  • Exu

Aaaaand we’re back to games costing 400 points more than they should.

  • Thiago123

X-Mas comes early. This is going to be a great two weeks. Quake, X-Men, Sunset Riders (in Game Room if the rumors are true), BFBC2 Vietnam + X-Mas games (NBA Jam, AssCreedBroHood, and Splinter Cell for me). So. Many. Games.

  • sleepydumbdude

X-men is really short. I’m going to hold off and see if any of my friends purchase it. If not I’ll just wait until it for on sale for $5 on one of the systems I own.

  • JoeCool314

man I really really loved the Xmen game…………is it worth $10…….I think not. should be a $5 game or less.

  • longklaw1

    800 points for XMEN? Really?

  • Digitalspirit

1200 Points for Quake Arena Arcade!!!!!!!!!! It’s taken over 3 years to port an age old PC game that you can play for FREE through a browser and M$ want 1200 Points for it!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! :(

  • AutomaticOcelot

Aaaaand we’re back to people whining about the price of a happy meal more than they should.

  • Joergen8

MS wants? I’m pretty sure it’s ID and their cronies that wants 1200 points for it.

Still waiting for DooM 2 to go on sale to get it.

  • Nex Antonius

Of course X-Men is really short, because it originated in the arcade. Arcade games tend to be short.

  • Demolition Doc

well, I think I need more ms point!

  • Atheist Primate

I used to like Quake 3 Arena on the PC back in the day even though I only played against bots (the time before I started to play online games). Quake Arena has been out for PC quite some time now, and it’s free. I’m not sure if it’s out of beta status yet, but anyways. I rarely complain about prizes. I gladly payed 1200 points for Plants vs Zombies since I love that game, but 1200 for Quake Arena when it’s free on PC is a bit strange.
I guess they’re going for 1200 points since it’s a Quake game. If it was a new game by not famous developers it probably would have been 800 points. I will anyway give the demo a try. Widescreen Quake with 16 players online might be very fun and worth 100 Norwegian kroner. Quake 3 Arena was a really fast game, so it will be interesting to see if they have nailed the controllers right. If not, I won’t buy it.

  • xTye

You greedy bastards! 1200 for Quake.

Was going to buy it. No longer am.

  • Gonin

I would have paid 1200 points for Quake and X-Men combined without a thought but the pricing is ludicrous. X-Men is OK but not quite as good as I remember. I got Streets of Rage 2 for 400 points and that’s a much better game, even TMNT was a steal at 400! As for Quake I don’t see there being a big enough community for a 1200 point game.
All in all nothing for me this week and I hope the majority of the XBOX public agree and vote with their lack of purchasing.

  • a peeking duck

800 points versus feeding many quarters into an arcade machine. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :P

  • DePetri

    Quake’s pricing is ridiculous.

  • MetalGearFloppy

Major, I’ve tried asking about this everywhere else, from the developers to xbox support, but nobody seems to want to acknowledge the issue even exists….

Quake Arena Arcade does not work for UK gamers on virginmedia cable broadband (and that’s quite a lot of people)

They cannot play online at all, which for an online game is a touch ridiculous.

Is there any chance you can find out if the devs/guys at xbox are aware of the issue and whether a fix is imminent?

    Many thanks.

  • Vega DD

MetalGearFloppy is this true that you cant play online if your on vergin media???

  • Cyrax PT

Lol, my friend was torturing me to buy Quake Arena but now, with this price, even he will not buy it! Thanks Microsoft! :D

  • MetalGearFloppy

    @ Vega DD

It seems that way, neither myself or a friend, also on VM couldn’t connect to any games, there’s a few more people with the problem on the xbox.com forums – http://forums.xbox.com/35273612/ShowPost.aspx (bottom of first page onwards).

I’ve been trying to get a response to the problem from the devs and xbox support all day, but no joy at all.

  • MetalGearFloppy

Seems the issue isn’t just with VM users anymore… Some BT/BT Infinity customers are experiencing the problem too.

If you’re in the UK, try the trial version online to make sure you can actually connect before purchasing the game…

  • Vega DD

MetalGearFloppy i cant even connect to xbox.com :(

  • AriesDog

Normally I wait until DLC goes on sale but X-Men is an instant download.

  • SumHydroponic

I was so willing to spend 800 on Quake…. Not willing at 1200 though.

