    -
shame if it has,as i have been looking forward to it

  • EndrzGame

Thanks for the heads up Major. Will be d/l’ing asap. Even though I think their a little on the pricey side I’ll still be getting them since MW2 is really the only on-line shooter that me and my friends play.

  • O Nerd Killer O

I just logged in in CA, and no dice yet…. looking forward to the clown map, it looks bannanansnansnanasssas

  • L0rN

Why don`t you advertise the Defence Grid Add on? Didn`t they pay you enough money? Infinity Fail for teh win. Yeah.

  • AK47Autolock

Go to the UK xbox.com to download in the US. http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games/offers/0ccf0002-0000-4000-8000-000041560817?cid=SLink

    It worked for me.

  • LYSTER OF SMEG

Allow me to answer the joy ride question for larry

“We’re excited to bring BigPark’s vision to life in 2010. However, we have nothing further to announce at this time.”

  • LawdaddyCO

    Rip off.

  • metallicorphan

    @Lyster of Smeg
    -
i just presumed they were meant to say that until they announced it officially that it was canned

  • r3dreck

Sold mine a while ago after I found out how much the 1st pack was… no more CODs for me, or Halos, or Gears of War, done with those titles.

  • LYSTER OF SMEG

i know but as the major collects a microsoft pay cheque im sure he cannot say any more

  • LEGENDARY T0AD

some spacial people have had the maps since around 2am I guess those are the chosen.

  • cinco312

I wonder how many kiddies stood home from school to get those maps early.

  • O Nerd Killer O

I went to the UK site located here… http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80241560817/?of=3

it didn’t allow me to DL it from there. I logged in, and out, and still nothing.

To all the haters out there… I agree… these MAP packs ARE way toooo much money, that being said hurry up already so i can buy it :)

    It’s a vicious cycle

  • O Nerd Killer O
  • Z4M0

    Don’t panic. Don’t call support
    .
I don’t mean to offend anyone here but Larry’s quote make me feel sorry for Modern Warfare 2 supporters, like they were crack addicts with separation anxiety. I even know people who asked me for 800 spare points or told me they were selling out their second controller to pay for those maps.
    .
I’m glad they are getting more of what they love (or love to hate) but some people is starting to sound over the top to me.
    .
And now, for something completely different; Defense Grid, the arcade game got an add on for just 80 points, but got no mention arround official news source…

  • Major Nelson

Z4M0, I actually mentioned that TWICE to my 120k Twitter followers yesterday:

    http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/15258283558

    and

    http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/15254921088

  • P00K

Must be nice to have a captive audience the way MW2 does. “I think they’re too expensive but that’s all my friends play so I have to buy the maps so I can play with them”.

I just play spec ops these days – all the cheaters in multiplayer turned me off a long time ago.

  • Radiating Chaos

    So…
    MW2: $60
    1st map pack: $15
    2nd map pack: $15

    90$ down the drain, wow.

  • I chex mix ho I

you guys be sure to tell “the man” hi as you buy these maps.

  • Doh Ray Egon

I love people who come in here only to insult those who do get the map packs…very mature of you. And then of course the people who make it a point to tell people “I sold MW2 weeks ago”…then why are you even bother to comment on or read this blog post since it has no relevance to you anymore?

  • MeS FEAR

IW is just smiling cuz many people are supporting this ridiculous price. I dont understand it…you can love a game but its crazy to pay the half price of the full game only for a few maps…guys wake up.

  • Hidd3n Pr3d4t0r

Got the maps, very pleased only I was up 5 am this morning to get them 15 hours later I got them.

  • MeS FEAR

    @Doh Ray Egon
There are people on the world who cant or doesnt want to pay so much for a few maps. But they would like to own them too. Its very simple…rich guys shouldnt support this kind of pricing!! Give others who doesnt earn so much money a chance to get those maps too! NOT FOR 1200 MSP! If you wouldnt support those pricing then IW wouldnt keep the price so high. And dont tell me to get a job cuz i got one but i never will support this price for some maps! This price is just not fair…thats a fact!

  • Real Xebec

Ridiculous pricing. These maps were done at the same time as the first map pack. They just split them up in order to charge us double the price.

