This means ENDING on the 13th, right? It must.

  • LastHour1

Really? Modded Warfail 2 is still number one? After Reach is released? I’m calling BS.

  • CrazyCake

haha, i knew it wouldn’t get to number one just yet! but halo reach is better than Modern Warfare 2

  • Major Nelson

Now remember, REACH was only out for a portion of this reporting period. Let’s see what happens next week

  • bknight2k

Wow, everyone is playing Reach on my friends list.
    This is a suprise

  • Mcmax3000

wow… just wow… not even number two.
I also find it interesting that none of last week’s Arcade games are in the XBLA list.

  • trickybuz93

Not bad considering this is the week ENDING sept. 13th and Reach came out on the 14th!

  • Queasy1

Is this the week ending September 13th or the week starting September 13th?

  • Chicken Wyng

I was surprised at first to and then I remembered the dates that were used. Were there that many people that had this early to place it 3rd?

  • Mcmax3000

September 13th is a Monday. I’m not aware of any place in the world in which Monday is the end of a week.

I was gonna smash my monitor in pure rage until I saw Major’s comment. Reach better surpass MW2 or my monitor won’t be so happy in a week. Neither will I. Lol.

  • GameOnJohn

This is the week OF September 13th not ending on the 13th. It is not surprising that its not #1 yet. There are a lot more copies of MW2 and Halo 3 out there.

  • Ark Hunter

    Maybe next week Halo

  • Shawcross

I got a feeling that MW2 is finally going to fall to Reach next week. Also I think the reason the week ends on a Monday is cause new games come out on Tuesdays for people that didn’t know.

I can’t believe the lack of brain cells in here.

  • NEW P4TH

Its cool, Reach will win it next week.

  • nint3ndofr34k

    Gears 2 still at #9 wooooo!!! :)

  • CrazyCake

@Major Nelson Hey, i hope to work at MS, and would like to know are they any requirements i need to do? I am going to a community college for now, but may do fullsail or a college in Seattle thanks :)

  • Quicksilver4648

Alright, this list seems VERY broken. Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand Halo: Reach just released and there are more copies of MW2 and Halo 3 in the wild, the it just doesn’t add up. According to Bungie, there were more people online playing Reach at the same time then ever in Halo 3’s peak time. Not only that, but the vast majority of people that might have been playing Halo 3 around the 13th probably transferred to Reach of the day it released. Every single person on my friend’s list has been playing Reach for the majority of the day during the past week. If Reach doesn’t take #1 next week then I am seriously lost at how these rankings are formed.

The top 5 games are the Halo’s and the Call of Duty’s, that’s too funny!!

  • DarkGin87

@ Major – it may be best to explain how the list goes because most the comments today will be “”wow REACH isn’t number one”

    i predict for next week 1) halo REACH 2)MW2 3) halo 3

  • Anonymous

    Reach is currently #1 played.

  • metallicorphan

Major-what’s that second game on your gamercard?,it has a 360 console in the gamertile, and when you hover over it it just says ‘???’…is it the new dash preview?,will we be getting that as well when we are in the preview?

People also need to remember that, like it says at the bottom of the lists, the Top Live Titles list is based on unique users, NOT time played. So by the time we get to the next list released, you’ll have a full week’s worth of unique users and Reach will most likely be #1 then.

  • chiruno99

Well would you adam and eve…oh never mind.

  • dirty whirlwind

metallicorphan: It’s a kinect beta thing.

  • Bellsten

WoW BFBC2 at #12,the game needs some new maps to get back in top 10

  • IRB

Gears 2 is certainly doing well being in the top 10, Epic are doing a good job with all the XP bonus events to keep it in peoples disc trays.

I would also agree that REACH is no doubt going to be #1 next week.

  • Uzumaki15

Well considering reach had 600,000 online pretty consistently I’d say it’ll be number one this week.

