Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo Reach console sounds

Last week, I shared the audio that the new Xbox 360 console makes. When the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo Reach console is available next month, it will have custom Halo inspired sounds when you press the power button or the disc eject tray. Even though not that many of you will be pressing the eject button after Sept. 14th, I wanted to give you a preview of what you can expect when you get your new console.

I’ve created two versions of each. One is the MP3 version that should work for most of your needs and the other is an iPhone friendly ring tone* version.

Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo Reach  – power  (.MP3)  (.M4R[iPhone ringtone format]

Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo Reach  – tray     (.MP3)  (.M4R[iPhone ringtone format]

*Sorry, the iPhone won’t allow you to customize your SMS alerts. Feel free to make a feature request though

Halo, Xbox 360 By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Dravis

    Awesome! Thanks.

  • Junior2377

you can change your SMS sounds on the iPhone if you have it jailbroken :)

  • RagdollHero

Is that correct? Sounds like they should have been the other way round.

  • Phil Collins117

Sounds don’t seem right, sure those aren’t supposed to be reversed???

  • AriesDog

I agree with Phil Collins117. The sounds seem reversed.

  • Jase D Dakota

Kinda wish Xbox live would start selling sounds for the new Xbox. I’d not mind paying some MS points for the Halo sounds.

  • Cr4zyM3x1cAn

As do I, agree with the rest of you.

  • A Place for Us

I wonder if Microsoft are planning in the future to allow the sounds to be changed (assuming this is part of the firmware)? Would be pretty cool.

  • GhStRdR2k

That is so true, and easy to do as well.

  • Major Nelson

Nope…they are in the right order. At least that’s what I was told. When I get my hands on a box, I’ll confirm!

  • Mike Kelehan

I hope this is saved in the system’s memory, because external system sounds would be extremely cool DLC.

  • MartinScott

Deal of the week. Same as last week – rubbish!!!!

  • wolfzero01

I like those sounds better that the ones on the new 360, & as others have pointed out they do seem reversed

  • Surly x Duff

    These are great, thanks Major!

  • DarkSpartan017

    Thanks Major

  • DarkSpartan017

I would have to agree with what the others have said though the sounds should be reversed it’s a small thing but it makes sense and the DLC idea with the sounds would be cool too.

  • NeoVampyre

Damm kinda jealous now, they are definately more extensive than the sounds that came with my new ‘slim’ model. But I kinda enjoy my family’s joke of me having “The Machine That Goes Ping!”.

  • VivaLaJam26

    So glad I pre-ordered it

Although can the sounds be swapped around? the Tray one really does sound like it should be the power button.

  • DaMENACElo37

Thanks again for the sounds Major Nelson!! Much appreciated!!

  • Moon Vydeo

    Thank you sir.
And I have to agree with the others, they sound backwards. What you have for tray should be power and vice versa. Is is possible to reassign the sound ourselves on the new Xbox?

  • nzkiwiwhiteboy

I hope they can put custom sounds on via XBL.Any chance of that happening?

  • mccalejk

So when are we going to be able to purchase new console sounds from the Marketplace? You know that is what’s coming!

  • Heinrich

They need to reverse those sounds before mass-producing! Call the Chinese dudes! Quick! Stop the presses!!

  • Champipple D

Awesome! Mine just sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

  • UNSCleric

I’ve thought for many weeks that the sounds seemed backwards (and the Power sound alone is dumb). Good thing I already bought an Xbox 360 S and will never purchase this. I’m about 1/20 as excited for Reach as I was Halo 3 anyway.

  • Pappy 247

Now I want a Gears of War console that has audio of Marcus saying “niiiice” or Tai saying “we eat tonight!” when powered on…lol

Even as a Halo fan I have to say I’m not impressed with the Reach console sounds.

  • chiruno99

That eject noise would get on my nerves after the 3rd time. Good reason not to shell out for it, well that and I hate Halo.

  • Adexus

I hope they’re the other way around, I’ve still got mine pre-ordered though.
