New Xbox 360 System Update Brings Expanded PayPal Functionality

I am happy to announce that, as a part of a new Xbox 360 System Update, we’re expanding our integration with PayPal to allow U.S. and international Xbox LIVE users to make purchases on their Xbox 360 consoles with their PayPal accounts.* Once you’ve linked your PayPal account to your Xbox LIVE account on Xbox.com, you’ll be off and running to use it as a billing option, allowing you to buy content such as Microsoft Points, Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions and Games on Demand titles.

We are rolling out the Xbox 360 System Update gradually to all Xbox LIVE users starting today and throughout the next couple weeks to ensure a high quality deployment. Just like any other update to our service, you will know you’ve received it when you turn on your Xbox 360 console, connect to Xbox LIVE and receive a notification to download the update. It’s important to note that it may take a few days to make its way around the globe. Thanks for your patience if you don’t get it right away!

This particular update will also bring an auto-standby feature that places your console on standby if it’s idle for more than one hour, helping to reduce power consumption. This feature will be available under Auto-Off in Console Settings after you download the update

Finally, thank you to all who participated in the preview program for this Xbox 360 System Update. Your contributions helped us prepare for the updated Xbox 360 disc format capability that comes with this release.

*PayPal functionality will not be available in the following Xbox LIVE regions: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan

Can anyone answer me something? I have the latest update version but i dont see paypal anywhere, im a US user. I also do not see this Auto Standby feature anywhere. Is it the auto shutoff option?

So much for a smooth deployment of this latest and greatest update eh Larry Hyreb. Looks like all the added security is working for now, until of course it’s broken within a week or a month… further hindering any legitimate customer M$ has inconvinenced. Such an important update just for the veneer of Paypal integregation… along with changing the dvd key location, disc format, reflashing drive to stock firmware, extra intrusive calling home (perhaps illegal?) and new AP25 challenges facilitating the bricking of consoles through shoddy implementation that M$ is notorious for. But so long as share holders believe projections will be met through this faux panacea who cares. Your new website is as pretentious as your contributions towards the console industry might i also add (Inventing achivements is like Al Gore laying claim to inventing the internet, you’re the most overpaid glorified PR in history) and as slow as the antiquated Xbox 360 hardware. But atleast I believe you realize if another banwave was initiated the likelyhood of people purchasing new consoles is low enough the profit risk reward pendulum swings in the favor of continuing to collect gold membership opposed to reinvestment into another out dated poorly designed brick.

and once again another day comes and yep you guessed it no update, still waiting…….. and waiting……. and waiting………… is Florida on some kind of do not update list? I would at least like to see the paypal option before the big earthquake comes and starts the chains of events that leads to the end of the world.

Please relay my thanks for all the hard work the LIVE team does for the community. There have been so many crucial improvements to the services since I started using, almost 5 years ago! Paypal is a pretty neat feature but doesn’t change the service substantially, but improvement is improvement.

You can’t remove a credit card if you have a Gold subscription that is paid for with that credit card. Even though it was paid for, you have to literally call. I called last Fall and the guy said I would need another credit card to take the card off.

MS makes it super-easy to give them money, yet not so easy to stop automatically giving them money.

  I didn’t got it. But as I said earlier, this update will last 10 days. I think in France it start on may 23. It seems that for now only US have it. Everyone will have it, but not all are getting this update at the same time.