  • Doh Ray Egon

@MeS FEAR: And what do you expect it to be? 800 points? That’s not going to happen. What’s with people thinking they should keep getting more content…but not have to pay more? Also…i’m not going to stop myself from getting the maps…just because others don’t want to pay for them. That’s your problem…and yours alone.

  • metallicorphan

i think people are saying 800 points because that was the norm before Activision had this overhaul of prices(seen here in the UK having RRP for £55)…all COD maps packs if i remember rightly have been 800 points(MW2 map packs being the only ones i have not got)…World at war also gave you more Zombie mode maps as well for your cash
    -
in the end,if you like MW2,play it a lot, then i guess an extra 400 points wont matter, but it does sting a little that half are old maps that are still playable on XBL in the form of MW1

  • AutomaticOcelot

@Radiating, You didn’t buy the $150 Prestige with the goggles? SRLSY dude, some super fan you are. :) It should be at least $180 by now for anyone who loves MW2.
    .
Me, I’ve bought five other games with that money. (One of which is a second-hand MW2 of course. I’m not sure if that person bragged anywhere that they had sold it. Congratulations, I guess?)
    .
@Doh, yes, too bad people can’t also disown their spite. :)

  • Mr Barrel Roll

Nah, learned my lesson with the first map pack. Just not enough content for my money.

  • Wingman1977

As long as people are willing to let themselves get ripped off by buying overpriced content, the developers will continue to charge ridiculous pricing for it. I bet if nobody was buying it, the price would come down so fast. But no, people are so brainwashed. Not to mention they are buying content for a broken multiplayer.

  • Kroesis

I always love reading the comments from people complaining about comments that others are posting about other people. They’re all as bad as the first bunch except for some reason they try to make themselves out to be morally superior or something! Carry on..

  • Doh Ray Egon

@Wingman1977: Sorry…but having a different opinion of something’s value doesn’t make me “brainwashed”.

@Kroesis: I hope you realize the irony of what you just said.

  • ornery owl

$15 isn’t that bad, I guess. Could certainly be much worse. I just sold my old copy of COD4 for $30 to pay for both of these map packs. In the end it’s probably worth it.

  • mccalejk

Radiating Chaos, some of us paid $130 for the Prestige Edition. Imagine how we feel.

  • CARNAGE RULES

You didn’t buy anything silver. Stop acting like you’re apart of this community.

  • Xlrking

Dont have this game, dont need it, and dont ever want this map pack.
    Very good accomplishment for me.

  • I DLord I

    MW2 – $60
    Stimulus Map Pack -$15
    Resurgence Map Pack – $15

Paying 50% of the original games MSRP for a small chunk of new multiplayer maps, priceless.

All whining, booing, hissing and justifying your purchases to total strangers aside,
WHAT ABOUT SPEC OPS? I would gladly shell out some dough for a Foxtrot category of Spec Ops missions.

  • mccalejk

@CARNAGE RULES, not my main account. For the 8th time troll boy.

  • CRUSADEX

    Let’s see,MW2 is up to $100 now?

    I only pay for a game once…..

    LISTEN UP IW and MS……

Won’t buy crap for money….Sell us they whole game up front.

PC games are starting to look better…And you can mod them easily.

  • Wickedfool

Imo, the remakes should be free while the new 3 maps should be 800 points. This game didnt exactly have the smoothest start and think it would have gone a long way in good publicity. Most of MW2 bought CoD4. We have already paid for those maps in 4 and should not have to pay again for them. Also, never should something you have to pay for be called “Stimulus Package”.

It really sucks that so many did buy the maps cause this will soon become the norm. The only lesson they learned was that even overpriced and rehashed DLC will make you a ton of money.

  • JUMP ZER0

not everyone on the site follows you religiously on twitter major(pun intended)

  • CARNAGE RULES

mccalejk, you keep saying it and I’ll won’t believe it until you stop hiding, wuss boy.

@CRUSADEX, they did sell you the whole game up front. The problem is you’re a DLC whore. I don’t know how old you are but, back in the day (before dlc) when you finished a new game that was IT GAME OVER. There wasn’t dlc around to make my game fresh and new and did we cry about it? HELL NO. You’re just one of those D!cks who have been spoiled by DLC. You think they owe you a fresh new game every month or so. Most of guys have the same damn complaint. If they don’t put out DLC, you cry about it. If they do, you cry about it not being on the original disc or it’s too much. How does any company win with you whining little b!tches? Oh, and giving away their product for free isn’t an option so, don’t even say it you cheap poor b@stards.

