Next week, Gears of War 3 launches. While many local events will be taking place, on Monday, September 19th, I’ll be at the marquee event in New York City. Join me at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, to be broadcast live during a special episode of GameTrailers TV featuring special guest Aisha Tyler, and airing from 11:30 p.m. – 12:01 a.m. local U.S. time on Spike TV. Attendees will be among the first to play “Gears of War 3” before it hits retail shelves at midnight, compete in tournaments for exclusive prizes, meet the game’s developers, and see an exclusive concert in the Best Buy Theater featuring VMA Best New Artist nominee, Big Sean. Fans in the New York area will also be able to participate in a scavenger hunt to secure VIP access to the event and win coveted “Gears of War 3’s” swag, including Limited and Epic editions, and more.

Check later this week for scavenger hunt details.

The last major Gears event was also in NYC.  Why not LA this time, or dare I say it, Seattle?

    • Douglas Bailey

Yup Halo 3 was in NYC (I was there for that one as well) and it was excellent.  Hoping this launch is just as fun.

Landing in NYC about an hour before this event starts, from the UK. If I buy a copy there:
    1) Is it region free?
    2) Is there an opportunity for it to be signed by Cliff etc, or will I arrive too late?

  • Sean Murphy

Sounds like an evening of waiting in line, loud music, flashing lights, with a slim chance of getting something after 4 hours :).

I’m sure these events are fun for some, but they’re just to popular and crowded for my tastes.

Have fun to all who enjoy it! The rest of us we’ll acquire our copies and hug them on the bus-ride home, right?
