Holy crap. Tomb Raider: Legend is exactly four years old (April 11, ’06) and it’s $40 Canadian. Insane!

  • I DLord I

Yea, I want to know the people that are actually paying more for a digital copy of something than the hard copy. I see no logic in that.

  • The Dukenator

Tomb Raider Legend allows you to buy Tomb Raider Anniversary as DLC.

  • Dopey2400

@amacvance and @I DLord I; most of those games that they have for on demand downloading are over-priced. For me personally, I just don’t buy them, I’d prefer to find the deals. I also agree with you guys in the fact that it is asking way too much for a four year old game.

  • Venom V73

Yea, can pick these up dirt cheep.

  • chiruno99

I’ve never considered picking up a Digital Copy of an Xbox360 game but I find it easier havin everything on the disc so my HDD dosen’t get clogged.

  • The Dukenator

@chiruno99 I only got one digital copy of an xbox 360 game as I had trouble locating the disc version.

  • Macdory

Good to see MS are doing their usual and just ignoring us …

How many times will they post games at stupid prices – just pay someone to look on a price comparison site to see what the retail price is and pick something around there, rather than wasting resources, etc on loading this stuff onto your servers.

You will never be taken seriously as a digital distributor on the 360 or the PC until you become competitive. I appreciate that you have more of a closed market on XBOX, but when you are asking more for a digital copy that cannot be traded in as a disk copy can be is just insane.

Digital copies should be the same price or cheaper than retail disks – really should be cheaper to take into account that there is no box, disk, manual, logistics, etc, but even at teh same price at elast it becomes a choice and people do not feel ripped off.

Add to this the 20GB HDD that a lot of people have and the chances of selling things on your store diminishes – put the price at these levels and the chances just dissapear up your own ass.

  • sleepydumbdude

I’d love to see sale numbers on these games. As usual 10 dollars too much for me even to consider.

  • WhiT3Kr0w

Agree with the posts above. Too expensive.

  • TANK 2old2play

Both can be yours for the low low price of twice what you’ll pay @ gamestop :)

  • ElektroDragon

Yet more games that I ALREADY OWN! How about putting up Borderlands, Bayonetta, Magna Carta 2, Metro 2033, Specrtal Force 3, Dark Void, etc?

  • Codename6

Tomb Raider: Legend – $7.99 preowned at Gamestop.

    $7.99!

  • Karayum

Yeah, 2nd hand games are way better than picking up a digital copy of a game. Saves HDD memory too.

  • Neo X5

@codename6 – Too bad these aren’t used games…not sure why everyone insists on comparing used game prices to the games on demand. They are basing their prices of the MSRP of new games…not used.

  • The Bill Payer

Microsoft must be out of their minds to think $30 for Tomb Raider is exceptable.

  • cinco312

I actually just bought this game at Gamestop the other day for $7.99 used, without a scratch on it. Who in their right mind would pay $30 for a four year old game that wasn’t even that good.

  • Tahmer

Tomb Raider Legend is pretty damn good and all, but $30 for a digital copy? hahahahahahaha… Oh they’re serious….

  • The Dukenator

I paid like $8.26 for my copy of Tomb Raider Legend from a local Movie Gallery that was closing down.
I already have Tomb Raider Anniversary on disc, so no need to buy it again as DLC from Tomb Raider Legend.

  • Lohengriehn

In Germany: Used 7€. On marketplace 19,99€ without any manual, cases and so on. And your HD doesnt get filled up that fast with a purchased “real” copies. I think, its a nice idea by MS, but as someone said earlier: Its just too expensive and with too much disadvantages when you buy digital copies. At a price around 10€ I would consider to buy, even if free space decreases very fast with a digital copy.

  • sleepydumbdude

I got this Tomb Raider for 15 brand new at Sears 1-2 years ago.

  • DeviousBroccoli

Pretty sure I got disc versions of Legend, Anniversary (new) and Underworld (also new) for half the asking Canadian On Demand price of Legend alone. That’s just asinine.

  • CARNAGE RULES

When are you guys going to learn that MS DOESN’T HAVE TO LOWER THE PRICE.

  • b trumpet

    Tomb Raider? Eh.

  • Shamrock

Does anyone actually buy these games at 30-40 dollars when you can find the game used for 5-15 dollars?