  • Mr Barrel Roll

‘Carnage Rules’, if this is really how you have to get your entertainment, I might suggest PLAYING your video games instead of ignoring them for time spent trolling.

  • xCHIEFMEGADETHx

    Rip off!!!!
No way…what a way to rob your customers after you made a billions dollars!
Didn’t buy last pack and wont ever buy another pack for them ever again…
We need to rise up and stop them trying to rip us off!
We’re in a recession and they want to do this to us????

  • Tiptoe Turtle

Who cares!!! I didn’t buy the first map pack, not going to buy the second map pack, and I gave my copy of modern warfare 2 away because I do not play it, and haven’t played it for months. lame game.

  • RuairiAU

MW2 was unplayable here in Australia for many months. Every game was 1 red bar. And by the time they got around to fixing the regional matchmaking (which they claimed to have fixed previously), bad company 2 and red dead redemption were soon hitting the shelves. As such, I dont play the game much anymore and I wont be buying the DLC.

  • Hawaiian c

heh hay major i think its still broken its stills says 1200msp… lol j/k love the maps “playing lan with friends” but dont like it on online people tens to abuse the hacks too much in cod i dont mine but not every time i log to a new match. I wish act would have servers to host games ill pay $1 extra a month to act and buy there maps for supporting it “servers” but not with all that stuff going thats only reason i stop playing cod but wish i can play it online with out getting those dam host

  • DarkGin87

1200ms points is a rip off for 3 new maps and 2 ported over without any work done to them.

This was 1 of the reason i didn’t buy the first maps, i still have my copy and would of sold it if i had not bought the harden Edition of this game. Box looks nice though!!

When it comes to Activision i never buy any of there DLC anyway id prefer to hand my wallet to a stranger and walk away.

Anyone who is saying that 1200ms points is a fine price for these maps chances are 80% of them is that the money is coming out of someone Else’s pocket

With this price i could buy better DLC for other games i enjoy or an arcade game

Anyone who support these prices will just encourage all map packs to change to this new price of 1200ms

But to be honest this was not the first game to charge 1200ms for a map pack

GoW2 was the first, sure there was an added scene to the game but that scene was took out in the first place and refuse to pay for DLC that was meant to be ingame from the start just like AC2 DLC packs

  • peachy001

i liked having Crash in there 1st time around, but I would have been happier at 800points. Not getting the new maps, I can’t justify shelling out another £10 on them. Got 4 or 5 games I still need to get through. Also got Red Dead waiting for me at a friend’s house. I’m still annoyed that my spec ed MW super Elite didn’t come with free map packs!

  • chiruno99

Same flames from the first pack. You dumbasses never learn. Constantly crying about DLC you don’t have to buy, or do you like going into electronics shops and pointing at TVs whil cryin, “I’m not paying that much for a TV when I can get a black and white one for half of that, and I only have to pay half the TV liecense, and I’m better off.”

The chances are YOUR MOM OR DAD bought your stuff for you, so you shouldn’t even have the right to cry about prices being high unless it’s coming out of YOUR salry.

  • TG kolz4ever

Always is amusing to read the poor people complaining about some points and use excuses like “oh I don’t play multi player because of the cheaters (which there is, I would never deny that) or “the price is too high” (in other words mommy won’t get me points). Either too poor to get a point card or mommy won’t by you points, but damn stop with the bs excuses. If it’s too much then get an actual damn job instead of playing games all day so it won’t be “too much”. I hate playing with generic bastards when someone invites one to the group because they always hold the whole team back that actually can afford the maps back and stuck playing on the old ones. Seriously, get off the game with all your bs excuses.

  • BrooksterMax

2400 points for all these maps in two packs, no thanks. I thought 800 on WAW was too much.

  • Ai Kago

Lol, what a rip off, greedy gits.

  • Kroesis

    @Doh Ray Egon
That was the entire point, hope you understood it.

