Arcade: Super Meat Boy

Super Meat BoyContent: Super Meat Boy
Price: 800 Points until November 21, then the price will be 1200 Points
Availability: All Xbox LIVE Regions
Dash Text: Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who’s trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux. Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic retro titles we all know and love and stream lines them down to the essential no bull straight forward twitch reflex platforming. Ramping up in difficulty from hard to soul crushing SMB will drag Meat boy though haunted hospitals, salt factories and even hell itself. And if 300+ single player levels weren’t enough SMB also throws in epic boss fights, tons of unlock able secrets, warp zones and hidden characters.

  • Ratfoot

One of the best masocore platformers I’ve ever played.

  • chiruno99

I loved it, I’d say if you’re planning on buying this game buy it now before November 21st. Save yourself 400MS, and lucky I did to. After this and Costume Quest I were down to 60 points.

  • NumberedJester

Had a quick go earlier. I have a feeling its going to be one of those addictive, but frustrating games :).

WIll get a better go after the football (soccer)

    …okay, what

  • Redneck ant

Right now I’m at work and sadly the internet is very restricted so I can’t check out any game pages to see gameplay and stuff, could anyone tell me if this game is kinda similar to Limbo or The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom?

  • Hauz20

@ ant nothing like those; this is more like N+

  • KRiSX85

    fantasticly frustrating game… lol

  • Redneck ant

    @Hauz20 Thank you :D I’ll give it a try when I get home…

This came down to us from heaven. One of the most worthy arcade titles of all time, and at this release price policy (something that really is worth supporting) you betther don’t think it twice.
This isn’t really frustrating but effort rewarding. Don’t expect the game making you feel good for nothinng, you have to sweat it up. Still, a game in the vein of trials HD and N+ but less punishing.
    Sharp controls, sh*tloads of content.
Sadly nowadays gamers don’t really like time consuming games (not long span ones but skill demanding!) it’s like how LEGO had to invent Bionicles to appeal to nowadays kids that have less spare time and focus so they preffer something to build fast and then play just like action figures.

    My 2 cents tho.

I’ve got blisters on my fingers! Seriously though, I might actually need medical attention. Super Meat Boy is brutal.

If it can be released at 800 points, then why not just keep it there? Does it really need to have the price increase after a month? Seems a bit backwards.

  • CheekyLeeth

I am fully in favour of this game, and this price policy. Kudos to Team Meat for what is possibly the best Arcade title this year. At 800 points, you can’t go wrong!

  • Tino008

Game is amazaing – a must buy

  • theuglyteradon

More people need to be talking about this game.

  • sleepydumbdude

Fun game I wouldn’t have spent 1200 for it but 800 is a good price it. I probably would have held off on purchasing it if it was to stay at 800 though. Have way too many games to catch up on this month and 2 more I am buying before the months up.

  • utingme

frustrating, but suuuuper fun. I’m really enjoying the throwbacks :)

It reminds me a lot of N+ which is a good thing. Great purchase at 800 points.

  • Grumbledock

Just as I thought, nothing for me.
Like N+, but less levels and not as good control of the character. Personally, I rather spend my MS points at the indie games where I can get hours of fun, and good graphics, at 80MS points ^^
(Yes, I remember when I though live arcade was good, but now adays I get better games at lower costs, winwin)

  • bullka LT

@Grumbledock: could you recommend any good Indie games? It’s a shame I still have not a single Indie game (always thought that they’re lower quality games; they also have no achievements). Are indie games displayed in the list of my played games?

  • Z4M0

Super meat boy is no N+ both have their own merits and unique features but different doesn’t mean worse.
    @ bullka LT
They don’t show up in your gamercard nor give achievements. Try (arkedo series 3,2 and 1) Pixel, Swap, Jump, sling star, explosionade, dysnomia, (radian games ) crossfire, fluid, tank battles, This is hard, the shadows in the underworld…
You can get from pro looking games like tank battles or any of the arkedo series or cheaper but still good ones like crossfire which feels 10 times better than space invaders and is 10 times cheaper (plus neon style graphics, coop and top down/down top gameplay!)

Just finished it, what a awesome game! A little short but still really fun!

  • Arent Argento

Does the purchase of the full version for 800 points count towards the spent 2400 points get 800 back promotion?

  • Anonymous

I meant to post my above post for Costume Quest, SMB is definitely not short

One of the best arcades and the best arcade this year.

  • a1984darkboy

I’m in love with this game.
