Wheres the “Special Armor Effect” (Flames) in the Legendary Edition?

  • Shpeshal Ed

    Can’t wait.

Like all Halo games, will pick up at least 2 editions. Legendary, and I’m deciding between Standard or Limited.

  • Grubish360

Im trying to decide over the standard, or limited edition.

  • Jonah Falcon

Gee, Major, you’re pretty late with this news. Shocking.

  • TheOnicon01

The day the announcement was made of the different packages I went a head and put down for the Legendary Edition. Can’t just pass up a sweet sculpture like that!

Anyone else see HaloWaypoint (via Twitter) post up this morning “September 14″? I was happy.

  • Carg0

before you idiots fall over yourselves to buy the so-called “limited” and “legendary” SKU’s, just remember how MS pulled the same stunt with Halo 3. and, more importantly, how retail stores COULDN’T GIVE those same SKU’s away a few months later even after heavy discounts.

who doesn’t remember seeing boxes of ‘legendary Halo 3′ boxes pilled shoulder high at the local gamestop? lying to yourself won’t cover it up either, lol.

i can promise you, the same thing will happen with Reach. buy or even rent the standard first, then come back a couple months later and see if you’re as eager to blow $400 on the mega-uber package after it’s been discounted to $12.95 because no one else wants them.

you’ll thank me when you’ve got that extra $$$ come Xmas and you’re looking at the ‘legendary Reach’ boxes pilled up with a sign that reads: “Sale”. = )

  • a peeking duck

    So true, Carg0.

  • ForAllTheCows83

How often are games priced at $59.95 in the US?

  • Jaysonguy

Oh yay! Cargo is too cool for retail!

Yeah they might go on sale and they might not and while we wait what are we playing? Can I call up Bungie and say “look this Cargo fellow seems to be really on the ball with his haphazardly way he gets point across and he’s telling me to wait so here’s the deal, you send me a loaner disc that I can play with until your Legendary sets go on sale. Once that happens I’ll return the loaner game and buy it at a reduced price”

Cargo, while I’m sure you have only the best intentions insulting everyone and then predicting the future some people don’t want to wait months until they can play the game. You apparently will so I wont even look for you when it launches because you’ll be camping out waiting for the drop which is complete fun let me tell you. Playing the game versus waiting for it to drop just so I can save a few bucks is a toughie. Maybe if you add a few more insults you could push me off the fence?

I’m happy getting the Legendary from Amazon and 20 bucks back and playing it and enjoying it. You go knock yourself waiting for the drop.

  • mccalejk

They will go on clearance Jaysonguy. Every game Bungie releases, they release 4x as many “limited” editions than people are willing to buy (which isn’t fair to people who buying them on day 1 thinking they are limited). I got Halo 2 Collector’s Edition for $20 and Halo 3′s Legendary edition for $20. How much do you think that $150 Legendary edition costs Bungie? That little statue probably cost $10 at most to make. At least MW2 gave you night vision goggles. Sorry to tell you this but Bungie is just taking advantage of its loyal fanbase.

    But to each their own.

  • Whetzel

I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for this, but am I the only one who is so sick and tired of the whole Halo franchise that I could care less about this announcement?

Needless to say, I won’t be buying either version of this game.

  • XxLightkunxX

Crap. That means I have to pre-order soon. September? That’s the earliest I’ve ever heard a Halo game coming out. Wow. I really hope they aren’t rushing this game out.

  • Ultima22

Already preordered @ my favorite EB.

  • Kroesis

I think I’ll wait until the new year sales and get the regular edition. I have in no way been gripped by this “Halo Mania” but since I have played most of the Halo series I’ll play this.. eventually. Regular edition for me when I do decide to buy it as I really don’t want all the rubbish that comes with the limited and legendary versions.

  • Thiago123

Will be Limited edition for me. I like the Halo Universe too much to pass up on that journal, but no way is that statue worth $70 to me. The Halo 3 Legendary edition’s bonus DVD was nice, but I still regret that cat helmet…

@Jaysonguy – Clearly you don’t remember Halo 3. WalMart.com was selling Legendary Editions last fall through last Christmas at 49.99 with free standard shipping. They were practically giving them away. I bought two of them, one for myself and one for a friend. The same exact thing will happen with Reach. It probably won’t happen until next summer.

Sorry, but as an adult consumer who has to be cognizant of expenditures, I learned a long time ago that these so called “limited edition” pack-ins are never worth the extra amount. Regardless of publisher, they’re just gimmicks with no real purpose designed to separate you from your money. An extra book, or special case, or extra ViDOC DVD for another 20 dollars, and an extra 70 for all of that plus a statue that will end up sitting on your desk collecting dust? Yawn. Add to this the fact that Bungie mass produces their limited and legendary editions to the point of market saturation and you can’t even convince yourself that buying one is an investment down the line.

  • SilentHunter382

I will not be getting halo reach as I am kind of getting bored of FPS.

  • L0ng5h0t

If (Halo 3) history repeats itself, I’ll be buying the standard edition on release day and picking up the legendary edition on Cyber Monday for $40

  • Jaysonguy

    @Captious
You’re aware that Halo 3 launched in 2007 right? So you waited 2 years for the game.
Halo 2 came out in 2004, you waited literally half a decade to keep playing the series. The average lifespan these days is what? 80 these days? So you spent 1/16th of your life just waiting because you might have been able to find it at a better price.
Here’s I’ll do the line like you did so we’ll match

And I’m sorry, as an adult who has gaming as one of their main hobbies I don’t see anything wrong with getting extras. You say that it will just “collect dust”?
    1. Swiffers are awesome
    2. I’m glad you have absolutely nothing decorative in your home.

See, while I’m typing this at my desk I have my Great Mazinger keychain holder to the right of me, Mechagodzilla and Johnny Sokko’s flying robot on the left, Jet Jaguar next to the monitor and my new Splosion Man statue in front of it.
That came from PAX East which I guess you would also consider a needless expenditure of funds because it’s just people making you pay to see the same games that will be in your local stores EVENTUALLY to see for free?

Anything you buy at launch will be more expensive then if you wait, it’s not rocket science.
Games also cost money, alert the press

  • Ark Hunter

I want a spartan statue I can put my cat helmet on in the collectors ed. ;)

  • chiruno99

Give us a date when the servers crash. I’m guessing it’ll be the same day.

  • L31GHS

“Mooooo” here comes comes the mickeysoft/bungie cash cow again :-) $150 for a halo update hahahahahahahaha

  • aStrangeDisease

I’ve already booked the day off work.
Halo is the reason I continue to pay for Xbox Live.
It’s the most exciting thing you can do at home with your clothes on.

  • Alzan27

if I buy the legendary edition will I still get the elite armor

  • I DLord I

Everything listed in the Limited will be included in the Legendary.
