Game Add-on, Xbox 360 Games On Demand By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • rogXue

knew you guys were afraid to list the price all last week… $30? You are effectively killing your games on demand service… I’ll stick with the hard copy I paid $15 for.

  • Muzzymate

@rogXue – at least it’s priced the same as the physical media (in comparison to Walmart for a new copy).
Batman: Arkham Asylum is actually priced more on GoD than in Walmart ($30 at Walmart new vs $40 on Games on Demand). A quick search reveals that there was not a post on Major Nelson’s blog when Batman: Arkham was placed on GoD.
Now that is a true crime!

  • moocow21

$30 is a bit pricey considering you can get the retail GOTY edition for the same price brand new. But if you already own the game, $5 for the 19 maps is well worth it.

  • Macdory

hehe – Boomerang Games are selling this for £4.99 – does anyone actually buy at these stupid prices MS want to charge?

  • Kinectamaniac

I just called my local EBgames…$16.99…so no thank you Games on Demand.

  • The Bill Payer

I’m just happy that it’s priced the same as the retail chains, I already own all the maps so it wasn’t to bad.

  • Wils35

Its a complete rip off. Can buy this game for half the price in shops. Every single game on the GoD service is a rip off. Batman Arkham Asylum God £30, ASDA (Walmart) £15. If anything it should be cheaper on GoD as they havent got to supply the case, printed instruction manual and the disc and pay for the machinery to burn the game to disc and also whats the resale value on the GoD Batman? £0. At least when i have completed Batman i can trade it in at the game shop or sell it to a friend.

If every person paid the rip off price and bought the game of the demand service then before we know it we can only buy the game of demand and HAVE to pay there stupid prices, but thats what they want so then me or you when we have finished the game cant sell it on to a friend which in theory stops them buying another new copy which is £ out of there pockets.

Don’t be fooled by games on demand. If batman is £15 in shop and £10 of demand i would still buy it from shop purely based on when i have finished the game my friend will buy it of me for £7.50 so i have owned and completed Batman for £7.50

  • metallicorphan

if i was to pay 20 notes for this i would of liked it to at least be the GOTY edition…you need to seriously look into these prices for Games on Demand…but hey,if you don’t listen to nearly everybody else on here every time a new game goes up on Games On Demand, why would you listen to me?

  • Wingman1977

Games on demand is a good example why digital downloads can (and has) failed. The pricing is ridiculous. The games on there being the same price (or more) than the retail disc version (a perfect example is Star Wars: The force unleashed the bare bones version whereas Best Buy has it for $19.99 and Games on Demand has it for $29.99). I’m not going to get into the whole having a physical copy to trade in because that’s pointless.

MS really needs to look at how Steam does it (which is why it’s been so successful). DD versions need to be cheaper than the retail versions (no middle man, no packaging,). So the savings should be passed on the consumer. As long as the Games on Demand continues with it’s current structure, it will continue to fail. Sorry for the long rant folks.

  • Gonzo345

You can buy it for that price and GOTY (with all map packs). Incredible Microsoft.

  • Z4M0

Maybe its ok to get all the add-ons for 400 msp but still, I think i’d just play the campaing extras, not fond on the multiplayer aspect of that game.

Cant wait. BTW the xbox site is broken. when i click sign in it take me to a windows live id thing and it wont accept my email address

  • The Real Napsta

Can we have Halo CE HD with online play please?

  • Quandoz

Availability: Not available in Japan …

    … and Germany…

  • chiruno99

Who dosen’t have this on disc is the question I want to ask.

  • Ganon255

Off Topic – What is up with Castlevania HD Music Pack Add-on. I am unable to download it and Live keeps saying an error occured. I can download other things just fine.

  • Exu

£19.99? Lol, you can get the GOTY for like £12.

  • I chex mix ho I

doesn’t microsoft just make the price of every game added to games on demand the msrp? that would make sense because you are buying it directly from microsoft. now don’t get me wrong here, i agree that the prices are ridiculously high but i think that’s why.

  • Bellsten

I can get the GOTY edition over hear for 5 euro

  • DrDaveWatford

I’d be very interested to see the sales figures for these Games on Demand; I have to agree with others on here that it’s hard to see anyone paying $30 for this or any other older game when they can pick it up new on disc at retail or on eBay for a lot less. Is anyone actually buying these games via download ?

  • SeeUInTheFuture

Oh lord GOD is awful! What a failure of a service.

  • Anonymous

I buy games off of Games On Demand. i got halo 3 and COD 4 that way. i am going to get COD 5 soon of GOD. i buy these games of GOD so my parents dont know i have them

  • Blue Thunder28

You’d think their big time exclusives would get extra awesome Games on Demand treatment.

  • mag sithlord008

I paid 800Ms points for the the All Fronts Collection 2 months ago. I wish I would have waited for the price to come down.

  • AmazonianAngel

I bought Gears 2 a few weeks ago for £10 from CEX, so no thank you
if microsoft want to actually profit from this, they’d be better off dropping the prices of games on demand, good concept but very over priced compared to other DD methods (like steam for example)
