200 microsoft points for Sands of Time or Warrior Within? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

That is an awesome offer, no matter which way you look at it.

  • ElektroDragon

Now, when will Xbox 360′s Games on Demand get day and date releases, or as we old school folks call them, zero day releases? I’d love to see Forgotten Sands on 360′s Games on Demand for $29.99 soon.

My biggest issue with GFWL is a lack of backup function, ala Steam. I had to redownload Arkham Asylum three times costing me 21 gigs of bandwidth. I would gladly give my money to MS if they added that function.

Also what happened to a sale on the third game in the series, Two Thrones?

  • BlindFire2112

is there anyway to see what games for windows live are avilable/coming?

  • Grumpy Jedi

Didn’t Forgotten Sands come out a couple of weeks ago? If so, how can you call that day-and-date?

  • Sogeman

The only reason for me to buy games from that service were the Achievements. Releasing old games is kinda useless. There’s Steam for that.

  • QualityJeverage

Grumpy Jedi, this is Games for Windows. The PC version of Forgotten Sands comes out today.

  • SilentHunter382

Why can’t I find both the prince of persia games on the GFW.

  • wiirule111

You cant find these games on GWFL, because its for Americans only it seems.

Americans already have many games on PC-LIVE that isnt in EU store. Atleast EU got 75% off deal on Dark Void last week, and similar price on other games lately. These are all PC games with Achievements.

  • SilentHunter382

Well that sucks. Would have bought both if they had them. :(

  • Hyunkel07

We need to have a better visibility on which games have achievements on GFWL. And when Halo 2 and Gears of War are going to be on GFWL please?

  • KingFudd

Is there any chance of xbox live party support for GFWL? I play on both the xbox and pc, and people send me party invites not realizing the pc doesn’t have the feature. If Major Nelson or someone else addressed this, could you provide a link. Thanks.

  • AutomaticOcelot

@Sogeman: There are a couple of dozen older GFWL titles with achievements that are not yet available through the GFWL store, or the Steam store in the case of Halo 2. (As with most questions, Halo 2 is the correct answer. ;)

    @BlindFire2112

Here’s a link to available titles for GFWL, the only thing they don’t show upcoming games yet.

how bout more achievements like Sogeman said, i only buy Games 4 windows for extra achievements. it sucks when games come out with the G4w logo, look on the back no chivos. or like splinter cell conviction PC no chievos! im sure its prob a developer decision. but wtf, every xbox games has it, y not AT LEAST the NEW pc games?! heck, it be even cooler if we could get achievements on old games! but i bet that would never happen.

The PC world has more options for buying games, so with Steam and Direct2Drive et al we can expect some good deals :) Shame the GoD 360 service has not proved to be good value so far.

  • chiruno99

Who cares about achivements. For 200 Points for Prince of Persia you’d be mad not to get it. I won’t because I am mad, bro.

  • SilentHunter382

So everyone who can’t get them for 200msp is mad.

  • D3NNIS60

Potatoes are pretty dong on good.

  • Spargo CXVII

    Halo CE, Halo 2…..Pls

  • yamayamayaamaa

We need more Games For Windows Live ARCADE games. I loved Where’s Waldo!

  • yamayamayaamaa

We need more Games For Windows Live ARCADE games. I loved Where’s Waldo!

  • yamayamayaamaa

Also, we need to be able to tell which PC games have achievements because they’re all mixed up right now and it’s hard to tell.

  • Lucky 13 X

Been enjoying the 75% off sales. I hope they continue throughout the year more often.

  • chiruno99

Name someone who CAN’T get it then.

  • SilentHunter382

    Every European can’t. :(

  • Exu

    Not available in Europe, huh?

Larger gaming market than you says hi.

  • ZaneXXX

Major, please tell me this means Live isn’t far behind. Some games would be prefect to download right away on the 360 when they come out.

