mass effect add ons 2 weeks ago to get the ea deal. I should have waited longer I guess.

  • Radical R

@BrayG i did the same, gutted now :(

what happens if u got battlefield 1943 for the reduced price btw? does it still count to get the 800 msp back?

  • ShaggyB

    still 800 on Battleship…

  • AriesDog

I would’ve downloaded this but they screwed up how the game handles DLC. My last save point is too late in the game and I’m not going to start it all over again just to play this.

  • RyuZX101

I was hoping that those Games on Demand would drop in price today, since they were supposed to drop in price last week. Major Nelson, could you find out for us when those price drops are supposed to occur and let us know? The games are Civilization Revolution and Prey.

  • zfair899

Bring down the Sky is worth the 240 points. Pinnacle station, however, isn’t

  • ShaggyB

Major? any reason why a gold account looking at Battleship still sees it for 800 mspoints?

  • JonnyDFandango

yeah im going to agree with zfair899… bring down the sky was good.. and def worth the points..even moreso now that its cheaper… but pinnacle station wasnt that great, even for the cheaper price.

  • rogXue

    Ryu,

I bought Bioshock last week at the lowered price. The console showed 29.99 but when I went to confirm the purchase it was 19.99. Hope this helps

  • Snucki

again: too bad I sold my Mass Effect on eBay already, after completing it.
    and 400 MSP for Battleship – no :) – 200 and i’ll get it.

  • Kenjuan

Yes, Major Nelson, please look into that. Can you also get an official confirmation that Battlefield 1943, purchased during the holiday deals, qualifies for the EA promotion? I’ve emailed twice, but I haven’t received an answer. Thank you in advance!

  • Velete

EA already stated on their customer service blog that the price cut for BF1943 and other items in their promotions would still count toward the 800 point rebate program.

They have extended the promotion till the end of the month ( was originally supposed to be over by now )

  • Urchin80

I would also like some official announcement about the EA deal. Specifically BF1943 combined with the ME DLC.

Velete: Do you have a link to that statement? Their site is a mess and I wouldn’t even know where to begin looking for it.

  • Inonix

As ShaggyB I can’t see Battleship for 400 ms points but Mass Effect add ons are 240 ms points. What’s wrong?

  • RyuZX101

rogXue, thanks for the suggestion. I just turned on the console and at the confirm download for Civilization Revolution it is still 2400 MSP, so sadly it remains unadjusted.

  • thebiff16

Whats the point of saying there is a sale going on when the price is the same. By the way Maj. I live in Miami and I am a die hard Saints fan.

  • ShaggyB

Inonix: I still am not able to see Battleship as 400mspoints….. Im going to try through the xbox later tonight…but online still says 800….

    MAJOR, whats the deal here?

  • Kenjuan

Velete, could you please post a link to the blog entry that you mentioned?

  • Sturmjaeger

I finally got around to downloading Pinnacle Station, to do it on my current playthrough. It was a couple hours of fun. Not as hard as I expected, though. At least Shepherd has a love pad now.

  • MadDog Murdoch

Major, per your tweet asking for questions about ME2 for the BioWare guys, here’s a question….

I had played Mass Effect through to conclusion as a good guy, and then a second time as a baddie to unlock some different achievements.

I hear they will take our save game and use that when the sequel starts up (or we can start from scratch, but lose the benefit of any experience points or upgrades).

My question…. Will it force me to play as a baddie since that is how I finished my second game (and is the most recent save game)?

  • Rascoon

Battleship is still at full price. :S

  • reddjoey

Word round the net is Battleship is Japan only

  • Major Nelson

Battleship is indeed Japan only. I’ve updated my post. Sorry about the confusion.

  • Quicksilver4648

“400 Microsoft Points in Japan only.” Seriously, THAT blows. Here I am, with my money expecting to buy the game then whoosh, the floor drops from underneath me. I know people are going to read this and believe I am over reacting, but I have been looking forward to Battleship for a while but did not want to pay $10. Oh well….

  • Kyaizen

An awesome deal this week. I need to get some MSP!

  • Inonix

I’m on the same boat as Quicksilver4648 expecting Battleship to be 400 ms points since the post about january schedule.

