Free DLC? Awesome. Can’t wait to try this out. This is is basically a free game so I don’t really have any other choice than to pick it up. Need more storage though.

  • JoeCool314

Yeah this is one I was curious about trying!!

  • Exu

To be honest I thought the game should have been delayed until the online co-op was ready as opposed to rushing it out, however the first and free DLC does go toward making up for that.

However I’m not too sure about the time limit on it but yeah okay. I’ll give this a whirl later, heard good things.

  • MartyPG13

Played and completed this yesterday, superb game, certainly the shining gem of Summer of Arcade.
    |
It has that Tomb Raider vibe to the whole thing and actually, the revisioning in 3D isometric has given a new and fresh feel to things. You can finish it in 5 hours odd, but there’s good replayability there. Pity about the lack of online co-op at launch tho – just hope people are still playing this when it patches :/

    Big thumbs up from me.

  • rob18

Today’s my birthday; how about a free copy? Hehe. :D

  • Grubish360

I can’t wait to try this out. However I wish that purchasing stuff from the Marketplace on xbox.com was a much more fluid experience. It seems like you have to jump through a lot of hoops just to get anything done on that marketplace. Does anyone know what I’m trying to get at??

  • loopingstar

Just a word of caution not to get too excited ……… I bet the ‘free DLC’ is just the multi player modes of the game – stuff that should have been included at the start anyway !!!

  • JoeCool314

So to any who have played it……….Is it worth the 1200msp?!? Or wait for it on the DOTW? which prob wont be until forever.

  • a peeking duck

    loopingstar: wrong. Stop spreading FUD.

  • A Place for Us

If you’re worried about this time limit, just download it anyway whilst it’s free.

This sure is one big arcade title at 2 GB.

  • SekondaHuet

I’ve never been fond of Arcade titles, I really should apparently a lot of the games are decent, Limbo in particular is getting incredible ratings.

  • weakwill

tomb raider was an good game most times.
i buy them.for my third sommer game.
    question.:
how long runs the points return for sommer special?
can be to buy the other 2 games for 1200 points back.

  • captpluto9465

Grubish360, do you mean how you have to click through so many things just to add a game to your queue? I get irked at that too. I’m using Safari and Firefox and sometimes that pop-op window doesn’t come up, or I’ll click “Add to Queue” and nothing will happen, so I have to double-click. It would be nice if the login boxes were right on the Marketplace page and if they could do away with that pop-up window nonsense.

I’ll probably be buying this up later after playing the demo. I need a good summer Arcade game like last year’s Shadow Complex. The other ones this summer didn’t do it for me, especially Castlevania Not-HD.

  • Jonners117

@weakwill. I think you have until the 31st August to get the summer of arcade offer.

  • T 1 N G O

@dirty whirlwind & a peeking duck, it doesn’t matter if it’s for multiplayer or not.But the DLC, it’s not FREE, it’s just for the first 30 days,so after the 30 days you have to buy IT.And by the way this game is incomplete, not as advertised. As EXU said, this game should’ve been delayed.I’m going to download the trial just to play it a bit, because I know it is a good game.Since I don’t have a twitter account and I couldn’t participate for the free code and of course Major Nelson isn’t going to send me a free code.I’m going to wait fot the PS3 version, and buy it there or get it for half the price.I need to evaluate XBL vs PSN+, because I’m not paying for both.I don’t care for friends, I can make new ones, all I care is gaming.Me,myself and I.

  • Supreme Entity

Jesus Christ! 2.02 GB??!! This is one huge “Arcade” game! This is waaaaay over the limit (or did MS finally remove that limit?) and is this the biggest one so far?

  • rob18

    @Supreme Entity
Yeah, in Major’s most recent podcast, one of the developers discussed how they really wanted to go all out and take advantage of the limit. Personally, I’d say it’s a bit much.

  • Blue Thunder28

This game is pretty good, though I prefer the third person titles over what I played in the trial of this. It’s still decent though. My points are saved for ME2 DLC and Scott Pilgrim lols

  • dirty whirlwind

TINGO: I’m pretty sure that they mean that the DLC will be free to download for the first 30 days, and if you’re not grabb it in the first month you have to pay for it. And for everything else you’re going on about, I have no fucking clue what you’re talking about.

  • e

@SekondaHuet – they all have a free trial, so download a few and give them a try! There really are some great ones…

  • TANK 2old2play

1200 points and no Live Co-Op @ Launch? Fail. Guess i’ll consider buying it late September when it works the way it was advertised but by then i’ll probably be knee deep in Halo Reach and not interested anymore.

  • chiruno99

Coming Soon is not soon enough

  • a peeking duck

T 1 N G O: more FUD. It’ll be free to download for anybody for 30 days, after which you can only get it with points. Plenty of content has been released like that. Here’s an article regarding the free DLC: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/17/first-lara-croft-dlc-pack-free-for-first-30-days-on-xbox-360/

And the DLC will probably be more levels. As Crystal Dynamics have explained: ‘The first three packs are straight-up expansions, meaning fresh puzzles and “new areas” to visit. The latter two are “playable character packs” which will let you swap out Lara and Totec throughout the entire campaign for “some other well-known videogame characters.”‘ Source: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/06/lara-croft-and-the-guardian-of-light-plunders-ps3-steam-on-sep/

So less of the idiotic FUD, please.

