What Xbox LIVE Region are you in? The links for fine for everyone in the office, maybe the demo is not available in your area.

It’d be great if the error message for region availability were more explicit, then =)

I heard this is a substantial improvement over Ego Draconis. It’s been out in the EU for a while though. I wonder why it has taken so long to make it to this side of the pond?

It never had a publisher until Atlus picked it up. The original publisher of Ego Draconis didn’t pick it up due to poor sales of the original.

This is a fantastic game I picked up on Steam for $20. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys good action RPGs.

Gotta say, Larry, not a fan of the new site layout. Think Ill stick to using Twitter and Google Reader. :-(

Wasn’t this demo already released, twice?

This the updated version of the game using a new graphics engine and it includes the unreleased(in the US) expansion pack. Game was fun when I tried the original it was just herky jerky with its frame rate like Two Worlds and became unplayable to me after awhile.

I just played the demo and the framerate issue is fixed! I will be purchasing this. I must say though I expected the character creation to be improved from the original and the character models revamped but they still pretty much look like crap. The environments though. WOW. Pretty gorgeous.

Totally agree Elektro. I played through every quest and got all 1000 GS in the original and LOVED every minute of it (even despite its lack of polish, it still has its own unique charm), so I’m excited to finally get a chance to try out the redone version and the new DLC too! I was also even more excited to find out that the this redone version with the new DLC – a TON of content – is only going to be FORTY dollars at release, so I already have mine pre-ordered. If you love open-world RPGs, you owe it to yourself to give this one a try!

The demo is kind of busted. Lots of missing models – doors are replaced with brick wall textures or missing completely, but you can still interact with them. You can’t see the loot bag models that enemies drop. There’s a cemetery near a church in the second village where you can interact with tombstones that aren’t even there. Hope the final game isn’t like this, because I’ve really been looking forward to it.

I have the full version, i got a while back in the UK and it has none of them problems.

Major any new’s on a MORTAL KOMBAT Demo!?

  • MacPhisto

Removed? Wtf? Like Daz said, the game’s already been released and well-received in the UK, so how could they possibly have screwed up the demo???

“Here is a game nobody has liked so much we needed another demo to make sure nobody likes it.”

  • MacPhisto

I just found this in the tech support forum for Larian Studios (the game’s developer) posted by the owner of Larian Studios himself:

“A demo like this gets a lot of attention, gets its own QA rounds, needs to go through a separate certification procedure at Microsoft, and in general gets a lot of scrutiny as it’s quite an important marketing vehicle. So the last thing I expected last night was to see that there were issues. To make a long story short, it turns out that somehow in the process of transferring the demo to Xbox Live, two files got lost and the result was that all kinds of graphic assets weren’t present in the online image of the demo. Stuff like this happens, but I just wished that it wouldn’t have happened here. :-(

Atlus is working with Microsoft to get it live again (this time including the missing files), so the moment we hear more, we’ll let you know.”

That was posted early this morning. Hopefully it’ll be back up soon, as I’m dying to try out the new redone version, and maybe get a taste of the DLC too!
