    Finally something FREE.

I bought the map pack so this is a nice thank you.

  • Doh Ray Egon

@CARNAGE RULES: And you’re just a whore for attention.

  • UnarmedGorilla

FREE & WHORES… this blog just keeps getting better and better…

BTW free = more gooder! Thanks!

  • ImpulsePrince

    nice major :-) thx

… and right on cue Tardage Rules makes his entrance to do nothing other than b*tch about how much people like free stuff. Wow how original.

ok but 1200p for the maps is a outrage…Tell IW to take there glasses and shove it where the sun don’t shine…Money hungry SOBs

  • Gonzo345

Nice! But I can’t wear my glasses at the same time!

  • Gambit3rd

@xCHIEFMEGADETHx: Pricing is “courtesy” of Activision, not IW.

  • Shawcross

Great avatar item and its even better cause its free.

  • DarkTear81

I got another pricing question… why is the festive day pack gift for Dragon Age: Origins free on the PS3 but you want 240MSP for it? It is declared a gift after all =(

  • P00K

Oh look Shiny things! Now I’ll forget all about the overpriced map pack!
Oh wait, no I won’t. I also see now who’s “moderating” the comments. /sarcasm?
“Paying that price for nothing more than five new maps seems absurdly out of whack to me.” – Kotaku
“$15 for three new maps and two cut/paste jobs, or five bucks more than comparable content for any other AAA-game. That’s the kind of gall I’d admire, if it didn’t come off as a big middle-finger salute to their own fans.” – IGN.com
“If you’re one of the millions of people who purchased the first entry in the series and spent a considerable amount of time online, then I’d say there’s reason to be upset with the steep asking price. ” – IGN.com

I thought those night-vision goggles were cool until they started giving them away. Now everybody will have them. You wont see me getting them now.
You can get free food at a homeless shelter, but that doesn’t make it cool, unless you’re a hobo.

  • Awesome Wells

    Wait? What?

I can download free whores from Live?

  • CaNiBaL Elite

I will take the freebie/bone, but will not pay for activisions stimulus package. Activison is getting countersued over unpaid roylalties over MW2, no wonder why the high price for the DLC. Would love to see free map pack it would grab the public more.

  • BrooksterMax

Ok, thanks cheaper maps as well please!

  • SkaterCamster22

  • cinco312

Free, from Infinity Ward? Those word don’t go together. I won’t use it, but I downloaded it.

  • mccalejk

CARNAGE RULES trolls every blog him. Ignore him. He has no life.

  • Whetzel

    Avatar crap. Enough said.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

  • sleepydumbdude

Maybe advertiser need to look into giving away free avatar stuff instead of themes and gamer pics. About 25% of the people on my list now sport either the night vision googles, the 2010 glasses, the grill, some even still have the holiday present.

::awaits Big Mac (I want a happy meal), Tmobile or Sprint cell phone, or LG TV avatar items in future::

  • iPhone 6G

You can never have too much free stuff! Thanks Major!

  • IrishTirade

show your pride in contributing to the death of gaming … shove your mapathy up your downloadable arse … thnx but no thnx actilizard …

  • Anonymous

shoulda been only for the ppl that bought the Stimulus Package

  • AsianBlastaTRON

Free stuff is good. Although it does look like a turtle on my head my PAX hoodie makes it look good.

    Thanks Major!

I don’t even own MW2, but I enjoyed the first one. Didn’t have the longevity for me like Halo (Fanboys, keep your opinions to yourselves. This is MY opinion).

However, upon hearing the price for the Stimulus Package, I was angry for all the people who ended up paying for it. I honestly feel like there should be a 400MSP refund as opposed to Activision giving away a ridiculous Night-Vision Goggle helmet as a means to say, “We’re sorry.”

DLC has definitely been a huge issue lately, especially in terms of its value. Some games like Borderlands will release a whole new episode to the game, which really feels like it holds the $10 price tag (Particularly Zombie Island and Secret Army). But map packs feel like a joke, even 800MSP for MW1, World at War, and Halo 3. It just seems like SO much money for a couple maps to play on. It doesn’t add any significance to the game or any new “content” outside the maps themselves. You are literally paying $10 for a couple maps. Period.

The Stimulus Package has you paying $15 for maps. With Left 4 Dead 2’s DLC coming out soon for 560MSP, you get an entirely new campaign, multiple new game modes, new zombies, and new weapons. A DLC that has way more firepower (No pun intended) than the Stimulus Package, yet it is more than half the price. This whole Modern Warfare popularity is just going to end up ripping people off for as long as it’s big.

  • jlissandrello

I just tried to download the “free” headset and my account was deducted 240 MS points. WHAT A FREAKIN JOKE.

  • RyuOn360

    free, woot

  • P00K

@jlissandrello: What part of “until Sunday April 4th night at 12m PT” did you misunderstand?

  • CaNiBaL Elite

Just seen this on twitter from MN…

We’re thanking those #XboxLIVE Gold members who purchased the #MW2 Stimulus Pack on Day 1 w/ a free week of Gold! Chk your live messages.

So those who buy the yearly gold @ $49.99 for 52 weeks. 1 Week of gold = $0.959!! ROFLAO what a joke nice try to look good once again…

  • P00K

@CaNiBaL: That’s only if you pay full price for live. I usually get my 1 year cards at Amazon for 39.99 – so a week of live is even less at arounr 76 cents.

  • RuairiAU

“We’re thanking those #XboxLIVE Gold members who purchased the #MW2 Stimulus Pack on Day 1 w/ a free week of Gold!” – Majornelson via twitter.
LOL – nice of you chaps to give a dollar to 5 people who bought this garbage.

  • CaNiBaL Elite

@ POOK that makes it even more fuuny. So how can Amazon charge 39.99? Do they get it at 29.99 buying them in bulk or something? Or are they taking a loss on them?

  • stststststq

People are even moaning at free MW2 goggles and a free week of Live for those that bought the map pack on day 1! Hahaha! Such ungrateful, spoiled little brats.

  • Adaptor

    For the last f***ing time!

    Infinity Ward = Great developer.
    Activision = Corporation gone evil.

    Got it?

  • rikietje

Damn really thanks, love my goggles!

  • T 1 N G O

Major I just sent you a message, please read it. I can’t believe that people who didn’t buy the MWF2 Stimulus Package got the Night Vision Goggles. Microsoft should had send a text message to the people who bought the map pack on day one.

  • EveofLight

Got me these babies as soon as I saw it was free, it goes well with my Sam Fisher clothing :D

  • EveofLight

Oh yeah, I don’t play MW2 as much as my twin does (she is hooked to it) though I don’t know why…there are too many cry babies in that game and they forget their objectives and worry about K/D ratios it just ruins the fun for me personally…but my sis is begging me to get those maps and I told her its too pricey for a game I don’t play as much or don’t really care for.
Maybe if it was 800 I THINK I would download it.
