@Arsenic How many shooters/stealth action/non-RPGs have you played in the past 5 years that are longer?

  • Disco Ball

Adding it to my que, another game to play today, on my birthday, where It ook off work to just chill at home. Can’t wait to try it!

  • Basic Elite

Didn’t really like it at all. I guess I will be un-preordering this title.

  • Oh baby 1994

Demo is AWESOME!! Can’t wait for this one now!!

  • r3dreck

Already dumped my preorder and waiting for it cheap… the demo is ok, not really a stealth game anymore.

  • Venom V73

Liked the demo, can’t wait for the full game.

  • Gonzo345

    Downloading…

  • LeX DiRtY

Best Splinter Cell ever. So much fun. I preordered it a month ago but after playing the demo… I CAN’T WAIT!

  • Kev K 87

    I likes it.

  • QualityJeverage

Demo is excellent. Make no mistake, it’s very, very different from past Splinter Cell games. That’s not a bad thing.

Lots of people will be angered by that, but let’s face it: The series was getting stale fast. They’ve done pretty much everything possible with that formula. That’s not to say the past games weren’t great, they absolutely were, but Splinter Cell desperately needed a change, and Conviction brings it.

  • Ark Hunter

    Woot!

  • DarkGin87

Demo was too short. i think ill pick this up later in the year

  • Chaos Vandal

sweet in my que can’t wait to get off work and play

  • Dedatos

    YAY!
thanks for the heads up MAJOR!!!!
    whens this coming out?

  • HeLLeVeN

    @Dedatos: April 13

    Great game, love the demo.

  • BeeDizz

Feels old school. Much more stealth oriented than Double Agent. I was worried about the new “tag and execute” game style, but making you earn it first by doing a hand to hand kill was brillant.

Beating a level, or beating a level on Realistic is not what makes SC so good. It’s the feeling of accomplishment by beating it on Realistic without being detected that’s makes the series so great. And doing that in the demo is VERY rewarding. Can’t wait for the full game. I’m sold.

  • MACPH1ST0

On a side note, I know it’s a stretch asking this, but why is there a 16GB cap on the upcoming Spring Update allowing the use of USB storage devices with the 360? I know MS still wants to sell their HDDs, but 16GB isn’t much with all the downloadable media for the 360 these days. Figures something like this would happen right after I ordered a MU! *sigh*
    http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/18/xbox-360-gaining-usb-storage-support-in-2010-update/

  • AMT

Major Nelson: The story referenced by Joystiq about use of our own HDDs. Please tell someone that the 16GB limit is BS. This theoretically could allow us to use SSD drives in RAID0 on our 360s which would “eliminate” load times on our games that are either installed to our HDDs or downloaded from Xbox Live. You as a gamer would appreciate this, as would we. I understand the logic to limit the capacity to continue selling Microsoft branded HDDs or consoles, but for the love. Dreaming of speed in a stacked deck world. OR Micorsoft could see a branded RAID0 SSD solution for us that would like that option.

  • BeeDizz

    @MACPH1STO

At least it’s a start. 16 gigs now, maybe unlimited later? I don’t like a limit either, but it’s better than nothing right now.

  • AMT

furthermore, if the PS3 controller didn’t $@CK so bad I would have put an Intel SSD drive in one of those, and case closed, but Microsoft allows for installation on all games and therefore, the speed benefit of an SSD drive would likely be much more beneficial on Xbox 360′s platform. So apparently Mac and I read the same site, so give us and the rest of the community an answer or lobby for this or similar solution for the love of the game….where microsoft can continue to milk their 5,400 RPM drives cow while we can get the speed/size/portability, etc. we seek.

  • MACPH1ST0

@ BeeDizz: Yeah I know, at least it’s a step in the direction and LONG overdue. I bet Datel is sure going to feel screwed by Microsoft’s sudden about-face policy on storage devices.

  • Shonk jr

    a 16gig limit is bs

you see dlc as the future and want to charge the earth for hd space

this was only done as nobody was willing to pay £35 for a 50p 512meg usb stick

there should be nothing stopping me fitting a 640gig 2.5″ sata drive
and no next bootup the xbox offering to format the drive

and adding a 2tb usb drive

its a prime example of what microsoft are like in a monopoly position

  • AMT

Also, just to clarify, the speed benefit is still possible (I think) with a USB connected SSD with use of a enclosure of some sort; however, the 16GB still comes into play and therefore you are missing out the size benefit. Better than nothing but swing for the fences is the way to go!

  • Kroesis

My HD is still the 20GB version from the Pro, as I’ve been waiting for the 250GB Xbox HDD to be released (so the 120 GB HDD drive would come down in price). I’ve been fairly successfully thrifty about how I use the limited space I have yet I have, sat right next to the 360, a 1TB External HDD with hours of music and movies on and it still has over 250Gb of storage space. I would love it if that HDD was to become supported (and DivX/Xvid for my movies!) but somehow I can’t see that happening.

Still, I like how this thread has been driven off it’s tracks!

  • MACPH1ST0

Another good thing about this update: now the USB drive with the Collector’s Edition of this game (and some other Collector’s Editions too) can be put to good use with the 360! (see how I tied it all back together there?)
Now if we just knew how big the USB drive is with this game…

  • Kroesis

    @MACPH1ST0 nice tie in there!

