Braid, Cloning Clyde and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade prices reduced

We’ve permanently lowered the prices on a few Xbox Arcade games.

Each one has a free demo, why not give ‘em a try?

Braid is now 800 points (was 1200)

Cloning Clyde is now 400 points (was 800)

3 on 3 NHL Arcade is now 400 points (was 800)

@wolfzero01 I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s a new game coming to XBLA on June 16 called Ancients of Ooga by the same developers (NinjaBee and J Kenworthy Entertainment) that made Cloning Clyde (I work at NinjaBee).

We’ve been calling it a ‘spiritual successor’ to Cloning Clyde because it was inspired by Cloning Clyde and has a lot of similar gameplay mechanics. There’s tons of info, pics and videos on IGN.com.

Wow, Cloning Clyde at that price is a steal (one of the few games I have 100% achievements on)

Christ, Cloning Clyde was released in 2006 and it’s taken four years for the price to be reduced. All content that old needs to be made free or put at a bargain basement price, it’s not like anyone’s buying anyway.

I love how people want other people to not get paid for their stuff “hey this should be free”
Of course if you ask them to work for free they’d think you were a maniac.

Asking for everything 4+ years old for free is a little overkill. Discounting older items on a regular basis will provide the game a lot of free publicity to people who might not have had an xbox360 four years ago. The price reduction will also give plenty of incentive for an impulse buy or at the very least download to demo to give it a shot.
Take NINJAGUY01’s comment for example, Ninja Bee is releasing a new game on June 16th, 2010. Cloning Clyde is how old? The whole POINT to most of our complaints about prices on this forum is because this is digital distribution. AKA: ENDLESS SUPPLY OF PRODUCT. The warehouse will not run out stock. The machine shop does not run out of material. After breaking even, they could sell this at a $1 and everyone still makes a profit(extreme example, but you know damn well what I mean).
The overhead to maintain a supply of digital copies of Cloning Clyde games available on XBLA is laughable to a company of Microsoft’s solvency. There is no reason not discount the older XBLA arcade games, especially the craptacular ones! Bionic Commando was what, twenty bucks a month and half after its initial release and MSRP of $60? Sixty to twenty bucks just like that. Mostly because it sucked, but I can think of plenty so-so games on XBLA that were released in 2009 that I would probably buy at a cheaper price. Same goes with the ridiculously expensive avatar marketplace priced for people with money trees.
This could turn into a entire tirade about our responsibilities as consumerists and the profit margins of XBLA titles sold for Microsoft. But I will say that this, right here, this permanent discounting of older XBLA titles is a step in the direction of the wonderful light of supply & demand balance in this here virtual world of the internetz. Oh, and STEAM will be waiting for us there.

And isn’t that another benefit of GoD, when you want a copy there’s ALWAYS one availible.
