Marketplace, Xbox 360 Games On Demand By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • darkdeath174

Seriously 39.99 for The Force Unleashed in Canada. No one in their right minded would pay for that when The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition is 39.99.

  • Cueil

Yeah… I agree… the darn game should be 19.95USD like all the other games of it’s kind… 29 is the cost for the Ultimate Sith Ed.

  • UnarmedGorilla

What darkdeath174 said. And I’m pretty sure you can get the Sith Edition for much less used.

  • Venom V73

Games on demand really needs to start adjusting the prices of all their games. All the games they offer you can get cheaper new and used at almost any store.

  • Exu

    Yet again, Microsoft? Oh dear.

  • Deltacore16

I’d rather have the hard copy of these games. Which usually come cheaper. Games on Demand is a lose, lose situation for everyone.

  • HyperShot

**No.1 Wish list Games on Demand release for the past 5 weeks has been:
    Phantasy Star Universe >
    http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802534507e3/?of=1
    http://forums.xbox.com/32101261/ShowPost.aspx
Please make it avail in all regions hopefully soon.

  • g00ner b0y

If these where half the price they would sell better. Maybe they should be include in DOTW sometimes

  • SCS 85

Fair price on Topspin, but I got it for $5 cheaper, almost two years ago.

  • VVho Cares

$20 bucks new at Target.. What gives. and i pay the extra $50 bucks a year for Gold and i get slammed with prices higher than i can buy at any local retailer. So $10 markup for instant download? Seriously?

  • III Bish0p III

I bought Force Unleashed brand new at my job like 4 days ago for $3.00. That isn’t a price you will find everywhere but I’m sure the average price you can get it now is like 8 – 10 bucks. I know MS can’t compete with that price with Games on Demand but they could at least try lol. I don’t know anyone in their right mind who is going to pay 30 bucks for that game.

  • The Bill Payer

This is outrageous, if I were to buy the Forced Unleashed with all it’s content over Xbox Live it would be over $70 dollars with the tax. Does Microsoft know the meaning of COMPETITIVE PRICING?

  • darkjester74

Yep, TFU should definitely be $20 tops.

  • Blue Thunder28

GOTY Editions and games that include DLC on disk should be on GoD a lot more often.. like Fallout 3 for example.. and Force Unleashed.

  • chiruno99

Same comments every time a GoD post is posted. Most people sayin they can get it cheaper, most people crying they’re too expensive and someone still wanting PSU on GoD.

It got annoying the 12th time but yet they continue to cry on.

  • The Bill Payer

@chiruno99 I guess you like paying outrageous prices that are higher than retail huh? If a product is higher than it’s retail brethren there’s a problem. Microsoft needs to start pricing these games competitively.

  • Kroesis

Those same comments happen to be facts. If they annoy you that much, don’t read the comments. If you simply have to, well…. tough

  • Macdory

@chiruno99 People probably continue to “cry on” as you put it because Microsoft continue to ignore what their customers are saying … funny that …

  • Ozzzy189

Why can’t the uk get Raiden as a game on demand ? I know it never came out here and this would be the only way to play it, even it it’s way overpriced.

  • I DLord I

    Pass.

  • chiruno99

Those comments are opinions by whiney kids, NOT FACTS! They’re just crying over how they can get the same title for a fraction of the price on a pre-owned disc and the diital copies are too expensive, always forgetting about the benfits of a Digital Copy. It’s pathetic.

  • MACPH1ST0

So Too Human is only available in Japan? That’s a shame – it should be available everywhere because it’s a great, vastly underrated game that everyone should have a chance to play (especially for the fun co-op). Now come on Silicon Knights, give us the rest of the trilogy!

  • AZRoboto

Too Human only available in Japan? I was just thinking about picking it up. Oh well, looks like I’ll save some money and order it online somewhere

  • ForAllTheCows83

    @chiruno99

I think you twisting things to suit your argument there. Two things:

    - You can usually buy a NEW retail disc version of these games cheaper than the G.0.D price.
    - Yes there are benefits of digital downloads, but there are just as many downsides to detract from them.

