Military States billing options now available on Xbox LIVE

As a lot of you are aware of, I’ve spent some significant time with my friends in the military and have gotten a lot of great feedback about Xbox LIVE. One of the big requests has been from those individuals and families living on bases around the world was to have the option to use Military States as a billing address.

I’m happy to announce that the Xbox team has made this happen. Xbox LIVE now accepts AA (Armed Forces of the Americas), AE (Armed Forces Europe) and AP (Armed Forces Pacific) as options for credit card addresses. You can make this change on your console or the billing section of Xbox.com.

We hope this makes it easier for the men and women in the United States Armed Forces to stay connected to the Xbox LIVE community.

Thank you for everything you do.

That’s awesome. I’ve seen a ton of threads where people in the Armed Forces couldn’t connect or download content. They are going to love this.

why would you make the military pay for xbox live they are risking their life for your ass

    • http://twitter.com/SFX_Acidic Andrew

Lets see yes they’re fighting but the announcement above allows them to use their Military Address as information on the console. Now you should do more research before you bitch about XBL. * shakes head *

Andrew, stop being so damn dense. We all understand the content of this post (military members can now use their military base address), but what they are saying is that THEY FEEL that members of the military should be given a free gold membership for what they do for our country. Stop trying to be a douche and troll if you don’t understand what is going on.

        • http://twitter.com/SFX_Acidic Andrew

You do know you all can move on with the topic about me. Just it always seems when Larry post something some of you come by to yell at him over the post.

          • http://twitter.com/UrbanDerivative Ryan

no one was yelling, they were simply posting their feelings on the live service for servicemen and women. You were being a troll.

  • http://profiles.google.com/pedlagdur Pedro Laguna

When something about changing country for Live accounts? Having two accounts is the kind of solution that a non-paid network will be offering. I changed my home country, I want to change my Live account information too!

Sony news: “we got hacked again, so sorry, best just change your name and move”. Microsoft news: “here’s more network support for our military”. Hm….

Sony news: “we got hacked again, so sorry, best just change your name and move”. Microsoft news: “we now make it easier for soldiers to get ripped off by giving us their credit card so we can keep billing them even when they cancel our services”. Hm….

LIVE should be free for members of the military.

    • http://twitter.com/SFX_Acidic Andrew

Nim rod! Xbox Live Doesn’t accepted Military Address until NOW!

      • http://twitter.com/HazyCloud HazyCloud

Umm, they didn’t even mention anything about accepting addresses. The poster is saying it should be free for military. Same goes the post above you replied to. *shakes head*

        • http://twitter.com/UrbanDerivative Ryan

leave andrew alone, he obviously just doesn’t understand the point that was being made.

lets clear this up he seems to think we don’t understand what the post means? WE GET IT, its a billing address option. It’s simple, but now you have to acknowledge that it’s sparked the debate that perhaps it’s not even necessary to have a billing address for services members, because maybe they shouldn’t have to pay for it.

Andrew can agree or disagree with the notion of free live for service members, but my advice to him would be to open his eyes before he opens his mouth. His comments are irrelevant to the original posts he made them on.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ron.golson Ron Golson

You realize that makes no sense what you just said Andrew… what he’s saying is that they should make XBOX Live FREE for servicemembers. YOU sir are the NIM ROD.

So does this mean I can just buy points or will I be able to purchase US content? I am Active Duty stationed in Germany and when I try to dl the first set of cod maps it tells me they are not available in my region.

Unfortunately it will likely remain the same for you, as Germany has an incredibly strict policy on digital violence in regards to downloads. Japan and Germany both usually have these restrictions.

good luck in the army, already been in for a minute so I’m glad to see others joining at a time of war. As for the COD Map packs that would be pretty awesome if we could download them in Korea but one thing at a time.

When are the UNITED STATES Virgin Islands going to get in on the billing action? This is like the easiest change ever, it only requires someone on your team add “VI” in the “state” code. So simple it hurts.

  • http://profiles.google.com/swaingh Gary Swain

Awesome. This has been needed for a LONG time. Now, let’s fix the COD Black Ops map pack 1 download for those military members living overseas.

    • http://twitter.com/Shiaoran Fernando Costa

Oh, yes, unblock all IP-blocked content for the noble cause of the military members living overseas… *evil laugh* (It’s hard to jump through several techy hoops just to get some blocked suff, you know…)

One day, Major Nelson will post an announcement about an enhancement to XBL and every post will be positive. Until that day, I’ll just read through these posts through my fingers. What an embarrassment certain posters have made this thread.

For the record, I am not in the armed services, but well done for making it easier for them to connect to XBL.

        • http://www.facebook.com/rellus.gellor Russell Gorall

When did it become cool to make any meaningless gestures on the Internet?

Firstly – I’d like to thank the men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe here at home. As a Canadian, I realize the importance of how having America as an ally contributes to the safety of our people.

Now off the sappy stuff, and to the business side of things:

Secondly – My two options: buy 1000 points for $15 or 2000 points for $29.. yet the Canadian dollar is stronger than the US for a few months now. Also if I go to the store and pay $19.99 I get 1400 points where as in the States I would get 1600 and only pay $19.06 with today’s conversion.

Pay less and get more points, that’s a no brainer… wait a minutes… can’t use those points in Canada.

No no… the MS points system is fair.. bullshit whoever told you that.

Time to bring the system on par with Canada.

XBL users are starting to ask questions because of Sony; as a result Microsoft has been under a heavy microscope in the past two weeks and Canadians are pissed.

Time to send emails to Canadian media outlets because it doesn’t take a three year old to figure out we’re getting gouged north of the boarder.

I would take a dump in the mouth of the military in general, but that sounds too exciting for me sexually and I might risk the don’t ask just smell whatnot. What was this about? Oh, the military. Bunch of drugged up homosexuals, good for them.

  • http://twitter.com/boeboelord Boe2

US military, excels at killing unarmed people, no doubt they learned it from CoD :)

  • http://profiles.google.com/bazajt Barrie Tingle

OK that is all good and well for the US Military now what about those of us that are locked out of buying content like CoD BlOps map packs because we moved to another country since we started playing Xbox? All because my Live ID country of origin doesn’t match my current geographical IP address.

There is no way I am creating a new account and losing my 88k+ GamerScore just because you won’t let us change our country of residence on our accounts.

  • http://profiles.google.com/wesdavis77 Wes Davis

Great job … now the boys and girls have something to do when there not killing the Osama’s of the world … good stuff MS!

  • Jeff

While I have nothing against the military and this is a great option for them (as they have been unable to download stuff in the past), I do despise all this asslicking from civvies who think their “hey listen to me I’m sucking up to you guys, aren’t I great” will do them a favour in life. Similarly, saying that we should give XBL (and other services in general) for free is even worse. The military are a vital service – much like teachers, doctors, engineers, scientists, nurses, rubbish collectors even – yet I never hear as much praise for those folk as with the military. We as citizens are paying for ALL those services already, with our taxes.

And yet Guam, a US Territory home to 11,000+ military personal, and about 150,000 other US citizens is still left out in the cold.

I love my xbox, but PS3 and Wii have had this since day one. Sorry to say it, but when it comes to paying you money the other two consoles have you beat.

      Armed Forces Pacific?

Armed forces pacific have zip codes that start with 966xx Guam starts at 969xx.
