Podcast By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • NoBullet78

Im surprised this podcast is free. You feeling ok Microsoft?

  • Grubish360

    @NoBullet78 lol, what???

Anyways thanks for posting this Major!

  • exception360

Is there also a video? Would love to see it ;)

  • I2ndShenanigans

    video would be nice

  • penguin1992

    XD Lol, nice NoBullet78

  • r3dreck

It’s questionable if MN actually plays games at this point with that gamer score… I barely have time to play and don’t get my games or DLC for free.

  • Major Nelson

@r2dreck What? I play all my games. I finished Mafia II just last night.

  • ElektroDragon

Thanks Major! I could not attend this while at PAX, so I really appreciate the audio!

  • ElektroDragon

r3dneck, that is a silly thing to say. I have a full time job and a wife and have been playing the 360 since launch, and have a library of almost 300 games for the 360 between XBLA and retail. Yet my score is only 10K above Major’s, who is a LOT busier than I and has to TRAVEL ALL THE TIME. Seriously man, that was uncalled for and not well thought out.

  • ElektroDragon

    Sorry, I meant r3dreck, LOL!

  • Jaysonguy

Wait, now people are saying that Major Nelson doesn’t play the games? lol
Ok he’s had his 360 since 2005 and his gamerscore is at 45557 which means that each year he’s averaged under 9200 gamerscore a year.
Between retail and arcade games that’s well within a range that most people could get (with all due respect to Major Nelson’s ability as a gamer and yes that’s a very good gamerscore and this is not a pro or con against him as a gamer I’m simply pointing out that the poster’s claim is like throwing a frisbee for your dog from Cali to New York……..Far Fetched!)
Oh geez I crack myself up lol

  • Spargo CXVII

Xbox Live Enforcement Show is pure Entertainment. Thanks you so much!

  • rob18

Hey, Major, do you think you could get a hold of the various videos the team showed? Thanks!

  • r3dreck

Free games+free DLC+working at XBL+free time=100k+ in my book ha… got a couple buddies who have nothing better to do with their cash and time and have over or close to 100k. Heck I’m almost at 73k with 2 kids and more broke than anyone you’d know. Just laughing at MN expense ha…

  • a peeking duck

    Post the videos and powerpoints.

  • CrazyCake

@Major Nelson Hey, i am looking to join MS after CSM and FullSail days and would like to know if there is anything i need to do to prepare for making sure i can work at MS before i go to the building itself like if there are certain requirements i need, and how can i get to work in the enforcement team areas?

  • Nigel Vertigo

Yeah I’d really like to see the video’s and powerpoint too!

  • StigSmash

I have just started listening to the podcast now. The videos would be great to see they sound very funny.

  • L0rN

That was simply a great show. Very funny and entertaining. Thanks Stepto.

  • Pleese Shoot Me

Post the videos you were showing the crowd.

  • TragicShaun

R3dreck has a very good point actually. If you look at all the Xbox Team’s gamerscores, you would be shocked. Granted, Major does have a “decent” gamerscore, but if I had people dropping games on my desk for free, then I would have passed Major’s gamerscore the first year. I think its safe to say “most” of us have jobs. Hell, I’m married with two kids. I getting nothing that I haven’t earned and still have almost double Major’s score. It makes me think maybe I have more experience using an Xbox 360. In fact, I wish there was a way to tell how many hours I have clocked on my Xbox. Not trying to be disrespectful, but I wish someone would send me these free games the Xbox Team always gets. I would make the most out of it!

  • ageha stg

yes video! but please on the web, not insidexbox
because in germany we don’t even have insidexbox or anything else

  • CrazyRonIsHere

What is with all this making fun of Major Nelson’s gamerscore? Are you mad that he has other things to do with his life? He works long hours and doesn’t have the time to get every achievement in every game like some other people do. Someone else already graciously pointed out that he averages 9200 gamerscore a year. If you do not go all out for achievements, his gamerscore per year sounds about right. Major Nelson is actually a perfect representative of your average xbox 360 gamer which makes him a perfect representative for the whole community. Your average gamer has a job and plays his/her 360 as a hobby for fun in their free time. When you don’t have as much free time, your gamerscore suffers. I’m sure Major Nelson would agree with me that he would rather have a life than have a higher gamerscore.

  • Mushroom Jones

I’d love to see the videos of these! Sounds pretty funny.

  • Leoplureodon

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d love to see the powerpoint presentations!

  • JaDW

RE: Gamerscore, I got my console during Zero Hour, have two jobs, got married four years ago and welcomed to the family a son a year ago. I started 2010 with 69 K, it gets harder to find enough time to feed the gamerscore, but I still manage, if I could get most of Fallout 3′s, including DLC, it means it isn’t THAT hard yet. I also have to say that gaming is in my job description, so sometimes I feel I should have more, but my free time and my family just don’t agree with that.

  • Cerfer

It’s been fixed again, but the first line revision of Wikipedia was pretty funny last night: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vulcan_%28mythology%29&oldid=383360151

  • Joecr

As many others have requested can we please see the videos & power point slide show. Also in the future would it be possible to have video from these sort of events added to the podcast. I realize the last one would take a lot of work to do in the future.

  • JorisTheWise

I fear i am like the rest, could perhaps the videos be posted as well? :)
Very interesting podcast again btw, learned again a lot.

  • chiruno99

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for addressing this ones and for all! I am VERY VERY GRATE FULL that you are now showing that you’re giving the toss that many are seeing the illusion of this effect. This will now iron out the many myths of the Complaints System and may ones and for all, allowing my faith to return into the game of playing.

  • chiruno99

And soon the Vulcan Toolset will be MINE! MUHAHAHAHAH!

  • Boe2

This was really awesome to hear actually, makes me feel sad that the closest thing we have to PAX in Europe is Gamescom, which is more of a trading event (ok, Nintendo provides giant beanbags for our DS gaming needs which is awesome when you are visiting other Dragon Quest 9 worlds), so no panels, no give-aways (I only saw MS give away a few AoE:Online t-shirts and I even failed to get one of those), no drunk gaming :(

  • TragicShaun

@CrazyRonIsHere… You don’t read very well do you? I believe I stated that “most” people do have jobs and I stated that I’m married with two kids. We do all sorts of things together, including XBL. I am also a nurse, so I don’t think even Major works those kind of hours. Since you have no clue who I am, I’ll just chalk it up to the fact that you don’t draw conclusions very well. You also got the fact that Major is an “average Xbox 360 gamer” wrong. He is NOT an average gamer and I’m sure you can tell by the vids. and all the free swag he gets. Since he works for Xbox, I think we can agree that he should be playing more than average. If you don’t have free time then you really need to reorganize your life. So, CrazyRonIsHere, nice try but… bzzzz wrong!

  • chiruno99

You can’t judge a person by their gamerscore derp.

  • mattcooper

This audio sounded GREAT but seriously needs a video! Did anyone film it! Blurry/Shakey cam, anything?

    Matt

  • b trumpet

Or even better, can Stepto or someone post the raw videos themselves onto YouTube or Viddler or something? I really want to watch them.

  • CrazyDaze

Video please! Was funny to listen to but would be even funnier with the actual video.

  • SilentCodeRed

I would also love to have seen the Videos and power point that was shown. Also, Thank you for posting the show.