  • SumHydroponic

I think that 1200 would be better spent on Section 8 Prejudice when it comes out early next year. Complete with a roughly 5 hour single player campaign and up to 32-player multiplayer, it appears that it will be more bang for the buck.

  • chiruno99

Quake Arena 3 only cost me £30 on Steam and that came with Quakes 1, 2 and many mission packs. This pricing for the one is ridiculous, even if it’s one of the best games ever. Then again if it hd Quake 2 I’d get it, except Quake 2 is in the LE Quake 4.
    -
For X-men, anyone complaining about the price like that clearly doesn’t love it enough for the classic and awesome game it is, the traitors. A pox on them.
    -
As for Go…well…paying 400 for an avatar adapted version of a board game is silly, but remember this on the NES would have probably cost twice as much. Bleh, even with Avatars it doesn’t make it good.

  • The Bill Payer

Quake was a nice surprise for today, I have to play it first to see if it’s worth that 1200 or not.

    I doubt I’ll pay that price though…

  • SooperDoop

Quake 3 Arena for 1200? It was alright but I’d rather them have put up the original Unreal Tournament up there. Plenty more game modes and loads more fun that Quake 3 was.

  • Redneck ant

X-Men arcade was an instant buy for me :D

  • darkjester74

Seems like Xbox.com has taken a powder. Bummer. :(

Also, $10 for X-Men is hilarious.

  • viper1829

I was going to write a comment about the X-Men game being awesome, but over priced. It looks like everyone else beat me to the punch. $10 game? I was looking forward to this game, but I’ll wait. 400 points is almost too much.

  • Exu

Nah, 400 is fine for coin-ops that have had sod-all of any substance added. 800 is not.
There’s an achievement for beating it in under 25 minutes for goodness’ sake.

  • TheExMascot

I hate to sound negative but in these bad economic times, where my bills are barely getting paid, a $10 coin-op game is a lot. I’m glad to see another classic coin-op game added though. Thanks Microsoft. Now I wish Game Room would get some more games I recognize. Supposedly Sunset Riders is next week, since it didn’t pop up this week, but even that may be crippled by the fact that I don’t think Game Room games support online 4 player. To me, that would be a FAIL. I love coin-op games being on XBLA but they are too far and few in between and I still wasn’t throwing $10 in quarters into one game back in the day.

  • MetalVic

Anybody else who tried The Path of Go demo have problems getting kicked back to the dash before a game starts? Or is it just my Box going bad, again? Has anybody even tried the demo? Major?

  • sk00ks

X-Men should be 400 points, no question. I’ll wait for it to come down in price.
As for Quake, well, I can see why it’s 1200 (kind of) but it’s much too steep for me. I’ll wait on that one too I think.

  • Anonymous

X-MEN was worth $10 and I wasn’t expecting it to be any less. It may not take extremely long to beat but it’s exactly as I remember it from the old arcade. Only if Turtles in Time was left alone. Now, bring me The Simpsons arcade game and we’re in business!

Before anyone comments on how I’ve yet to purchase X-MEN based on my gamercard – I purchased it on the PS3 so it won’t show here.

  • CheekyLeeth

I want to thank you, MS, for helping me to control my impulse spending in these hard times. Without you so thoughtfully gouging customers at every opportunity, I may well have bought two of these 3 titles today.
    -
Why, exactly, is X Men 800 MS points? It certainly hasn’t been updated in any way. I could buy TMNT and Streets of Rage 2 for the same price, both of which are actually better games. Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Final Fight Double Impact are each at 800 MS points, and both seem worth the price. This seems … ridiculous.
    -
Quake Arena is still tempting, even at 1200, but I would have bought without even trialling it at 800. It may be worth it, if only because I am such a huge fan, but if the limited choice of games in the demo is anything to go by I can only imagine that everybody else has decided to pass until it goes on sale.
    -
So that’s 2000 points worth of money that is still in my bank account, rather than in yours. Or, to put it another way, £17.50 that is now more likely to be spent on Steam than on XBox Live Marketplace.
    -
    Well done!

  • Alfred Saxon

I bought both games and i am very happy. December is turning out to be my best gaming month ever!. I am fine with the prices.

I have had no problems at all with Quake Arena Arcade online. No problems finding games. No lag at all. I am with BT. Also i have never had any problems with Battlefield 1943. Like some folk do.