  • X PeCH

    next week:
    1.reach(whats that?)
    3.halo 3

    in 2 weeks:

    6. dead rising 2

  • Hellhog

Remember to those surprised, this list is unique users. If 100 people jump on Halo 3, Halo Reach, and MW2, but 5 people only jump on MW2, that means 105 people played MW2, 100 people played Halo 3, 100 people played Halo Reach. Essentially, if you played all those 3, you didn’t change their rankings. Reach released on Tuesday, this list starts monday. Many people were probably playing Halo 3 and MW2 in preparation for Reach, got Reach on Tuesday and possibly only played that the rest of the week, while other people playing Halo 3 and MW2 may not have picked up Reach or won’t. I would be surprised if Reach never takes over Halo 3 eventually, but this chart actually makes a lot of logical sense.

  • nawlins08

guys, this list is up to september 13th, that means Reach got the 3 spot without being released, from all the ppl who got codes early, or the game early illegally, if you checked, there were like 50k+ ppl playing Reach before it came out. Reach will take the top spot and hold it for some time come next week, the number of ppl playing at one time has breahced 800k+ approaching 900k as more ppl buy it, the holidays will boost its numbers even more, blk ops may hinder it from breaking 1 mil, but i doubt it will take the top spot.

It will be #1 next week, even though I think it brings nothing new to the table. How long it stays there is questionable. No matter the simple truth is in November Black ops will take the top spot. It’s been fun to watch the halo’s and call of duty’s flip flop for the top spot for so long.Is it true there want be another Halo?

@nawlins08: “Here is a look at LIVE activity for the LAST week:” (NOT 2 weeks ago)

Halo Reach came out on the 14th…. the people who made Reach get to 3rd got their copy of Reach early or illegally… so next week is the real results of what Reach will do LOL

^^^^ says release date is on 14th

  • HT UK

This is the list for September 13th – September 19th. Don’t know why people think it’s week ending 13th?

I’m surprised Halo Reach isn’t top, it was out on Tuesday worldwide, so doesn’t really have much of an excuse.

“LIVE Activity for week of Sept 13″ Key operating word in that sentence is “OF”. That translates into 9/12/2010 through 9/18/2010. If Reach was number 1, most of you wouldn’t be scrutinizing the date ranges. Unless Major Nelson says the line I quoted was incorrect, this encompassed the entire week of Reach’s release.

Number 3 isn’t bad. The game is selling well, people are liking it. Be happy about that.

  • NorthernEmperor

Are you sure this list is for the 13th, not say the 6th; it just doesn’t make any sense. halo reach beat halo 3s’all time concurrent users for day one but still came 3rd?? if you look @ Halo Reach averaged 2.2 million players every 24hrs since release, so if not 1st maybe 2nd behind MW2, but not 3rd behind halo 3.

Major, you should use the week ending format like every other corporation does. “LIVE Activity for the week ending Sept 18″ That way 3/4 of the comments every week won’t be “WHAT” “HUH” “I DONT GET IT” “THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE”

  • MrHaru

Random, but I need to get this through somehow; the Sonic 4 section in XBL Marketplace is severely behind on the updates. It doesn’t have either of the newest trailers up for download, and I would love to show some of my friends how that game is turning out on my TV instead of the computer screen.

That and the picture viewer locks up every time I try looking at the new pics.

Woa, looks like Dead Rising: Case Zero sold pretty well!

  • I chex mix ho I

everyone can calm down because although this chart was from september 13-19, there was some sort of error. according to a post on bungie’s site (source: they said:
While we’re not privy to the methodologies and data used to compile the Xbox LIVE Activity reports published to Major Nelson’s blog this morning, we do know that last week’s numbers were well off the mark due to what’s now being called a “manual reporting error.”
i’m not really sure why major nelson didn’t admit this but that is what occured. they then go on to talk about how halo reach actually did:
Ultimately, Halo: Reach’s online population for the first week dwarfed Halo 3’s by comparison, snagging four times the number of total unique users and decimating Halo 3’s all time high of concurrent users by more than 65%.
so yeah, i think its safe to say halo reach is SUPPOSED to be number 1 on that list.

  • Major Nelson

I just made a post about the error:

Closing comments here..take the conversation to that post.

    thx all.