  • Z4M0

I hope nobody (@Doh Ray Egon i.e.)took my coment as a comply or as an insult to MW players. It’s just it feels sad to me seeing how people has such an unstopable urge that makes they act mindlessy (flooding support lines, etc.) or coming to forums/blogs to flame (both supporters and haters do).
    .
What is cristal clear is that activision are nowadays kings of controversy in videogames. Can’t believe how even neutrals to MW like chiruno, who hardly linked 3 words together in his/hers very first posts is now openly insulting. Things like that is what I meant I feel sorry for.
    .
Besides, thanks Major for the heads up :) I’m already a follower both of you and xboxsupport (under a slighly different nickname), so thats why I was freaked out about all the buzz (panic I must say) concerning to that given DLC.
    .
Now I only hope to read a single coment reviewing the actual content of that download, not just about pricing or other users’ -insert offending stuff here-
    .
All in all, this release looked like a mess. Cheers :)

  • ShaggyB

@Real Xebec: While i agree the price seems a bit steep…. its not out of line by comparison to halo or gears…. if 3 maps is 800 ($3.33 a map) then 5 should be in the 1200-1400 range…. now as to the quality of the maps or if they are truly worth the $15 price tag ($3 a map)… that i cant say… i own MW2 (can with my new 360) but its still in the wrapper.

  • TH3Hammer

“or do you like going into electronics shops and pointing at TVs whil cryin, ‘I’m not paying that much for a TV when I can get a black and white one for half of that, and I only have to pay half the TV liecense, and I’m better off.’”

Your analogy is flawed. We are saying that we won’t pay 50% more for the same black and white TV we bought before. I’m pretty sure I make more than enough to purchase this map pack, as do many others on here. We just choose not to. Also, you might want to check into anger management.

  • Gonzo345

    Wow, 1200MSP. Bye.

  • chiruno99

When you’re all done crying while holding onto the only points you have while shouting at a Map Pack that won’t talk back, consider calming down for next week when a new Arcade game might be good. If it’s Jet Set Radio though I’d fap until my arm fell off.

  • I DLord I

    So… your a dude? Weird.

Anyway, the price point is too high. I don’t care if your a millionaire or live off welfare, the crap is just too pricey. The point is not how much money you HAVE it is the value you see in what you buy with that money. There are several people posting here who just cannot grasp that concept. $15 for 3 new maps? GO FOR IT. Just don’t be SHOCKED when map packs start coming out at $20 a pop. I won’t be.

Bottom line: It is expensive even if your the Queen of England. You can buy it or not, I don’t care. But don’t come here and act like these maps are priced reasonably, your only lying to yourself. We all pay the same price and we all get the same thing, so it really does not matter how much YOU make. Value vs Cost. Not, I can afford it vs I can’t afford it. I am pretty sure everyone who plays XBL and their mother could find some way to cough up $15 for this, but that is NOT THE POINT.

  • P00K

There was an article over at Kotaku awhile back that quoted Activision’s analysts as saying that they would have sold just as well at $20 instead of $15.
    .
What Activision is doing is testing the waters. They’ll continue to raise prices as high as they can go until people no longer purchase enough to make it viable.
    .
The majority of people that complain about the price pay it anyway. The folks that put down and demean others who say they won’t purchase them, calling them poor or telling them to get a job, are most likely just trying to rationalize their purchase to themselves.

  • mccalejk

@TG kolz4ever, you’re being ignorant. It has nothing to do with being “poor”. Most people value their money. If someone were selling a bottle of water for $5, would you buy it? No, because it’s not worth $5. If you question the price, does it make you poor? Absolutely not. Stop being a douche. People who talk down to people like you’re doing are always the people with issues.

  • Kroesis

    @I DLord I
What gave you the impression that chiruno99 wasn’t a guy?

Anyway the three posts above say it best. I’ve said it before, I don’t care if people cough up the money for this type of stuff, I personally don’t see it as worth it but it doesn’t affect me. However, I’ll not be too impressed if, due to the ‘success’ of sales for these packs, other companies jump on the bandwagon and begin to charge similar amounts for similar content.

  • Velete

Sorry but for the price of both map packs together i could buy a new copy of MW2…

  • Big Boss Z

vous les gars sont hilarantes….. 60 ans pour les DLC ou un autre jeu complet…

  • LawdaddyCO

    Let’s see…this map pack or Worms 2 + Trials HD + 240 extra points…

I’ll definitely spend my money elsewhere.