  • Lucky 13 X

    @ BrayG and Radical R,

I did the same thing. I bought the Mass Effect content for the EA deal. Should have waited also, but at least we showed EA deals like this WORK. Here’s hoping more companies can follow suit throughout the year.

  • ExtremeGamer

@Quicksilver4648 Hmm, you won’t pay $10 for Battleship, but you’ll pay $5 to have a bird fly around your avatar?

  • RyuZX101

Quicksilver4648, you can get the disc version of Battleship on the Hasbro Family Game Night for $19.99 at Best Buy if you are a Reward Zone Game Club member AND you print out the $20 off coupon on their website. I think that’s a far better deal anyway.

  • ShaggyB

Battleship is Japan only? Wow…. Major, I think considering this has been advertised for the last week on your site as something we here in the US could get, that you guys should honor it.

I know ive been saving my 400 points for it and was very interested in grabbing it. I know if i went into walmart and they had a sale sign up by accident that they would honor it provided i point out the error.

  • thebiff16

And you idiots couldn’t mention this on your fucking show, thanks for all of the hype

  • MuckRak3r

I too am pretty pissed off about this Battleship deal being in Japan only. First of all, are you trying to make it cheaper for the Japanese to re-live the Pearl Harbor experience??

Secondly, the reduced price has been known about for several weeks now and I have been looking forward to it.

$5 is still probably too much, but I don’t pay full price for arcade games that are barely worth half their price. I won’t be buying battleship unless the price drops.

Oh – and a side note – you guys could make so much more money by lowering your games on demand prices. When you are charging $30 for games we can walk in multiple places (or go on amazon) and get them for $10 less easily, you are losing sales. Instead, you should have the CHEAPEST prices available, as there is no physical inventory to ship/receive/warehouse, and digital distribution is cheap, fast, and a more pleasant way to purchase games!

Lower your Games on Demand prices to real market prices, and you will get so many freaking more sales it won’t be funny.

  • Quicksilver4648

@ExtremeGamer, I have the FREE Final Fantasy bird. There is no way I would pay for an avatar pet.

  • aStrangeDisease

I have the same question as MadDog for Bioware: If I played through Mass Effect twice with the same character at opposite ends of the morality scale, will my ME2 char be good or bad?

  • Urchin80

Major Nelson: Any word on whether these deals qualify for the “buy 3, get 800 points” offer yet? That promotion isn’t being handled very well. From what I’ve read on other forums EA says it isn’t their deal and to ask Microsoft. Microsoft says it isn’t their deal, ask EA instead.

If you (Major Nelson) can’t even get this information then how are regular users supposed to know what is going on?

  • RyuZX101

The ‘buy x, get y’ concept is strange. Surely MS can learn from this promo so that when (and if) it is done again it could be handled better. Honestly, since no refunds are offered ever, I’m not sure why the system, with a person double-checking before crediting the account, doesn’t give the 800 points back no later than 48 hours after the third qualifying purchase. Perhaps it’s just me, but I really can’t see a way for anyone to scam the system that it would take several weeks to fulfill the terms of the promo.

  • agingerbreadbum

hmm… too bad it’s only for gold members… i’ll still buy it anyway

  • MuckRak3r

RyuZX101 – thanks for that heads up.

I joined as a Gamer on the Best Buy Reward Zone program and clicked on special offers from their main gaming page.

Printed the $20 off coupon and will be picking this up tomorrow. I would so much rather pay $20 for 7 games, as opposed to $10 each and only get 2!

  • Kenjuan

Say, Major, did you ever get any response from EA after your inquiries into their “Buy 3, Get 800 MSP” promotion? It’s been a couple of days, so I’m hoping you might have heard back by now.

  • Stello2

This is such a good dead imo

  • Stello2

wow i cant type but i meant to spell deal*

  • NeoXDonut

I decided to get the Pinnacle Station dlc since I had some MS points left over.

  • Iregore

I can’t help but notice that the deal is almost over and we still do not know if the EA deal to get a rebate of 800 MSP still applies if we buy these at the discounted rate as part of the three.