If your one of these suckers, just message me. You can send me 40 bucks, I’ll go buy it used and ship it to you and kindly take your extra money.

  • A Place for Us

Tomb Raider: Legend…I got this many years ago really cheap and it wasn’t nowhere near £19.99. Heck, it was new and cheaper than the PS2 game at the time. Now, you can get it probably £3-6 used.

This isn’t even worth it even if Tomb Raider Anniversary DLC was put in.

  • The Dukenator

Tomb Raider Anniversary was put in as DLC for Tomb Raider Legend, before it got its own disc release months later.

  • Exu

Move along people nothing to see here.

  • I DLord I

“When are you guys going to learn that MS DOESN’T HAVE TO LOWER THE PRICE. ”

Well they should, because these prices are stupid. There I said it. Digital of ANYTHING in theory is cheaper to manufacture, because there is no manufacturing. It is cheaper shipping, because there is no shipping and it is cheaper to distribute because there is no retail front. More often than not there is no pre-production, there is no development process, the product is already on the market. In GoD case, the products have been on the market for some time. The GPM must be astronomical for when people actually do buy GoD. Everything about it screams lower overhead. But you know what GoldFarmer? Your right, Logic is stupid.

I pity your woeful sense of consumerism.

  • AN1MAL75

Not sure what to say but omg, really 30 bucks for a 4 yr old game cut price in half and triple the sales wow way to screw up a great service like GOD. EPIC FAIL

  • The Dukenator

MS does lower the price on their Games on Demand titles, it takes awhile to do so.

  • DavidGX

More overpriced digital content to store on our overpriced hard drives. Major, can you just STOP posting this crap here? As an XBOX fan, it’s depressing :(

  • X360 IT

THE COMMUNITY WANT THE GAMES ON DEMAND AT 10 EURO.
UNTIL PRICE IS 29,99 THEY DOWNLOAD AND BURN IT AND PLAY FOR FREE.

  • Kroesis

@ElektroDragon – Xbox Live and GoD serves other people as well as you! Strange but true. People may not have games you already have.

Anyway, Tomb Raider…far too expensive even for the convenience of not having to go into town to get it. I might start buying the GoD games when their prices start making sense. Until then it gives me more money to spend on new releases.

  • BloodOmen360

All this talk about used and I can buy it new for 10 euros, about 14 dollars, and Tomb Raider Underworld for the same. Hell, I can buy all 3 (Legend, Anniversary and Underworld) new for less than this, just check some stores like play.com. It’s even cheaper for UK residents…

  • BrooksterMax

I agree with DavidGX, I mean don’t waste your time telling us of these deals that clearly no-one is interested in.

More easter holiday deals please! More arcade hits as well :)

Why are you releasing so many GoD of this age and at this price – are they actually selling?

  • SilentHunter382

I don’t really like it when people compare the GoD to the used version of the game. You should compare them to the new price when they are not on sale. But if Microsoft started selling new released games on the GoD I would buy a few straight away.

  • I DLord I

    @SilentHunter

Exactly. If these were new releases or something, I believe the pricing is fair. I mean you get no materials save the game itself as a digital copy. A lower price as a GoD would be a HUGE incentive for people with a budget.
Although I do think it is reasonable to compare the GoD prices to used prices because the games they are releasing are old. Devil May Cry 4 came out WHEN? (2008). You can find a used copy of DMC4 easier and cheaper than a new copy, and it will work just as well.

    Bottom line -
The GoD program should be a reasonable alternative to buying the game used. Not a violent raping of my wallet. The GoD program could be gold, pure gold. The price point is pretty much the only thing I can find holding it back.

  • Neo X5

@I DLord I – Technically you should be able to put a GoD title on to a USB drive and play anywhere…as long as you are signed into Live if you are taking it away from the console you purchased it on.

  • Neo X5

Just wanted to add, I am not saying go out and buy a USB drive for every game purchased on GoD…that would just be crazy…but I thought I would throw it out there if you wanted a “physical copy” that is.

  • BloodlesSprout2

I agree, why pay this money for an on demand game when you can get it cheaper second hand. And if you don’t like it trade it in again, you can’t do that with a digital game.

  • ninshua

Please put Phantasy Star Universe on Games on Demand!!! It’s a subscription based MMO but copies are nearly impossible to find. I have friends that want to play the game but give up looking for a copy…
