10 Things you need to know from X10

 

I am in San Francisco today where we are hosting our X10 media event. This invite only event gives our media friends the chance to hear some news, get updates on some of the upcoming games and (more importantly) get hands on time with some of the titles.

 

Here, in no specific order, are 10 things you need to know coming out of X10 today:

  • The Halo Reach multiplayer beta will kick off on May 3. You will be able to access the beta via the Halo 3: ODST game disc.
  • Dead Rising 2 will release in North America on Aug. 31, Japan on Sept. 2 and Europe on Sept. 3.
  • Dead Rising: CASE ZERO an exclusive download only on Xbox LIVE, will launch prior to the full game and provide a playable prologue that bridges the story between the two titles.
  • Alan Wake will launch May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe. Players can pre-order the title to receive the Bright Falls Bonus Pack, which includes exclusive content like Avatar gear, an Xbox LIVE theme, and a “making of” video.
  • The Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XIII Special Edition Bundle will release starting March 9 for $399, and include a 250GB Hard Drive, two Wireless Controllers, exclusive downloadable avatar items and a Standard Edition copy of the game.
  • Toy Soldiers will kick off the Xbox LIVE Arcade Block Party on March 3
  • Perfect Dark, Scrap Metal and Game Room will launch this March as a part of the Xbox LIVE Arcade Block Party.
  • Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction will release at retailers starting April 13 in North America, April 16 in the United Kingdom, and April 28 in Japan.
  • Lost Planet 2 will launch in North America and Europe on May 18.
  • Fable III will be available this holiday.

    I don’t mean to excite everyone too much but ign have posted a preview of Perfect Dark and in it they claim the game is going to be only 800 microsoft points!!!!

    Am I the only one blown away by the Toy Soldiers videos on Xbox.com? THAT is a game I am excited about. (And Crackdown 2)…(And Dead Rising 2)

    But really, that Toy Soldiers stuff is the best thing I’ve seen for a while. Hopefully the gameplay delivers the goods.

Seriously, nobody has a gun to your head forcing you to buy anything. Old arcade games released on Live in the past are remakes. Game Room games will be arcade perfect, but again, if you don’t want to buy the same game again then just don’t. Honestly, some people will find ANY excuse to whine on here, rather than look forward to all the good stuff that’s coming out. LOL.

    Ppl speaking of exclusive FFXIII content…. but it’s just exclusive downloadable avatar items…
    Waiting for my Special Edition for PS3 (hurray for europe lol)

    The only interesting thing up there is a release date for Lost Planet 2 even though it’s quite late. Oh well at least I got something for the summer.

    @ DJ Deathstar: Yeah Perfect Dark has officially been confirmed to be only 800 points and coming out next month as part of the Block Party promotion! And that’s not all either: “not only does the game now support up to 8 players, but everything you’d expect to be online (co-op, counter-op, and competitive multiplayer) is on Live.     great news but game room is a no-go to me. I never will buy any of these overpriced crap games. It was a bad idea to create something like game room. I would rather to create something like PS3 Home. I would like to do much more with my avatar. Dont need a rip-off application like game room. But thats only my opinion.We will see if game room will be successful or not.

    Alan Wake will be awesome…first day purchase! And looking forward to Perfect Dark.I only hope that i wont be dissapointed

    Pricing for Perfect Dark is sound (800), you can shove everything else. XBLA Block party seems a bit of a duff idea, to be honest.

    all great annoucements…have tons of games still to play through from back end of last year so not bothered about when the big games come

    great news about PD coming in march……if it is indeed a 800 points mark then that would be brilliant…..has it actually been officialy announced? would of thought 1200 at the very most

    While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, your own comments make it sound more like sour grapes than actual experience or knowledge.

    You claim you have no interest at all in Halo so how do you know ODST is a crapfest?? Why then would you even care that you need ODST to participate in the beta?

    I’m not sure I agree with your assessment of participating in beta’s either. I consider it something fun. You get to play a game for free before it is released. So what if you are helping to test and by doing so you are making a better game in the end when you actually do purchase it (if you’ve enjoyed the beta).

    Personally I thought ODST was a great game. I had a lot of fun with it. I had not purchased any of the Halo 3 maps so this was a great way for me to get them as well. My son has only stopped playing ODST to play the Halo 3 maps, and vice-versa. So to me, the ODST package was an extremely gratifying purchase. To get to be in the Reach beta is just an added perk.

    Sorry if you are having a bad day but man your attitude toward these things that you yourself claim you care nothing about is just a downer.

    I sure don’t look at being in a beta on a console as work. A game put out as beta on a home console is in pretty good shape. I look at it as getting to play a game before its release. I remember playing the CoD4 beta for like 30 hours. Never felt like I was working for a second.

    thats the best thing about Gamefly, they post the actual release dates when they’re final, till then the game stays TBA, no hype no disappointment no crap.

    It’s okay but, I havent played the MP portion because nobody has it. Trying to play the three part story in order has me jumping from alien to marine to predator. It’s nothing new that we haven’t already in a FPS.

    Just pre-ordered the FF XIII Super Elite just because 1) It’s a white Elite, 2) Exclusive Faceplate + Avatar items.

    Also looking forward to Perfect Dark after watching the X10 video – reminds me so much of Goldeneye – I guess it’s the closest thing we’re ever gonna get to it.

    I was asking that because Square has yet to announce a special edition for us US gamers, so I was led to believe that that’s actually happened.

    Star Ocean is another favorite series of mine, and we didn’t get a limited edition like EU did…..

    I thought Perfect Dark for the 64 was awesome. Had so many options/features over Golden Eye. Bots being one. Cloaking, firing remote controlled missles then stalking your victive. Also tagging someone with remote mines and then detonating at your leisure. Fun Fun

    The Final Fantasy Console excited me the most to be honest not sure why though because its has a cool LE box and is in White which is about time for Elite. Would probably bought this if I had no console instead got the MW2 LE console. I recommend them the Jaspers are great plus there a good deal 250GB, game, two controllers just no darn HDMI cable.

    As far as I’m concerned the only thing you need to know is that there is a Transformers War for Cybertron video @ marketplace. You’ve to be living under a rock to ignore all those stuff about dead rising 2 and FFwhatever games. Loved the past-gen cartoon based transformers game.

    It looks like Battlefield 1942 meets Counter-Strike with toy soldiers. The graphics are sweet. I just don’t know how many people will buy another version of BF1942 for 1200 MSP. The gameplay better be innovative with great word of mouth or this could die quickly.