  • SumHydroponic

Loving the Splinter Cell Conviction Demo. Cannot wait for the full retail copy to hit.

  • chiruno99

Splinter Cell not being a stealth game is like Comfy Pillows being made of concrete. It’s a dissapointment, I’m afraid; probibly of Ubisoft now.

  • GamingTailor

Loved the demo. Can’t wait for the full game.

  • Computerdude103

    microsoft are stoopid.

  • Oh baby 1994

Well said QualityJeverage, I liked the demo, the only thing that worries me is that the single player is an 8 hour game. Not sure i would play MP on this one.

  • DarkTear81

Already pre-ordered the game but the demo makes me like “Gimme teh game nowz!”

I can’t understand some comments here saying it’s not a stealth game anymore. Actually Ubi finally gives the player the freedom of choice how to approach something.

I played the demo like 5 times. I tried Run’n'Gun and Stealth and both worked fine. Ttere’re multiple entrances to the facility and later on near the end you can actually find a way to sneak behind enemy lines and you’re even able to avoid some enemies completely.

    For me it’s a must-buy.

  • aXXXXo

    Demo is Awesome best game

  • Bubblechucker

Looking forward to trying the demo, but how about that Aliens Vs Predator DLC that Sega said was going to be out yesterday? You know, the DLC that is already certified and has been available to people who bought the Hunter Edition? The same DLC that is currently available for the PC and PS3?

  • AndyW360

The demo is excellent, the stealth is still there you just have to be clever in thinking how you can take down the guys.

For instance the first building you come to when you start the game outside I have noticed in video’s online that everyone is going through the door, if you walk down the left side of the building you will find a drain pipe where you can climb in through the window take a couple of guys down then climb out again, now when you go through the door where you can use the mirror to look under it the guy will most probably not be behind it, sneak in and take down the rest of the guys by sneaking around the room.

Give it a try if you have not found the window as their looks like their are going to be many ways finish missions in Splinter Cell Conviction.

    Awesome, Bring it on.

  • Bubblechucker

The AvP DLC came out shortly after I entered my comment…thanks for helping me make myself look like a tool Major ;)

Everything you do to keep the Xbox community updated with goings on is much appreciated btw

  • Blue Thunder28

AMAZING demo! Super excited for this game! Played Chaos Theory sooo many times through, never got around to Double Agent besides the annoying demo so it felt amazing to finally be playing Splinter Cell again, this MIGHT be the best one yet I’m loving the style of it there’s so many things I could go on about.

  • theXtReMe1

WHy are Xbox Live Marketplace speeds so slow? I have a 30Mbit connection and am lucky if I get 500-900KB/sec. Doesnt matter what time of day I connect… It isnt a router setting… I get 2-4MB/sec with any other site. Why is the biggest corporations website in America… so slow?

  • Z4M0

Fisher meets Bourne. Looks like an excellent game but maybe not an excellent splinter cell game. Still, I like it.

  • Shinji257

Hmm… I’ll take a look at it when I get home. Already set it on the queue.

  • cinco312

Ehhh…it was alright. I’ll rent it.

  • Kroesis

Just got around to playing the demo, it was actually pretty good. I was getting bored of the old Splinter Cell formula but from what I’ve seen in this demo things are looking up, I might go out and get it. It doesn’t top my list of wanted new games, but it’s up there.

  • MeS FEAR

i was playing the demo and all i can say is that its better than Double Agent. Its on my purchase list but i am going to purchase some other games first before i get this one :)

  • ElektroDragon

Wow, that was the shortest demo ever….. 2GB for 10 minutes?

  • LegendaryMSN

meh i thought it wasent that good at all

  • Velete

    Terribly buggy :P

You can have a convo with a guard while killing his friend infront of him lol

  • LittleBlueAlien

Not available to silver members – I guess I can’t evaluate this game then. Pass.

  • Anonymous

horrible. the only good last stealth game was Batman: Arkham Asylum

  • stststststq

LOL@people moaning about the rumoured update to allow USB storage to work as a memory unit. 16 GB is 32 times the size of the biggest MU you can get now, and they cost way too much. Being able to install games and copy/move saves and gamertags to any USB stick will be awesome. No more needing to buy expensive and limited MU’s that don’t have as much functionality and no more need to buy a transfer kit. Still, it won’t stop the moaning bastards on here from whining like bitches again though, no doubt! lol.

  • stststststq

Oh and LOL@people moaning about this demo too. First off, it’s 1.19 GB which isn’t 2 GB. Also, it’s an edited version of a later level in the game designed to be more of a tutorial for what the full game will offer. If you want to see it played stealthily, have a look at some real gameplay here: -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fwF3A4FNHM

    Moan! Moan! Whine! Moan! LOL……………

  • Shonk jr

I think you will find people apreciate the usb memory use
but they dont like the artificial limits imposed
to keep the hd cash cow rolling in

  • NEW P4TH

I thought the demo was pretty good. I do miss the old Splinter Cell gameplay, but the new one looks like a step in the right direction. I cant wait for the game, but I do hope that Ubisoft makes the next one with alittle more stealth involved.

  • mark316uk

short demo but realy gritty and looks / plays well might have 2 pick this 1 up

  • Mr Weazle

That isnt Splinter Cell, But it is Good