However, they sure know how to get money out of these maps. I applaud them for it. Capitalism at its best. I won’t buy it…but I also wouldn’t buy it for 800 pts. Most people who would spend the 800 pts have already spent 1200. Smart pricing on their part.

  • Air23Maxx

So they are asking 1/2 the price of the whole game for 2 map packs that only contain 6 new maps and some old maps from COD4? Rip off!!

  • chiruno99

Since when did it matter that I was a guy or not? Seriously you people do like to discuss shit that dosen’t even matter to anyone.

  • Kroesis

That’s right, welcome to the internet.

  • chiruno99

    Completly answers my question.

  • PittDog38

Which developer should to write regarding the map pack prices being outrageous? Do I write IW or Activision? Is MS driving the prices up? How come Treyarch can give you maps AND gametype expansions for 800 MS Points? I hope Treyarch isn’t forced to follow the same model. They’ll loose me too. I already don’t like Activision for how they handled the IW split.

  • Renown Recon

Is our economy not bad? Obviously not if we can all afford to waste $15 a map pack. I think they should be $1.25 a map. So the overall price would be $6.25.

  • CaNiBaL Elite

Haven’t played MW2 since 12/19/2009 the multiplayer was plagued with problems. I can’t beleive they charged 1200 for 5 maps on pack 1 and they are doig it again with map pack 2 with 5 more maps. Before the 360 and the XBL marketplace maps where alot cheaper like a $1.00-$1.50 per map mabey less sometimes, more at other times. But with impluse buyers outnumbering non-impluse buyers they will just keep costing more, and more. BTW check out http://brinkthegame.com/#/videos/freedom_of_movement/

  • I DLord I

Who’s discussing it? Oh, right. Picture and avatar are both female, I was merely surprised the person is male. The weather is nice here, too.

  • Kroesis

    @PittDog38
IW have publicly stated that it was Activision who set the prices. Write away…

  • Localhorst86

With the release of the resurgance pack I hoped the stimulus pack would drop in price so I was willing to buy it… but it’s still 1200 MSP, which I honestly think is a ridiculous price for 5 maps. I can still play the game online without both map packs, but I am currently hooked on blur, anyways. Let’s hope we’ll see a price drop soon…

  • xSloppy

    What a bargain! Thanks Major

  • Hawaiian c

you guys know its not ms or major fault for the pricing right? its up the to devs/ pubs they make the price only thing is ms make them pay a small fee on storage for the addon its good thing we dont pay for that yah it mite be added to the price but at least its not monthly…

so dont give the blunt force drama to major complain to activison thoughs guys email them go on there forums etc or if you want to play dirty find a way to brake them and forcing them to lower the price. yah yah it mite be illegal for them to say but just wish they brake down the pricing so we know what we paying for like how much percent gos where just to make people and my self understand why its so high, yah we get an idea on making full games but addons? some time i do feel a rip off, and now they want to do a vip thing, like what ea doing? thats making feel more rip off and makes me wounder whats over price the full game or addon..

  • a1984darkboy

It’s a shame Activision has to treat fans of their most successful game nothing more than money fountains. Here’s hoping they at least give out a free map. I almost regret trading in MW2 as Carnival does look like loads of fun, but if I ever decide to get it again it will be as special edition with all the DLC intact. Something I bet gets released around the next COD. I’d recommend waiting people.

  • StabaCadaver

Usually I don’t agree with people on this site about pricing. There is absolutely a bunch of cry babies on this site. But I will say after buying the first map pack for 1200 MS points. I won’t be buying the second pack. Not worth it at all. In a nuthsell, if you don’t like the price don’t buy them. You’re not forced to.

  • I DLord I

Don’t get me wrong, I do want the maps. Just not for that price.

  • Av0cad0

Not buying. Not only is it an outrageous price, but they were made before the game’s release and therefore should have been included in the retail version (IMO). This is a terrible approach to DLC. All that these map packs accomplished was to make me vomit in my mouth a little every time that I put the MW2 disc into the xbox, so I’ve pretty much stopped playing. So glad that I spent my money on some of the great XBLA deals instead of these maps.

  • mccalejk

Like I told 402, fix the glitches and ban the massive amount of people hacking, and I might consider buying this.
