Not available UK it seems =[

    • http://twitter.com/mcmax3000 David

A friend of mine who writes for a UK site got a press release that has a release date of tomorrow for the Driver demo so I’m guessing it will be there tomorrow but he’s not sure.

    Nothing for Europe …

US only, again… thought this wasn’t gonna show till two weeks before release which would be what the 19th?

    • http://twitter.com/mcmax3000 David

I believe I read that it got pushed back until early September but I could be wrong. Haven’t been following it that closely.

Japan is a no go as well! :(

  • Damian Lobbett

REALLY!?! How can they expect people to wanna play their games when they won’t treat everyone equal

  • Anonymous

it seems i ‘found a glitch in the system’ when trying to download it from that link you provided…is that MS talk for tough luck, its not available in the UK?

    • Anonymous

I’m a Gold subscriber in the US and that’s been happening a lot with demos lately.  I get to the checkout screen and then it gives me the “glitch” page when I try to press the confirm button. Maybe try a different browser or clear your cache and cookies.

Remember: it’s not Microsoft that controls a region’s availability, it’s the publisher. Whine at them.

    • http://twitter.com/mcmax3000 David

      This.

Also, keep in mind that it still hasn’t been that long since the normal time the Marketplace updates so it might just not have populated everywhere yet. Can’t understand why they’d keep the demo from being available elsewhere. It’s not a region specific release that I know of.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=761838071 Peter Tilbrook

True. And a publisher may be restricted to a region where a title has already been “rated” – even in a pre-release form. It sucks I know but build a bridge.

Apart from that and being an Australian where generally we are treated like shit we buy off shore.

Owing to the a-holes rioters in England may stop using OzGameShop however,

  • http://twitter.com/ProudAzrael Justin Giles

I know that it’s down to the publishers when and where a demo is released, but why does Microsoft allow them to keep neglecting non-US consumers like this? Ubisoft is a European publisher, they’re ready to turn their back on their home turf just to please the Americans?

And speaking of demos, Microsoft, can’t you make more developers make demos for more of their games? I can’t afford to buy every game that I like the look of, I need demos to help me decide for myself, as I don’t generally rely on reviews.

    • http://twitter.com/mcmax3000 David

Microsoft cannot force them to do anything. If you have issues with Ubi’s decision as to where to release their demos, go post on their forums and ask. You’ll be a lot more likely to get an answer of any substance than you will from a site run by a Microsoft employee that has zero control over what Ubisoft does.

They also can’t force anybody to make a demo. Demos cost development time & money to create and the decision as to whether or not to create one comes down to those and whether that time & money can be sacrificed.

      • http://twitter.com/ProudAzrael Justin Giles

*sighs* I know, I guess it more a type of ranting/thinking out loud, I remember during the last generation of consoles, almost every game that wasn’t shovelware had a demo.

    • Anonymous

The game was developed in Europe too (Newcastle upon Tyne to be precise)…

      • http://twitter.com/ProudAzrael Justin Giles

That just makes this example of the UK/EU not getting the demo all the more disgusting!

        • http://twitter.com/mcmax3000 David

UK gets the demo tomorrow as per @XboxSupport on Twitter.

  • http://twitter.com/justinj1983 Justin Johnston

i know its Ubisofts decision to make it US only but who made the decision that only gold subscribers get demos on release, thats such a stupid idea for a single player demo.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=761838071 Peter Tilbrook

That is a “Gold Member” benefit. Don’t like it? Upgrade.

  • http://thetjhzone.blogspot.com Tylerh1701

DOTW?  Is it really Rock Band content again?

  • Ryan Lovatt

Another US exclusive on live? What a surprise, this is starting to get rather tedious!

Look out for the Driver San Francisco demo on Xbox LIVE tomorrow, featuring three missions. It’s pretty bloody good RT from mr pointy head so its gunna be tommorow

  • http://twitter.com/Dninja Scott Hickman

As the chap below me has pointed out, the demo hits Europe tomorrow.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. The shift mechanic looked a bit silly at E3, but it’s pretty cool in practice, and they seem to be interested in experimenting with it.

Things like the race in the demo where you’re responsible for two cars, and must shift between them to make sure they win 1st and 2nd place.

Or shifting into a bus to block the path of the cops so you can get away.

There’s a lot of potential here, and I didn’t see it until I played this demo. Looking forward to the full release.

  • http://twitter.com/DntMessWitRohan Rohan Pinto

I hate the demo TBH, not good at all. I’d take GTAIV’s racing component over this full game if it stays the way it is.

Pass on this game and just purchase either a good racing title or GTAIV ;)

    • http://profiles.google.com/jeverage Quality Jeverage

Driver is not a racing franchise. They seem to have forgotten that with recent releases, but there was never a focus on racing in the early titles. They may be moving back to their roots with SF.

  • Alex QuiCkz

The Driver demo is US only today and will be out in EU tomorrow.

    Demo is terribly meh.

      Awesome! Saves a download!

      • http://twitter.com/Dninja Scott Hickman

Instead of listening to someone else who’s tastes may differ widly from your own, try it anyway, you might even like it.

        • Anonymous

I’ve played 1, 2 and Driv3r. Not a fan. I had no plans on downloading this anyway!

          • Anonymous

If you were never planning on downloading it, how does that post “save the download?”

          • Anonymous

Really didn’t think this’d be a thing! This showed up as a feed. I read the first comment and thought “Haha. Similar opinion”! And just randomly replied! It’s not gonna affect anybody’s opinion of the game so what’s the deal?

      • Anonymous

It’s not THAT meh. I thought the shift mechanic alone makes it fairly innovative–but it IS ridiculously SHORT.

Seems to work for Aussies now. Connected with Firefox and added it to my queue. ;)

When a game is made, the tradition is always kept no matter the storyline. This
Driver San Francisco messed up the driver tradition. I don’t want to play a driver games stuck driving 1 car. whatever happened to variety? Taking a great game then messing it up. makes me wonna throw up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Numro-Uno/100002552619151 Numro Uno

whoever designed this game should be fired. Idiots.

    • Anonymous

Seriously? Wow. You do realize that in the real game, you’re able to drive just about every car you can SEE, right? Side note: the Driver series went downhill when you got out of the car, IMO.