  • moocow21

GFWL is the last place I look for PC games (after STEAM and Amazon.com), but more games on the service is great news. I’m just waiting for Halo 2 and Gears of War to come on there since they’re basically the only PC games I can’t get on STEAM.

  • Blood Hurricane

What I’ve noticed is that only games that say GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE have achievements; the games that just say GAMES FOR WINDOWS do not.

  • Blood Hurricane

Playing both the PC & the 360 version of a game doesn’t always get you double points. Like, Shadowrun PC and Shadowrun 360 count as the same game, but the PC and 360 versions of Fallout do count as separate games.
This applies to the same game from different regions too. Like, Halo 3, no matter if you play the region 1 & the region 2 versions of the game, will only count as 1 game. But Batmann: AA has separate region 1, region 2, PC, and PC Game of The Year Edition achievements.
It’d be great if it said on the box if a game had its own achievement points or if they made a hard rule that each game is 1000 points regardless of what platform or region & will only be counted once.

  • aseddon130

wrong Blood Hurricane, Batman has 5 sets because:

Batman: Arkham Asylum – 360 version
Batman: Arkham Asylum – PC version
Batman: Arkham Asylum – Japanese release (some JAP versions of games are different to normal versions)
Batman: Arkham Asylum Game Of The Year – 360 version
Batman: Arkham Asylum Game Of the Year – PC version

They are classed as seperate games, it has nothing to do with region at all. The only PC/360 games to share achievements are Universe At War and Shadowrun, no other ones do and are classed as seperate games.

This is a bit stupid though, if they went back and added achievements to older games and re-release them on the PC i’d be way into that. Ontop of that the EU/UK don’t even get this ‘great’ deal on GFW-Live, also, why have non-Live titles on Games For Windows – LIVE then??? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose??

I thought they were getting clever with the Dark Void release, i bought it because it had points and to get the Live-Enabled version you could ONLY get it from the GFWL Client, that was a clever move. Doing all this that they are doing now is a bit dumb.

You will never be steam, you can not be as big as steam. They had a good 5 year head start on you.

  • Areseris

The only games that don’t double up on achievements are the ones that have cross platform play. e.g. ShadowRun, Universe at War, Lost Planet (colonies edition only), Game Room… and the soon to be released BlazBlue.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_for_Windows_titles

Only the games checked in the Live column support achievements.

  • Blood Hurricane

    @aseddon130
That’s kinda what I’m getting at (just didn’t word it very well); sometimes they count games from different regions separately and sometimes they don’t. Like, Import Tuner US and Import Tuner JAP count as different games but Ridge Racer 6 counts as 1 game no matter what region.

  • Blood Hurricane

Being a GAMES FOR WINDOWS game just means that it meets MS’s compatibility standards & has parental controls.
    http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/aboutgfw/pages/gamesforwindows.aspx
When it says LIVE that means it takes advantage of LIVE feature like achievements, voice-chat, etc.

  • DarkGin87

They needs to fix most thegames before they start adding new ones, GFWL sucks because most games wont work for people

  • SCS 85

I’m happy Microsoft is taking this direction. Now maybe one day GFWL GOD will be as awesome as Steam.

  • Aliasalpha

Well its a step in the right direction but regional restrictions simply have to go, its bad enough that xbox live has limited availability, restricting things for GFWL to america only is a sure recipe for unhappy people. I’d have been very tempted to buy Warrior Within but since I can’t, I’ll go back to waiting for it to show up on GOG.

The whole GFWL thing needs a major infusion of management and discipline to bring it back to its vision. It’s been severely lacking since day one when there was an apology for neglecting the pc market, a promise to fix things and then several years of nothing. I hope to hell that it can be fixed, I think its an important thing for the industry and has the potential to be some desperately needed competition for steam

  • Lohengriehn

Games for Windows should stay on a plattform called PC. I have first noticed in GameRoom that we were put together with all the PC people when it comes to the highscore lists of a game. Dont feel lucky with this. Keep our XBOX clean and special please.
