Avatar Kinect now available

Avatar Kinect

Avatar Kinect is now available for download. Once the download is complete, you can either select ‘Play Now’ from the download screen, or later, you can return to the Guide and select the “Games” tab, then “Quick Launch” to play. If you have FunLabs, go to “My Gadgets” and select “Avatar Kinect.” Once you upload your movies, then go to KinectShare.com where you can watch the video, download it or share it out on Facebook.

    I highly recommend Avatar Kinect. We got to play around with it a little last week and it is a hoot!
    Just love what we will be doing with it going forward…

      I found the tracking to be terrible, not sure what the sensor even thinks it is seeing at times. Apparently you got that good version of it?

      I had this problem, try clearing your system cache, fixed the problem for me

      Edit: And of course, as soon as I post that it starts freezing on the blue screen again

    I tried updating Kinect FunLabs and it is hanging on the blue screen. Any word on an update to resolve this issue?

      It is what Fun Labs is now, they know about it, they aren’t doing anything about it. Their support page is blowing up over it.

    Apparently you need to have Kinect Voice Commands turned on to avoid the freeze, though I don’t know how much truth there is in that.

      I’ve tested this theory and it fails. The reality is that this thing is just broken. It ocurred during either the Tuesday (7/19) Update or during the kinect update when Sparkler was added. Whatever it was, no amount of tweaks is fixing it. Additionally, I haven’t gotten a response from my submission. Awesome that people working on an SDK for Kinect now get to find out that stuff freezes. I’m usually fairly pro Microsoft because I love my 360 but I’d sure like an explaination as to why what seems to be a large percentage of users cannot get onto their Fun Labs. These things usually go through cert. -Adam

    You know, it would be a really good idea for MS to not only release Avatar Kinect, but finally fix or at least remove the patch for Kinect Fun Labs that broke the whole thing OVER ONE WEEK ago. Of course, now you can’t even post this tidbit on the forums, since they are broken as well for days now.

      Agreed. I have no idea why they even released it. The only way to play it is through a workaround, they KNOW that, and they still release it. Crazy.

      I can confirm this method works. Just quick launch to Avatar Kinect and you wont have to deal with the freezing Fun Labs.

        It’s good that this is another way in, however the way they want us to is through Fun labs, so they need to fix it so that we can.

    I am unable to get into Kinect Fun Labs. When it starts I see the Nissan ad and then it goes away and my console freezes. Nothing. I have an older white model Xbox 360 and I am not the only one with this issue. I got my Kinect last week and I have been unable to get into Kinect Fun Labs at all. I really want to try it out.

    Not a good idea to announce this Major/Xbox. Kinect Fun Labs has been broken since the last update. It freezes every time. All you’re doing is inviting the whole world to get angry with you.

    mine is only freezing now on my 250g hd my 120 g is working fine now  I am uninstalling it on the 250 now and try reinstalling it to see if iy will work like my 120g did

    I can’t even get into fun labs, it always says server unavailable. Haven’t even been able to try Bobbleheads or Build a Buddy. 512MB Arcade model with a 60GB HDD from starter kit. I know the newer 4GB models have this same issue. Any fix in the future?

      It’s rumored that you need a hard drive for it to work. I was just complaining about this yesterday on reddit!

    I’ve got a 250g Slim model and I am having the same problem that most others are having. Sure, I can launch it from the quick launch menu, but I still have achievements in the other fun labs games that need completed. Any word on a fix Major?

    It’s not very good… Major disappointment =(

    When you start Avatar Kinect, it asks you to Stand Up… I was unable to get Avatar Kinect or Kinect Fun Labs to recognise me whilst sitting down, even though the Kinect Hub can! In the Avatar Kinect trrailers, people were sitting.

    The game makes you stand in one spot and pretty much tells you not to move. And me standing still and with a neutral expression made my Avatar look angry… I had to move my eye brows into an un-natural position to look neutral.

    I found selecting things in Avatar Kinect very difficult as the hand tracking was off. Thiis only made me finally realise, after months of good will and excitement, that the Kinect is not easy to use. If you don’t have perfect lighting and are wearing the right clothes. Kinect just doesn’t work right.

    I was really super excited about Avatar Kinect. Now I just feel like a sucker for buying a Kinect in the first place. It doesn’t, “Just Work.” and is frustrating to use… The slow and unresponsive Kinect Fun Labs interface also compounds these issues ten fold.

      I am hoping they get to work on Fun Labs and help Avatar Kinect actually work. I don’t understand what they were trying to promote in their demos, you see two people sitting down, their eyebrows moving and lips in perfect unison. Why even pretend that is anything close?

    Avatar Connect and Funlabs are working great. Had a idea I wanted to post for the XBOX community. Heard a hot one today by a Xbox insider. This is one I know the major must be  crunching the gaming possibility numbers already. Serious gamers are speaking about a breakthrough in MAGLEV the same technology used for floating trains. -XBOX kinnect levitation. Your avatar floats in the game you float on possibly the ”BIGGEST” selling gizmo in World History! Think of Iron Man or a game called Virtual Build Space where your using a extravehicular mobility unit(EMU). I could see the night before these hit the shelf. In electrodynamic suspension (EDS), both the gamer (Eakin-Trix-Reb) and the xbox kinnect top secret  base exert a magnetic field, and the gamer is levitated by the repulsive force between these magnetic fields. The user-interface in the games Code would reduces or increases the force according to the scenario.

    I have a problem with Avatar Kinect, Kinect Labs, and other non-game apps earning Achievement Points. It cheapens the meaning of what they represent. They should be zero point achievements at the very most, like what Xbox did for people who were at the 360 launch. Before you know it, it’ll be used for lame marketing in apps like Netflix, ESPN, and Hulu. “Watched the Season Premiere of American Idol – 20G”. Put a stop to it now!

    A little something to think about…. If kinect didn’t have issues, if finger tracking was on point, if u were able to sit down and your avatar did everything you did without the slightest glich or problem then don’t you think Microsoft would’ve wanted your life savings, your house and car morgaged for this product (just saying)?

    Kinect freezes as soon I launch it from the HUB! Unable to use the app. My xbox is a “grandfather” xbox. The HALO LE Xbox. Is it because its an old system? I know that people with the slim xbox don’t have a problem.