  • Blue Thunder28

@SekondaHuet I think if you look through all the Highest Rated arcade titles you may possibly enjoy the majority of them. Especially titles like Castle Crashers. They all have free trials too :P

  • oO MG81 Oo

10/10 game for me! It looks and plays amazing. I’m a big Tomb Raider fan and was a little dubious about this game when I first saw the screenshots and gameplay vids etc. After playing it I’m happy it’s nothing like I expected. Great game :) . Although, I wish they’d release a hard copy to buy in stores. I don’t like download only games. I prefer to buy physical copies of the titles I really enjoy and add them to my collection.

  • Fletch955

It looks like I’ll have to wait for the PS3 release of this game, as my 360′s 20gb HD doesn’t have space for this.

  • wiirule111

This game was surprisingly good, and i easily payed 1200 points for this. This game is also 2.GB big, and the only other LIVE game that was this big was “Red Alert”. It only have 2 awards, and you need to complete game to get both.

This is the 2nd 2.GB on Live, and its starting to suck HD space.. hehe

Lara Croft and Hydro Thunder is clearly the 2 best, with Monday Night as #3.

  • KRiSX85

fantastic game IMO… happy to have it early without all the MP/co-op… plays exactly like i was hoping… bought it straight away :D

now i need to decide if i’m gonna get limbo and monday night combat… didn’t like castlevania… would rather get 100 points off the 4 games i like than get castlevania for free… lol

  • dcowboysfan

Do guys really buy the story “We needed more time in complete the on-line co-op”? I really don’t think it’s a coincidence that it will be ready when the other platforms get the game. Sounds like to get the game in “summer of arcade” Microsoft had to give up live initially.

  • AutomaticOcelot

Funniest thing I’ve heard all week: Karl Stewart saying this game was “built with co-op at heart”.
So much so, in fact, that they have to patch it in after release.
Loan me Stepto’s waders and shovel to dig myself out of this irony. ;)

  • AutomaticOcelot

But seriously, I definitely respect a solid attempt at local co-op. Not many games are trying hard at that anymore. And SoA is a hard deadline, so as someone that doesn’t mind delays for polish, I hope it does them good to have more time.

  • sleepydumbdude

I didn’t purchase any of the summer of arcades because I had other stuff to play. I finally caught up on my games so either going to purchase Tomb Raider or Deathspank tonight. Not sure which one.

  • tananset360

1200msp is too chear for this game.

    it’s totally worth all buck!!!

  • cinco312

I’m dl the trial now, but this looks like an instant buy for me. Plus free DLC is always a good thing. I could careless about co-op, I play games as they’re meant to be played, alone. For $15 and six hours of gameplay, it’s longer than most retail games.

  • chiruno99

I think it’s the best of the Summer Promotion, better than Monday Night Combat and that was awesome. Even if we have to wait for online co-op it’s still good enough, and it’s not just +1 player co-op either since the other player is significantly different.
To put it simply, buy this instead of Battlefield 1943.

  • The Dukenator

@Fletch955 You could use a USB thumb drive with 360 or get a 60GB HDD.

  • Ai Kago

This is really nice, up there with Limbo for quality. I think i’ll wait to buy it though as I want co-op online.

  • wiirule111

If you explore the levels for collecting items, it lasts over 10 hours!

If you speedrun it, you miss out alot of upgrades, relics etc.

  • DTSRakdos Blade

Definitely not the biggest Tomb Raider fan here… but may give it a shot… just don’t like the 1200M$P cost for all these newer games now… Already forked over 2400 for Castlevania + Limbo…

  • wiirule111

Buy Tomb Raider for 1200, and get 400 points back for it. I will cost you 800 points then.

But its worth more than Castlevania and Limbo.

  • MACPH1ST0

This game is definitely worth 1200 points and IMO the best game of the Summer of Arcade promotion. It’s very well-made and has a lot of replay value since there are a ton of challenges and objectives that you can replay levels to get. It’s a real shame that it doesn’t have online co-op from day 1, but it’s still well worth it even without it. The online co-op will just be the icing on the cake once the patch comes next month. The free DLC for 360 buyers is also a pretty nice bonus too!

  • DTSRakdos Blade

    @wiirule111
Personally, It’s not better than Castlevania (I’m a huge castlevania fan).

But decided not to buy it, definitely not for me, even if I get a refund of 400M$P, it wouldn’t be worth it to me.

  • Kinectamaniac

Where is YuGiOh 5D’s Decade Duels? I tired of not getting an answer…so I will continue to post over and over until I get an answer.

  • skullivan

The demo was fantastic, I was extremely impressed by the fluidity of movement and how everything works exactly as you’d expect it to. I want to play co-op the first time through though so I’ll wait until the holiday price drop to pick it up. By that time the expansion pack should be out too…

  • cinco312

Purchased it last night and I friggin love it. Last years Shadow Complex in terms of quality and great gameplay.

  • TANK 2old2play

I went and bought TR Underworld instead for 9.99 to get a full TR experience and a full 1000 gs out of it .

  • RuairiAU

This is just an outright great game.