I understand they are simply charging the RRP as it stands for each country/location. But except for overpriced outlets like EB, what retailer doesn’t heavily discount off the RRP as the title ages?

I’ve never traded in a game, so I would definately buy G.O.D if it was around 85% of the GOING RATE price for the titles. I think that is a fair deal for both the publisher and the consumer given the significant cost reductions for digital delivery. If the price was the same, I’d still buy the physical copy so that I can easily swap with friends etc.

  • mccalejk

I got the Force Unleashed for $5 at Target. Not complaining though because I have a choice and that’s not to buy it from the XBL Marketplace. Fancy that.

  • Xlrking

    @mccalejk
Yet some idiot will still buy these, and Microsoft will keep them at their price because of the few people buying these games.
So no, telling them over and over is a good idea.

  • EveofLight

I just bought The Force Unleashed for $7.99 in like new condition, I still can’t believe Microsoft is charging such prices for digital. I will never buy digital cause I cannot trade with my sis for any of her games which in my opinion physical is much better. As long as you know how to take care of your games the the Xbox doesn’t scratch it >.>

  • SilentHunter382

They are very expensive like many people said.

There is only one game that is on the GOD that I would buy and that is beautiful katamari because I can’t find it in the shops but I will still not play €30 for it. I would buy it if they were selling it for €20 on a Deal of the Week.

  • Twisk

Yes, each time a new set of games for Games on Demand come out people complain. I’m here to do the same:

Overpriced, and no where to download them to.

Please, PLEASE give us the ability to connect large external hard drives (like a 2 TB external drive for example). Honestly, if you allowed us to connect huge drives like that – I would more than likely begin purchasing games through Games on Demand and stop purchasing physical media. No, really, I would.

  • I DLord I

    @Chiruno99

And these great benefits of a digital copy are… ?

  • EveofLight

I notice that none of the digital copies come with any of the extras that most of the physical copies have when they are a big hit…tell me why pay those high prices when you can pay the same price for a physical copy with a little something more added to it…O_o

In the famous words of Winnie the Pooh – “Think…think….Microsoft…think”

  • VVho Cares

looks like price gouging and a lawsuit!

  • chiruno99

For one, you’re not getting a pre-owned spooge covred and scratched disc that won’t have a chance to snap in your Xbox,
you can’t lose it all of a sudden and then realise you left it t your friends,
it can go on a USB and you can play it off one,
it will ALWAYS run optimised for max speed,
    saves disc swapping.

The list goes on. Check Steam for prime examples of Digital Distribution.

  • Misaki Ki

^ Or service could decided to go down, and DLC online content lost forever. *looks at the original Xbox Live*

I can assure you, nearly every game from then is in completely working order. The online content? – Long gone if it wasn’t kept on the drive.

    Oh yeah, I also want Phantasy Star Universe. ^.-;

  • I DLord I

    @ Chiruno99

    STEAM? WHAT’S THAT?

Ok, I was not implying there were absolutely no advantages… but a lot of those things could be avoided by
    A. not being oblivious to the fact you are purchasing a totally wrecked disc
    B. Common Sense
    C. Optimized max speed? Optimization of software performance is let’s say… limited on the Xbox
    D. As oppose to running off the disc? (again, not a computer)
    E. Saves disc swapping is an example of yours. I just wanted to point that out man. What are you missing both your legs?

Whether you actually like to hold and touch your stuff aside, the PRICING is what we are talking about and the PRICING is what I see no benefit to.

“You can fit 4 games on a $30 USB drive for $10-15 extra each game! No manuals! No Returns! And in a undetermined amount of time, You won’t be able to access it at all so you better hope that USB drive dosent take a crap or quit like our servers did! Buy Now!”

^ That is the commercial for GoD running through my head. Oh, by the way, you left your USB drive at your friends house. Bummer.

  • I DLord I

^ I called you man when you could very well be a woman.
