NBC now in the Video Channel

If you are in the US, I wanted to let you know that the NBC content that was formerly in the Inside Xbox channel on your Xbox 360 Dashboard  now has a new permanent home in the Video Marketplace channel. The video quality has been upgraded, and you’ll find the content has been expanded and broken down into sections like Top News, Most Viewed, NBC Nightly News, TODAY Show and much more. Now if you need your news fix, there is no need to sign off of Xbox LIVE, switch the TV input or even put down your controller.

    Oh now they are trying to indoctrinate the gamers.  NBC has so many people upset who cares about them anymore.  Just another slot filled that could be used for something else.

    I was always baffled that the news videos weren’t in the “video” section.  Nevertheless, I actually preferred the old format because the videos loaded much quicker and now, the loading is sometimes longer than the video itself.  Before, they were instantaneous.

    I just don’t understand Microsoft….I really don’t. They started out in 2005 by advertising the Xbox 360 as a HD Game/Entertainment device but now they release a non HD version of NBC news with such fanfare when everyone knows NBC News has a HD version.  The 360 is slowly loosing it’s ‘Swag’.

      Xbox would like to do that, I’m sure, but it’s not going to happen as long as the networks and channels restrict their international availability. We can’t get Sky on Xbox Live here in the US, and they can’t get ESPN or NBC there in the UK/Europe.

    Thank You Major, I noticed it on the video channel this weekend.  Having the NBC news content is very helpful for people who only have high speed internet and are not buying cable or satellite service.

    nbc is some of the worst news. the americans can have it, i’m better off using my own resources for unbiased reporting on news that matters. nbc has been distracting us with the weiner story for a month. nice.

      I’d rather have Sky Player actually, but I’m in the US so it’s not available. I’m sure the NBC content is specific to the US because NBC is a US broadcast network. I think Xbox would *like* to make the updates worldwide, but cannot do so because of the particular legal requirements and media rights (intellectual property) restrictions.

    Sky is not available in the US. We’ve got ESPN for sports and NBC for news and entertainment.
